It took a lil' bit and some discussion with the wife, but once I understood the thrust of this sermon, I really appreciated it. It's a good heart-check.

Another very convicting sermon. Keep hammering it, Reverend. Rogue One is now the best Star Wars movie, by the way. The faith they showed that their self-sacrifice would be worth it is inspiring.

You are losing me, Matt... for the first time... and I have been learning well from you for 13 years... so this is sad... I am sad.... not angry. I have never loved your unnecessary snark, but something's changed, and my tension is no longer just your snark (God has given you a talent for humor, but I fail to see how snarky humor brings honor to God... instead of self). If empire worships self, money, and violence... who does that reflect? Mostly Trump and his political party, which in the world's eyes is powered by evangelical Christians. Please help me understand how THAT is not seriously demonic. How is it that you call the Democrats, a party that does not largely claim Christ, "demonic" for their rebellion against God and not call Republicans demonic when they are extremely interested in their wealth and comfort and will yoke the Name of Christ to a violent man who is in love with money, violence, and self? I hear what you are saying, calling out Christians for their love of empire, but in your first sermon in this series you still elevate the Republicans party by calling the Democrat party demonic. Are you blind in this area? I'm trying to understand.

He's human...not perfect... your focused on his mistakes not what God's speaking through him, unrealistic expectations brother. Focus on God not Matt I hope this helps if you feel your no longer being fed by him please seek the Lord's word for yourself. Sometimes I find God is calling me to himself and his word by having me develope an uncomfortable block towards those I turn to for sermons and Christian motivational spealers

How about before you PREACH AND YELL about how a few people on republican side devote them selves tp TRUMP how about you actaully show people what was said in those text you had with that church member...I guess only trump and mark dricoll should step down huh ... but you your are the only one worthy to come back and lead huh.... you are 1000 % a woke LIBERAL CRT PASTOR, just like your boy DAVID PLATT , your churches love to teach CRT and go easy on pedophiles... stay out of political stuff we know who you are voting for

Great sermon! However, as a highly developed democratic nation with a strong rule of law, the United States and the ancient civilization of Babylon have fundamentally different political, social, and economic systems. Any comparison between the two is therefore more subjective in nature, so equating them in that sense doesn't really work. Rome would be closer to the mark, but even then modern historians (like Montefiore, Holland etc.) wouldn't equate the two in that way due to the vast differences.

I didn’t receive the OT quote as meant to be a historical parallel between political structures but as a workable framework to show the perils of human pride and how our pride is at loggerheads, both yesterday and today, with God’s will for mankind. Besides, we know nothing about Babel and its power or political regime outside of this story.

God can forgive any sin, and restore any man . But there are qualifications for Pastors . Matt Chandler disqualified himself with his inappropriate relationship . We can't sugar coat sin!

It’s difficult that Chandler only spent four months away from the pulpit when he was emotionally connected to other women through Instagram. I’m sorry but you needed to be sat down for much longer to search your soul because four months do not change habits. It takes years. Do the right thing and guard your church and yourself. You need alot more time to work on your self.

@@glorywolf812 Bro, I'm no Chandler apologist, but you're waaaay off here. In fact, many would argue that Matt and The Village went too far in his "discipline." Some rando lady, completely outside of his situation, which was asexual, known and condoned by the spouses of both parties, charged Matt up for what amounted to some kind of crude humor via text/chat. Matt probably got spooked since he's got celebrity status and took some time off. That's it. Stop throwing stones.

Glory Wolf, is fairly fitting for your comment. God bless you brother. 🙏🏼

    • @projectantonio6194

How could you possibly know how long it should take Matt Chandler to search his soul? 2 Samuel 12-when the prophet Nathan confronted King David about his sin with Bathsheba, David didn’t need months or years of soul searching. He immediately acknowledged his sin, saying, ‘I have sinned against the Lord’ (2 Samuel 12:13).
That’s exactly what Matt Chandler did-he didn’t lean on his own understanding but immediately brought the matter to the elders and people of the Village church and most importantly-he brought it to the Lord.
Who are we to place timelines on someone else’s repentance process?! True repentance is about the heart’s posture before God, not the length of time it takes.
