great honest review. i ordered same saw but it got lost in the mail so i got a husky 572..great saw and the auto tune is great...glad to find your channel down here in NS...subscribed !!...thumbs up
I'm from nova scotia, I got the same one off Amazon, I had an oem carb kicking around so I put that on and then I split the cases and put some skf bearings in it its what husky uses from the factory, and then I boight a hyway pop up piston and cylinder kit, then I bought a couple rubber peices and plastic peices like the intake boot and choke lever stuff to make it more reliable so far im around 650 700 bucks into it and its an awesome reliable saw, new oem saw for me after tax is 1600 bucks so to me its worth taking 2 or 3 hundred bucks and upgrading some oem parts on it
I got mine from Amazon as well, was 350 ish and then I bought a 28inch holzfforma bar and chain on Amazon at the same time for 100 even. No duties when it comes from Amazon but if you get something off ebay or somewheres else you will get duties and the bigger the package the bigger the duty fee it seems. Update on my saw, I split it back down and put a used oem crank in it so now basically the only Chinese parts my holzfforma has is the cases and plastics etc. Everything else is oem and its just like an oem saw very happy with it
Thanks, refreshing to listen to a honest gentleman, I have the G372Pro ,I like tinkering with these things-many similar problems, thinking l will have a saw one day, just mounted a 32” stihl light bar on it.
Excellent review! I ordered one from China during the last sale. It's been on my wish list for a while but when I saw the sale price I couldn't resist. I used to have a Husky 395 and it was a beast, both in power and weight. I wanted something to try a little bit of chainsaw milling and my other saws are just too small. I think my expectations are reasonable. I'm looking for recommendations for common upgrades to improve reliability first and performance second. I'd heard about the carburetor issues and a couple of others. Thanks for the video !
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the kind words and support. I wouldn’t pass up a deal on one of these! The problems you are hearing about are all common and fixable. Have fun with it! ✌️
thats why guys replace with oem parts.i had a 371xp with a broken case on left side and a 365xp case broke on the right .i bought an aftermarket case.and built a 372 xp out of the3 saws
I just recently bought the Neotec version of this saw. The "torch" spark plug lasted less than an hour....LOL. I thought it might be a coil problem...checked the spark plug and it had zero continuity. I too was having problems tuning it and it turned out that the decomp valve was bad and leaking pretty severely also. I'm still in the process of breaking it in and tuning it. I've only used for about an hour or 2, so I'm still tinkering around with it. I'm gonna check it for air leaks with the spray. Mines still tuned a little rich running which is what I want for break-in. Your saw seems to be running like an animal with that pipe on it. I didn't think I'd want or need a pipe since the stock muffler comes with no baffles in it, but I'm first gonna try opening up the muffler I got, and if that's less than satisfactory, I'll probably weld up one of those ironhorse pipes. The little problems with these saws can be a challenge at first, when you're expecting the thing to run well out of the box. But, I bought it to tinker with and I'm getting exactly what I wanted.
Hello Marcel. It sounds like you are having a similar experience so far. It took me some time to get this saw dialled in but once I fixed up a few minor things, it runs really well. You will see a lot of “pipe haters” on the internet saying they don’t do anything but make noise. This may be true if the pipe isn’t build well but in my experience these pipes definitely create a sustainable power band and snappy throttle response. I have pipes on a few others saws on the channel. Check those vids out. All the Ironhorse design. If you are able, i definitely suggest at least trying one. You decide if you like it. Thanks for sharing your information and watching the vid. Stay Well ✌️
Love the comparison of a 1200$ saw and a 279$ like there equal cause of the cc’s , imo if there comparable then they must be doing something rite 🤷🏼♂️ n for a third of the price…. Any saw you buy will have a problem or need a repair sooner or later
Yes saws always will need wrenches turned in them. I like this saw and have had to do some work to it and I’m ok with that. I expected too. Thanks for watching ✌️🇨🇦
Hey Digs. That’s awesome! Glad you are having a good run with yours. Some folks have more issues than others I guess 🤷♂️. Regardless, they are easy and cheap to work on. Take care brother 👊 ✌️
I just ordered one. knowing well in advance ill have to tinker with it somewhat. Saved some links for a Walbro carb, Meteor piston and cylinder and some other OEM stuff. I have my trusty Yugoslavian made 266 and 770 i inherited from my late father, and ill keep those ones as a backup and a keepsake since they are in mint condition, and i'd rather be busting up a $300 clone than learn to fell and cut firewood with a $1200 saw.
