This review is what sold me on this watch. It's in the mail on its way to me now. Can't wait to get it.
Got one of these at Christmas (same colour as you) to replace my old GTR2. I liked my GTR2, but it had absolutely attrocious GPS tracking (when it tracked at all - it couldn't lock onto a GPS signal and hold it for an entire bike ride to save its life). The GTR4's GPS tracking is night and day differnent. Super quick to lock on, and amazingly accurate. HR isn't great for cycling (but how many watches are?) but since you can connect it to an external HRM, who cares? Was going to buy a Garmin Versa 2 instead, but this watch does at least 90% of what that watch does at half the cost. Highly recommended.
I might have to grab this. Looks great. I still have an old Amazfit stratos and it still works great.

I got a amazfit GTR4 six months ago and it is great . I love it. I like listening to music directement from the watch.

This is goes to show that people would rather buy bells and whistles over practicality and value. I haven't heard of this smart watch brand prior to watching this channel nor do I own a smart watch because I have not found one that suits me. This definately most bang for buck.

I dropped my Apple Watch Series 3 today and shattered the screen. I believe I’ve had that for about 5 years, and I’m ordering the GTR 4 as a replacement. Glad to hear it’s this great!!
Agree completely. Love my Amazfit GTR4. The best thing is the PAI system (quanitify's heart rate activity). The second version now links to Polar HR straps to give accuracy when exercising.
I have a t rex 2. And I'm going 37 days, 48%, with all sensors off. It's a beast. I've seen people complaining, but it's a gem, being that I'm rough on watches . Waiting on the t rex 3. Hopefully it has solar and phone .calls

I have a Fitbit sense and I typically get 3 to 4 days with AOD and notifications turned off. I've been looking at Amazfit for a while now. I think I'm gonna take the leap this year!
I've had an Amazfit Pace for years and it is still going strong.
My current watch of choice is the Amazfit T Rex Pro and I think it's already my new favorite watch even after a couple of days.
Nice review I use the Huawei GT 2 Pro and it also last 2weeks. And fitness tracking is phenomenal.
You hit it on the nail for me Jay because I have a fossil 5 SE and it works off Android Wear and yeah you got a factory reset the watch if you want to use it on other devices and plus that I don't know if it's Android Wear or the watch itself battery life even in the different modes extended mode Smart mode still I can barely squeezed out one day and if I'm fortunate I'll go into the second day I'm definitely invested in this Fossil watch
My Amazfit GTR 2 is still going strong. I miss some of the functionality of my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. But I’ll take having 2 weeks worth of battery over a few features.
Hi from Germany. I have different smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 4 and 5. The Pixel Watch, Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra, Fossil Gen. 6 Wellness Edition and the Amazfit GTS4. I use the GTS4 right now. I'm impressed... Amazing battery life... All my other smartwatches have only have a 1-2 day battery life.
I love the GTS4. Amazingh watch. For me it's more a fitness tracker and not a fully functional smartwatch.

Great review. Thanks so much. I'm ready to replace my 2 year old Garmin Vivosmart 4. The more research I do the more I'm leaning toward the Amazfit watches. I had assumed that if I switched to a smartwatch I would have to put up with the terrible battery life like my wife has on her Apple watch. I'm excited to hear I was wrong. Now I just have to decide which Amazfit I want most. I'm leaning toward their more rugged options. Anyway, thanks again for the great review.
If you want heart rate accuracy during cardio i would avoid amazfit watches.
I bought the GTS 4 mini to try out Amazfit and I'm not using any other brand ever again, I plan on buying either this or the newly released GTR mini soon.
Nice. I hate charging my watch daily or every other day. I have the Galaxy watch 4 and it's not good on battery. I had the galaxy fit 2 it lasted a week atleast. It's a different feeling not having to think about watch battery.

Lol, I've been making some of these same observations with the wife while perusing various watches of late. Was leaning heavily towards Garmin watches for the battery life and solid sensors. The Venu 2 is nice, clean look too, but that price tag for what is now an older watch? Venu 2 Plus, light hw upgrade+ ECG but that price hurts even more. I had been considering holding off and waiting for maybe the Venu 3, guessing later half of this year maybe? However I had also been looking hard at the GTR 4 recently. Do I need the ECG, not really. So what's the gain over the price when compared to Garmin... Man it's hard to justify. Watching this vid kind of reinforces that thought in my mind. That said, I think I'm gonna go ahead and drop a few bucks and give the GTR 4 a shot. By the way, first time viewer here J and literally first video of yours I've watched. So yeah... I subbed. :) Looking forward to more reviews. Keep up the good work man.

