Great video on explaining the process of reshaping harden knife steel. And was curious if you could make a video explaining your belt progression from profiling to grinding the bevels and handles and then the finishing hand sanding process. Great work!
You can use instant coffee to make the knife black (or at least a much darker gray), just put it in a supersaturated mixture of instant coffee after oxidizing it in vinegar.
Man my ass puckers every time I see you just barehanding the knife blank while drilling out the handles. First time you get a helicopter blade will be the last time you don't clamp one down. Otherwise, fantastic knife and video! Love the yellow liners!
@@NickVanLeuven Haha oh god, that happening AFTER sharpening is a literal nightmare! I take it you had fast enough reflexes to not end up with permanent damage?
@@knownaigm nothing too bad, a deep cut for sure. Thankfully the carbide tipped drill bit I used in this video doesn't grab the steel like a normal twist drill bit does.
Beautiful knife! You did an excellent job describing what you were doing and your thought process. Thanks for keeping the music low..
Well done!
@@davidschuerhoff7682 Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the voice over. It really helps to understand your process. The blade looks awesome! Congrats !

8:23 Gluing the liners to the wood looked like cheese on bread. #forbiddensandwich 😂 Sharp looking knife!

I've done it on some knives and it really works, the longer it's soaked in coffee the darker it gets, you can at least test it with a piece of steel
Нож хорош😅😅😅

@@knownaigm I've had that happen before, but the only time I really regretted it was when the blade was sharpened before drilling the holes.

@@NickVanLeuven That's good to hear! Stay safe man!
4:47 considering that those concrete/masonry bits are not meant to cut metal at all, I am really surprised they cut metal at all.
