I've spent days watching countless comparison videos with so many degrading the Flip when compared to high-end professional models. Your video is the best at showcasing both side by side without strict bias. Thank you for taking your time to share this very informative video.
The comparison I was looking for! Thank you! It's my first drone, and it makes sense to start out with the Flip for the identical camera and sensor with that sweet 10bit D-LOG M 😃
I don't think the two drones will be any different in terms of image quality. Both record in 4k 100 and have D-Log, but in terms of obstacle avoidance the Mini 4 Pro is ahead. Nevertheless, the flip is an exciting drone for this price.
Great video man! it's actually mind blowing how far drone tech has come in just 10 years! I remember in 2014 we were happy if our drone could maintain an image signal up to like 400meters! 🤣🤣
I’ll never forget the original Phantom 2 GoPro struggle to transmit video. $1249 for just a naked drone with no camera or mount, $349 for a two axis gimbal, $399 for a GoPro 3 Black, $139 2.4ghz transmitter and receiver, $89 for OSD upgrade, $79 for BlueBeam antennas…
We gotta give DJI credit. I know they are quite pricey on some drones but they still open entry level prices. They really sticked to their goal, "Everyone can fly". This was their motto when they only had inspire, phantom pro on their shelf.
I own the mini pro 4 and cannot understate just how much ahead of the curve this drone was. This is truly an amazing drone! So glad I decided to go with it instead of mini 3 pro.
Wow I must say this was very informative and the structure of your videos is top notch. Very very impressed with this content. Big up Cape Town and big up SA. I am only discovering this channel now.
I bring my mini 4 pro and Neo with me all the time so combining both those drone together, will save space for sure. mind you the flip looks big even when folded
I also have the Neo then upgraded to the Mini 4 Pro after a month. When you travel with your drones, do you bring two separate controllers? I'm thinking of bringing both of my drones on an upcoming trip but just want to bring the RC2
For anyone reading the comment, I'm gonna buy my first drone. Torn between Flip and Mini 3 because of similar price point. I know the Flip will perform worse than the Mini in windy situation. But watching from Luke video, the video captured from Flip still looks good and not shaky even in the strong wind. I mainly gonna use it for my job as a wedding videographer, and of the location will be beaches. Based on your experience, is it still okay to use drone that perform not so good in windy situation? I prefer the Flip because of the D-log and propeller guard (will help me as a beginner). Thank you for your answer!
If you need to be quiet then Mini 3 is a better option. But Flip is awesome and safe to fly around people. Wedding doesn’t need to be high speed shots so even if it is windy Flip will get you get shots
Nice comparison video! I already have the Neo and aiming to get a new one. Either Mini 4 pro or flip. Now I am confused which to choose 😅 Flip will save me more bucks but I think its function are already very similar to Neo with a better camera.
DJI Mini 4 Pro is over a year old (16 months) and a new one could probably be on a horizon. I do have it and love it for filming on places where I can not use my Mavic 3 Pro.
@ragboysinterestinglife I would say the Mini 4 Pro, because it is quieter and can fly better in stronger winds. And with the plus battery you get very good flight time. But to be honest I prefer the bigger drones like Air and Mavic series
Awesome video!!! I noticed that many of the clips looked slowed down, which gave a really beautiful effect. As a newer creator I'm always on the lookout for advice. I'm wondering what frame rate you shot those clips at 30fps?? And what software are you using for post editing? Thanks, and again, this was a great video to watch!!!
You mention the little difference of the obstacle avoidance but it's a huge difference hence the price difference the avoidance also has camera view on its obstacle cameras there's a reason the price gap is so big it's a more powerful drone aimed at professionals more than amateurs
Yeah this is a top tier review and just to add a thought: if you just need something for a bit of aerial B-Roll, establishing shots or social media content then there’s no need to nitpick, get the cheaper drone it does an incredible job for the price. If you’re wanting to offer a professional service and need high quality images you shouldn’t be looking at the mini drones anyway, invest in a Mavic or even an Air. Watching this on my phone, I would have to strain to see any significant difference in image quality and guess what? The casual consumer isn’t pausing and zooming in to your video, content>definition.
Great video, thanks. The fly without a controller footage on the beach looked super steady. Did that require a lot of stabilisation in post? It looked pretty windy there.
Thanks for comparison, I think obstacle avoidance is much more important for a beginner. So I'm more sure I should buy the Mini 4 Pro after watching your video.
Bro your shots are incredible! Thanks for this, just like The Drone Creative's review, I think you've pushed me toward the Mini 4 Pro. If buying used the price difference is relatively minimal...
