I'm late to the game, but finally picked this up. really looking forward to playing it. after opening it up, I caved and ordered the 2 expansions and 3 mini packs. It's been on my list a long time but i just never pulled the trigger.
so i have a question, so i will play this with my friends. Will they all have to download the app or is it just one person? if everyone needs to download the app could you pare them with each other so everyone plays the same story, or if its just one person is it better to have a something with a big screen ?
sorry it's been over a year since i played and don't remember. but if youask at boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/269385/lord-rings-journeys-middle-earth/forums/0 i'm confident you'll get the answers you seek! :)
why didn‘t they choose arwen and eowyn? if the game doesn‘t care who meets when, at least girls who want to play girls can play girls whose names they know 😢 the movies already built those two up with arwen saving frodo from the wraiths and eowyn killing the witch king so i feel quite sad that’s not worth more than generic no names 😢
Yeah I didn't get that either, Eowyn is one of my favourite characters. I know she's not in the books but they could've just added Tauriel too instead of making up characters. Maybe in future expansions I guess.
I believe they wanted a character to have it's own specific role and diversify the gameplay, and roles of Arwen or Eowyn were already present, i suppose
Your incorrect by saying that Tolkien wasn’t “Progressive when it comes to lady adventurers.” The game just wants to make money-they care nothing for inclusiveness. Compared to the insanity of our day, no age was progressive. But Tolkien absolutely was for his age, especially in including female roles. But he was also a rationalist. Women aren’t going to be “adventuring” as much as men due to the structure of Arda, his world.
right, but it was his choice to structure Arda any way he wanted. i certainly agree that the 'for his time' point has merit, but since this is adapting his works for our time, and societal norms have changed, i'd still say it's an improvement to have wider representation as presented in this game :)
If FFG wants to make money without any backlash so be it. And if they really are in their heart of hearts wanting more representation for different people, bless them. But to blame it on Tolkien not being ‘progressive’, I don’t buy that. Who killed the witch king again?
Arghhhh read the books not just the films there 50ish years between and it states quite clearly that bilbo was friends with the elves and dwarves Gimli is the son of Gloin one of bilbo company. Legos is the son of Thandruil king of the wood elves of course Bilbo knew them. The world Tolkien created goes much deeper than what peter jackson gave us and even the basic novels of the hobbit and lotr. Sorry sorry rant over.
so wait, you're saying that bilbo did go on secret assassination missions with Aragon? that really seems like something that Tolkien would have mentioned :)

There is going to be more lol
I seperate mine by expansion in ziplock bags and thrown them all in one box
Floating hands😃
Do we need the internet to use the app and play the game?
nope live internet connection isn't needed (other than to download the app to being with)
Is that Jared Harris narrating the app?

nope, you only need one instance of the app running. and yes, the bigger the screen, the better :)
10 minutes in you give the characters some cards but don’t say why or what cards. Any suggestions on what video would explain that info?

Well another year later, I'm watching this.. Those are the basic cards that everyone gets, and the character specific cards.
So does the app take you through all the set up?
pretty much yes :)
Rahdo Thanks!

Arwen is in the books.
Saving them for the expansions!

Hi, can I play this game without the App?
app is required i'm afraid
Nope!! He literally says that the App is required at the 0:18 mark! Less than 20 seconds into the video dude. 🤔

@@mpreaper9459 i'm not sure what 'blame' there is here?
@@mpreaper9459 well said! I do understand Rahdo's point too.
the very first scout and he does it wrong by equiping 2 cards at the same time to bilbo ^^
timestamp please

@@rahdo maybe not assassination missions lol, but certainly went adventuring. a lot of the poems re Aragon are written by Bilbo.
i stand corrected then :)
Tolkien wasn’t progressive?
by today's standard? nope :)
Rahdo that’s for sure.
Hey everybody....
