Homelessness is only on the rise and as someone who has spent much of her life homeless, it’s difficult, terrifying, and a huge pit that can be impossible to climb out of on your own. I truly hope everyone finds themselves always homed and safe. 💖 Thanks for shining a light on this game Jules and FGS.
Jules... I broke man... I've been homeless. I know it's hard. And for you it was probably hard to talk about. Thank you Jules, and the rest of FGS, for bringing more awareness to this problem that is sweeping the globe. Keep up the hard work guys. Yeah, I'm still crying.
I was homeless for 3 years during the pandemic. It was definitely a shock for me. When I showed up at the shelter they asked me what was my "D.O.C."? I asked what that meant? They said, "Drug of Choice". I looked dead in their eye and said "uhhh... Weed?". It was a genuine shock to them that I didn't do meth or crack. I was kicked out of my brother's house for cigarettes, not drugs. My family is very religious and I was trying to quit, but kept falling short. My first week at the shelter was very uncomfortable. I didn't know anyone and I kept to myself playing Skyrim on my laptop. What was strange to me was the apathy of the staff working there. There were several people who OD'd while at the shelter. They would sneak in drugs and then do them once they got inside. I was very lucky to have the background I did, because it was very easy for me to say no to people offering me meth, crack, or anything else. It was always funny to me tho, other people would see me on the street and ask if I had any meth or crack to share, and I never did. In 3 years I never flew a sign and begged for change. And fortunately, my buddy put me up for the winter and I was able to use his mailbox to apply for disability for my Bipolar Disorder. I've been off the streets for 2 years and have been maintaining my medication and paying rent. I consider myself very blessed, and I thought this was a genuine gut punch that I really appreciated. While I'm not in a position to really help anyone else, I do hope that anyone reading this that needs it finds some sort of inspiration. All is not lost, and a little perseverance can truly change your life. Thank you Jules, this was awesome.
Wow. Sorry to hear that and glad you made it so far. I've heard how shelters don't solve drug addiction and this is the first *personal* experience I've heard. Seems like a shelter could make recovery more difficult or make things worse.
Good 👍🏻 Job don’t forget your car is going in and your truck will take you forever to get it fixed and then it’s going back to work and then it’s all the windows open so
You are such a great person Jules. I myself was homeless at one time and it is not easy. And I appreciate your thoughtful understanding of other people. Thank you for that.
Hey... I'm currently staying in a crisis shelter in the US. The embarrassment and shame I felt hurt so bad that my... um... Let's say "Jet" use went from recreational to overdrive mainly to numb the shame. So thank you, but I wont be trying #1. But double thank you for showcasing the light on the problem of homelessness, chem use, and mental health. Healthy, dignified discussion that doesn't treat the subjects like trash, and instead treats them like human beings just like anyone else, that, I believe, is the key to making a dent in this social epidemic. By coming to this crisis center, I found people who treat me like a actual person with needs and feelings, and today I signed papers on a new job. And double-double thank you to you, Jules. As someone who has done game journalism in the past (and hopes to do so again in the future), your videos always give me a laugh or two. And some days - this may be lame but I don't care - when you say "You're a massive ledge," well, some days that just hits different. So today, YOU'RE the massive ledge, Jules.
Jules is a good person, the end was a little slap to reality. Most people don realise how bad others have it, or ignore them on the street and pretend they dont excist. Homeless are real people too and often have a story that is unheard. Be more kind to people be more like Jules :)
19:07 Sometimes, not judging and being kind is one of the biggest and easiest ways you can help people who are struggling, especially with something like homelessness. So even us poor folks, even if we can't donate, being kind and seeing everyone as a person is an important step in making our world a better place! Jules always getting us with the feels on silly video game shows, inspiring and heartwarming man!
Love you Jules Been watching you for a few years now and honestly your sign offs have really helped me over the years deal with my complex ptsd (big hugs)
I subbed to this channel just for you Jules and your kindness always shines through ❤ To add a game series, the Shadowrun trilogy allows you to buy performance enhancing drugs that typically raise a stat or two but lowers another. I haven’t seen any kind of addiction mechanic though.
Videos like this one remind me why I still follow Jules' personal channel, even tho I don't care about Warhammer. And it's because he is an amazing legend, whose positivity can help people, and has helped me personally when I was in a bad place. Like, it's not always gonna do the job, but if it helps even one person, that's good enough for me. Thanks for being awesome, Jules, you amazing, bald legend. You and Simon Miller are the best parts of What culture by a long shot. One love ❤
That last entry hit so hard as someone who by all rights should be homeless, but by miracles and kindness of others I never have been. I pass so many homeless on my way to work in Times Square and my heart breaks because I barely get by as it is and can't do anything to help them financially. All I can do is offer a kind word and well wishes, and I hate myself for it. Jules, you made me cry and that is a damned hard thing to do. Thank you for that curveball.
Last game is a bit like "This War of Mine", where people say it's depressing and overly hard. That's the point, it's people trying to live from day to day in a warzone. It's not supposed to be "fun".