"The Drone Creative" Channel didnt recommend it because its not possible to get stable footage under winding conditions. How YOU manage that? And did you fly the Mini 4 Pro and Flip at the same time? Or was there another pilot i didnt recognize.
Oh that’s strange, I got lots of good footage while it was very windy. I wonder if there was a problem with his unit… I was flying them at the same time for some of the shots, and I was flying them one after another for other shots
Interesting review, thanks. I understand that the Flip doesn’t permit waypoints while Pro does. As it’s only software, I don’t understand why not. Do you think DJI will add waypoints to the Flip in the future?
Thank you so much for the amazing video! It definitely convinced me to buy the Flip. I’m based in South Africa and was wondering if there are any taxes or additional fees to consider when purchasing it from the DJI store. Thanks again for the great content!
No worries! If you are buying in SA rather wait till local suppliers like IStore or Orms stock it. If you order overseas you will pay important duties and VAT when it arrives
Thanks for the review, ordered the flip to get my feet wet and use inside my shop. Especially if the mini 5 pro released this year ill have the RC2 controller already and maybe less buyers remorse 😅
There is one more feature which is important and missing here. It is follow up with the obstacle avoidance. And from my experience Mini 4 Pro does beat Flip with a quite of margin. The rest of the review is an excellent job.
If you can just tell me, does this camera shoot straight down as well? I ask because I had the first DJI FPV drone and the max angle I can get to point down was 15 degrees. I think getting this drone would be a great option if it can shoot straight down for real estate and roof inspections.
And apparently not avoidance just brakes so useless in tight areas while in following mode. Could end up being worse than the Neo that may clip objects and carry on while the Flip will just stop

Are these cameras really identical? I watched another review that shows the Flip's camera is not as sharp or as good as the Mini 4 Pro. But your review is the most beautiful. Thanks!
Yeh from what I have found they are essentially identical. Who said that the camera isn’t as good? Either they didn’t actually compare it or don’t really know what they are doing 😂
@LukeMaximoBell1 I have watched almost all the videos, and I didn't like the footage. Maybe the people filming didn't do a good job. I even asked someone, "If you compare the Mini 3 Pro, Flip, and Mini 4 Pro in terms of camera sharpness, what do you think?" The answer was, "It can only be compared with the Mini 3 Pro
@ No probs. I love your videos and I am a Captonian. I’m still in England since 2002. Miss Cape Town every day. Time Out gave Cape Town the top city in the World prize this year. I fly a Mavice 2 zoom . I use that to chase cruise ships near Southampton .Might get the flip as a sub 249g drone .Cheers :-)
Should I get it as an upgrade for the Neo? But I have the RC 2 already isn't it better to get extra battery or do I sell the second controller? Or give it to my wife?
Great video man! I'm thinking of getting a new smaller drone than my air 3, I mainly want to film myself running and cycling, which one you think I should get? Mini 3 pro or 4 pro or the flip? Thank you in advance !
good afternoon. I would like to know about wind resistance in the following condition: I plan to buy the FLIP but both you and other people say that the mini 4 pro is more resistant, but my use is very specific. I will use it to carry out building inspections, inspect facades and roofs, terraces of buildings and facades and roofs of warehouses, therefore I will deal with situations sometimes with a WIND CORRIDOR as I will be between two or three buildings, in the gap between towers and with the possibility of facing wind corridor. Also regarding the possibility of collisions and damage, the Flip, as it is cheaper, will have a lower repair cost and due to the trimmings it will also be safer when falling, can you give me your opinion?
Good question. With the chance of a wind corridor definitely go for a Mini 4 Pro. If you have ominidirectional obstacle avoidance on while flying you will likely not hit anything with Mini 4 Pro. However because you are doing inspections it might be better to go for the Air 3 or 3S because it handles wind even better, has better battery life and most importantly it has the 3X Len’s which will help hugely with your inspections
Great review! 👏 I’m wondering if there are any differences in the follow functions between the Flip and Mini 4 Pro? Which one would you recommend as a follow drone for activities such as trail biking, bike park riding, and alpine skiing?
The Flip is great for a follow drone because you don’t need a controller. The Mini is always going to require the controller which is annoying. In terms of actual following they will probably be pretty similar
Oh yes it will be a huge upgrade over the Mini 2. Better battery life, much better camera, better wind resistance, more features etc. would be a great upgrade for you 🙌🏼
That eagle shot is beautiful. You've really sold me on the FLIP, I just recently got the Osmo Pocket 3 and the DJI action 5, and I feel like that FLIP would be a fantastic addition for my first drone. I wonder how it would be as a bts follow cam for when I'm shooting projects (I mainly work with Blackmagic Ursa's and pockets for my video work), but since the osmo / action is good enough quality to cut into for specialised shots, I can't see why the FLIP footage can't be used with my blackmagic cameras either, especially with the visuals you've shown here.
