I had a red 1969 one. Used it til 18, bought when 10. Had a a 1/2 section of sch 40 pipe going from the steering head to the tail light because the frame broke at the seat/tank junction. The frame tube back at the rear axle also broke and the gear box was pretty messed up. I cast a upper triple clamp to hold my CZ 250 handle bars in metal shop in High School. Still riding with my ktm 300xc or my ktm 500exc. The seat base had to be strengthened also. It was toast when I gave it to a neighbors kid.
Looks like some high quality restorations! I only saw one thing that didn't look like my 70/71 Yellow K2. That was the spring clamps for the plug wrench. Maybe those were different on a 69/70? Or early '70's, like the ones you were building. Please relay to Mr. Doug that I own my Grandfather's original, unrestored K2 (early '71 oval long fender), if he would ever want any pictures for originality. Grandpa rode me on it around the yard in spring/summer of '71. He was becoming I'll of cancer then and died the following spring. After that summer it was put up on the wall in a basement, next to furnace for 30 years. It was moved back to original residence in '02 for around seventeen years. It was stored in the back of a closet there. Luckily my aunt and uncle drained gas and motored cylinder ever so often the first thirty years. It's a complete time capsule, down to the original Nitto tires and ND spark plug. Please let him know I'd be happy to photo anything he needs for restorations.

Does anyone know about 68-71 model Z50 having factory rear foot pegs as an option off the show room floor back then? There is a bolt hole in the frame but all the original photos ive seen and even the photos in the guide books do not have any rear pegs. Is this something owners added later through Honda parts?
Where can I find a good carburetor for one of these. Either rebuildable or New, or a good OE. I've went through four Chinese Replacements and all are pretty much junk. Plastic non adjustable floats and all flood over really bad when running.
Where do you get your seats, tanks and bars from? I'm restoring 2 of the 69/70 Z50 and looking for parts. Also,, did you have to update the wiring to 12v or did you stay with the original?

Mine is silver top Marron bottom on tank and its original paint and the paint between silver and Marron is different lines than yours is your line is different threw side emblem mine 1 inch into emblem on the side

Honda needs to make the 69 round medallion Z50 again.
