I have Galaxy S10+ .
I might wait one more year before upgrading.
I'm upgrading from the S22 Ultra to the S23 Ultra for the following.
The upgraded camera with astrophotography.
Better sounding speakers which have been confirmed.
The Purple Color.
I really hope Samsung won't go up on the S23 Ultra this years. They should be dropping the price like Apple did. I really want to get the 512 version.
Hell yeah . A thousand dollars for better sounding tweeters on your phone!! 💩
@@life5161 The S22 Ultra has terrible speakers and you didn't fully read my post. Better speakers isn't the only reason I'm upgrading to the S23 Ultra. Read the whole thing. The problem with the S22 Ultra speakers is they're not loud enough and they muffle. Why wouldn't I want to upgrade for better sound?
I listen to a a lot of music and watch a lot of movies on my phone and the sound is very important to me. The Note 20 Ultra Speakers were much better and louder then the S22 Ultra Speakers and they didn't have any muffle in them. A lot of people have complained about the S22 Ultra Speakers.
If the design works, I don’t see the reason to change it every year. Subtle classy changes are good along with different colors from a previous year. That’s how it should be.
I'm still on the N20U. I really hate the loss of the memory card slot. But I'm nearing end of the update cycle on the N20U (if I'm not mistaken) and I've noticed lately my device is lagging in some areas, primarily app switching and camera functionality switching. I'm in the fence between the S23U and maybe the Z Fold 5. What are your thoughts on that scenario?
If "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", was a phone.
Apple been keeping the same phone for years.
That's why I don't update for years phones don't change much to upgrade for me anyway
You are right, this is why I am still rocking a Samsung s8
You don't upgrade because you don't have money.
@@ferasharbi7216 no that's not why honestly it not worth it I could afford to buy my phone works good why spend the money
@@ferasharbi7216 why waste money on a device that drops to 50% of it's value in 3 months. Donate to charity instead to make a difference . I still have my one plus 8t and I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon.
Small upgrades, hundreds of dollars, naw I'm good but if I were to get a galaxy it would've been the S21 ultra bcuz it should be much cheaper now
I’m returning my 14 pro and Apple Watch 8 after ordering the z flip 4 and galaxy watch 5 pro. Hopefully that will reignite my passion for tech because it’s just iterative from here on in.
The note 20 was the last impressive Samsung phone…
The upgrade for the next year is not for the people who got their phones the previous year it's for people who haven't had a new phone for a while they have to keep making new phones every year to keep making money and they have to have product for the people who may have missed out last year no need to upgrade every year unless you're getting a big trade-in value which would give you the new phone for almost free
I think people are hopping on the hype train hard, the S22 Ultra was already pretty much peak for Samsung. Why would they wanna change anything with it? Yeah it'll have the new processor and a few new camera tricks, but I'm not shocked that they have cases that effectively look the same.
Definitely not going from S22 Ultra to S23. I'll be waiting till S26. They're completely out of ideas. Going forward you'll upgrade phones every 4 years.
I normally hold Samsung phones for 2yrs because there isn't that much of difference for me to want to upgrade every year. That being said, I have a Note20 & I'm waiting to see the Unpacked event with new S23 Ultra so I can decide on that phone or the S22 Ultra. .
It's what ever u can afford man
More case options for the S22 Ultra! You can only change so much on a phone. I'm sticking with my S22 Ultra for a few more years.
It really became a great all day plus phone after the 5.0 update.
There's just no need to upgrade each year. I'm gonna see how the S23 Ultra handles Heat. 🤟
If there is an insane trade in deal, meaning I could get the new one for 200 or less that sure I will upgrade otherwise I will not be getting the 23. I enjoy my 22 but it has some chips on the edges after a couple drops
yep unless the weak speakers bothers you theres no real reason to upgrade. s22u has 4yr os update and 5yrs of security updates
@@jael4132 weak speakers? The s22u speakers are pretty good imo
@@ziich1 good for you ive seen a lot of youtube reviews that s22u speakers are weaker than note10plus and note20U. one of the reason why i didnt buy s22U
@@jael4132 I never had the n20. But I had the n10 . If there is a difference it was marginal. Granted I never played them side by side but both seemed plenty loud to me
I'm guessing that phone improvements begin and end with the appearance of it.Maybe they'll add a rear spoiler next year. Also, thank you for the video, because I was curious as to whether my existing cases would fit the 23
2-3 years with same design and upgraded internals is cool for me because you can use the same case. Most times I upgraded in the past for software, cameras, and hardware abilities.
The S23 Ultra will be the last phone I upgrade to on a yearly basis, I will be switching to every 2 to 3 years to upgrade because there won't be many changes anymore and the only reason I'm getting the S23 Ultra is for the better battery life thanks to the new chip in the phone
Great insight J as always.
its been the case for the last 8 years all phones look a like esp theres no colored forehead and chin to differentiate it. every changes are just all in camera, screen refresh, nits and chipset
I got an s22 ultra 512gb in October for $600 from google fi and I'm not even going to use it until 2024 as my note 20 ultra is still great until next year. I'm done getting new phones every year.