My Pixel Watch lasts around 1.5 days. It's a hassle having to charge it. I may invest into this brand in a year or so
Hay J, I had an Amazfit Bip a couple years ago and one of my biggest complaints was the lack of US watch faces with AM/PM times, as I recall there were only about 10% of those available. Has that improved now? It appears my other complaint regarding GPS accuracy has been resolved.

Speaking as a man who always wears a classical watch I wanted to buy my first smartwatch to wear on the opposite hand. Now I decided to go for a square one just so it doesn't seem that I have two classic watches on my wrist. After I heard you talk about how Amazfit offers both GTS and GTR I went for the older GTS 3 an it has everything I need and a battery life of 7 plus days. So just dropped in to thank you

I get 4 -5 days on amazfit watches gtr4 and the t-rex
I rock the Garmin and I get 4-6 days depends on my activity that day. Love the battery.
Hey JWill, I need a recommendation for a smartwatch that: 1) Can function as a standalone Smartphone(having a physical SIM slot) with decent mic and speaker and 2) perform the main fitness functions with good GPS. What is/are your suggestion(s)?

Everyone who raves about the GTR4 just raves about the big battery. I bought one of these two weeks ago and found that it does a horrible job of keeping track of fitness metrics. The steps are all over the place, it has no clue when or how I am sleeping, pulse is sketchy and not real time, and the PAI's make no sense. A 3 mile treadmill run might send the PAI's through the roof but an extreme, 18 mile mountain ride will barely budge them. I could go on, but this thing is a complete failure as a fitness tracker.

I returned mine. The band felt like the cheapest I've ever owned. The watch was just OK.
I bought this watch after your review but I'm highly disappointed that it doesn't pick up phone calls. I've tried everything on planet earth and still can't answer phone calls.
Users error for sure, I answer calls all day. Check your settings

I'm curious too as I have a smallish wrist. Looks OK on J's wrist. Not looking to have a Flava Flav clock on my wrist 😃. Was looking at the gtr Mini since it might fit my wrist better
All the scientific channels, that measure accuracy put the Amazfit products very low on the scale. Most of them such as the quantitative scientist and Desfit use a chest strap to compare the accuracy of heart rate during workouts . The watch is attractive. However, what good is having so many workout profiles if the readings are way off?
If you're serious about working out you probably have a chest strap / arm band HRM anyway which you can then connect to this watch and get much more accurate results than any wrist mounted optical sensor will give you.
@@LukeRichardson1981 that's besides the point. The fact is that the SE does great without a chest strap. If you only care about battery life fine. But it's not a great fitness device if you care about heart rate.
Yes my thoughts exactly the only ones from his testing for health tracking and many others seem to like would be Apples watches, whoop straps, and oura ring 3's and maybe a Fitbit for sleep and a Huawei watch GT runner for heart rate tracking. Good battery life with Amazfit but I would still go with an Apple watch with reliable data and extra functionality.

I agree with you. I have to point out that heart rate accuracy for the GTR4 is more accurate than the rest of the amazfit line. It is a newer sensor but it is still not apple watch or huawei Gt3 pro level but it is close to them. Check the fit gear hunter channel for the heartrate accuracy of GTR4 for crossfit training which is very difficult to capture accurately through a wristbased sensor
Exactly right! These watches aren't "underrated" as J says, they're just not good. Of course you're going to get 10+ days battery on watch with mediocre software/sensors.
I owned this exact model for a few months, and I admit it looked great, but besides that, anyone serious about investing in a wearable needs to look elsewhere.
Galaxy watch 4 and battery life is like a day with charging it every night! SMH! 👎🏿
For a smartwatch its good but for fitness tracking Amazfit is known for poor accuracy according to The Quantified Scientist.
Well you might just be going off of what it says online, but I'm using it for REAL...and there are NO GPS issues at all.
GPS is perfectly accurate - even better than my bike GPS in areas where the view of the sky is obstructed, in fact. HR isn't wonderful for cycing, but since you can connect it to an external HR monitor that really doesn't bother me in the slightest. HR from the watch works just fine for other sports in my experiene.
@@LukeRichardson1981 Yeah, it probably has great GPS tracking but I think he is referring to health tracking accuracy. With a heart rate strap its accurate. But many people would just get the watch thinking that it has accurate health tracking when it may not for them and they most likely don't want to go through the hassle of getting a heart rate strap.
The GTR4 has the latest HR sensor much different to all the other Amazfit watches, I'm hoping The Quantified scientist test the GTR4 sometime soon