Damn, if you’re gonna buy a piston, carb, head and parts, you may as well just buy a 372xp for $1000 and have a much better saw that’ll last you probably a lifetime.
@@jamesdalme8246 I have bought a new 70cc saw, a proper helmet, a proper pair of shainsaw pants and im still 700€ below the 372xp price. If i buy all those parts i still wont break even with the price of a new husky Edit: also i don't need a Husqvarna. I'm not making a living of firewood and logging. Holtzforma is probably enough for 20 cubic meters of firewood i need a year.
I got lucy mine came out the box fired up on the 3rd pull and tuned up without an issue. I think they test run them at the factory mine came straight from China and also could tell it had fuel in it at some point. Paid $235 with free shipping so for that you won't hear me complaining. Does it have the quality of my Husqvarna 272xp, no, but it's 1/4 of the price and I like to tinker. Actually, I end up working on my STIHL 026 more than my Holzfforma. They continue to keep improving on their quality so the later you buy one the better saw you get.
Great review. I’ve only just bought one tonight, so it should arrive in a week or two, hopefully. Mine is from a different company and it’s called Perla Barb (372 XP) the company that supplies these usually puts a better bar and chain etc on the ones they sell. I actually bought a 62cc from them before and it’s my go to saw, rather than my Sthil saws. It’s a great chainsaw. Hopefully mine will be ok?. Great review, my friend.
Hey Wayne. Just up having a coffee and read your comment. Thank you for the positive feedback ✌️. Since the review I have had no further issues with my 372xp. It’s been running great. I had a few bugs to work out at the start with it but nothing major. I have not heard of Perla Barb yet. Hopefully your new saw runs great. It’s all about keeping your expectations real. If you have issues with these they are usually not huge and totally fixable. You can’t beat the price that’s for sure. Come back to the channel and let us know how the Perla Barb holds up. Take care and thanks again 👍
This is a great video can hear it takes revs better with the muffler u made. I bought a bernard 372xp it runs great but the oil cab is stupid to put on and the chain is stretching a lot but runs great.
The pipe helps a lot with sustaining power in your cut. New chain will stretch a bit your first few outings. Eventually it will have less stretch. Farmertec gets a bad wrap for the stretch on their chains but I’m not finding they are any different that the big players chains. 🤷♂️ . Take care ✌️
I think where OEM parts are a good idea is when the Stihl or Husky that you really want aren't made anymore and are either super hard to find or too expensive. The you can buy a clone saw of that Stihl or Husky you really wanted and put OEM parts in it as needed to make it dependable and run better. For me I just bought a clone of the Stihl 200t, because I used to have that Stihl saw and loved it when I had it. Now they are too expensive, so I bought the G111 a clone of that saw and I only intend on buying OEM parts for it if that seems like the only way to really fix an issue with it. But I'm buying it because I want one, not because I have a serious need for a top handle saw. But I plan on keeping it for along time unless somehow a miracle happens and someone gives me a Stihl ms200T as a gift. Because that's the only way I'll ever be able have a Stihl ms200T again. Lol My advice for those that have a serious need for a saw, is to buy a Stihl pro saw or the Husky equivalent so you are getting a serious saw that you can depend on. Also I suggest doing your research on the saws before going to buy one and I suggest you go through a dealer and not a box store. At least that's what I did when I bought my Stihl saws years ago. Great video. I appreciate your honest opinion on the saw and why you chose it. I'm glad it helped you decide that you really like it and that size would be useful enough to be worth saving up to buy a Husky version for dependability. 😎👍
those clones are hot and cold, you read a lot of good comments on the many channels that review these saws...then there are also the ones that have trouble. It is a saw for a guy able to work on it for sure. Quality control in the Chinese stuff is awful, just awful. I have heard there are many manufacturers of parts and the spec tolerances one maker to the other varies. The sellers of the complete saws source from all these different manufactures and assemble saws with parts that have wide ranging manufacturing specs. Knowing the tendency for Chinese goods to be a crap shoot put me off for a long while, but over the years they kept making improvements up to the point about a year or two ago some well respected names in the power saw world admitted these saws are the real thing now. I decided to buy one, just for fun and my tactic was to just replace the most often mentioned weak points with upgrade parts, stuff made outside China, but not necessarily genuine OEM Husky parts. I ended up with a big bore Hiway cylinder and piston, a new chain tensioner, new oil pump and a OEM carburetor for the carb manufacturer....can't remember if it was Tillotson or Walbro but the real Mc coy is on it right now. Never even started the delivered saw, went right to full tear down, inspection of everything and reassembled with the upgrades. Extra money into it yes, but I am still well under half the cost of OEM Husky. I see no reason the saw would be a liability now, except that the claim is made that the crankshafts and rod are soft, I have an aftermarket upgrade for that too but not yet installed.
