About the Project:
Mile Bay is a series where we'll be creating a city in a realistic manner. Our city will start as a small village and as we progress through the milestones and unlock new features, the city will become... a city. This is the first time I have played with money, fires, abandonment and progressions enabled. Wish me luck.

City name suggestions please! Also sorry about the weird/loud game audio. I accidentally recited everything on the one channel.
Folkston. I feel like it fits the agriculture/town vibe. Hope you're well is Aus. From Nz!
Lumberton
Victoria would be quite a nice name for the Place. Maybe its Victoria Farms.
Durban
As mentionned in other comment there is a "New Orleans vibe" and as a french i really love frenchie name in Louisiane like "Baton rouge" "Lafayette". So today i read a short story about the first world tour for France by "Bougainville" and i'm pretty sure he found some bay like this during his trip. So i think "Bougainville" sound good for this city or a coastal district :) (sorry i'm french so my english not as good i think ^^)
This City’s budget:
Roads - $1
Hospitals - $0.64
Trees - $145,000,000
Enter: Washington State

Climate friendly you know
Location: Tasmania
someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. my citizens are dying
I love how all the cities skylines RUclipsrs watch everyone else. It's such a positive community and a break from all those super competitive RUclips communities
The C:S community is relatively small. But very wholesome
I love it to
X2 i think we have a good community, its great to always see that the biggest youtubers of cs are always helping small channels
I’m a RUclipsr that plays random games at 18 subs I’m actually planning on making a cities skylines video I just don’t know how to start
@@MartianLeo_T you have most likely made the video. But just do your videos the way you feel the most comfortable or the way you want 😀
Landscaping to hide the imperfections! I love it! Really great start! Lovely little town!
i love how all the C:S yt people watch eachother
Was I respecting the topography?
@@twodollarstwenty Absolutely!
I love the level of support within this community. It’s very reassuring 🤍
Fantastic start, looks lovely :-)
Biffa, how You find this channel i am subscribed to you

I loved how the unbuilt train tracks looked. I think that as the city changes and industry areas move, the tracks should stay and become abandoned, tracks torn up with just the roadbed left. Some parts could be turned into walking paths, roads, but still clues of what used to be there.
Saint Marie, a town known for the French expeditions into the swamps of Louisiana, it was founded by Mayor Marie Germaine, after the captain Luis died. She took it onto herself to lead the small village and grew it so when she passed away, there was a statue created in her honor. Now as an American town set in alternate Louisiana, it is part of the great Mile Bay area.
I agree with you. This city and its surroundings remind me of small towns in Louisiana.
As a Louisiana native, I'm really excited to see where this goes, especially with the big swamp nearby! I could totally see this having some cool southern vibes. As for a name of the town, maybe Florien (from fleur-de-lis, an icon of Louisiana) or maybe Taylor or Zachary (named after Zachary Taylor, a U.S. president who lived in Louisiana before his presidency)
Honestly, I think the 'the city should look complete even after the 1st episode' is something you fully achieved. Those closing cinematic shots I was thinking, wow, he built an entire city in a single episode. It looks done.
This is so exciting! :) Also, I'd personally prefer to see you use custom assets at least for services (police, fire, healthcare, etc.) and landmarks like skyscrapers, museums, ... Those buildings tend to stand out among the growables, which, unfortunately, is not a good thing when one uses vanilla buildings with vanilla textures :D
Glad you’re excited. I agree about custom assets. Let’s add some :)
@@twodollarstwenty Vanilla Roads + is a great collection of roads to add more variants to the game
@@twodollarstwenty will mixing in some vanilla styled vehicles interest you?
@@twodollarstwenty IT BEGINS!!!! Loving it so far mate, you should setup a static cinema camera to get a cool timelapse over multiple episodes! :)
I LOVE that you're doing a gameplay focused city! Hyper detail/model railroad building is great, but it's nice to see the game actually played as a game and not just a sandbox.
So glad to hear you wanted to play the game, use money, unlock milestones, etc. rather than just drawing; but then you used a map with all utilities already in place and unlocked all tiles, so that plan didn't last very long.
I had a huge amount of anxiety watching the money plummet during the timelapse. Super excited for this series!! Ive been wanting to try something similar myself and will be taking lots of inspiration from you

FINALLY. I love this. I love to see organic city growth. This is how I always build my best cities too. I like the process of building a larger city, because neighborhoods have a history throughout the game, instead of just being "plopped" down.
