Sheffield is number one in Britain for research funding. Libraries are excellent and resources are superb. We have tie-ups with Boeing and Rolls Royce.
At Sheffield in the history department we use footnotes then put a bibliography at the end divided into primary and secondary sources. Stick to the department's style guide. Staff here are excellent
Student discount on buses. £1.20 or £1.30 will get you anywhere in the city. we have our own tram system, Sean Bean, The Arctic Monkeys and loads of different world foods.
Hey Suki, I’m an international student planning to apply to University of Sheffield, I would like to know how does the ‘catered’ option work in the accommodation. 1-Are there any separate accommodations? 2- Is it a buffet or a fixed meal?
@@SukiCheung Aww Thank you very much for your reply😍 You know I'm from Sheffield Living on a 5 mins walk from the Art Tower..in Crookes.....Thanks again and best off luck for your rest of time in Uni😊😊
Hi I originally didn’t want to go to uni far away from me because of my confidence. I have a facial difference so I get worried about what others think and whether I’ll make a lot of friends. Is Sheffield quite an including and accepting place , like are people nice there? 😂Sorry might sound stupid but I want to find somewhere that I’ll feel comfortable and stuff but idk what uni would have like the most accepting kind of people 😂
Hey! Yes, from my experience my university itself is very very inclusive , there’s not ‘popularity’ hierarchy that you’ll get in high school. But yea I totally get you! I was so scared to go to the UK at first too! I don’t even look like the people there because I’m an asian but turns out people are super friendly☺️ maybe go to an open day? And you can see how it’s actually like there ❤️
I can't decide between uni of Sheffield and uni of Nottingham. I prefer the Notts course and it's more prestigious but my best friend is going to Sheffield, I feel like I'd be a lot more confident to join societies and sports if I have her. Do you think there's much difference in Nottingham and Sheffield?
Ah! I was debating between the two universities too! Notts is a campus university and Sheffield is a city based one. I personally think if you prefer the course in notts you should go for it since there are many opportunities to meet friends and a benefit of not knowing any people is that you are more open to meet more people. But those are just my opinions, go for what you think is right! 👍🏻
@@SukiCheung I firmed notts! I totally agree, I know I’ll gain much more social skills if I start off not knowing anyone. I’m so excited but a little bit scared, thank you!
When did you apply? I want to go to sheffield university so bad but some of my documents will be available until march and i’m worried i don’t have enough time yet. Also, did you go to the international college before your undergraduate college?
i don't drink either and I was scared I wouldn't be able to go out during freshers because of that!!! i am now happy can buy some tickets to partayyyyyy
People who don't drink can still make friends, BUT how about people who don't go to parties/clubs? Btw, love the video, really helpful since I will be going to Sheffield University too this sept!
Hey!! I’m so happy you’re gonna be joining Sheffield this September 💖😊 well lemme tell you I only made 2 friends through clubbing hahah and all of the people that became actual valuable friends to me are met in my accommodation. The club is too loud anyway to have a good conversation with another person😂
The good thing about uni is that a diverse range of people will be attending with you. You will find someone like you for sure! I found my best friend through my course and then she introduced me to her flatmates and then I lived with her and said flatmates in my second year. We are the type of people who eat good food together and like watch films and bake each other dubious looking cakes loool
I recommend choosing a university accommodation instead of private housing, it’s a lot easier for you to find friends and get comfortable in the new environment. Perhaps looking at the university’s website?
@@SukiCheung thanks for the reply. I'm planning to take MSc but no specific deadline given on website. But they suggest it to be early before September so they can take care of my student visa. Are you an international student? If yes, how long does it take for you student visa to be done?
Mam will you say me about the cost and the students experience there because some of them came from different countries they may lack in english what do you think about it
I think my university has a really good support student for international student. There’s a service called 301 that helps students to develop better English if they are struggling. 😊

Correction: now it £1.00 for students❤❤on first busses❤
Stagecoach have also brought it down to £1.
@@stardust5379 ohh sorry I didn't know that cuz I mostly travel on First buses but now Longley college have given me student free travel card😍😍😊😊
