You should check out the custom maps scene! It's really simple to create and upload your own maps, and it's also simple to download and play custom maps.
HAHA, I'm on my last year of schooling, I can play this in class. I don't remember much of the WaW maps since I was very young when I played it, but it's fun nontheless.

Doubt it since it’s been around for years and doesnt use any call of duty code at all. Plus they aren’t selling anything. But who knows with Activision.
I do have the slightest bit more sympathy for the overly litigious corporations because apparently they have to keep up on lawsuits or else just letting it slide can cause them to lose the metaphorical ownership and ability to enforce it in the future
