If John thought any part of Tennessee belonged in that game then we watched 2 different games. Tennessee's defense were so outmatched Ohio State could've won by 50 if they had kept their starters in. Howard was throwing for over 10 yards per pass attempt and completed 24 of 29 and that was in the frigid cold where the ball is hard as a rock. But here's what no one is talking, in a smaller playoff, even an 8 team playoff, Ohio State wasn't even top 2 in the Big 10, they wouldn't have gotten in to the playoff and now they're Colin's pick to win it all. Any other year Ohio State would've played Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl or something and that would've been the end of their season. We would've been sitting here wondering what would've happened if Ohio Sate had gotta chance to play for the title. Also I think the home playoff game is simultaneously cool for the playoffs and horrible. Some of these venues are just too cold to have a good game.
Wait… cold weather is a huge part of football. It’s a game created and flourished in Northern Ohio. It’s as much part of the game as the gear they play in.
Middlekauff might as well wait for April and see who got the most guys drafted and then hand that team the title. Hell why wait that long, just hand out titles who who recruited better the previous year
What they are saying is nonsense. It doesn't matter who plays in the first round, so I'm not upset with Indiana and SMU. What shouldn't happen is giving a team a pass based on their history -- such as Alabama. Just because some of the first round teams lost, doesn't mean they shouldn't have been in the game. It's one thing to have it like the four-team playoff. When it was expanded, the intent was to allow more teams to have a chance (SMU, Clemson, etc.)
let’s end right now the fiction that the games that are played in domed stadiums or stadiums in fair weather areas are at “neutral sites.”. They aren’t. If you are gonna put teams in the play off just based on talent, then why even bother playing games? Just rank the teams early in the season based on recruiting and don’t even bother playing 12 games a season
Exactly, still gotta play games and the 3 SEC teams lost 3 games. You can have all the talent in the world but still not won games. Look at the Bengals and 49ers this year. Top talent but just not going there way. Do they get a free pass in the NFL just cause they have top talent?! Lol no way.
In a ways, that’s basically what the BCS was and you could get away with it because people genuinely gave up on the notion of their teams ever being national championships so instead were all in on just making and winning a bowl game.
We don’t live in that reality anymore, just as improbable as it is for a wildcard team to win it all in the NBA or MLB or NFL, it’s not THAT impossible to win as a lower seed in the CFB, were not going to see super teams like Alabama anymore
College Football is about rewarding excellence and the clear best teams, not about who is most deserving.
SMU and Indiana had no business being invited to the playoffs over Alabama and South Carolina.
@@Thegigachad248why didn’t they? Alabama lost to 2 6-6 teams and South Carolina lost to every decent team they played all year accept A&M and Clemson. Let’s not forget Alabama lost to Tennessee a team just got boat raced by 30.

It really depends on the strengths of the teams.

Why are people who don’t watch college football talking about college football.
We are blaming the committee instead of bama ole miss etc going out and losing to teams they shouldn’t lose to smh
Right! I don't care if we got blowouts this past weekend. I'm not crying for these "bubble" teams, which failed to handle their business. Colin and this other guy just apparently want to make the regular season totally meaningless. That very flawed 9-3 Alabama team, for example, was not going to win a natty this year. Bama's in the same boat as SMU, Clemson, Indiana etc: all flawed teams.
@ exactly winning the games have to matter. You can’t beat one or two good teams then lose to teams who it shouldn’t be close to then try and say well we beat these teams tho.
So Colorado could beat Indiana? Go ask Matt Ruhle and Nebraska who they would rather play again. How can this dude be taken seriously about college football. Stick to the pro's. "Tennessee's quarterback was throwing the ball all over the field"....14/31 for 104 yards is hardly throwing the ball all over the field. It would just kill these guys to admit that an SEC team didn't belong in the playoff just as much as Indiana or SMU
I mean he wasn’t wrong. He was throwing the ball, sadly it was to the turf.
Indiana gave Ohio State a MUCH better game than Tennessee did. I don’t understand why SMU and Indiana are getting crap when they were more competitive in their playoff game than Tennessee was. And no one is saying Tennessee did not belong. 🤔

Just let Vegas set the 1-12 seeds. 1-4 could still get a bye. I guarantee they would get it right 🤣
Teams that get coverage gets recruits. Both Indiana and SMU will not be as good but will actually benefit from being marketed and be positioned to build. Of course they will need to make the most of being seen. If they can finish high enough to be included again.
