Three incredibly articulate professionals. I especially appreciated Femke Bol's gracious self reflection on what was clearly a disappointing race for her.
What was disappointing about it? Nobody who really been watching Sidney from jump ever thought this was a real competition. Delilah Muhammad the only one to really push Sidney and that was 2 world records ago. Media hyped this up, but real one know it was never gonna be that close.
@@youngboy2140she’s the second fastest woman of all time in this event and it’s not all that close, so I think it’s certainly disappointing to finish in third under that context. She herself said in the mixed zone that she was disappointed, she ran over a second slower than her PB.

Yes, here, but everything is inappropriate before in our European surrounding ... Femke should have never missed the silver medal. She scattered herself as her federation managed the program. Disgusted.
Yes that's where she needs to go. Nothing to prove in the 400m hurdles. The open 400m is where she could make REAL HISTORY. And break that suspect east German record of 47.60. That has stood for 39 years.
@couloir1 For me it’s the other way around (I’m Dutch), but Sydney obviously deserves all credits, she has been amazing these Olympics. Anna seems like a lovely person as well, and it’s great to see how they respect each other. We live in great times 😊
One beautiful thing about track and field is you can have respect and be a fan of everyone. My sons and I are all throwers and during the men’s shot we are cheering Crouser, Kovacs, Tom Walsh, Otterdahl, big fans of Chuck, etc. Track is definitely better when the competition is fierce but there is mutual respect between the competitors. Great race ladies!! The 400 hurdles is definitely a premier event because of you and Delilah.

@@desireewilliams4462 Her pace in semi isn't relevant, she just did what needed to qualify for the finale, just like any other athlete who has a significant margin over his opponents in his qualifying round in his category. Femke Bol pace in finale was well of she can do ( she ran under 51s less than a month ago and has multiples chrono in 51s)

Femke is such a class act. She seeked no excuses and was so honest about her poor performance. Huge respect for her character. EDIT: In response to many fair comments: 52.15 was a poor performance *for Bol's standards*. To give some perspective: It was even slower than her final in 2021 Tokyo Olympics where she ran 52.03. In 2022 she ran a bunch of 52s in the diamond leagues. In 2023 she ran 51.70 in the world champs final and 51.45 in London. One month before Paris Olympics she ran 50.95 in Switzerland and 51.30 in London. And just to be clear: She would still have not beaten Syd's amazing world record but the silver would have been a walk in the park if she just did a normal run for her standards. That is why I praise her character for finding no excuses after such a bad race for her :)
It's called 'choking on the apple' and this is the second time I've seen her wilt like a wet Tulip. When severe pressure surrounds her, Femke just doesn't do well under this kind of pressure.

@@NewJackBlackMan I root for Femke because she is Dutch (like me) and because she is a fenomenal athlete and a lovely lady with a great personality, who does not discriminate. O and I also root for Gabby Thomas. I think she is fantastic.
@NewJackBlackMan since when is being of mixed origin or any origin gives you the right to label anyone "black"? What is black? A culture? An origin? A heritage? No, it is just a colour label and nobody on Earth is black. All the time this stupid Black and White comments, it makes me puke. We have people with cultural and geographical ancestors not ancestors of colours, the people that still name it like that nowadays they just want to be put in a box of black and white. Sydney should have been the flag bearer for the United States. She is the ultimate athlete with so much class whenever she speaks. She is the best role model and a great representation of the U.S. athletes.
Anna ran an excellent race and for certain her Grandparents were in her thoughts and would be proud of her. Femke when asked if running previously in the relay tired her and affected the outcome of this race, categorically said No. She may have lost the race but she gained something much more important - total respect! Sydney praised God for giving her such a wonderful gift and when asked where this win and race stood compared to all her other achievements, results and experiences said this one was most important (not refering once to the actual race, result or record) because all her family were there with her, unlike her two previous Olympics, and that when her career in running was over she could look back on it, at photos and recapture the memories of the time. Kudos to all three.
So proud of Sydney! She always gives thanks and credit to God for her good health and awesome athletic abilities! GO UNION CATHOLIC HS 🎉❤💙👍🌹🙏🌹🙏🌹🙏🎉💗🎁🎈⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💙♥️🎉
Sydney is a warrior in a real professional team. Beloved Femke lives in a pink theater, a blind European mentality, a pink theater that miss the wright goals and manages the final crash.
Crazy that on a press conference video where every athlete was very classy and talking with respect, people still find a way to try and bash one of the athletes "in name of" another. Most so-called "fans" can learn a lot from these ladies ...

