I agree. She's so much more mysterious than what she was shown. Especially how brutal, ruthless it was when she attempted to kill Furina. She looked terrifying. But all she did was commanding the children to save the nation, however doesn't care about the life of the archon. I actually personally don't think this bad for the storytelling, because I'm sure we will get more of her insane side in the future.
1. fatui are not straight out villans in the story but are diplomats from sneznaya and the tsaritsa 2. childe and signora works are not a lot appricated by the fatui as they the opposite things diplomats do 3. childe and signorma used non diplomatic ways in mons and liyue places where the archons were ready to give the gnosis willingly and they painted fatui in a wrong way 4. knave on the other hand took the gnosis by painting the fatui as fontaine’s well wishers (if signora was in her place she would use the oppurtunity to stir up even further) further we should not forget that fontaine is main mass media place in tevyat thanks to steambird and theatre culture 5. knave being head of fatui intelligence would already know that neuvilette is hydro soverign and fighting againist him is pointless 6. on one world quest we hear sondrone (7th fatui) saying sorry to taveller for loss of his clockwork friend and mercilessly killing the person who was caused it (he was also hired by her only) 7. there were a lot of things in the chessboard on fatui trailer i will drop it if anyone wants there are a lot of things more to say but lets keep it short, all i can say is that more we will reach the end of the game more the people will be on fatui side the game has dropped positve things about everyone, khanriah the abyss fatui and even the heveanly principles (there is a confusion that who actually is wrong)but info is all scaterred across tevyat and not included in the archon quest (they atleast should have hinted them in the archon quest)
As a certain unrelated character uses to say: rules are made to be broken. I think you are jumping to conclusion based on the repeated formula used as of now by genshin, not considering that formulas are a guidelines not law. Now I'm gonna be upfront, as yours are opinions so are mine. As of now we had fatuis that start off bad with a sort of redemption arc to justify their playability: in the case of Scaramouch we quite literally have a redemption arc, while Tartaglia was just never really "evil" and has been helpful since the liyue events (I don't think we should be talking about Dottore and Signora since their stories are not concluded, and yes I am saying that la Signora's story is not concluded yet). On the other hand we know that Arlecchino is a two-faced manipulator that scare off even her comrades from the voicelines, but as we meet her she is a loving father that cares for her children and her nation, helps out in the background without asking for rewards, if not alliances profitable for both parties, and doesn't kill if she doesn't need to. To me they clearly want to flip the formula around and start her off with the "redemption arc", being all buddy buddy, become allies, helping eachother to than backstab at opportune moment, not only us travelers but even her own children and maybe even the other fatui harbingers. She is a strategist that don't need battles to win the bigger war, because she knows how and when to use her chess pieces. The reason she appears for the first time in the region of opera and justice where the archon is just an actress that plays the part of a goddess is because Arlecchino herself is an actress, concealing her true intentions behind a mask and puppeteering your emotions to feel like she isn't such a cruel bigshot, while in reality she is a monster playing the part of a human. Overall no harbinger as of now has completely outed themselves in just 1 region, they all had arcs revolving around multiple regions. Saying that the most secretive of them is useless in the one region we saw her doing something in is a bit of a leap without knowing the bigger picture. (we actually don't even really SEE her do anything; all her dealings are just reported to us by her or by others that gained something frone said dealings) Tl;dr: I think she is flipping the fatui harbinger formula and there is much more to come in the future for her.
Childe tried to genocide the entire nation for thrills, I can't say that he was not "evil" after that. As for the rest, we have to wait for interlude to drop, usually it is packed with important and dramatic stuff but I wouldn't get my hopes too high since we have Neuvilette who can easily take the spotlight and is a fan favorite.
@@SelikBzdyyou could still argue he’s evil but he didn’t unseal Osial for thrills. He explicitly said he was doing it to draw out Morax as a last resort and he’d wanted to avoid civilian casualties. But the mission comes first.
I think Arlecchino feels so different compared to the other Harbingers is because the Fatui are not antagonistic in the Fontaine Archon Quest. The most their scheming comes down to is trying to get the gnosis (as seen during Lyney and Lynette's magic show and Arlecchino's attack on Furina), something we'd expect. They didn't try to trigger the prophecy or anything. Arlecchino has her own agenda, it's just not as personal as the others' because of her role as the Director of the House of the Hearth
I don't agree with all points that you make I feel like she serves as a background foil for the story at this point. What we see is her Political face she sets things up to show that things aren't necessarily all that they seem to be. I have a feeling that she is setting the ground for some major upheaval in the story by fostering goodwill with the help provided by the Fatui. It reeks of set up to me the fact that they hinted at betrayal and craziness means she's set up to be a cover distraction for something more subtle. I do agree it's disappointing we didn't get to see it in the first major arc but I feel like something bigger is coming that will justify it. I've seen villain roles like hers before and most times they are used to great effect.
There is no such thing as only being necessary if you have to fight them Dottore has had a reputation since the beginning of the game through the web manga Arlecchino has a reputation since the Fatui Teaser Even so, we still haven't seen what they can really do, but that doesn't mean they're useless. Above all, the Fatui are diplomats, if they don't try to resolve things through dialogue, what's the point? Arlecchino is the only harbinger who has her own private army and she used this in Fontaine's story. There will come a point where she will do things herself

You know that Pulcinella and Pantalone are just "ordinary" humans without Vision right? I doubt they will fight if anything they might be the most diplomatic of all the Fatui Chapter 1 of Genshin will not end until Khaenri'ah and the number of this act is blurred because there may be one before it and after Snezhnaya which can make all the hanbingers appear
@@Keiki-kun I don't know about Pantalone but Pulcinella is definitely not an "ordinary human" since he's the Snezhnayan flagship character from the Teyvat trailer, and it's already been confirmed that all characters that appeared there will be playable at some point.

My take on arle is that shes IS a plot twist just by doing nothing, shes breaking the formula just like focalos not being a archon and giving power back to a dragon did, see, everyone says shes evil, even the “evil” childe and scara fear and despise her, she looks evil, present herself as evil, the entire time in fontain we are just eaiting for her to betray us or snap but it never comes, the hole idea is to show us that not all fatui are bad guys (lyney and the gang) and that the travler dont have to be enemies much like the previous story shown how the abyss order too are not that bad, and celestia and the archons are not all good, plus don’t forget that arlechino story is not over, we meet scara at 1.1 and only got to fight him at sumeru...

