The reason that many Mini PCs have a VGA port, long after it's gone on most modern PCs, is the investment of large, expensive and powerful projectors such as used in conference halls. Many are connected to Mini PCs.
Too bad I am not too tech savvy I wouldn't know how to do something like this. Thanks for the info about this gaming PC. Very neat project and cool video Wicked!👉😃👈
I love These sort of videos it's nice to see how far you can push these business PC's. I really like the console size of them it is just convenient instead of tower. Enjoy your day wicked 👍
Batocera is awesome. I had some troubles with a i5-6600 computer with a GeForce GT 730 2GB with V33. Had issues with it booting, but after removing my graphics card it booted perfectly. Found out the Nvidia geforce drivers don't work with older cards. So my recommendation is to use Recalbox 8.1 or Batocera v30 (older build). Hope this helps
I was looking forward for this video, since you started with pcs. F-Zero GX actually runs extremely well on Batocera for some reason. My i3 4130 has no hiccups in that one even with 30 racers. Maybe you could compare different chips and igpus in these old machines one day? Anyhow, I'm happy to see you're covering these, love the video.
Thanks I had one of these small PC's that unfortunately I lost. I got this one locally, in fact down the street from me for $60 same Intel i3 2120. I used a display port to HDMI cable that worked fine unless the PC went to sleep or the TV did and i would have to unplug it and plug it back in for a video and audio signal. An i5 should have no problem with up to PS3, i3 PS2 Thanks for the video. Another thing i want to know is if this could handle streaming to a retro handheld like a Retroid 2s?
I have been thinking about getting a mini pc like this for exactly this purpose, and being able to see how it runs with the specs it has has been very helpful, thanks!
I have several types of computers like this. The one I use daily is the HP EliteDesk G3. It's plays up to PS3 very well. I have a Lenovo Thinkcentre Tiny M93p I run Prime OS and OpenThos on. Great video as always.
I can't wait for the Ryzen 7000G to come out. Those will be perfect in mini PCs for retro-emulation. With their RDNA2 graphic chip they will be emulation beasts.
When it comes to mini-PCs, it really depends on what you are looking to emulate. I can build an emulation machine that can emulate up to the Dreamcast/Naomi/Atomis for around $30. The biggest issue with mini-PCs is cooling. Just because it can emulate some of the newer consoles, doesn't mean you should. The farther you push it on a consistent basis, the shorter it's lifespan will likely be. You can actually get some amazing deals if you already know what to look for. I recently landed a 6th gen I7 for under $50.
Im emulating Ps2 and WiiU on my Ryzen 3 Lenovo thinkstation m715q without fan ever coming up in noise (Gta san andreas). I wouldnt try ps3, even though it can. Same as I wouldnt try ps2 on this particular machine. Its all about if the machine is revving up in fan max speed and if you own one you should be able to tell when it does. Also its a 35W cpu, so it wont generate *that* much of heat. As a reference point, my system runs F-zero gx "fire stage" at stable 62 degrees celsius and God of War 2 stays on around 73.
These mini PCs are awesome. I have the one with an i5 4570t and this one looks much the same. It's actually not struggling with GameCube. It's just compiling shaders. Once it's done that it doesn't do it again and it's smooth as butter. I've really only noticed it on F Zero GX.
@@MrInuhanyou123 I generally don't go as far as PS2 with these as GC is enough for me, but it does play some PS2 when I tried it. However, native resolution with Batocera emulation set to 720p was as far as I tried.
Hi Wicked, big fan of the channel. Would you be able to send me the theme you're using in this video? I believe it's called Hyperflix, but the one I have has an icon that says "Game Zone" in the upper left hand corner and I can't seem to get rid of it.
PC don't need this. You can upscale with many free methods. AMD software has upscaling in itself. Me personally I use lossless scaling. It's a $5 application. I run all my games at 720p for best performance and save power. Then upscale that 720p to 4k. Many free upscaling Technics on PC. OBS studio can upscale to 4k as well. To me nothing beats lossless scaling. Lots of upscaling options.
I bought two of these (but the slightly better Lenovo m700) recently off ebay for £60 each - They turned out to be brand new and I just put a ssd in them. I decided to go this way because they're definitely more powerfull than a Pi which are way too expensive these days. (I've got 6 of them though including the 4, 3, Zero 2W and zero W). Pi's are still the best for robotics/camera systems etc. with the GPIO pins and interfaces, but for a retro game station, this is a better option. I built a simple NAS using the one and a basic PC for my small kids with the other using Debian which I customised to keep it lightweight. They turned out really good - I love the fact that they're also pretty lower power consumption (Not as good as the Pi's, but not bad). I haven't really pushed the limits of it though, only running NES, SNES, Sega Megadrive and DOS emulators, but I'm sure they'll work great for most emulation.
What software do you have on the thing? I see a lot of these things for something like $640 and none of them are sold as emulation machines on Ali express.
I got the exact same PC last year from ebay, but mine came with 4GB of RAM. I used it for a bit as a Windows XP machine, and may use it again to play retro PC games.
man oh man... i dont know how i made the transition from N64 shooting games to everything else. when i tried to go back and play Golden Eye and Perfect Dark I was ALLLLL over the place 😂. I had to change the layout to match the typical modern layout
I recently modded my switch and because its portable as well as can be connected to the TV, its ideal. Can run up to Dreamcast, DS, PSP and ps1 very well
I have an plug & play 128G android arcade box ,can I plug the USB 1 TB hard drive into the USB port and add the batocera updated games such as PS 2 onto my smart TV ? Or should I just buy the Super console X box which is quite expensive ? 🎮
I bought this pc for emulation but didn't try batocera. I ran windows with retroarch then coinops but the performance was terrible. I kept getting screen tearing in NES. Does Batocera really make that much of a difference? I'm running 16 gb of ram too.
Hello, thanks for the video, I already try with my m92p its a i5 and the same framerate with gamecube, but its awesome with PSP and all PSX library, dont forget about DS, but cant handle 3DS
I'd really like to do something like this in a custom cabinet with both arcade style controls and wireless remotes so I can run up to ps2. Any idea what pc would support what I'm wanting to do? Thank you for the video! New sub here for sure.
I agree, but I took it one step further. I bought an aio pc with similar specs and 22 inch screen for $50. Now I just have to build the cabinet and im done. Easy peasy.
I could never see the draw of the wipeout series,it's a racing game but there's never a sense of speed from ps1 to psp like dudes going over 450 mph and it just looks like no excitement or rush
Hey man I'm trying to figure out how do I purchase a emulator already built because I'm not knowledgeable in building PCS emulators. I'm looking to buy emulator with gamecube and Playstation 2 games on it could anyone inform me on where can I purchase one.
Even if you find something that fits your personal needs. When it comes to Botacera you need to have little bit of deep diving in the software how it works. 😳, Mini PC like the Xeon I have recieved is the minimum you need for PS2 / Game Cube.
… except these have USB 3 (4 on the back + 2 on the front, one more than this one) as well as one additional display port. I guess they made quite a few of these in this form factor… I know I saw one with a USB C on the front too.

Might be good to install coinops on it it as a nice front end and add the packs you want.
What is the best (price, performance, ease of setup) plug and play box that one can buy that plays PS2 and older systems?
I3 4130t. Stronger than the box he has here but super cheap. 40 to 60 bucks on ebay.

Only there is one thing like a final hardware compare that is very interesting.
@@WickedGamerCollector HP t620 Plus thin cient with a low profile gpu is a great option for nearly any emulator you throw at it.