Jules I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I want to say thank you to you and all you have done and try to do for your viewers. I have trouble making it through the day without constantly wishing death upon myself, but even in my darkest moments when I watch or listen to your stuff you truly do give me that little push to try and love myself. You are the man and I wish nothing but the best for you. Keep on keepin’ on and I’ll try everyday to do the same. Much love! PS send the same vibes to Psy I wish I was as brave as her to be my true self.
I was homeless for about a year in high school, my sister. mom. and I lived in a car and on friends couches for that time. It's a hard life and I'd say we had it pretty easy compared to how it could have been. I hope everyone can find a warm place this winter!
I applied for disability from the US government on April 1, 2013. I still haven't received any benefits from the government. The way the sick are treated in this country is deplorable. I hope it's better for those that live in other countries.
You left out the best example, Jules! Camp Falconbats in Charlie Murder! It puts you through the full gambit of a bad trip. You get the trip, the comedown in a gross bathroom, a literal battle with your own nervous system, and finally the horror of realizing what you've done once you sober up. Seriously! Check it out!
Old as dirt but on brand for this was the Text game Rockstar (or Superstar, if you bought it) . While trying to get a band of the ground, you're constantly offered drugs, and might take the wrong ones by mistake .. messing up texts, pushing your health and sanity, and even flipping yes and no choices.
I remember that LOTRO quest. It's not even the weirdest one in the game -- there are a lot of quests that genuinely feel as if they're trips (or were made by someone on a trip).
YAY! Mutant Football League finally gets a mention! That game is just so much fun and really funny! If you ever played the Mutant League Football and Hockey games on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, this is the spiritual successor from the same creator.
If you think about it, the entirety of Super Mario Bros sounds like a drug trip. A plumber consumes Flowers and Mushrooms and Glowing Stars for power ups to fight walking mushrooms, turtles, flying fish and jellyfish while clouds and buses look at you with their eyes and you go down pipes...
Jules, as someone that has seen Meth Dealers and users. Yea you are way to clean you would definitely be an undercover cop 😂 (Midwest US, Meth is an epidemic)
I’m telling my kids, when I have them that is, of the bowler hat story. Might as well add my own touch to it as well so they don’t touch shoes, scarves, or gloves lying around on the ground either.
One day, a video game will finally get rid of the wavy gravy technicolor slowmo blur, and give a true simulation. Mid mission, it hits. And you just kinda stop what you're doing. Character speed debuff by 60%. Then, a random tv starts playing an episode of COPS. And you move towards the tv, and position the camera to watch this full episode of a 90s real-cop show on the in-game tv. Your npc buddy calls you, starts asking where you are, and lore dumping, and you hit the 'skip' button, because you can't hear the show. After the credits and theme song, you snap out of it. And realized you failed the mission. There ya go. Getting lore-accurate faded.
The fact that the drug sequence from the OG Max Payne isnt on here, is a crime. Its literally the worst levels in video games EVER, let alone drug influenced levels!
I don’t like that they implied Gandalf and Radaghast smoked weed in the movies. Seems like something a wizard wouldn’t do, needing a clear mind for magic and stuff. It was more subtle in the lotr… but the Hobbit was Radaghast was ridiculous.
Pity this was a deep cut edition because I was expecting to see uncharted 3 where nate gets shot in the neck with an lsd dart & at the start of the last act where nate drinks some lsd water from the fountain at iram of the pillars.
Someone in my family told me i would get sucked to the center of the earth when you step off the path at Yellowstone. I believed it until i was like 14. Its ok man.
I've been homeless for about 10 years. This is AFTER I got sober so some days I wonder why I ever did? Sober 12 years. Even with a master's and two bachelor's I can't get work or a leg up for things like showers and clothes. Never thought that after all my hard work the first half of my life that this would be the result. But my government will gladly give me a free phone. Yay. SMDH
If you're watching this and your Irish and facing homelessness cope is the name of the charity you should go to if you are under 23 then it's jigsaw. I was homeless for a year and half got sick lost my job and couldn't pay my rent so I left, cope helped me get back on my feet and I promise they'll help you too so please don't be too ashamed to ask for help there are people out there who really do care about you and want to help.
Homeless people are homeless because they are bums and junkies and unwilling to do what they need to have a home. Those who aren't completely dysfunctional addicts have resources to help them and can and do find homes and support. Let's not pretend this is all one homogeneous group in need of "compassion" or that giving drugs, money or property to drug addicts is at all compassionate and not just enabling further abuse, always at the expense of functional people and taxpayers who want to use the parks with their kids but can't because they're full of violent bums and used needles on the playgrounds.
Homelessness is only on the rise and as someone who has spent much of her life homeless, it’s difficult, terrifying, and a huge pit that can be impossible to climb out of on your own.
I truly hope everyone finds themselves always homed and safe. 💖
Thanks for shining a light on this game Jules and FGS.
Wow that last entry was a very deep cut indeed. Thank you fgs for a great episode and Jules for your truly compassionate thoughts 🙌🙌
I love Jules so much. His positivity has help me so much. So thankful for his voice online