Exactly. I think it's little too early for a final verdict. If she'll be released as a playable character after Chiori, I think it's safe to say that we'll get more main story revolving around her. And that could be the moment where they pull the rug from under us. I can't imagine Mihoyo making us care so much for Navia and then Navia (and the Traveller him/herself in the end) naively getting close to Arlecchino without any plottwist. And that plot twist could then be the lead-up to the next region. But if there won't be anymore story that gives Arlecchinos prior role in the Fontaine Archon quest more background, I agree that she was kinda pointless...
it’s interesting, i do like her character and i wished to see more of her in the archon quests but considering the harbingers mostly do a lot in nations she most likely did the bare minimum and got the gnosis just handed to her after doing the tiniest bit of nothing behind the scenes.
It's too rushed to show her true self in the same patch she is introduced in Plus her being cordial and polite and in the background is very much in character for her

It's called build up, also I don't think you understood what "Wolf in Sheep's clothing" means. During and after the Archon quest we were shown the "Sheep" side of her personality, now when the next major Fontaine update comes we will most definitely be seeing the "Wolf" side of her personality.
And that was probably intentional. She literally doesn't even appear in the final cutscene nor in furina's trailer which is supposed to be a play featuring actors aka the fontaine cast including childe... Makes you think something weird is going on behind the scenes.
I saw it as serving a relatively minor role to give added pressure to Furina, Didn't really expect any more since the main focus of fontaines story wasn't her anyways, We havent even seen the information from Childe and Scaramouche's voicelines put into action yet. And if we're taking in leaks into this now theres some sus leaks about 4.6.
First of all, this is the first time we're meeting her. That's why there's no real action from her. That will show how villainous she really can be. Secondly, when we see her the next time, when she actually becomes a playable character like Childe we'll probably end up fighting her. I honestly think you're just jumping way too far ahead in the story. And you're going to see exactly what everybody else was saying about her later on. So please be patient and let my girl do what she do.
My problem is the other three harbingers carried themselves and didn't need to wait an incredibly long time. La Signora is an exception, but making Arlecchino more long term is flawed bc they need to introduce other harbingers too

I believe Arlecchino is "Wolf in Sheep's clothing". We know from lyney and freminet's story that she can kill if she wants. Also from wanderer's and childe's lines she has more to offer. Their lines are not about the previous arlecchino, because childe didn't met her, as this Arlecchino took the "knave" title, several years ago.
Arlecchino‘s ark didn’t appear to be over yet for me. I always assumed she’d get an interlude chapter like Wanderer did, and that’s where I hope her purpose will become clear. I expect this to be the patch she‘ll become playable, too.
they didn't even give her proper introduction cutscene 😭😭 it makes me sad because she's one of my favourite harbingers, the way Childe talked about her made me excited about her plotline and The Final Feast PV was amazing. Fontaine comes out and she gets overshadowed by basically every other character. They could at least make her morally ambiguous but no they tried to make her appear as heroic as possible. I feel like they will just make her playable and be done with her plot without revealing her "wolf in sheeps clothing" side. I really hope I'm proven wrong once her arc reaches the end though. Dottore didn't have much screen time in Sumeru but we learnt more about him than Arlecchino, we could find a lot of files about him/his research in open world. His conversation with Nahida also reveals that he can't make peace with his past, it will probably be important in future for his arc. We also learnt how he values knowledge above everything else, he doesn't care if he has to kill people to get what he wants or sacrifice his segments. Bro would literally kill himself if it means achieving his goals just like how Childe would rather die fighting that whale than sit back and watch. I absolutely loved the Childe development in Fontaine, I wish they revealed more about him because I was more excited for his lore than anything they were trying to do with Arlecchino which is very sad because Arlecchino was the only reason I was hyped for Fontaine. 😔😔
You do realize that Arlecchino was acting right? just like Furina. she even said that putting masks is something she always does. she was acting nice because she is supposed to act like a sheep remember? why would we see her bad side when she purposefully wanted Traveler to only see her in a positive light. we will most likely see her real self once her mask breaks just like how we saw real Furina when her masquerade ended

I think she’ll be more center stage later. Maybe whenever she releases as playable or a future event or Story Quest. I think they wanted Arlecchino to be more of a n off screen force in the Fontaine story. Someone who says and doesn’t act evil in front of the player, but someone who is a looming pressure for Furina and still seems to have ulterior motives just by the way she says her words. I don’t think she’s done in Fontaine and the Archon quest was more of a prelude for her character.

After caterpillar, I read the "wolf in sheeps" clothing and her being terrifying/insane during combat having to do with her being a Hilichurl w/"intelligence". I'm not going to defend her at this time since we still have very limited information, but I am excited to see how her story quests goes at some point this year. I do think having a "Hilichurl" within the Fatui looking to seek revenge on Celestia is an interesting story dynamic to explore we just got to see if Hoyo is able to pull it off.
Personally, I think they could have fixed this issue by making arlecchino the one to scare furina into admitting that she isnt the archon. I mean, she was the first person to suspect furina of not being the archon. She could have doubled down into physically threatening furina and messed with her mind more until furina eventually breaks character
Exactly. Imagine if she was a lawyer in front of Furina's judge. A battle isn't neccesarily the only resource you can use to make a character intimidating. A missed bullet from Hoyoverse to make Arle a better character or at least with some memorable moments, because clearly Fontaine arc make her forgetable. Also, where's Sandrone?