That’s a great question. The answer depends on what you want to use the drones for. If you want to fly FPV then 100% keep the Neo. If you want to use it like a normal camera drone and for quick shots etc, then I would sell the Neo and get the Flip. It does all of that WAY better than the Neo does
Yeah. The flip and mini 4 pro are just a straight upgrade in basically every way. The flip and m4p have pros and cons, so it mainly comes down to preference on the specific features you want. The flip will be closer to the Neo in terms of feature set if you like what it offers, but just better all around. The mini 4 pro just adds 360 obstacle avoidance and the ability use larger >250g batteries. But if battery life while over 250g and side/rear obstacle avoidance are irrelevant to you, then the flip is better. If the flip had omni sensors, then it would be the best sub 250g drone.
Hmm this is a tricky one to answer… If I were buying one or the other today I would go for the Flip. But I don’t think it’s really worth upgrading right now.
Im a begginer in droning, I need to shot profesional quality shots and videos of houses inside and outside Do you think the flip will be enough or better to go with pro?
Using prices from DJI web store. RC2$369, RCN3$129, Battery$65, Charging Hub$49, DJI Sling Bag$89. If we look at the three Flip packages available, then the DJI Flip DRONE ONLY pricing should be between $142 - $270 - $310. Therefore I'm guessing that DJI may sell the DRONE ONLY for $349 or hopefully less.🤞
I'm looking for a beginner drone for my first timer, should i go for the mini 3 pro or the flip? The wind resistant, the ease of handling and price are pretty similar.
Buy the Neo crash it over and over without much risk of damage. And it's cheap! Great to learn to fly, then when you have learned not to crash upgrade something better
@@LukeMaximoBell1 yea i think i have to go for the flip, but does it have any downsides or differeneces in the wind resistant, does it affect too much to the video or the drone ?
@@gregb1599 i did consider the Neo before but in my city, the wind this a big thing for the Neo, and the battery is too low, especially in windy condition.
@duongchau4371 Fair enough, the strongest wind I had my Neo in was 45kph in which it crashed lol but zero damage, it was actually a wind gust that flipped it over. The Flip battery is not that great at 24 minutes but around 10 more minutes than the Neo, but at 3110mah the Flip has very poor efficiency! I was hoping the Flip would have a robust front crash avoidance, but one video showed it crashing into a lamp post. And the same review definitely said the Flip is far less robust than the Neo.
FYI i have been trying to purchase the 4 pro through the DJI site for the past month, delivered to the US But it got stopped at customs Tried twice, same results They said they would refund me but haven't yet
Considering both drones, I'm all for the quieter voice of the 4 Pro, and the more complete obstacle avoidance. The only thing I prefer about the Flip are the propeller guards. I was thinking that aftermarket prop guards would solve that for the 4 Pro, but after watching reviews of the various kinds, they're not a great solution. They actually nullify the obstacle avoidance, and make the drone work much harder in wind.
Cool video. I didn’t even know there was a new DJI drone coming out. I hope DJI gives us the option for the mini 4 pro to fly without a controller with a software update, when we need it for follow mode. That would be the cream of the crop 👌🏻
Mini 4 Pro definitely better, but if they actually sold this one standalone, I might get one. It is kinda like the neo, and maybe could be fun to use with a phone, etc.
@ I couldn’t find it on their website, they sold the regular kit which comes with the RC-N3, or the kit with the RC2, or the Fly More Combo, no drone only option in the DJI store…
@@LukeMaximoBell1 , for professionals like you sure, but for most of us bumping against, instead of crashing i n t o a wall/obstacle is a better deal filming indoors compared to a M4P (even with external guards from my experience) despite its better flying capabilities😅. BTW, I really appreciate the work, thought and detail you put into your balanced approach during reviews to address the the main questions honestly and full on. You are one of the few here on YT who don't hastely rush through some superficial comparisons during a drone review, but who goes through tremendous length to actually show them in detail in a very informative and entertaining way!
For me, I drive on offroad trails and camp. I’m contemplating the flip to save the propellers being around lotttsss of trees on my adventures. Also, to play with the active track and follow modes. I cannot find if I can set it to actually follow my truck driving slow on offroad trails?? Or does it have to be a person?? Seems like I could maybe draw that box around the truck with the screen controller??? Any help would be awesome!! Flip vs mini 3 for me.