N20U ftw!
Bring LG back they always had something different to offer 🙏
I got the Sky Blue 512GB s22Ultra too. I wonder what are going to be the limited colors this time. I like the Purple color. What would make me. Want the s23ultra is the new processor if it has better. Battery life then it definately going to reason to upgrade. Then that 200mp camera. Bit yes your right they are really not making a reasonable reason to upgrade with only the processor and camera changing and all the rest is the same. If it had a 7000mah battery and true 4k screen size with 240hz amd higher brightness than the iPhone. Thst would be a real upgrade.
I'm looking forward to what the internal specs have to offer instead of the outside of the device which means I won't have to buy brand new cases again
What you mean no difference? Price will be different 🤣
Right LOL
Man I am always a "get the latest and greatest" with Pixels and Samsung. But this year it's gonna be a hard sale with me!!
Hey Jay. What's your primary daily driver? Fold 4 or S22 ultra?
Fold 4
@@smartphoneconversations Same here brother. I have both as well! God bless.
Which is better fold 4 or s22 ultra
@@marcusgray4773 For me, Fold 4 but id you never had a folding phone you will have to get used to it. I find it very hard to go back to a regular candy bar phone.
Samsung is not trying to get s22 Ultra owners to upgrade, they are trying to get people with older models and/or people who don't own Samsung phones at all to get the S23U. A comparison to last year's model of the same phone was not their purpose..
For us who get exynos it a worthy upgrade at the new snap
What I think happens is phone content creators need Insane upgrades to be wowed. There's the flip. The fold. The s23. So many phones. Pixels. iPhones. Technically the z fold 4 should wet the appetite for a while. That's the big change. The s23 ultra line up is like iPhones. Reached peak maturity
All they can do it's optimize the s22 more so it's not really a drastic change
At least Samsung gives us different options of phone with foldables unlike Apple
I still really enjoy my s22 ultra battery life is a lot better. Keeping my s22 ultra for another year at least.
I'm upgrading from s20 plus 5G. To S23 Ultra 5G.
I all ready reserved the 23 Ultra better battery life and camera updates
Gonna pass on the S23 series but I’m waiting on the S22 FE to see what it brings.
So is the screen flat with flat edges 🤔?😕
No
Got to say that the S23 Ultra will have to bring something special to prise the Red S22 Ultra out of my hands.
Either that or give some fantastic trade in deal.
Mine is the Exynos phone, and I know say that the Exynos is rubbish. But that's not been my experience.
The phone has been working just how I want it to.
I'm glad if Samsung keeps the same design. Just makes keeping my S22 Ultra justified
Great video by the way 😊👍
This is why everyone says apple sets the standard for the industry, good or bad; apple will keep the same design more or less for 5 years, now everyone else is doing it.
I have the S22 ultra see no reason to switch to the S23 ultra I'll wait and see what the next fold lineup we'll have great video
I'm watching on my s22 ultra
I'd disagree, The battery life on the s22 ultra is garbage. It cant be worse on the new phone.
I am keeping my graphite s22 ultra, but I am on the fence about which phone I want this year. I wouldn't mind getting a base 23, but I held my daughter's 22 plus and the size and weight felt perfect. Temper glass screen protectors are way cheaper for flat displays, and sometimes it's nice to switch to a more compact phone, so I will figure it out by February or March.
Yea that's crazy same phone
Do u think the battery will be any better then lmao.?? 😩
I am hoping that the 200mp/ low-light is a big leap or else i will just keep my s9+.
😲
My guess is this has everything to do with the snapdragon everywhere launch. Snapdragon processors are expensive even though they buy in bulk Samsung definitely swallowed a big pill with this one and because of that the consumer gets less i.e same phone as last year unfortunately!
🍎has given us the same basic design with the 12 13 and 14 lines of iphone pro models I think Samsung is just following 🍎lead...maybe Samsung want people to be able to recognize a Galaxy device in the wild like we do apple devices...with the camera arrangement and design of a iphone there is no mistaking it...a Galaxy with a case on it who knows what it is...
s23 and plus must have 512gb and 12gb ram
I don't know but I'm not a fan of Samsung or iPhone i had a few Samsungs and iphones but they cost too much and I don't like them I'm more of a fan of TCL, Motorola and HTC I don't know if HTC still making phones also LG I was a fan of them too bad they stop making phones they need to come back.
Looks the same 🙄. I still may get Ultra ill see I'm still rocking Note 10 plus. Lol
i have a s22 ultra i dont gonne bye the s 23 its the same
Same phone just like apple, smh.
If the design is identical, I don't see an issue. There's nothing wrong with the current design, and there are only so many shapes and sizes you can go through before they all start to look the same. It's a solid design. I get your point, but still. Makes it easier to move your old case to the new phone at least.
I'm rolling with my S21 ultra until it won't no more. Better design, excellent performance, paid for. Will get the fold 5 if it's improved as far as battery goes.
It is not the same device. The performance between the two will be night and day. Plenty of upgrades have been made.
No MicroSD, no money from me!