Like imagine her, becoming more and more aggressive in her tone as she pressures furina into breaking character. So I'll share my opinion on arlecchino. I actually really like what they did with her. I heard what scaramouche and childe said about her. During the entire Story I was (somewhat anxiously) waiting for her to do antagonist stuff, but she didn't. I think she was meant to twist our outlook on the fatui. Maybe she even planned to get the travelers trust, since she knew that she couldn't take him head on. I could also have been an introduction to the idea that the Fatui aren't the evil guys, but just some people rebelling against celestial (very likely to be the real antagonistic force in the end). She was actively subverting my expectations on what a harbinger would do in a nation. That being said, if mihoyo decides to not do something with her and show her twisted/real personality, her character would really be pointless. In conclusion I think that arlecchino is supposed to open the traveler up to cooperating with the Fatui.
I like what they did with her tbh. Though this is because I like characters who have mystery behind them and you have to slowly get them to open up and reveal their true selves/intentions. One thing that struck with me is when she mentioned that it was necessary to have multiple masks at the end of the Fontaine quest. Though tbh, I also don’t think this is the end of Fontaine archon/main quests. The reason why I think this is because the quest seemed… too short and it doesn’t seem like it’s the end. What I’d love to see is something that involves Arlecchino a bit more in a future quest that explains more about who she is as an individual. Or perhaps more of her background. Though when it comes to her backstory and her upbringing, I don’t want it to be something that you go “Omg I feel so bad for her!!!” But rather “So that explains why she’s so f-ed up.” But with a mix of pity as well. Idk that’s just a personal thought
I get where you’re coming from, but I think you’re missing the point a bit. She’s not meant to be center stage. She’s meant to be like Dottore where they don’t actually do a lot in the AQ, but they serve as a threat looming and hiding in the background. With her though, she can and will come back later to be more center stage while in the 4.x patches. They’re not done with her character just yet.
I’ve heard rumors of a arlechino boss fight from in furinas 2nd story quest. If they’re true that’s probably when they will make her go wolf. Edit : I’d also like to note that arlechino is based off of raven from hi3. Raven to other people may seem like a ruthless killer due to her work and actions but deep down she cares for people. Arkechino could be in the same boat, she can be frickin crazy killer crazy but similar to raven her actions aren’t actually dictating her true nature. I’d argue it could be a mental condition for all we know. I just feel like her act is because she’s based on raven, raven is basically a killer, but she also cares for others.
i like this video but i feel like its a little ill timed only because she hasnt even released as a unit yet and there is a HIGH chance shes only pointless NOW but after 4.6??? idk also, her MAIN goal has always been the safety of fontaine which is why she aligns with the traveller in the latter parts of the archon quest that weve seen so far. idk i really think her crazy moment will eventually come lol.
The Fatui are not the endgame antagonists in this story. How can she be pointless to the story when we need to build up the Traveler working with the Fatui against the endgame villains? And that’s as an organization, not an individual like Childe. Everything we’ve seen from her is largely just setup at this point anyway. Most of these complaints seem to boil down to her not being pure evil, which is unrelated to the quality of the writing.

@@ItsJustT Is she though? She’s a forcing function in the narrative. You mentioned this a bit, but she’s there to put pressure on Furina and Neuvillette. Nobody but another Harbinger can do that after Childe was taken. It needs to be a foreigner to introduce the threat of international diplomacy and danger, and it needs to be someone with power and not, like, some random Fatui grunt. If not for that, Traveler never goes to Meropide and never finds out about the source of Primordial Seawater. Without her, Traveler also never gets the idea that Furina isn’t the true Archon - something even Neuvillette never suspected, and there’s no reason any random person in Fontaine would be taken seriously even if they did suspect, which they don’t.
I see your points, maybe the good alliance part with the traveler is just a facade for a grander scheme she has in her pointed out personality. they can take her story later anywhere, just disapointing thad we didnt get that in Fontain. She will become playable in 4.6 so she will obviously have story relevance again, besides it's obvious she has personal motives that we don't know about and is probably planning to do something with the gnosis. My only concern is if giving her a villain arc and then a redemption in the same version would feel rushed, hopefully they execute it nicely
I completely agree. She's one of my favorites, and I'm thoroughly disappointed that not only she didn't do anything, you can cut her out, and the plot wouldn't change. Plus, she didn't even have a title card. The game talked her up, and she's just passive? I expected her to exploit Furina and out her for not dealing with the prophey and whatnot. Essentially creating chaos but no. She's just lackadaisical fan service. She has a Vision as well, and HoYo is allergic to evil characters and only markets good ones. So there's talk that she's going to be playable. I fear she's going through the same treatment as Childe, where the devs beat us over the head that they're "good deep down and not wholly evil." And don't get me started on the Childe. Literally, the only reason he's here is because he met the Narwhal, and even then, that wasn't relevant. And he was used as a segue for Skirk. That's it. He was basically a plot device in the coolest, laziest way possible.
Yeah but unlike childe, she has no reason to being an ally. Childe has a shneznayan family, that we'll see in the future, he cant die or be entirely evil as long as they exist cause he loves them and tries to be a good old brother. Plus he is one of the most loyal or even naive supporter to the tsaritsa dream, and there's also the whole narwhal, the abyss stuff and the "primordial human" (go check the narssisenkreuz quest) make sense he cant be full evil, and has such cant die so easily before shneznaya But here arlechinno has no family and no interest, even in the tsaritsa's dream, she just control the orphanage with some bunch of children, and she is supposed to be strict and manipulative, and here nothing happened
@djampoucheukap1742 I don't expect Childe to be evil. In fact, he's one of my favorite characters. I'm just tired of HoYo constantly shoving it in our face to prove that he's not. If anything, he's chaotic neutral and I'm fine with that. I just wished he wasn't a plot device for Fontaine.

I understand what's being said and I agree with some of it but I feel like we're acting like all of her screen time is done, like she'll never get anymore presence in the story. I agree that she hasn't lived up to this "crazy" chaotic reputation she's been given but I think that's just because they haven't showed it yet, they're building up to it. Maybe I'm just coping but I have faith that her roll in the ongoing plot isn't done, we know she's getting a story quest and we know she'll probably return in the future, so maybe her roll in the Fontaine acts are a little weak but I don't think it's fair to say she's a failed character, especially when there's so much more to see. It just seems like everyone is so impatiently waiting for her to snap and go insane when it's more than likely going to be a slow build up. We've never met her before, so our first few interactions with her aren't going to be seeing her true self, especially because she's written to be mysterious, why would she show us her true nature? She has every reason to hide her true intentions from us for as long as she can.
I think her impact as a Fatuus being disappointing needs to be tempered by the fact that she's been built up in the past to betray the Fatui at some point. She was always an odd one out. I think her appearing mostly harmless up until this point is just setting up for a 3.5 shocker

Perhaps that’s just it. The whole Fontaine quest to the Knave was was a lie. Her acting, if you will. I don’t think we’re done with her. Not yet anyway. Perhaps we’ll see her again in the nation of cryo. If the game lasts that long.
I think Arlecchino’s minimal impact (hah) so far is a small symptom of the greater problem with the Fatui and the Harbingers. There’s a pretty clear foreshadowing that in the future the Traveler may be “teaming up” with the Fatui to fight a greater foe, and that’s supposed to be a gut-wrenching, difficult decision. However, with Hoyoverse backing off of making many of the playable Harbingers very “villainous”, it means that the “difficulty” behind that choice for the Traveler is going to fall flat. Childe is very polarizing; Wanderer is fundamentally a different character than Scaramouche. If they go the same way with Arlecchino or any other Harbingers, it will hurt the themes of their story.
Arlecchino is the reason why the Traveler was able to bring Furina to trial under the accusation of not being the Hydro Archon, which was instrumental in subverting the prophecy. Plus, everything about her being someone who would be willing to betray the Fatui to attain her personal goals fits with her behavior in Fontaine, since her personal goals seem to be averting the prophecy, and she was crazy enough to be willing to try and assassinate someone she thought was possibly the Hydro Archon (who she thought was not taking the threat of the prophecy seriously) in a 1v1 fight (which is when she got the info needed for point 1). And no one else in Fontaine would have been able to order the Fatui to help dig the tunnel to bring Furina to court or help with repairs afterwards, except maybe Childe and possibly Sandrone, neither of whom are equally likely to have the desire to do so (and Childe was kinda occupied with accidentally playing a part in delaying the flood long enough for Arleccino to help arrange the prophecized trial by fighting the All-Devouring Narwhal). I'm going that the final Fontaine region will deliver into whether or not her arms and fixation on saving Fontaine are related to the Narcissenkreuz Ordo. And maybe we get to see her having a moderately threatening conversation with Childe about how the only reason she doesn't tear his throat out for his role in a plan to unleash a divine flood on another nation which also resulted in a bunch of House of the Hearth alumni being abandoned to starve to death or get devoured by Abyssal monsters in the Chasm was his role in saving Fontaine from being subjected to a divine flood and which involved personally protecting Fontainians from being devoured by an Abyssal monster.

