Please help if you can. I had my P950 out yesterday and it would not fucus on anything beyond 700/800mm with the auto focus engaged. It, however, did focus while using manual focus in all zoom settings. I called Nikon and the tech told me that I have to use the manual focus beyond 700mm. I find this hard to believe. Thank You Joe B.
Heya Joe, I haven’t had experience with the P950 but with the P1000 it more to do with the what you are focussing on and not the what. So my suggestions - is this issue the same across all modes with auto focus - have you tried it on multiple subjects and different distances - autofocus is terrible if you are recording already - all else fails go with a factory reset
So as a choice P1000 or P950 ? Is the P950 easier to have as a go any where camera compared to the brick size of the P1000? I loved the P610, and used two to destruction as a daily camera. I found the compactness of the P610 perfect as an everyday carry. As a birder I use a bridge camera as a digital notebook, so would I regret not having the 3000 capability if I went for the smaller camera with ' only' the 2000mm capability? Thoughts on those pros and cons from yourself and any users who have experienced both models or regret buying the P1000? Or do I buy a P1000 and a second everyday camera? If so any recommendations? As a former Olympus OM1/2/4 model user , I do hanker after a OMD 10 mk 111. But can I justify two systems? Not really.
If Size is your biggest hang up go with the P950 over the P1000, I use the P900 and P1000 and while im completely used to the P1000 weight I do find it odd going back to the P900, feels kind of tiny.
Nope its all in one, the only thing you might consider if you were interested would be a macro lens like the Raynox DCR-250 which sits on the front and can be used for close ups of tiny things.
I think they should have started with the P1100 instead of going back to the P950. And they needed to reduce the zoom and insert a new sensor to get better images at high zoom. Helo from Croatia 😊
Mine is only couple of years old and won't turn on every time, currently on a won't turn on day. Disappointed and really difficult finding anywhere that repairs the Coolpix models
Nice video, I own a canon cropped sensor DSLR camera, I want to upgrade my setup for bird and wildlife photography but for that a minimum of 400mm lens is needed which is as costly as Nikon P 950,should I consider purchasing a new lens or this camera. What would you suggest?
Hey MB, I havent used anything outside of the P900 and P1000 so I cant really comment in regards to the Canon. These camera do have smaller sensors but I know a lot of people swear by them for the zoom when shooting wildlife so at worst you are adding another tool to your toolkit. My suggestion is find someone who can lend you one so you can give it a go. Heres a couple of bird videos to give you and idea of what to expect but i would suggest Facebook for some birding photos. ruclips.net/video/DAz6jlMWbPA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/jU2GPv8Pi6c/видео.html
If you put a 1 inch sensor on a superzoom, it will become a canon (not the company Cannon). The bigger the sensor the wider the focal range. Put a 1 inch sensor on a P950 and it will go from 2000mm to 960mm. The gigantic P1000 will go from 3000mm to 1111mm. It will still be a lot of zoom. Personally I might be interested in a 1 inch sensor version of the P950. I could live with 960mm focal range if I could get better low light shooting. But it's still important to have something like the P950 available.
David Powell you can but it may not be as crisp as a photo. A lot of my thumbnails are screen grabs from video. I basing this on the P950 working the same as the P1000
P1000 too bulky, too heavy, too costly, but I still dont get the idea for P950? BTW, you can geotag from your phone through the app... Anyhoo, I'm done, selling my P1000 to buy a prime lens for my Fuji, get this, swapping 3000mm for 16mm, lol

I still have the P900 but upgraded to P950. I love my P950. My thoughts: I like the new features and the easier access to them. I am still having trouble connecting to my phone via Snap Bridge...could be user error but have watched several of the tutorials and still not connected. In my opinion, the 950 stabilizer is much better than the 900. I was going to upgrade to the 1000 but after the reviews about the weight, I opted out. I would have loved that extra zoom, but not at the compromise of the quality of my shots. I really like the size and weight of the 950; it's easy to throw in my larger purses, especially for travel. Thank you for your comments, I concur on most and agree that the pros certainly outweigh the cons. Because of posting my images, I have been instrumental in 7 people (that I am aware of) purchasing the 900, 950 and one purchase of the 1000. LOVE Nikon!!!
That’s great mate, fully agree you don’t need a P1000 if you have the P950. I gave up on snap bridge pretty much straight off the bat. I use the micro sd card adaptor on my iPad and it’s pretty quick. Never looked back.
It’s crazy that SnapBridge worked like a charm on the P900. I loved being able to just airdrop/transfer pics to my phone to view them. I wonder why the difference; Oh well.
That is pretty much what I am getting at, the only issue being that the P1000 has come down in price in a lot of places so is close to the P950 in price.
I probably stay with my p900. If they didn't give me better autofocus performance , with tracking, and all that goodies, and no slower and faster maximum shutter speed on each end, and battery last shorter - there is no point to change.
Nice video. I had a P1000 but sold it because of the size and weight and with my tremors the P1000 just wasnt a good fit for me. I have 2 P900s and have been happy with them. However I had to send one to Nikon to be cleaned and repaired and I hope its not too costly. My other P900 Im going to retire it as it has issues that I think will be too costly to fix. I dont know if I'll get a P950 because I was never impressed with the P900 colors producing results. Best wishes Duane
That’s a shame Duane, hope your tremors aren’t getting any worse. Assuming the P950 is as capable as the P1000 you can get some pretty decent colours out of it for a bridge camera. ruclips.net/video/j0HIohTUuI8/видео.html