Like everyone else, it seems, I’m loving the concept and watching you actually play. I agree that custom assets should be included, since the vanilla game looks dated in this day and age, but it’s great so far. And the 7 that disliked should speak up as to why. I think you should use the Bald Cypress trees for the deeper portions of your swamp, as well… definitely would add some US coastal authenticity.
I love the way that swamp looks. The themes and LUT on this map are also simply amazing, I can’t wait to see where this city is headed and how you manage the budget now that you have money limitations!
I’m also more of an unlimited money type of player, so this is going to be super interesting!
I think Partonville or just Parton would be a good name, excited to see where this goes. Good luck TDT!
The funniest part is when Two Dollars finally gave up with having a tile by tile basis game and just got all of them LMAO! Keep it up
I've never been able to refuse myself the rights to the Unlock All 81 Tiles mod! lol. I think only once, when I first played, was I able to pull it off... but it didn't last that long (I think 5 tiles before I moved onto a different city lol)
I remember buying this game prerelease. I found this video series to encourage me to play it again as it's been a while. The amount of mods available for Cities Skylines now is almost overwhelming.
I'm glad you're doing it this way - I like your other series, but I prefer seeing the game progression like this rather than starting with a CBD and expanding out. I'm also keen to see how you make it look like a real city going through those progressions.
Really excited for this series!
Same kibitz
You should disable some of the utilities (like water, power, waste, ferry and stuff) until you need them, because you pay maintenance on them while they are enabled which means you are wasting money. :D
Nice! Like the sound of the progression theme, small town to big city :)
Cool! I much prefer organically growing cities. Upgrading or gentrying areas as the population grows, being heavily car dependent and over time trying to introduce effective transportation etc.
So much more exciting!👍👍
I honestly love the idea of building a city by unlocking milestones. There are gradually more and more possibilities.
So true it also forces you to add things the city needs
OOO this looks very interesting, looking forward to the series!
Congrats on becoming semi full-time bro!
Absolutely love this! When you said in previous videos that you were gonna do a ground-up type city build I got so excited. I can see how you put all of those sweet Skills of yours in a natural gameplay to where I can then tweak how I make my vanilla(ish) cities!
This vid earned my sub. You've outlined and done a great job of overcoming what i consider a problem with CS, that is developing a city organically. Most cities start small with randomly distributed pockets around a resource/economically valuable point. When you have to work in a single section and don't get railroads until later game -- doesn't make sense. So i approve of your mods and applaud your method. :)
I cannot stress enough how useful the pedestrian roads with bikes are, for this kind of playthroughs.
Love the choice to have the buildings only spawn on parallel streets with perpendicular open for thru-traffic. Very common, and very much like the Detroit grids where people seem to use the driveway-less roads for parking (and racing).
Also I grew up just out of city limits on 3 acres like your "hobby farms" and all the lots have been collected and are redeveloping into tighter neighborhoods now
You're clearly just as much of a wizard when working within the game mechanics (within reason) as when you're doing those supermodded superdetailed builds. Love seeing this side of you and looking forward to the rest of this series! :)
This was sick! What a way to flex your skills man, I start up the game and I can't make a town look like this in 10 hours, probably why I watch and don't play. Really excited about this series.
Is this idea inspired by "Clearwater County" by City Planer Plays?. I really do like that series so I am probably going to enjoy this one as well.
Sure is
I love the look of this so far, very different from your usual city skylines build. Such small town/rural vibes where it can grow more organically
That swamp / marshland is amazing! I'd love to learn how you did that all up (like in a tutorial style vid perhaps?)
Tutorial is next episode!
This is mad! I love how we finally get to watch a city grow realistically
I'm so proud of you for using the dirt roads!! :D
Im already invested in this new series! love the different approach to building a town up gradually
Name Suggestion: Aspen Heights.
Though this name probably wouldn't be for the main city, I imagine Aspen Heights would be built near the mountains. Its economy supported by people from other areas coming to hike in its pristine forests, swim in its (artificial, or natural lake depending on where 2.20 chooses) lake. Most of the population lives in cabins along the mountain side, and near the lake, with tourists generally renting out these cabins, or staying at the towns only hotel.
