I had a similar experience with applying to Sheffield through clearing - I was feeling really down because I didn't make the grades for one place, but then the Sheffield team were so nice and responsive it made me feel a lot better and I began to value my grades as I should have. Glad to know someone else had the same experience and it wasn't just a fluke!
ive watched so many uni related videos, Sheffield is one of my choices so can't wait till I can finally get round to looking at the universities...I will be going to uni September 2021 so I have more time luckily
Keep it going Sophia! So glad I found your channel 🥰 I make videos about the university of Sheffield too and of course I’m a student there it’s really amazing to find someone that goes to the same uni as me! ❤️
Hey girl! I’m also studying at Sheffield uni about to go into my second year of English lit and it’s been amazing !! Got a lovely house in Crookesmoor to live in from sept, hope u have a great year babe!
such a helpful video! hopefully moving into endcliffe in september studying sociology with criminology and want to be as prepared as possible, really excited for it though! thank you xx
Such a helpful video 💗I’m starting at Sheffield uni in September eeek! One thing tho, do you think it’s normal for like your flat group chat not to talk that much over text before you start? Idk if it’s still a bit early as it’s still 3 months away - but hardly anyone talks in my group chat 😬
to be honest we didn't find each other until after results day so your situation is slightly different but I guess we were all quite excited about the novelty of everything, I reckon closer to the time it might pick up a bit! xx
there are loads of sports societies on offer - they have a whole sports fair during freshers! As for diversity, I can understand why you may be concerned, but there are societies for people of all cultures that are open to all and you will definitely find people who can relate to you too! x
this was a very helpful video ✨ thank you! also it was super encouraging to hear from someone who also doesn't drink but manages to have a great time at nights out anyway :)
This is so helpful! Thank you so much! Sheffield uni is definitely up there for one of my choices. I am planning on going to uni in September 2021. The subject I want to do is English and the building where you do that is quite a bit further from where my su is and endcliff. I was wondering if there will always be people to tag along with?
I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Loads of people do English at Sheffield, so even if you don't meet people in your accommodation straight away who do the same subject, there are plenty of events that your department will do in intro week so that you'll find friends to tag along w you to lectures, seminars, etc! :)
superrr helpful esp for this year! Definitely helping me try to make my decision, what made you choose Sheffield over Leeds bc I've applied to both but not got to visit the cities. Just wondered your take as you said you also applied and visited Leeds
I really liked Leeds too & it's a beautiful city as well, slightly bigger so it all depends on what you prefer, but I just thought the course at Sheffield was better suited to me & I appreciated how the uni reached out to me to give me more information about my chosen course too! Clearing is obvs a slightly different situation so if you do get a chance to go visit your cities I definitely would but if not then extensive research on both the course and the city is your best bet too x
Hi. Really helpful video. Hoping to get into Sheffield next year. Is the accommodation just for the first year, or for all the years you would be studying there?
Honestly I found it to be really diverse, there are so many international students, and British people from other ethnicities too (just like myself!) - it's full of many different cultures! Good luck!! :)
not sure of the exact differences, as it all depends on whether or not you want shared bathrooms or ensuite & which type of accommodation you want but there's so much info available on the sheff website :)
yeah I had a friend there! It's shared bathroom but has a huge kitchen which is so nice - only downside is it's a little out of endcliffe compared to the others but it's not that bad! Just all down to what you want :)
I will start uni in Sept, but I my accommodation is private so will it be more difficult to make friends as I’m not going to live in a uni accommodation
Which uni did you consider for Biochemistry?? I'm an international and thinking to apply for Sheffield ofc! and Warwick and Nottingham but can't tell which uni is strong with Bio realm. I appreciate if you could give me some sense with it ;/ Thank you for the great video!
Hi! I'll be starting my journey in Sheffield from this year, September. I booked a "singles" Preference in Endcliffe Crescent 30. What I want to know is that will I get International or local Roommates?
hi, just want to ask what you think of biochemistry as a course at sheff? i’m thinking of choosing it or possibly biomed, do you know what you want to go into once you graduate? thank you:))
Hey! I am really enjoying the course so far and i think that the two - biomed and biochem - are very different, biomed gives you the options to look into modules like neuroscience, anatomy and pharmaceuticals whereas biochem looks into biology at a molecular level in year one, and you focus on genetics, microbiology and molecular biology as well as biochemsitry. As you go through the years, you are able to focus more on the areas that you enjoy more! There are so many options with a biochemistry degree, but I think I may attempt the graduate entry route into medicine, I haven't fully decided yet, if not then hopefully I'll be able to do an industrial year and eventually a masters and go into research, but the world is truly your oyster when it comes to a degree like this, you can go into so many business jobs, work in the intelligence sector or even become a teacher! It's all down to what you are interested in :) x
Sophia Rami I grew up in Sheffield old memories of west street (Sheffield in general) I use to truant from secondary school and go to Meadowhall, there use to be an arcade area 😂 spend all day there🙈 I like the bars on west street! It’s all probably changed now. They’ve redeveloped the city centre.
it's all dependent on how many nights out you wanna go on/how much you drink, sheffield is fairly cheap in comparison to other UK cities but during freshers the tickets are definitely higher - I'd say they range between £5-15 depending how early in advance you get them, but the drinks are fairly cheap from what friends have said like 50p for a single to £5 rounds as well! hope this helps :)
I was looking at going to Sheffield!! this is a really helpful video, I've liked and subscribed ❤ I've just started making videos, maybe we can support each other? x

How common is it for students to go out partying in the university.
I've ended up getting a double bed room in endcliffe
Hi! I'll be starting my journey in Sheffield from this year, September. I booked a "singles" Preference in Endcliffe Crescent 30. What I want to know is that will I get International or local Roommates?
there's no way of finding that out unfortunately because both international and home students can sign up for those places :)

Is this university has placements for international students?
do you know how long is it from Allen Court to the uni walking?
About 5 mins, it's right next to the campus
Love your videos~ Could you recommend some out campus accommodations?
Thank you! I've heard the unite students ones are meant to be good :)

do you have to be above 18 to get accomodation in city?