They need to evaluate what happened there.....going out "too quick and dying" is a palpable answer but also displays "poor race plan execution". Bol and Lieke have a habit of being more "giddy" leading up to a race compared to other athletes. It is their way of staying "relaxed". Yes, here, but everything is inappropriate before in our European surrounding ... Femke should have never missed the silver medal. She scattered herself as her federation managed the program. Disgusted.
sydney and Femke are both class acts, no excuse from femke. amazing.
ALL 3 of them are class acts. They all handled themselves with such grace.
Sydney you are an inspiration for anyone trying to be their very best! Thank you.
Congratulations to Anna and Femke!
Not enough comments focused on the GOAT. So here I am. Sydney. I love you. Keep shining. Sub 50 is coming!
it's what happens when their great white hope loses.
@@SirGenesis206 I agree! Sydney is the GOAT! Give her ALL her flowers 💐
Sub 50 would actually be crazy. I would be mind blown
I really like Sydney and would like to see her take down the 400m world record. Actually more than the 50 in Hurdles.
But… I just love Femke.
Yes that's where she needs to go. Nothing to prove in the 400m hurdles. The open 400m is where she could make REAL HISTORY. And break that suspect east German record of 47.60. That has stood for 39 years.
After seeing this press conference I'm a fan of Femke Bol but will always root for Sydney.
All three demonstrated such class...... That is how true athletes should act. I was proud of all of them. The openness of Anna, the humility of Sydney, and the honestly of Femke.
Well said.
Track runners have the reputation for being very smart. It was very well reflected by these smart eloquent women.
All three made their country proud, well done ladies!
Femke Bol was well off her usual pace but she showed what a gracious selfless endearing role model she is. Well done to all 3 great athletes.
She ran just like she ran for the semi
Great race well done 🙏👍❤️🎉💐
@@desireewilliams4462 Her pace in semi isn't relevant, she just did what needed to qualify for the finale, just like any other athlete who has a significant margin over his opponents in his qualifying round in his category. Mc-Laughlin ran the semi over 52s and guess what, it isn't her usual pace either... Femke Bol pace in finale was well of she can do ( she ran under 51s less than a month ago and has multiples chrono in 51s)
@@yannicklucas1836 she ran her finals very similar to her semis.
Bet u Anna found it relevant that's why she made her move when she did.
And if the other American and Jamaican had moved with Anna when she moved with Bol ...i'll leave the rest unsaid.
What is that supposed to mean? She was never going to be Sydney in this particular race. Get over it and stop trying to discredit folks
Femke is such a class act. She seeked no excuses and was so honest about her poor performance. Huge respect for her character.
EDIT: In response to many fair comments: 52.15 was a poor performance *for Bol's standards*. To give some perspective:
It was even slower than her final in 2021 Tokyo Olympics where she ran 52.03.
When severe
pressure surrounds her, Femke just doesn't do well under this kind of pressure.
let's be honest, she was only winning because she wasn't competing with the best! It made her look the best but in reality she wasnt! hahaha
@@yiiitbiiythat s not true she had a really bad race for her now, femke can normally also run sub 51 sec

@NewJackBlackMan since when is being of mixed origin or any origin gives you the right to label anyone "black"? What is black? A culture? An origin? A heritage? No, it is just a colour label and nobody on Earth is black. All the time this stupid Black and White comments, it makes me puke. Sydney should have been the flag bearer for the United States. She is the ultimate athlete with so much class whenever she speaks. She is the best role model and a great representation of the U.S. athletes.
Anna is an impressive person and athlete. She has a lot to say.
2:09 - Anna Cockrell is such an incredible interview subject. She is totally my “track crush”. So impressed with her this season.
SYDNEY CLASS BY HERSELF
Say it louder for the peeps in the back. She's in a lane of her own and people should never put her in the same bracket as Femke.. she's beyond.
It really is a race for silver when she’s involved. She’s competing against nothing else but herself.

@@_MicZ_ Given how the interview went and how articulate, classy and well-spoken all the ladies were you’d figure the comments would be civil. It’s honestly baffling the need some people have to want to tear down one athlete in order to prop up their favorite.

They need to evaluate what happened there.....going out "too quick and dying" is a palpable answer but also displays "poor race plan execution".
Bol and Lieke have a habit of being more "giddy" leading up to a race compared to other athletes. It is their way of staying "relaxed". In this case this typical Dutch approach may have backfired as they both never really got into their race.