Apologies, but I haven't read the Dottore web manga. Along with that, Signora hasn't had much more screentime than Arlecchino anyway. I don't think Arlecchino getting more development is exactly good because now we need to introduce 6 more harbingers

My current theory is that writing a "nice" and helpful harbinger means they get to skip all the criteria you listed the other harbingers have (malicious intent loss of composure etc) and the easiest way to make her playable and get her out of the way for the next harbinger. Considering she's a future character it basically means she's going to be written to be amicable with the traveler, no need to design a boss fight or a redemption plotline or anything

I think the main problem is that Mihoyo realized the CN-community HATES evil characters. They only want super nice and friendly waifus, the things they did because they didn't like Scaramouche as a character...are quite frankly disgusting. So I think Arlecchino was originally intended to be a lot more conniving and unhinged, but Mihoyo had to scale back drastically when they realized their CN base can't handle such characters, and now she is just another generic nice girl, like all the rest.
It's always the CN players and they complain Abt the rewards too which is understandable but I literally said that they are the ones who most sexualize the characters even the ones that aren't meant to be...given they aren't the only ones but still
It's not just the cn player, it's the same in other regions. 40% of the user base is teenagers and they want actors with a clear distinction between good and evil. And playable characters always want to be good.
I was really looking forward to her after seeing the story teasers. But when she appeared in game, she felt like......... another random NPC. She did absolutely nothing except talking politely, and not even menacingly. Even the part where she threatened Furina, which seemed really important in the trailer, was done via visual novel style exposition. She can be totally removed from the plot and won't change anything in the story. So yes, she is pointless. Which is kinda sad because it made me feel like i don't really want to pull for her anymore (which happened to all the characters from Fontaine patch for me).

I think it may be a bit too early. I don't think it's over. We may be getting Arla with a boss fight in 4.6. We'll see. But I don't like Childe at all. Another comment on the "no other nations had a missing harbinger." We did encounter Signora and on that note this is why they should let us re-live events because Scara did show up there as well during the meteor "falling star" event. :(
To be completely honest, I do get what you mean. Though my belief is that like childe, she’ll have relevance in Natlan, in comparison to her being more behind the scenes as she is in Fontaine. That being said, I’ve been a fan of hers since a bit before lazzo, and the lazzo video hyped it for me. Finally a fem Genshin character who isn’t as fanserviced as characters like Yelan, and has a cool asf color scheme and design. (Not a yelan hater, she’s one of my favs for the way she literally steals from Pantalone.)
I would agree with you for now! But I don’t think the story with her has ended yet. Come 4.6 I think she will be given a purpose and we are just not there yet in the story and all her actions so far have been to build trust and take the eyes of her as she is up to something else and getting the noses was a side job.
Imma say this as many may not know. Fatui are not the main villains and some in the group aren't villains at all. Jumping into conclusions when her task was find the gnosis and save fontain per her request. She is also putting up a front as if tartag and sacra dont trust her its for a good reason

Agreed, they could have done better with her character, so far I'mm just not impressed with her, just as I found it to be unnessecary for Lyney and Lyette to be Fatui agents and Neuvillete to be the Hydro Sovereign. And this overall Fontaine Archon Quest felt lackluster just as the other two nations before that and this one focused way too much on it's Taylor Swift wannabe aka Navia. This Genshin Impact kind of fails as adding more dpeth to existing playable characters it gives way too much spotlight to irrevelant NPCs.
Y'know there's two weekly bosses per region right, so I think there's still a solid chance for the wolf to step out of the sheeps clothing, could even happen in a second furina story quest, as she does have some intense fear built up towards arlechino. But we'll have to wait til 4.5-6 to see for sure
Its so wild that wanderer and childe talked about how we shouldnt trust her and she seems friendly but every appearance she made gave me the most unsettling vibes. Idk how she's even supposed to seem like someone I could trust 😂🤔
Sounds typical. A lot of these types of stories does this- introduce a whole roster of elite baddies, but it's hard to give them all significant roles in the story. But the hype has been built up for each of them so you have to try or just find a way to dump some of them off...or off screen. Usually with this set up the beginning, middle, and end characters will be the best while the others feel more like props to the plot they are currently involved in. Because Genshin is a serialized story that goes forward narrowly instead of encompassing the events of the whole world, it's hard to really make good use of all Fatui. Much like the gacha characters, they only serve as bricks in a narrow and straightforward road that always goes forward.
I think everything you said about Arle can be applied even better to Childe, why is he here? He got fleshed out already, they didn't do anything with him except "delay the whale" which could have been written in a myriad of other ways, if anything, he just feels like he is here to introduce Skirk in a clunky way.
I get it. I don't really like Fontaine in general really, but I do think Childe introducing Skirk already justifies him more, whether it's good or bad. I'm glad you pointed this out though.
I think this is more of a Fontaine story problem in general. There are two lead characters: Furina and Neuvilette, there is a Traveler who serves for a focal point and... that's it. Everyone else is just along for the ride, their stories and themes are either left completely out of the picture (Chlorinde, Arlecchino) or not relevant to the main plot (Wrio, Navia).
She was set up to be the most insane crazy and brutal harbinger. I don’t know she didn’t hit it. Sure she’s kind of creepy but not scary. She was even an ally than a villain. This is most like because she will be playable unlike someone like the captain. Who can go all out without needing to be redeemed like Scara or Arle. And she’s super carrying for kids. Do you think she’s evil after knowing that?
I feel like its unfair to compare arlecchino to scaramouce and childe when those two have been developed across nations. Its like making a video saying scaramouce is pointless because all he did was was show up, make the traveler sick, get the gnosis in exchange for their life then leave. I feel it wouldve been better to do an analysis after fontaines story is over cause it clearly isnt

I like your argument and it does make a lot of sense, but I think this Fontaine ark was just a ploy. Think about it, she is a "Wolf in sheep's clothing" what if all she was doing was simply making good relationship with the Traveler, which in future will make the traveler trust her with something, and then we shall get the evil plot twist. I mean all voice lines and pre Fontaine materials and shorts depict her as a manipulative person with a calming and gentle disguise. All her Fontaine presence was all to set her up as a good and trustworthy character that can so easily betray or manipulate us in the future story quests
Her character has been so disappointing so far, it's a serious shame. Her design and the way Childe/Scara spoke of her made her seem so interesting and mysterious. I really hope in 4.6 she does something unexpected that shows that crazy side of her she has been hiding from us, if not shes going to be one of Genshins biggest writing let downs yet.

