Totally agree. He has truly influenced multiple generations. He's been making wildlife films since the 1950s, and as of now (2019) he's still doing it! Absolutely relentless individual. I can tell that he truly cares deeply about what he does, and all of his work has had a positive impact. It would be easy to ignore the fact that we are destroying the world if it wasn't for him. He has shown us how remarkable, special and worth caring about this planet and its many different inhabitants are. He really is a great man!

Greatest BBC series of all time in my opinion. Its educational value is phenomenal, the Scale of the story it set out to tell..... its much more matter of fact and isn't all about slow motion shots and epic music, its much more serious, academic and matter of fact.

I think one of the best things about Attenborough was that he never was patronising. He pointed out climate change, global warming, destroyed forests and endangered animals and although he would point out what had caused it and how it could be reduced he never preached to you. It was just to the point, and whether you wanted to do something about or not was up to you.
Yeah, most of those are political issues btw, not scientific ones. That's why Life on Earth was the last good nature doc BBC ever made. The BBC took to political lecturing after that, and there is and always has been antisocial agendas behind that from the start. Was for Life on Earth too, but more subtle. The aim was to trun that generation into animists who would kill themselves and hate other people in the name of the animals they had been taught to worship. Why? To reduce the number of people. That has been the plan of the "elite" for centuries, and it has not changed. And since I imagine you believe they are right, since that is what the propaganda is saying, they are perfectly capable of causing all of the problems you mentioned just so they can force through their preconceived "solutions" to them. Class warfare is the only problem human societies have. And being blind to that fact because you have been brainwashed into animism makes that problem worse. And BBC has to take a lot of the blame for that, because these programs were aired all over the world. To quote Voltaire: "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities". And we're there now. Generations of morons who wouldn't know how to analyze scientific data if you held a gun to their head, radicalized for agendas they don't understand.

All those years ago and this is still so good. I can remember those movies that displayed the gorilla as such a fearsome animal and then along comes Sir David and banishes that perception forever. Life on Earth was and is such a wonderful documentary series, but not nearly so wonderful as David Attenborough himself

The programme wasn't trying to prove the existence of Christ or the none existence of Christ. All he's trying to show you is the beauty of the things we do have on this planet. Of the things we should be cherishing and looking after. However in my opinion we are failing miserably. I also feel he's one of the luckiest men on this planet. Go Attenborough!!!
2:54 is such very clever music. Very interestingly, I recall there is another very beautiful piece of music that was actually heard in one of the early life on earth tv series programs - but has never ever been heard since. That piece of music ---- I remember the general tune of it ---- but there is absolutely zero trace of it on the internet. And I wonder why. Because it is a very nice piece of music. What I'm going to do is to play a bit of it on the piano. So hopefully somebody knows which episode it came from. At the moment, I have no idea which episode it came from ---- so watch this space. Gee, this David Attenborough Animal Documentary would be very interesting, if this was released on a complete DVD Set in America. There’s been nothing but a Region 2 release for the last several years. It's called 'Life on Earth Begins' and the composer is Edward Williams. The music has recently become available for the first time on Trunk records. The music is lovely but a little let down by the fact that it was taken from privately pressed vinyl making the sound mono and low fidelity.

This question baffled me for a long time, my brother tried to explain it to me once, all I got is a headache. to understand it you need to have a little more then basic understanding in chemistry, physics and biology. You probably know that every thing in the world is made out of atoms and atoms interact with one another, creating molecules. All life is made of carbon atoms, and the interaction between those atoms some how came to the creation of life. Or something likes that...
Sorry to be petty, but it really annoys me when TV productions try to force an old 4:3 ratio picture into a 16:9 screen so that it's filled. This either zooms the image to make it look grainy and cut off at the top and bottom or, like above, stretched and weird. It shouldn't be that hard to make it work with the two. I say this because I love this sort of TV but I find it unwatchable when it's like that.