(For real life examples of this city. Lake Tahoe, Nevada/California. Bear Lake, Utah/Idaho. Crater Lake, Oregon)
I love the swampy area 3 minutes in
I am in awe and this makes me itch to also start a new City. This is exactly the way I'd like to do my builds and you're giving me a LOT of inspiration I just love it.
Love where this is going! Would definitely recommend leaving an area near the port or along the river for a rail yard and some sidings. Could even add like a small industry area along them to represent railroad maintenance shops and such.
Awesome! Looking forward to seeing how the city progresses :D
The rail y-intersection being raised has a basin in the middle where flooding would take place if you don't have proper drainage into the slough nearby
The attention to detail is some of the best I have seen
Just came across this on my home page. Big Bifa and CPP fan, just subbed, this is a nicely done episode! Glad to find another skyline channel, the amount of detail to the landscape is insane.
Awesome start! I think that eventually turning some of the plots into small subdivisions would be cool - it seems to be a pretty natural progression when larger lots are near the city / town center
It's somewhat refreshing to watch you doing zoning :)
The town's looking good already, and with your plan to have more pockets of town/village throughout the map this gonna be exciting...
Thanks for the entertainment!
Nice! Love the natural feeling from this.
This makes me want to start playing!
Following this for some inspiration.
Really excited for this! Having limited money and milestones on adds a degree of realism to how the city will grow and expand. Your tree placement makes SO much difference to the look and feel of the place. Looking forward to seeing more of this. In terms of a city name, owing to its proximity to the bay and the rivers, maybe Flow Point?
I haven't investigated how to use the terrain mods and tools to their best use yet, but it was nice to see how you made the map your own. It turned out really nice. Excited to see the next vids, and the rural farmland look you made around the town was also a thing I'll be looking into, kinda impossible to do with the industries dlc alone
Excellent! You are actually going to play the game! Looking forward to it.
WHOHOOO FINALLY the new series :DDDDD
One idea for a small town, there was a time period (in the US at least) where there was a lot of railroad expansion in the 1800s. The US government enticed railroad companies to build lines buy paying them in land grants adjacent to the tracks. This later lead to railroads founding many towns and selling real estate. Advertising to people that they could buy a cheap piece of property, which may be worth a lot if the town ever develops into a larger city. Of course, that only ever happened to a handful of towns and most never expanded beyond their initial planned out grid.
The railroads would just establish these towns by the dozens with simple, quick blueprints and as a result, many of these railroad towns have many of the same features. Usually, a main street that runs either parallel or perpendicular to the tracks. Where Main Street meets the tracks there would be a depot/station. This would be the center of town and would expand out from there with streets for residential.
As the years go on, railroads loose out to the automobile and the depots/stations are either bulldozed or repurposed as the trains only pass by anymore. Except for the occasional freight train to service the grain elevator. The town gets a break and starts to grow into something big enough that it gets passenger service once again and its old station now becomes a historic building. Though the story of most towns ends at the grain elevator or no rail service at all and they slowly wither away.
Super keen for this series!
Some name suggestions: La Perouse, Esperance, Huon, Faure, Peron. Something french-ish
You mentioned taking influences form New Orleans yet the map looks somewhat Australian/New Zealand like. Maybe the city is from an alternate timeline where the French settled Australia. You could use some European assets and some other vaguely new-world stuff as well.
The areas that have those big blocks of lands are nice , make them specifically develop mansions!
I think streetcar suburbs (or railroad suburbs) would be a really cool thing to have once the city grows. Also canals would fit the vibe really well.
this is such a great idea for a series! definitely a great source of inspiration for people who like to play the game with milestone and money restrictions, great to see how much can be done without too many assets and mods. cant wait to see more! :)
This is the type of series I was hoping for. Within the (mostly) vanilla restrictions of the game, could you build a realistic city? This is how I play CS
It's nice to see some managing gameplay, it's refreshing. Also cool to see your line of thought in this different situation
since you said about it being a bit like New Orleans, you should call it Saint Louise, because some southern colonial towns have Saint in the start and then Louise, being the female version of Louis and Louisiana which was named after French King Louis XIV is the state where New Orleans is. Great Video Loved It!! :)
First 'vanilla' series I watched for a while. Good start! Biggest challenge will be sticking to the limits you set yourself, even when you might get to a point where you would like to divert from those limits and you ask the viewers whether you should. Let's not get to that point 😜 Keep up the good work!