@ if you need better wind resistance and can’t afford the Mini 4 Pro then Mini 3 is a good option. The camera is better on Flip vs Mini 3 and it’s got a better transmission system which is why I prefer it

What difference did you find on the sensor? They both use a 1/1.3" 48MP sensor with 24mm f1.7 lens
@@MrCoffisthe image processing power of the M4P is higher than
@ hmm well at least it’s not apparent when looking at dji’s website. Both do 150Mbps at 10 bit so …idk
Considering the lesser wind resistance do you think it would be a good upgrade from the mini 3 non pro?
Yeh I would say it’s a good upgrade from the Mini 3 🙌🏼
Definitely getting the Flip 🔥
Nice! If you order from DJI website please use my link in the description
The mini 4 pro is definitely better but with the price difference I might as well get the Mavic
@LukeMaximoBell1
I have watched almost all the videos, and I didn't like the footage. Maybe the people filming didn't do a good job. I even asked someone, "If you compare the Mini 3 Pro, Flip, and Mini 4 Pro in terms of camera sharpness, what do you think?" The answer was, "It can only be compared with the Mini 3 Pro
Excellent video thank you! Quick correction: The flip does not have a lidar at front but infrared.
Yes you are right! Sorry about the slip up
Whats the maximum height we can fly dji flip?
Same as Mini 4 Pro I believe it’s 500m
Should I get it as an upgrade for the Neo? But I have the RC 2 already isn't it better to get extra battery or do I sell the second controller? Or give it to my wife?
The Flip is definitely an upgrade from the Neo
Would the FLIP be good for indoor real estate videos?
Yeh you could use it for that. Would be nice because of the bumpers. But maybe Avata 2 is better?
@LukeMaximoBell1 hmmm wondering which has better camera/low light capability
@@PropertiesForSaleInJamaica Flip will have better low light performance because of it's larger aperture.
@@LukeMaximoBell1 Thanks
The flip looks very promising!
It’s awesome!
I’ll wait for the Neo 2 , think that bodyshape with a better battery is the better option, don’t really like the flip looks either
I’m curious to see what the Neo 2 can do. Would be great if it had a small 3 axis gimbal and more powerful motors
Great video man! I'm thinking of getting a new smaller drone than my air 3, I mainly want to film myself running and cycling, which one you think I should get? Mini 3 pro or 4 pro or the flip? Thank you in advance !
Honestly I would probably go for the Flip. It’s the easiest to use for follow shots and works really well for it
good afternoon.
The Flip can currently only track people! So all mini drones are better at tracking!
Honestly I just need to know if it is better than Mini 2, seems so but any chance you can give advice?
Yeh you’ve got a great combo there already! The flip would definitely add to it 🙌🏼🙌🏼
9:38 to 9:53 your comparison shots are both from the flip. Other than that thorough review good job
Yes the one is a 12MP still and the other is 48MP
Regarding the camera comparison, aren’t they both the same camera?
Not according to DJI, but they appear to be 🙌🏼
Do you think I should sell my Neo and upgrade to the flip, I like that this one has the sensors and extended battery life
This doesn’t do FPV mode .. which is why I love the Neo. Motion controllers and goggles make it incredibly fun
That’s a great question. The answer depends on what you want to use the drones for. If you want to fly FPV then 100% keep the Neo. If you want to use it like a normal camera drone and for quick shots etc, then I would sell the Neo and get the Flip. It does all of that WAY better than the Neo does
How much you plan to sell it for?
I can't get that which drone will be the best for me . Please help me , which drone I should buy? DJI mini 4 pro or DJI Flip ???
The Flip is just so well priced that’s what I would recommend to anybody in the market for a new drone right now 🙌🏼
Very good review.❤
Thanks so much! 🙌🏼
Can I set up a custom mode on Flip that follows me from a side view?
What do you need to fly a drone for RUclips or any social media?
SA drone laws are a mess 🙈 I don’t do commercial drone flying anymore because of the admin involved.
@LukeMaximoBell1
So can not just fly any where as a hobby
@@jacquessaayman5393 No definitely not
@@LukeMaximoBell1
Where can I get approved for the fly zone
Awesome comparison. Would you recommend an upgrade to FLIP from mini 3 pro?
Hmm this is a tricky one to answer… If I were buying one or the other today I would go for the Flip. But I don’t think it’s really worth upgrading right now.
@@LukeMaximoBell1 Thanks a ton for the reply. I was thinking to hold onto mini3 pro for an year :) thank you :)
as a beginner what i should i buy in short in budget plzz tell me
The Flip is a great option! 🙌🏼
Thanks for compare dji mini 4 pro vs dji flip
No problem 🙌🏼
Im a begginer in droning, I need to shot profesional quality shots and videos of houses inside and outside
Do you think the flip will be enough or better to go with pro?