Hey Gary, I think you are bang on with that comment. After I changed a few parts out on mine and got it dialled in, the saw has been performing decent for what I use it for. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. ✌️
just offering you a tip, I went on the Holzforma web site, ordered a ton of backup parts, plastic parts, springs, engine, everything that could be an issue at some point, super cheap, a $100 order will give you a huge depth of replacement parts for engine and chassis. I did this back in February 2023, there were a lot of the parts out of stock at that time so have no clue how availability would be now?@@Northofsomething82
I own a real deal 395xp that I paid $1700 out the door with a big bar was over 36 inch I forget… I absolutely fell in love with it… I did notice that it is made in Brazil… I was disappointed to see new husqys are coming out of Brazil so I said to myself screw it I love the saw soo much I should consider a 372xp…. So out on a venture to find a brand new 372xp I surfed the web and everywhere I looked the price of a 372xp was just a few hundred bucks cheaper than my 395… so I said to hell with spending another $1500 on a saw… then one day on eBay I saw a clone from China of a 372xp for $220 brand new with no bar.. I said shit for $220 I’ll take the gamble and get to review it myself and use it for science reasons if it works it works.. so I got the saw took the base gasket off didn’t break it in at all and put it straight to work… all I have to say is wow. For what I paid I couldn’t complain. I told myself if the top end blows so what?? I can buy a genuine husqy cylinder and then see what breaks next… would I rely on this for a living? Hell no. Would I buy this for the mere enjoyment to custom build/hot rod absolutely and I think anyone who’s into the hobby of chainsaws should… people seem to forget China has been producing parts for a lot of these big manufacturers.. the Chinese graduate for engineers annually than America.. they are catching up and quick I do hate the idea of supporting communism but then again even when you buy a real deal stihl or husqy I can assure there’s some parts from China.
@2strokemigz I think you nailed it. For a hobby saw why not ah? I use mine in the firewood patch all the time now that I have it dialled in. You can get these saws to perform, some need a little tinkering and some don’t. Take care brother, thanks for tuning in ✌️
@@Northofsomething82 I don’t do this professionally but I do get a lot of little side gigs. And sometimes it just hurts my soul knowing I’m cutting with a $1700 after tax saw.. where as the clone I could care less if when I drop it or if it were to get stolen etc whatever breaks I plan on replacing with OE parts
Hey James. The 372 pro’s have the Walbro carbs. The saw I have is not the pro version. In saying that, some speculate that the pro carb is not actually a walbro but a knock off. I have no experience with one just it comes up in some chats on the internet. I bought another Chinese carb and it worked great. The carb that came with it must have been defective. ✌️
@Northofsomething82 thanks was thinking about getting one of them I've been watching a lot of videos on them for the price they look ok I'm only going to be using it for some jobs dont get to many big trees it's only going to be a back up saw 👍
Based of my experience, if you are using it for that purpose, you should go for it. The clones are starting to come along way from the earlier days. I’m not regretting buying mine. I have it dialed in now and it hasn’t given me any further problems. ✌️

Why did you post your video in reverse? Still a good job, thanks.
Thanks for the compliment 🙏. I filmed most of the video off my iPhone in selfie mode so it came out reversed. I didn’t even realize it at the time however many people are picking up on that. Take care ✌️

Hello Richard. I used Ironhorse’s design. He has a video on his RUclips channel. Check out “ The Ironhorse” channel. He gives a detailed video on how to make it. ✌️
@thomasmarshall819 it was shipped through Canada post. I do remember that. The supplier was an outfit out of Ontario, I can’t remember those details. I purchased 3 years ago, didn’t keep the info. Sorry pal. I was fully expecting the saw to come from china and to pay duty but was surprised that Canada had a dealer. Amazon made that connection.
Great review - appreciate the honesty. Just bought one, should be here in a couple days - but now know some things to watch for. Personal use for this kid - building a log cabin and needed something with a longer bar than my 18" for the bigger stuff, so this was the choice I went with. Don't mind minor repairs so long as they're not catastrophic, lol - thanks!