If she dosen't turn out to be a monster, we could expect that from Sandrone. She seems pretty crazy so far especially after what she did to her subordinate in the Sir Arthur world quest.
i know it is just your personal opinion but if you want some action and pressure from a fatui harbinger, then grow up already. A well written character is not supposed to show how skillful they are in the first chapter of the story quest, we also know that Arlecchino has her own views and goals so it is reasonable that she acts differently. Besides the Fontaine quests are still to come out so we will see more Arlecchino's content

I agree. She's so much more mysterious than what she was shown. Especially how brutal, ruthless it was when she attempted to kill Furina. She looked terrifying. But all she did was commanding the children to save the nation, however doesn't care about the life of the archon. I actually personally don't think this bad for the storytelling, because I'm sure we will get more of her insane side in the future.
1. fatui are not straight out villans in the story but are diplomats from sneznaya and the tsaritsa
2. childe and signora works are not a lot appricated by the fatui as they the opposite things diplomats do
3. childe and signorma used non diplomatic ways in mons and liyue places where the archons were ready to give the gnosis willingly and they painted fatui in a wrong way
4. knave on the other hand took the gnosis by painting the fatui as fontaine’s well wishers (if signora was in her place she would use the oppurtunity to stir up even further)
further we should not forget that fontaine is main mass media place in tevyat thanks to steambird and theatre culture
5. knave being head of fatui intelligence would already know that neuvilette is hydro soverign and fighting againist him is pointless
6. on one world quest we hear sondrone (7th fatui) saying sorry to taveller for loss of his clockwork friend and mercilessly killing the person who was caused it (he was also hired by her only)

the game has dropped positve things about everyone, khanriah the abyss fatui and even the heveanly principles (there is a confusion that who actually is wrong)but info is all scaterred across tevyat and not included in the archon quest (they atleast should have hinted them in the archon quest)

I think you are jumping to conclusion based on the repeated formula used as of now by genshin, not considering that formulas are a guidelines not law.
Now I'm gonna be upfront, as yours are opinions so are mine. As of now we had fatuis that start off bad with a sort of redemption arc to justify their playability: in the case of Scaramouch we quite literally have a redemption arc, while Tartaglia was just never really "evil" and has been helpful since the liyue events (I don't think we should be talking about Dottore and Signora since their stories are not concluded, and yes I am saying that la Signora's story is not concluded yet). On the other hand we know that Arlecchino is a two-faced manipulator that scare off even her comrades from the voicelines, but as we meet her she is a loving father that cares for her children and her nation, helps out in the background without asking for rewards, if not alliances profitable for both parties, and doesn't kill if she doesn't need to.
To me they clearly want to flip the formula around and start her off with the "redemption arc", being all buddy buddy, become allies, helping eachother to than backstab at opportune moment, not only us travelers but even her own children and maybe even the other fatui harbingers. She is a strategist that don't need battles to win the bigger war, because she knows how and when to use her chess pieces. The reason she appears for the first time in the region of opera and justice where the archon is just an actress that plays the part of a goddess is because Arlecchino herself is an actress, concealing her true intentions behind a mask and puppeteering your emotions to feel like she isn't such a cruel bigshot, while in reality she is a monster playing the part of a human.
Overall no harbinger as of now has completely outed themselves in just 1 region, they all had arcs revolving around multiple regions. Saying that the most secretive of them is useless in the one region we saw her doing something in is a bit of a leap without knowing the bigger picture. (we actually don't even really SEE her do anything; all her dealings are just reported to us by her or by others that gained something frone said dealings)
Tl;dr: I think she is flipping the fatui harbinger formula and there is much more to come in the future for her.
Childe tried to genocide the entire nation for thrills, I can't say that he was not "evil" after that. As for the rest, we have to wait for interlude to drop, usually it is packed with important and dramatic stuff but I wouldn't get my hopes too high since we have Neuvilette who can easily take the spotlight and is a fan favorite.
@@SelikBzdyyou could still argue he’s evil but he didn’t unseal Osial for thrills. He explicitly said he was doing it to draw out Morax as a last resort and he’d wanted to avoid civilian casualties. But the mission comes first.
I think Arlecchino feels so different compared to the other Harbingers is because the Fatui are not antagonistic in the Fontaine Archon Quest. The most their scheming comes down to is trying to get the gnosis (as seen during Lyney and Lynette's magic show and Arlecchino's attack on Furina), something we'd expect. They didn't try to trigger the prophecy or anything.
Arlecchino has her own agenda, it's just not as personal as the others' because of her role as the Director of the House of the Hearth
I don't agree with all points that you make I feel like she serves as a background foil for the story at this point. What we see is her Political face she sets things up to show that things aren't necessarily all that they seem to be. I have a feeling that she is setting the ground for some major upheaval in the story by fostering goodwill with the help provided by the Fatui. It reeks of set up to me the fact that they hinted at betrayal and craziness means she's set up to be a cover distraction for something more subtle. I do agree it's disappointing we didn't get to see it in the first major arc but I feel like something bigger is coming that will justify it. I've seen villain roles like hers before and most times they are used to great effect.

Chapter 1 of Genshin will not end until Khaenri'ah and the number of this act is blurred because there may be one before it and after Snezhnaya which can make all the hanbingers appear
@@Keiki-kun I don't know about Pantalone but Pulcinella is definitely not an "ordinary human" since he's the Snezhnayan flagship character from the Teyvat trailer, and it's already been confirmed that all characters that appeared there will be playable at some point.

My take on arle is that shes IS a plot twist just by doing nothing, shes breaking the formula just like focalos not being a archon and giving power back to a dragon did, see, everyone says shes evil, even the “evil” childe and scara fear and despise her, she looks evil, present herself as evil, the entire time in fontain we are just eaiting for her to betray us or snap but it never comes, the hole idea is to show us that not all fatui are bad guys (lyney and the gang) and that the travler dont have to be enemies much like the previous story shown how the abyss order too are not that bad, and celestia and the archons are not all good, plus don’t forget that arlechino story is not over, we meet scara at 1.1 and only got to fight him at sumeru...