Yes I think the Flip will be a great option and it’s got prop guards in case you hit walls.
What a review 10/10 video
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 🙌🏼
Using prices from DJI web store.
They should! I think that would sell them a lot more
I'm looking for a beginner drone for my first timer, should i go for the mini 3 pro or the flip? The wind resistant, the ease of handling and price are pretty similar.
That’s a tricky one. Personally I would probably go for the Flip because of the cool quick shot modes it has built it without a controller
FYI i have been trying to purchase the 4 pro through the DJI site for the past month, delivered to the US
But it got stopped at customs
Tried twice, same results
They said they would refund me but haven't yet
What!? That’s so weird… it’s also out of stock on amaOn
Why people keep on comparing the two drones? Each model has different price range and is meant for different group of users?
Considering both drones, I'm all for the quieter voice of the 4 Pro, and the more complete obstacle avoidance. The only thing I prefer about the Flip are the propeller guards. I was thinking that aftermarket prop guards would solve that for the 4 Pro, but after watching reviews of the various kinds, they're not a great solution. They actually nullify the obstacle avoidance, and make the drone work much harder in wind.
Yeh I agree with this. The major thing the flip has going for it are the lower price and the built in prop guards
Cool video. I didn’t even know there was a new DJI drone coming out. I hope DJI gives us the option for the mini 4 pro to fly without a controller with a software update, when we need it for follow mode. That would be the cream of the crop 👌🏻
That would be cool, but I don’t think it will come because of the safety aspect with exposed propellers…
Se seras sur le mini 5 pro le suivie sans télécommande 👍😎
Mini 4 Pro definitely better, but if they actually sold this one standalone, I might get one. It is kinda like the neo, and maybe could be fun to use with a phone, etc.
It is sold standalone as well 🙌🏼
@ I couldn’t find it on their website, they sold the regular kit which comes with the RC-N3, or the kit with the RC2, or the Fly More Combo, no drone only option in the DJI store…
Cheapest option was $439, with the controller…which is unnecessary for people who already have the controller…
How far away can you fly in a round trip with a full battery on the flip??
DJI says 14km, but I would say realistically 10km with no wind
Mini 4 pro is my first drone and it's super
Yeh it’s awesome! 🙌🏼
Thanks for sharing😊
Thanks for watching 🙌🏼
Mini 4 is more compact for travel. Flip has the interesting mic option. Pick one
True 🙌🏼
Also should I get it for professional cliënt work inside a building like a car company to make shot's of cara in the showroom?
Mini 4 Pro is better for that
@@LukeMaximoBell1 , for professionals like you sure, but for most of us bumping against, instead of crashing i n t o a wall/obstacle is a better deal filming indoors compared to a M4P (even with external guards from my experience) despite its better flying capabilities😅.
BTW, I really appreciate the work, thought and detail you put into your balanced approach during reviews to address the the main questions honestly and full on.
You are one of the few here on YT who don't hastely rush through some superficial comparisons during a drone review, but who goes through tremendous length to actually show them in detail in a very informative and entertaining way!
how fast can it fly? i am curious if it could follow me in a motorcycle
No I don’t think it would be fast enough for that especially if there is wind
For me, I drive on offroad trails and camp. I’m contemplating the flip to save the propellers being around lotttsss of trees on my adventures. Also, to play with the active track and follow modes. I cannot find if I can set it to actually follow my truck driving slow on offroad trails?? Or does it have to be a person?? Seems like I could maybe draw that box around the truck with the screen controller??? Any help would be awesome!! Flip vs mini 3 for me.
I’m 90% sure it can also truck a car just as well. It has AI subject recognition!
what is the better option to choosd between flip and mini3?
In my opinion the Flip is the better choice 🙌🏼
@LukeMaximoBell1 interms of controls and image/video quality? well good thing I haven't purchased the mini 3 yet. I probably consider the flip
Do you recommend this over mini 3 ( non pro ) ?
Yes I would choose this one for sure 🙌🏼
@LukeMaximoBell1 why not mini3, can you elaborate? I was concerned about poor wind resistance in flip and wanted to opt for mini3 for that reason
@ if you need better wind resistance and can’t afford the Mini 4 Pro then Mini 3 is a good option. The camera is better on Flip vs Mini 3 and it’s got a better transmission system which is why I prefer it
does it better than mini 3?
Yes for sure 🙌🏼 nice upgrade