Big thing is to check for an airleak first thing and fix that but these saws are super easy to work on. Aftermarket parts are cheap too. I hope you have a great experience. ✌️🇨🇦
I can see guys using these for a fun hobby. They are cool for that. Me though, I’d rather buy the real thing and not worry about any of the things you mentioned. God speed. Stay warm and have a great winter. Happy firewood’n!
I agree with you 100%. It’s a fun hobby saw. It’s been on the workbench a few times and I’m starting to get it dialled in! I’m not quite ready to depend on this thing yet. In saying that, I’m having fun firewooding with it. Thanks for the kind words ✌️🇨🇦. Take care.
Its not a clone. Holtzfforma own the rights to munufacture the saw as they purxhased those rights when husky discontinued the 372 xp. Fir a better version get the 372xp pro which is mainly italian parts of the best quality. I also have had a better experience with husky than stihl which are fragile and have worse carb. The issues you raise with the cap and pull cord are the same ones i have had with my genuine husqvarna
You are correct, holtzfforma did buy the patent of the Husqvarna 372xp and are producing clone saws of the Husqvarna version. The definition of “clone” is “to make an exact copy or replica of something”. Indeed they did and this is why Husqvarna OEM parts are interchangeable. Husqvarna was the origin of the patent and Holzfforma cloned it with the purchase and manufacturing of the patent. As for the issues with the saw, I’m not saying it’s a bad saw only sharing my experience that I have had with the saw. Most of the review is positive. Thank you for sharing your experience with your Stihls and Husky’s. I’ll keep an eye out for those issues on mine. ✌️
An ms261 is not a good representation of a good Stihl. I have a MS460 with so many hardwood cord under its belt you would not even believe me if I said it.
Kupiłem kiedyś nową Husqvarna 560XP i padł mi wał. Więc płacz nad drobnostkami to przesada! Chińczycy dopiero się uczą jakości, podobnie jak kidyś robili to Japończycy. Robią postępy i produkują coraz lepsze elementy, np. gaźniki HLHilc.

Put a big bore kit on it. I think that would make it a 52mm jug n piston? goin to do it to mine real soon
The g660 and g372pro as got wallbro carbs
They have a wallbro carb on them it says in description on ebay?
Thanks for a very informative and well presented video.
You are welcome HaleBopp. Take care brother ✌️
Do you have a link to the carburetor you changed to?
Thanks for the review!
Not sure this will work, let me know….. this is the carb I used to replace the original

@@Northofsomething82 No, the link does not work.
@@GustavRacingok. I bought the carb on Amazon. Type in this

hello your pipe exaust it is just 2 pipe sold do you have a plan model
Hello Richard. I used Ironhorse’s design. He has a video on his RUclips channel. Check out “ The Ironhorse” channel. He gives a detailed video on how to make it. ✌️
super confused....... why does the saw seem backwards.
It has a full wrap handle bar on it. Maybe that’s throwing you off? 🤷♂️. ✌️
Video is flipped. You can see the text on his sweatshirt is flipped also.
i thought it was a left handed saw or something
What site did u order from ?
I ordered this one from Amazon. They shipped it from Ontario not china
@@Northofsomething82 u know what the shipper was or supplier?
I've just bought one tonight on eBay 😅
Right on brother!
That sounds like more than equal to a stock 572.
Just buy the 572 and get it ported
Done
Maine got huge trees
In the vid ur bar is on left side😅
The camera mode is flipped apparently 😆.
Took me a second to realize your video was reversed.
... A left handed saw. 🤣
😂. I filler that with my cellphone in the selfie mode so it made the image backwards. Lots of comments on it. ✌️
If you modified it , you really cant tallk about the saw
Ok I’ll stop talking about it then 😆. ✌️
Left handed saw? Lol
Camera was in selfie mode. ✌️
g272 is their only good saw
Why? I’m still deciding whether to get G288, G372 or that.
I like the 372. Classic design. The husky 372 is probably one of the best chainsaws of all time. In my opinion of course.
An ms261 is not a good representation of a good Stihl. I have a MS460 with so many hardwood cord under its belt you would not even believe me if I said it.
😂. This is a funny comment. Have a good one ✌️
Kupiłem kiedyś nową Husqvarna 560XP i padł mi wał. Więc płacz nad drobnostkami to przesada! Chińczycy dopiero się uczą jakości, podobnie jak kidyś robili to Japończycy. Robią postępy i produkują coraz lepsze elementy, np. gaźniki HLHilc.
