Though we think it is mean to hurt a friend like that, sometimes someone telling us that there are others who are going through life and death situations may make us feel bad at the beginning but later gives us strength to fight our situation. The liberty to tell our mind to a friend this way and still know that it won't effect our friendship is the truest form. There is a lot more to see in this scene than it catches the eye.