Exactly. I think it's little too early for a final verdict. If she'll be released as a playable character after Chiori, I think it's safe to say that we'll get more main story revolving around her. And that could be the moment where they pull the rug from under us. I can't imagine Mihoyo making us care so much for Navia and then Navia (and the Traveller him/herself in the end) naively getting close to Arlecchino without any plottwist. And that plot twist could then be the lead-up to the next region.
But if there won't be anymore story that gives Arlecchinos prior role in the Fontaine Archon quest more background, I agree that she was kinda pointless...

it’s interesting, i do like her character and i wished to see more of her in the archon quests but considering the harbingers mostly do a lot in nations she most likely did the bare minimum and got the gnosis just handed to her after doing the tiniest bit of nothing behind the scenes.

I saw it as serving a relatively minor role to give added pressure to Furina, Didn't really expect any more since the main focus of fontaines story wasn't her anyways, We havent even seen the information from Childe and Scaramouche's voicelines put into action yet.
And if we're taking in leaks into this now theres some sus leaks about 4.6.
First of all, this is the first time we're meeting her. That's why there's no real action from her. That will show how villainous she really can be.
Secondly, when we see her the next time, when she actually becomes a playable character like Childe we'll probably end up fighting her. I honestly think you're just jumping way too far ahead in the story. And you're going to see exactly what everybody else was saying about her later on. So please be patient and let my girl do what she do.
My problem is the other three harbingers carried themselves and didn't need to wait an incredibly long time. La Signora is an exception, but making Arlecchino more long term is flawed bc they need to introduce other harbingers too

I believe Arlecchino is "Wolf in Sheep's clothing". We know from lyney and freminet's story that she can kill if she wants. Also from wanderer's and childe's lines she has more to offer. Their lines are not about the previous arlecchino, because childe didn't met her, as this Arlecchino took the "knave" title, several years ago.
Arlecchino‘s ark didn’t appear to be over yet for me. I always assumed she’d get an interlude chapter like Wanderer did, and that’s where I hope her purpose will become clear. I expect this to be the patch she‘ll become playable, too.
they didn't even give her proper introduction cutscene 😭😭 it makes me sad because she's one of my favourite harbingers, the way Childe talked about her made me excited about her plotline and The Final Feast PV was amazing. Fontaine comes out and she gets overshadowed by basically every other character. They could at least make her morally ambiguous but no they tried to make her appear as heroic as possible. I feel like they will just make her playable and be done with her plot without revealing her "wolf in sheeps clothing" side. I really hope I'm proven wrong once her arc reaches the end though.
Dottore didn't have much screen time in Sumeru but we learnt more about him than Arlecchino, we could find a lot of files about him/his research in open world. His conversation with Nahida also reveals that he can't make peace with his past, it will probably be important in future for his arc. We also learnt how he values knowledge above everything else, he doesn't care if he has to kill people to get what he wants or sacrifice his segments. Bro would literally kill himself if it means achieving his goals just like how Childe would rather die fighting that whale than sit back and watch. I absolutely loved the Childe development in Fontaine, I wish they revealed more about him because I was more excited for his lore than anything they were trying to do with Arlecchino which is very sad because Arlecchino was the only reason I was hyped for Fontaine. 😔😔
You do realize that Arlecchino was acting right? just like Furina. she even said that putting masks is something she always does. she was acting nice because she is supposed to act like a sheep remember? why would we see her bad side when she purposefully wanted Traveler to only see her in a positive light.

I think she’ll be more center stage later. Maybe whenever she releases as playable or a future event or Story Quest. I think they wanted Arlecchino to be more of a n off screen force in the Fontaine story. Someone who says and doesn’t act evil in front of the player, but someone who is a looming pressure for Furina and still seems to have ulterior motives just by the way she says her words. I don’t think she’s done in Fontaine and the Archon quest was more of a prelude for her character.

After caterpillar, I read the "wolf in sheeps" clothing and her being terrifying/insane during combat having to do with her being a Hilichurl w/"intelligence". I'm not going to defend her at this time since we still have very limited information, but I am excited to see how her story quests goes at some point this year. I do think having a "Hilichurl" within the Fatui looking to seek revenge on Celestia is an interesting story dynamic to explore we just got to see if Hoyo is able to pull it off.
Personally, I think they could have fixed this issue by making arlecchino the one to scare furina into admitting that she isnt the archon. I mean, she was the first person to suspect furina of not being the archon. She could have doubled down into physically threatening furina and messed with her mind more until furina eventually breaks character
Exactly. Imagine if she was a lawyer in front of Furina's judge. A battle isn't neccesarily the only resource you can use to make a character intimidating. A missed bullet from Hoyoverse to make Arle a better character or at least with some memorable moments, because clearly Fontaine arc make her forgetable. Also, where's Sandrone?

Like imagine her, becoming more and more aggressive in her tone as she pressures furina into breaking character. And when she eventually does, the "house" they were in falls apart and revealing that they are in the opera and everyone basically heard furina break character
So I'll share my opinion on arlecchino. I actually really like what they did with her. I heard what scaramouche and childe said about her. During the entire Story I was (somewhat anxiously) waiting for her to do antagonist stuff, but she didn't. I think she was meant to twist our outlook on the fatui. Maybe she even planned to get the travelers trust, since she knew that she couldn't take him head on. I could also have been an introduction to the idea that the Fatui aren't the evil guys, but just some people rebelling against celestial (very likely to be the real antagonistic force in the end). She was actively subverting my expectations on what a harbinger would do in a nation.
That being said, if mihoyo decides to not do something with her and show her twisted/real personality, her character would really be pointless.
In conclusion I think that arlecchino is supposed to open the traveler up to cooperating with the Fatui.