Me too, during co-vid, with my two kids, it...was devastating. I feel for you. I'm glad life got better

Beautiful ending ❤ You're a wonderful man!

The Grange Hill section absolutely killed me 😂😂😂😂😂 Jules, excellent breakdown was comedy gold!

Love you Jules

Truly deep cuts. Never heard of any of these. Awesome!
I subbed to this channel just for you Jules and your kindness always shines through ❤
To add a game series, the Shadowrun trilogy allows you to buy performance enhancing drugs that typically raise a stat or two but lowers another. I haven’t seen any kind of addiction mechanic though.
This is the sort of video that deserves to be boosted ❤
That was beautiful. Thank you. God bless you and anyone going through a hard time. May you see the light soon. ❤

Ngl the drugs giving you powers and then making you slowly lose everything is the best depiction a game can give.
To quote the great Mitch Hedberg. "I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too."

Jules, you made me cry and that is a damned hard thing to do. Thank you for that curveball.
I feel like this list is made specifically for me! Jules is always invited to my blunt rotation!
smoked a bowl in celebration of this list and then came back to watch this and forgot what we were listing
ok but why you gotta make me cry like that at the end tho? Love you Jules thanks for being a cool dude

Jules, please never change. The end of your videos are always the best part.
Jules you truly are an awesome man. Amazing video

Ask how the medical system is in Burma
Yooo, I've never heard anyone cover MFL! Such a good alternative sports game! Thanks for the deep cut, you're a Ledge!

Much respect, egg man. I was a homeless teen. It's nice to see people making a difference.
the title of the video is a work of art.
Pipe weed is canonically tobacco. Jackson exaggerated it.
I saw the title and I was like must watch haha but aye nice just got a little cooler if you do smoke 💨 weed that is 😂🤘
Please do a list of the top 10 in-game transformations/conversions. E.g. Quake 4 stroggification or Resistant's Chimaera conversion

Mutant Football League is the spiritual successor to Mutant League Football from the 90s on SEGA.

His church of the cosmic skull shirts let me know all I need to know about his view on drugs 😂
Dang, I thought GTA v was gonna be on here for sure. This was indeed a deep deep cut.

You should check out the drug options in a game called "scum"... tobacco, weed...and psychadaelic 'shroom (tell the raven i said "high")
Pipeweed is just premium tobacco as per JRRT.

As an American I would have never heard of Grange Hill if it weren't for Spaced. It sounds like a young republicans version of Degrassi.
Come on Jules, just a deep cut video on flash/browser games. Just do it. People would enjoy it. You have enough millennials in the audience

Mutant League Football was a Sega game or SNES game or both
