A lot of people make a big deal about the extra weight on the 4 strokes - I don't think its enough to care about. Unless of course your are riding in deep powder and need to muscle the sled a lot more. I like my 4 strokes - I have three of them now. I do think a 2 stroke feels more responsive.
I have 2 out of my 7 sleds are 4 stroke. You get off the trail and they become really tough in comparison to maneuver. Now don't get me wrong I have buddies who ride them and they put those heavy monsters tons of places.
52 yrs old spent manny a broken back the next day playing in the deep stuff with my 2 stroke ,nothing but trails and 4 strokes for me from now on ,would never go back at this point ,but I get it !,
Love my 05 yamaha 2 stoke triple and polaris 550 fan for ice fishing too but my yamaha 4 stroke 1050 is my preferred trail rider anyday out of the 3, fuel injection, great on gas, tones of low end torque with no smoke, yup I'm getting old lol
Year ago. Like 2001. A Cat Touring Triple triple Sled with Snow under the track, Gas and Oil was Close to 1000 LBS. Claimed Dry weight at the time was 580lbs. We hang Sleds in the Rafters. Nothing on the Ground. Polaris was always the lighter one by 50 lbs. But Who cares about 50lbs. Yamaha Always was the heaviest. A F8 was Heavier then a Axys 800... You want something to last and take the bangs. You need some weight in the right places. Like the handle bar stem. Ski doo and Cat have weakest Steering Stems.
I think my ‘09 Polaris Indy 750 FS Touring 137” (Weber 4 stroke) takes the cake. She’s a big girl, tipping the scales at just a whisker over 820#. Mooo. Love the comfort though. 150 mi. is a piece of cake.
My 2016 Pantera is a tank, not sure what it weighs but it's a good amount. Got it stuck on the trail a few weeks ago when it wasn't groomed and I couldn't budge it.
800lbs of fuel/remember you have injector oil and 3 gallons of coolant, chaincase fluid, all the grease pumped in everything. Etc. easily another 50 lbs
Find it interesting that the right ski was showing heavier than the left ski when it appeared as though the left ski was digging vs the right that appeared to be staying on top. I swear I’m about to go get myself tested for illegal substances!!! Somebody HAS GOT to be spiking my water!!!! SMH
Yeah... Idk how much I trust that part. I suppose the wood could slide on the scale a little to help put the sled "at rest" but I feel like with me picking it up and setting it down things might be slightly skewed compared to what it would look like if I was able to drive into scales.
I'm not sure the 3 scale technique will give you an accurate reading. Try standing on one scale, than a foot on 2 scales, and do a pushup on 3 scales . And see if you get the same totals
I've weighed myself with two before, it adds up. As long as the weight is evenly distributed on the pads underneath the scale I think it should be pretty accurate.
@SWANKY CAT Ohh gotcha. I have the Yami triple in my Pantera 7000xt limited. It runs well for a giant beast of a sled. More then enough power for friends to ride when they visit.
On my snowmobile lift I put an ~1 foot piece of 2x4 under the rear 'pucks' so there is more surface area for them to hold the rear of the sled up. I suppose a small piece of plywood would do the same. Also, did you swap the CA skis with your F1100 skis?
@@SwankyCatProductions Roger that! Can't wait to hear...as mentioned I run the 6 inch dual carbides on mine and so far they work great, better than stock.
Excellent channel! So I just ordered the Big Fin clutch for my 2012 XF 1100 turbo. Any belt issues for you since you put the big fin on your 4stroke? Thanks!
@@JPons10 I have an 1100 Turbo SnoPro and even with the big fin clutch and FrogSkinz vents I blow belts. I can get maybe 600 to 800 miles out of a belt and that is being easy on the sled because I'm always afraid of it breaking. I've had the clutches aligned and it didn't seem to help at all.
Also have a 2012 XF1100 turbo with 8200 miles and only on my 2nd Arctic Cat belt. Only changed it cause of age. Do I abuse the sled, only on lake races and some open throttle on trails. Belt break in is required.

Wow crazy
But not really surprised all sleds feel heavy compared to the old ones
Great video good stuff
Thanks
Josh
It's amazing how HUGE sleds have gotten. I rode my buddies 70 Panther a few weeks ago and man did it feel small!
Hey swanky cat I'm pretty new to the Chanel but I just wanted to say I'm loving it good job. 👍
Glad to hear that, thank you!!!

Loving the sled videos, hate to see the season come to an end,its been a short one
Glad to hear that, thank you! I'm actually pretty happy with the amount of time we got, not hard to beat the two week season last year though lol.
Don't forget dry weight doesn't include any fluids. So 10 gallons of gas (60ish pounds) + oil + coolant. It adds up pretty quick.
Mmm I did forget about the Coolant when I added the fuel and oil up, might have underestimated the stud weight too.
Skid full of snow adds up
Thanks I knew they were heavy I have the ZR8000 my Buddy has the ZR7000

Oh wow didn't realize they were that hefty! Doesn't really matter on the trails, helps them stick better!

Do your trails close soon? Or you don’t get march snow?
Nice TW200 on the side 😃
snowmobile weight specs are never close to advertised my 03 f7 is supposed to weigh 460 but dry it is closer to 500
Yeah they must estimate rather than actually weighing them.

@@SwankyCatProductions I’m done trying to figure it out. It goes down the trail. GOOD ENOUGH!! Haha
Skid has snow in it, added weight
Excellent point!
What camera set up do you have?
All my equipment is linked in the video descriptions.
So are you selling the four stroke? Do it now. Buy a Suzuki 800 15-16 this spring. Join us... Zuke800 is life....
Haha we'll see...
@@SwankyCatProductions do ittttt....
@@SwankyCatProductions dump it...selling my 17 ZR6000 😁 we still have a month of riding in UP.
4 strokes are about 40 lbs heavier give or take
You can't even let the snow melt out of the skid if you're going to do it do it right
If there's no snow in the skid it's not really a "wet" weight now, is it?

The 3 scale system works perfectly, no different than using 4 to weigh a race car
Manufacturers post dry weights..no gas..no oil..no coolant..dry..that’s why there always low numbers..
Shouldn't the weight at the skis be the same?
Not necessarily
Arctic cats are heavy!
Agree. My 2 stroke cat way heavier then my 2 stroke skidoo. Love em both though!
I didn't know that 4 stroke sled you have is a 2 cylinder?
Yep, the old Suzuki motor was an parallel twin. The Yamaha motor they use in the ZR7000s is the 3 cylinder Yamaha which makes a bit more power.