I like what they did with her tbh. Though this is because I like characters who have mystery behind them and you have to slowly get them to open up and reveal their true selves/intentions. One thing that struck with me is when she mentioned that it was necessary to have multiple masks at the end of the Fontaine quest. Though tbh, I also don’t think this is the end of Fontaine archon/main quests. The reason why I think this is because the quest seemed… too short and it doesn’t seem like it’s the end. What I’d love to see is something that involves Arlecchino a bit more in a future quest that explains more about who she is as an individual. Or perhaps more of her background. Though when it comes to her backstory and her upbringing, I don’t want it to be something that you go “Omg I feel so bad for her!!!” But rather “So that explains why she’s so f-ed up.” But with a mix of pity as well. Idk that’s just a personal thought
I get where you’re coming from, but I think you’re missing the point a bit. She’s not meant to be center stage. She’s meant to be like Dottore where they don’t actually do a lot in the AQ, but they serve as a threat looming and hiding in the background. With her though, she can and will come back later to be more center stage while in the 4.x patches. They’re not done with her character just yet.
I’ve heard rumors of a arlechino boss fight from in furinas 2nd story quest. If they’re true that’s probably when they will make her go wolf.
Edit : I’d also like to note that arlechino is based off of raven from hi3. Raven to other people may seem like a ruthless killer due to her work and actions but deep down she cares for people. Arkechino could be in the same boat, she can be frickin crazy killer crazy but similar to raven her actions aren’t actually dictating her true nature. I’d argue it could be a mental condition for all we know. I just feel like her act is because she’s based on raven, raven is basically a killer, but she also cares for others.

also, her MAIN goal has always been the safety of fontaine which is why she aligns with the traveller in the latter parts of the archon quest that weve seen so far. idk i really think her crazy moment will eventually come lol.
The Fatui are not the endgame antagonists in this story. How can she be pointless to the story when we need to build up the Traveler working with the Fatui against the endgame villains? And that’s as an organization, not an individual like Childe. Everything we’ve seen from her is largely just setup at this point anyway.
Most of these complaints seem to boil down to her not being pure evil, which is unrelated to the quality of the writing.

@@ItsJustT How did she fail as a harbinger? She got the gnosis which seems to be the main goal for the Fatui during the Story. Also, her whole character is meant to be that of a background and looming threat that may come to be more of what you expect of a harbinger later. I don’t think she’s done.
@@ItsJustT Is she though? She’s a forcing function in the narrative. You mentioned this a bit, but she’s there to put pressure on Furina and Neuvillette. Nobody but another Harbinger can do that after Childe was taken. It needs to be a foreigner to introduce the threat of international diplomacy and danger, and it needs to be someone with power and not, like, some random Fatui grunt. If not for that, Traveler never goes to Meropide and never finds out about the source of Primordial Seawater. Without her, Traveler also never gets the idea that Furina isn’t the true Archon - something even Neuvillette never suspected, and there’s no reason any random person in Fontaine would be taken seriously even if they did suspect, which they don’t.
Remember we have the magic pocket sub plot going still.
I see your points, maybe the good alliance part with the traveler is just a facade for a grander scheme she has in her pointed out personality. they can take her story later anywhere, just disapointing thad we didnt get that in Fontain. You are judging way too early. She will become playable in 4.6 so she will obviously have story relevance again, besides it's obvious she has personal motives that we don't know about and is probably planning to do something with the gnosis. My only concern is if giving her a villain arc and then a redemption in the same version would feel rushed, hopefully they execute it nicely

I completely agree. She's one of my favorites, and I'm thoroughly disappointed that not only she didn't do anything, you can cut her out, and the plot wouldn't change. Plus, she didn't even have a title card. The game talked her up, and she's just passive? I expected her to exploit Furina and out her for not dealing with the prophey and whatnot. Essentially creating chaos but no. She's just lackadaisical fan service. She has a Vision as well, and HoYo is allergic to evil characters and only markets good ones. So there's talk that she's going to be playable. I fear she's going through the same treatment as Childe, where the devs beat us over the head that they're "good deep down and not wholly evil."
And don't get me started on the Childe. Literally, the only reason he's here is because he met the Narwhal, and even then, that wasn't relevant. And he was used as a segue for Skirk. That's it. He was basically a plot device in the coolest, laziest way possible.
Yeah but unlike childe, she has no reason to being an ally. Childe has a shneznayan family, that we'll see in the future, he cant die or be entirely evil as long as they exist cause he loves them and tries to be a good old brother.
Plus he is one of the most loyal or even naive supporter to the tsaritsa dream, and there's also the whole narwhal, the abyss stuff and the "primordial human" (go check the narssisenkreuz quest) make sense he cant be full evil, and has such cant die so easily before shneznaya
But here arlechinno has no family and no interest, even in the tsaritsa's dream, she just control the orphanage with some bunch of children, and she is supposed to be strict and manipulative, and here nothing happened

I understand what's being said and I agree with some of it but I feel like we're acting like all of her screen time is done, like she'll never get anymore presence in the story. I agree that she hasn't lived up to this "crazy" chaotic reputation she's been given but I think that's just because they haven't showed it yet, they're building up to it. Maybe I'm just coping but I have faith that her roll in the ongoing plot isn't done, we know she's getting a story quest and we know she'll probably return in the future, so maybe her roll in the Fontaine acts are a little weak but I don't think it's fair to say she's a failed character, especially when there's so much more to see. It just seems like everyone is so impatiently waiting for her to snap and go insane when it's more than likely going to be a slow build up. We've never met her before, so our first few interactions with her aren't going to be seeing her true self, especially because she's written to be mysterious, why would she show us her true nature? She has every reason to hide her true intentions from us for as long as she can.

I think her impact as a Fatuus being disappointing needs to be tempered by the fact that she's been built up in the past to betray the Fatui at some point. She was always an odd one out. I think her appearing mostly harmless up until this point is just setting up for a 3.5 shocker

I think Arlecchino’s minimal impact (hah) so far is a small symptom of the greater problem with the Fatui and the Harbingers. There’s a pretty clear foreshadowing that in the future the Traveler may be “teaming up” with the Fatui to fight a greater foe, and that’s supposed to be a gut-wrenching, difficult decision. However, with Hoyoverse backing off of making many of the playable Harbingers very “villainous”, it means that the “difficulty” behind that choice for the Traveler is going to fall flat. Childe is very polarizing; Wanderer is fundamentally a different character than Scaramouche. If they go the same way with Arlecchino or any other Harbingers, it will hurt the themes of their story.
I'm just enjoying how he occasionally fucks up Arlecchino's name in the captions.

Arlecchino is the reason why the Traveler was able to bring Furina to trial under the accusation of not being the Hydro Archon, which was instrumental in subverting the prophecy. Plus, everything about her being someone who would be willing to betray the Fatui to attain her personal goals fits with her behavior in Fontaine, since her personal goals seem to be averting the prophecy, and she was crazy enough to be willing to try and assassinate someone she thought was possibly the Hydro Archon (who she thought was not taking the threat of the prophecy seriously) in a 1v1 fight (which is when she got the info needed for point 1).
And no one else in Fontaine would have been able to order the Fatui to help dig the tunnel to bring Furina to court or help with repairs afterwards, except maybe Childe and possibly Sandrone, neither of whom are equally likely to have the desire to do so (and Childe was kinda occupied with accidentally playing a part in delaying the flood long enough for Arleccino to help arrange the prophecized trial by fighting the All-Devouring Narwhal).
I'm going that the final Fontaine region will deliver into whether or not her arms and fixation on saving Fontaine are related to the Narcissenkreuz Ordo. And maybe we get to see her having a moderately threatening conversation with Childe about how the only reason she doesn't tear his throat out for his role in a plan to unleash a divine flood on another nation which also resulted in a bunch of House of the Hearth alumni being abandoned to starve to death or get devoured by Abyssal monsters in the Chasm was his role in saving Fontaine from being subjected to a divine flood and which involved personally protecting Fontainians from being devoured by an Abyssal monster.

