I’m a CU alum and have lived in Boulder for 32 years. So I’m trying to be objective, but I think what AD Rick George did by hiring Deion Sanders will turn out to be one of the most important, transitional and downright historic things to happen to the NCAA in many years.
We’re witnessing the collision of HBCU and NCAA and I believe it’s going to change everything.

Don't fall too in love with him Chief. This kind of intensity won't last forever, at least at one place for more than a couple of years. Besides, eventually some smart college defensive coach is going to figure out he needs two complete defensive units to play & alternate series. Until that happens, no one is going to stop Colorado except the injury bug.

Im rooting for you all to succeed but sadly it's the worst thing to ever happen for HBCUs. Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders had legitimate chance to be 1st round picks in the NFL even had they stayed at Jackson State. That could have officially opened the floodgates of JSU being a legitimate NFL pipeline and could have led to an ultimate power move of JSU being the first HBCU to get into a Power 5 conference which would have led to them getting that TV money. That was the ultimate blueprint, one that Prime even at one point pitched. But his heart wasn't in it for the long run. Im not going to fault him for it, and he had every right to leave, but the legacy he could have led behind if he stayed would have been far greater than anything he could accomplish in Boulder even winning a national title. Without hyperbole, Deion could go down in history as one of the most influential man in history alongside ppl like MLK Jr and Frederick Douglass. That's the level of impact he could have made.

    • @vasantos-re4hb

No, what you're seeing is Deion bullying your administration. He's using you guys as a stepping stone. You guys better have a backup plan when they can't cough up $29 Million and he bolts for a bigger program like USC. His son is going to the NFL in 2 years. If Colorado finishes top 8 and wins their bowl game, it will be a tremendous accomplishment.

To be shocked by Colorado's success shows you haven't been paying attention. 70 players who left were part of one of the worst teams in college football history. Deion brought in a lot of speed on offense, including the #2 and #1 WRs from South Florida. Shedeur Sanders was recruited by all the blue bloods of college football, including Alabama and Georgia. Also, he poached top assistants from Alabama and Texas A&M. And last but not least, he brought in one of the brightest offensive minds to be his OC in Sean Lewis, who gave up a head coaching position. If the players and coaches he brought in were of equal talent as last year's team, then yes, it would be easy to be shocked by the win over TCU. But, they upgraded in every way.

The difference between the divisions is the depth due to scholarships and the size of the lineman on both sides of the ball. Even with all the drafted players they apparently lost the voters still thought enough of TCU to think only 16 teams were going to be better than them this year & so far it seems it's 17 which is still pretty good can we give Deion and Colorado credit without the "yeah but.."?

You are WRONG! TCU is good. They didn't lose the whole team to the transfer portal. Yet Colorado has over 70% of their players who came through the transfer portal. If the truth was told, Colorado beat TCU fair and square. To offer the nonsense excuse that TCU is not very good is to discredit both coaches for the job they've done and to bring reproach to young men who gave it their all on the field. Sadly, that's the way it is with commentators who didn't make it as players but who pretentiously give their nonsensical views about something they failed in. Sad, indeed!!!