I was waiting to see the prices between P1000 and P950, and the P1000 is findable cheaper than the P950, certainly it is new but apart from the size I do not see what it really brings more compared to the P1000, unless I missed something
No you are right, over here I am seeing the price see saw up and down below what the P950 goes for.
For RUclips Travel Videos
Which one will you recommend
Nikon P950 or Canon SX70
Oooof I havent used either but the P950 would be closer to what I have, I guess the question becomes what sort of travel videos you are planning and would zoom play a factor?
@@SuperZoomVideos yes sir, zoom is needed.. but i think 65x will cover all the needs..
But 20x or 30x won't do it...
That's why I deleted fz1000 and RX10iv from my wishlist
And fz80 doesn't have tilt screen and mic input
from what I am reading the SX70 has better video so if Vlogging and videoing is your priority that might be the decider if the lower zoom suffices. Otherwise maybe look at the P950 if cost isnt an issue.

Is it worth buying. my P900 bought 5 years ago is ' spoilt ?
if you want 4K yes !! except that nothing really new !!.
as for me p1000 is way better than p950 since i am shooting mainyl landscapes and the moon !!!
Yeah what Rod said, it’s worth it if you want the extra features but not the weight.
So my suggestions
- is this issue the same across all modes with auto focus
- have you tried it on multiple subjects and different distances
- autofocus is terrible if you are recording already
- all else fails go with a factory reset

Does it need extra lens or not?
Nope its all in one, the only thing you might consider if you were interested would be a macro lens like the Raynox DCR-250 which sits on the front and can be used for close ups of tiny things.
@@SuperZoomVideos ok thanks
I just received the P950 and it came with a lens hood.
Realllllly, I was wondering if they might had done that without advertising it. Is it similar to the P1000 Lens hood?

I got a lens hood with my one too.😊
any other super-zoom coming out?
Cameras, not that I know of. Videos, plenty
I think they should have started with the P1100 instead of going back to the P950. And they needed to reduce the zoom and insert a new sensor to get better images at high zoom. Helo from Croatia 😊
Heya Matt, I’m wondering if they were trying to reduce some cost by not investing in new dev for this one
You can get good images at high zoom.
Any HEVC on this camera?
I want to say no
You did, you missed the top reason I’d buy it...RAW! Unlike the other Nikon superzoom cameras this one does shoot raw files.
Hey Dominic, yes the P1000 also has raw :)
The B700 has Raw as well
Mine is only couple of years old and won't turn on every time, currently on a won't turn on day. Disappointed and really difficult finding anywhere that repairs the Coolpix models
That sucks Jennifer, intermittent technical issues are the worst. Hope you can find a fix for that :/
Nice video, I own a canon cropped sensor DSLR camera, I want to upgrade my setup for bird and wildlife photography but for that a minimum of 400mm lens is needed which is as costly as Nikon P 950,should I consider purchasing a new lens or this camera.
Heres a couple of bird videos to give you and idea of what to expect but i would suggest Facebook for some birding photos.

what is missing ? = no one inch sensor ?
Yeah sensor sucks
If you put a 1 inch sensor on a superzoom, it will become a canon (not the company Cannon). The bigger the sensor the wider the focal range. Put a 1 inch sensor on a P950 and it will go from 2000mm to 960mm. The gigantic P1000 will go from 3000mm to 1111mm. It will still be a lot of zoom. Personally I might be interested in a 1 inch sensor version of the P950. I could live with 960mm focal range if I could get better low light shooting. But it's still important to have something like the P950 available.
Good information about the Nikon P950. Thanks for sharing. Hope you are having a good weekend my friend.

Bull Whipz no worries, fixed it
I still have the P900 but upgraded to P950.
I hear its a lot better now but I just finding taking the card out easier now.
Isn't the 950 here to offer something in between 900 and 1000? An 1100 would be more money than a 1000
That is pretty much what I am getting at, the only issue being that the P1000 has come down in price in a lot of places so is close to the P950 in price.
A great camera between the P900 and the P1000, thanks 👍
Cheers for watching Giuseppe! Hope all is well in your world.
@@SuperZoomVideos thanks
I probably stay with my p900. If they didn't give me better autofocus performance , with tracking, and all that goodies, and no slower and faster maximum shutter speed on each end, and battery last shorter - there is no point to change.
That is something I’d like them to address, the auto focus tends to be a bit fickle at times on both cameras.
Best wishes
Duane
That’s a shame Duane, hope your tremors aren’t getting any worse. Assuming the P950 is as capable as the P1000 you can get some pretty decent colours out of it for a bridge camera.

Thats just how I sound :(
Is there two models of this camera a 950 and a 950 4k vision or is it just that some seller don't put the 4k in the description.
What's the built in memory size and would people recommend adding a 128gig card.
Is it easy to drag and drop photos off camera on to PC or do I have to use the software it comes with.
What camera bags are recommended for the p950.
Hey Rico,
Only one version and it’s 4K, the P900 is the only non 4K of the 3 Coolpix cameras
No built in memory that I am aware of and yes 128 gig is great.
I use a memory stick reader and then it’s a lot easier to move photo around, not a fan of the built in software.

Hey mate, if it’s just the zoom and you aren’t worried about the dated tech than there is still nothing wrong with the P900, probably just getting a little long in the tooth.
I have only used the 900 and 1000 so I am a bit one eyed on the topic but I would lean toward the P950 mostly because it’s a bit more user friendly