Now this is a city that I'd like to build! I think I'll jump into the game again soonnn :)
Love the gameplay combined with your city building skills. It gives me a lot of inspiration for my games.
interesting what you do. i like destroying everything on starting a map. creating my own exits and entry points to the map, whether they be road, rail or ship tc.
I'm so excited for this series :)
Really interesting to see you play the game like "intended?", it's so different to your usual style.
"keep it barebone with the mods"? :D Let's see how barebone it will be in the end xD
That swamp looked very cool!
10:00 true that! Manhattan has some nice diagonal roads to ~spice~ up the grid
LOVE this type of gameplay! At least now it looks like I could achieve such beautiful cities too :)
HELL YESS, ready for a new series two dollars twenty!
I Really loved the idea of creating a city from scratch and watching and making it grow bigger. Always loved the way how you do your series. Keep it up :)
I think this looks like a "Port St. Claire" ☺
I envy your ease of creating such a beautiful town while I struggle even with the most basic detailing in this game. 🤣
Keep it up!
I really love the island at 2:08! Honestly I feel like you could make it a nature preserve and have small coastal fishing villages back and forth from the mainland. Maybe not quite doing a bridge as this area might not have the feasibility for it, plus using a ferry just seems like a cool way to have a small area of 200-500 ppl serviced
Excited to see less modded series, will be looking forward to watch some vids on your basic mods (maybe a "How to series"), planning or optimizing cs as it becomes too laggy after installing mods and assets.
highly modded & 100% functional is not just possible, it's the best version of the game imho. i grow all my cities organically and in the end they look just as good as the best planned aesthetic by tubers that give the "procedural object" treatment to every triangle in the city. planning is fine, but the game works and looks so much better if you let the cims inform your decisions instead of forcing a build.
Excited to see where this goes. Marble Mountain got to be too much for my computer. I loved following along.
It really looks great! I love the map and trees. I truly enjoyed wayching this and relaxed at the same time. ❤️
And for the name, I would call it Treeburg.
This looks epic, good job! I love your style.
Oh wow, this could be ever better than your other projects! Love the idea of evolving town and cities, instead of trying to make up a story. This should, in theory, feel even more natural. The only thing that looks strange is the massive highways and intersections. I would just replace them with way smaller roads, and upgrade as needed.
wow new start! I'm happy to see this new episode :)
I loved marble mountain, but I think this is going to be my favorite series. It's inspiring me to start playing. I've had the game for years, but never really played it.
not bad, I am very excited to see where this goes !
Looking forward to your notifications. :) Great start~!
Was waiting for this kinda series !
Really looking forward going with this narrative!😁😁
Great choice of map for the series. Good luck!
Really exited to see how the city grows.
this is honestly one of the best c:s series ive seen so far! Love it!
Nice! It looks amazing. Ive been playing the game exactly like this and found out that zoned industry will always look ugly. So I just use plop the growables for industry, and use zoning for residential and commercial.
I really like this idea for a series. Well done.
I love this map and city, smaller than Oceania but I like it 👌
I was also using vanilla tree remover, but finding it was a ton of work going back in to add trees/bushes again. Switched to Beautiful Our Builds and just replace the vanilla trees included in the asset with ones from the workshop. Saves a lot of time.
I always wondered whether I could play the game but would have the city look realistic. Looking forward to the series.
This might be my favourite of yours so far. Loved it.
This is so great. I've always been trying to do something like this and this looks so good and is so well thought out!
I love the concept of this city, sounds awesome :)
So happy to see you playing the game 😊
Two minutes in the video and i'm hooked lol you got a new sub. I would especially love to learn to landscape the way you do it before starting a regular playthrough but on a map that fits building and growing organically around the landscape, european style. Would love a tutorial if you don't have one yet!
I'm in love with the new series already! Spectacular work!!
The map looks like it'd have been a great place for a colonial mission, so naming it after a fictional french mission (and perhaps having some nods to it on the map?) would be awesome. The French had two quite common naming conventions, port xxx and naming things after sainte marie. So perhaps this is Port Sainte-Marie? One of the first established French ports on the coast of Louisiana. The port declined with the rise of other ports along the coast, and eventually was little more than a Hamlet. However, with the population boom that happened in the late 19th century, and with the discovery of valuable natural resources in the area (perhaps oil?) the town of Port Sainte-Marie was re-established and grew into a small city on the coast of Louisiana.