We know that she went to study in Sumeru, that she came from Mond, she had a lover, when the cataclysm happened her lover died and that was why she became the crimson witch of flames and that after that Pierro brought her to the Fatui and used the delusion to calm her anger and flames before she died from consuming all her life for power

My current theory is that writing a "nice" and helpful harbinger means they get to skip all the criteria you listed the other harbingers have (malicious intent loss of composure etc) and the easiest way to make her playable and get her out of the way for the next harbinger. Considering she's a future character it basically means she's going to be written to be amicable with the traveler, no need to design a boss fight or a redemption plotline or anything
this is truly a heartbreaking moment. Hopefully they pull a Scaramouche and have all the good stuff when she's released

I think the main problem is that Mihoyo realized the CN-community HATES evil characters. They only want super nice and friendly waifus, the things they did because they didn't like Scaramouche as a character...are quite frankly disgusting. So I think Arlecchino was originally intended to be a lot more conniving and unhinged, but Mihoyo had to scale back drastically when they realized their CN base can't handle such characters, and now she is just another generic nice girl, like all the rest.
I hope not. If that's the case, then the story suffers, and I'll just quit the game
It's always the CN players and they complain Abt the rewards too which is understandable but I literally said that they are the ones who most sexualize the characters even the ones that aren't meant to be...given they aren't the only ones but still
It's not just the cn player, it's the same in other regions. 40% of the user base is teenagers and they want actors with a clear distinction between good and evil. And playable characters always want to be good.

I was really looking forward to her after seeing the story teasers. But when she appeared in game, she felt like......... another random NPC. She did absolutely nothing except talking politely, and not even menacingly. Even the part where she threatened Furina, which seemed really important in the trailer, was done via visual novel style exposition. She can be totally removed from the plot and won't change anything in the story. So yes, she is pointless. Which is kinda sad because it made me feel like i don't really want to pull for her anymore (which happened to all the characters from Fontaine patch for me).

To be completely honest, I do get what you mean. Though my belief is that like childe, she’ll have relevance in Natlan, in comparison to her being more behind the scenes as she is in Fontaine.
That being said, I’ve been a fan of hers since a bit before lazzo, and the lazzo video hyped it for me.
Finally a fem Genshin character who isn’t as fanserviced as characters like Yelan, and has a cool asf color scheme and design.
(Not a yelan hater, she’s one of my favs for the way she literally steals from Pantalone.)
I would agree with you for now! But I don’t think the story with her has ended yet. Come 4.6 I think she will be given a purpose and we are just not there yet in the story and all her actions so far have been to build trust and take the eyes of her as she is up to something else and getting the noses was a side job.

Agreed, they could have done better with her character, so far I'mm just not impressed with her, just as I found it to be unnessecary for Lyney and Lyette to be Fatui agents and Neuvillete to be the Hydro Sovereign. And this overall Fontaine Archon Quest felt lackluster just as the other two nations before that and this one focused way too much on it's Taylor Swift wannabe aka Navia. This Genshin Impact kind of fails as adding more dpeth to existing playable characters it gives way too much spotlight to irrevelant NPCs.
Y'know there's two weekly bosses per region right, so I think there's still a solid chance for the wolf to step out of the sheeps clothing, could even happen in a second furina story quest, as she does have some intense fear built up towards arlechino. But we'll have to wait til 4.5-6 to see for sure

Sounds typical. A lot of these types of stories does this- introduce a whole roster of elite baddies, but it's hard to give them all significant roles in the story. But the hype has been built up for each of them so you have to try or just find a way to dump some of them off...or off screen. Usually with this set up the beginning, middle, and end characters will be the best while the others feel more like props to the plot they are currently involved in. Because Genshin is a serialized story that goes forward narrowly instead of encompassing the events of the whole world, it's hard to really make good use of all Fatui. Much like the gacha characters, they only serve as bricks in a narrow and straightforward road that always goes forward.
I think everything you said about Arle can be applied even better to Childe, why is he here? He got fleshed out already, they didn't do anything with him except "delay the whale" which could have been written in a myriad of other ways, if anything, he just feels like he is here to introduce Skirk in a clunky way.
I get it. I don't really like Fontaine in general really, but I do think Childe introducing Skirk already justifies him more, whether it's good or bad. I'm glad you pointed this out though.

I think this is more of a Fontaine story problem in general. There are two lead characters: Furina and Neuvilette, there is a Traveler who serves for a focal point and... that's it. Everyone else is just along for the ride, their stories and themes are either left completely out of the picture (Chlorinde, Arlecchino) or not relevant to the main plot (Wrio, Navia).
Navia is important to the plot man, agree for everything except for her

Its like making a video saying scaramouce is pointless because all he did was was show up, make the traveler sick, get the gnosis in exchange for their life then leave. I like your argument and it does make a lot of sense, but I think this Fontaine ark was just a ploy. Think about it, she is a "Wolf in sheep's clothing" what if all she was doing was simply making good relationship with the Traveler, which in future will make the traveler trust her with something, and then we shall get the evil plot twist.
I mean all voice lines and pre Fontaine materials and shorts depict her as a manipulative person with a calming and gentle disguise.
All her Fontaine presence was all to set her up as a good and trustworthy character that can so easily betray or manipulate us in the future story quests
We'll see, I guess. I just feel so iffy on the idea of her getting a bunch more content when there's 6 more harbingers left

Her character has been so disappointing so far, it's a serious shame. Her design and the way Childe/Scara spoke of her made her seem so interesting and mysterious. I really hope in 4.6 she does something unexpected that shows that crazy side of her she has been hiding from us, if not shes going to be one of Genshins biggest writing let downs yet.

If she dosen't turn out to be a monster, we could expect that from Sandrone. She seems pretty crazy so far especially after what she did to her subordinate in the Sir Arthur world quest.

A well written character is not supposed to show how skillful they are in the first chapter of the story quest, we also know that Arlecchino has her own views and goals so it is reasonable that she acts differently. Besides the Fontaine quests are still to come out so we will see more Arlecchino's content
