The probelm with sprays and powders is that they have patchy coverage so some parts of the face don't get the proper protection. I think a cushion compact with spf gives the best coverage while still keeping makeup looking good. Korean brands have a lot of good ones like Missha's M Magic Cushion and they have cushion blushes with spf too like
Perricone MD No Blush Blush SPF 30

do you think this would also happen with sprays that have aerosol? would spf be too thick for aerosol sprayers? I have aerosol setting sprays and they seem to be able to give me very even coverage if I have a steady hand.

The only issue is if you have to powder your makeup in the morning then patting a cream on top of that creates a cakey mess. 😟 I feel like I have to powder so the cushion isn’t a great option for me!

    • @clarkandmama4894
      @clarkandmama4894 4 года назад

@@christinab5778 I'm not sure how the cushion would react with a recently powdered face but it seems to work well for my powdered face after few hours when I need to reapply. I just blot my face (since I do get a bit oily during the day) before using my cushion spf. I think the oils from the face would make the powder cakey. (This is coming from someone with combo skin - oily T zone and dry cheeks). These are just on days I really need the extra spf if I'll be spending more time outdoors.

@@karey99 I've read that aerosols and sprays need to be rubbed in or sprayed on for at least 6 seconds on each area to have full effect. I personally don't use them because it gets in my eyes and im very sensitive.

PSA other than using enough product, the Shiseido tinted SPF does not have UVA protection. It can also run orange if you’re on the fair side. BareMinerals also doesnt provide UVA protection. You need a full spectrum SPF underneath

    • @Aimee-Gates

Connie W she did say in the beginning of the video that she has a full spectrum underneath and she applies these in addition to the sunscreen she already has on and she says it again during the video multiple times. Tinted moisturizers are a great way to reapply if you don’t have a face full of makeup on and sprays are great if you do have make up on.

However, whenever I sprayed it on my face to set my makeup, some of it would get into my hair and ruin it. I use a tinted sunscreen alone in the mornings (it's spf 30) :( sorry skincare gods lmao
And reapply it every 2 hours
BUT I'm thinking of buying the sun bum spray on sunscreen (spf 50, which is definitely a much better sunscreen protection)
I think it'd be wayyy easier!
Probably gonna go to the shops tomorrow or the next day, I'll probably buy it.

Hi, can anyone explain a little bit more on the « re-boosting » your sunscreen element?
    - To me it is important to re-apply your sunscreen throughout the day, but simply dotting unevenly another spf will not suffice, your face needs the same coverage as it did in the morning. Maybe I’m wrong and reapplication is recommended not because the spf « dies out », but because it is estimated to be diluted to a certain level by your sweat and etc., but still is somewhat active until you wash it off completely?
    - Personally to reapply over my makeup, I just rub the lotion in between my palms so that the texture is already like I want it to be on my face, and then I just pat it on and repeat for all the areas of my face so I don’t sheer out the coverage, and I can slightly retouch my makeup after (I wear makeup but not foundation and I have normal to dry skin). I think that technique maybe won’t absorb and disturb your makeup as much as the sponge. Also I know it gives me all the coverage I need (or that I thought I needed before I got introduced just now to the concept of « re-activation »?)
-I’m glad Susan is pointing out to consumers the discrepancy between spf in makeup and the actual amount you should be applying! Sure it’s never a bad thing to have spf, but to me I just ignore it I don’t see it as a « boost », I believe it is proven that after a certain threshold level of spf (50 or 60?) the extra protection advertised is all marketing anyway, what really matters after that is how much you apply and how often, so it must be the same for that « boost » over your good old reliable base sunscreen.

Can we talk about how to reapply sunscreen while minimizing breakouts? I'd love to try the colorescience powder, but reusing that brush on my face several times throughout each day? I fear that brush would colonize bacteria so fast and make me breakout! Same thing with the makeup sponge. I never hear this talked about and yet it seems so obvious.
