Swedish Death Cleaning!!😁🙏💜 Look at you!!! Living in the basement now when you used to be terrified of it! Bravo!!!😂
so different without shag carpeting, 70’s paneling and with fresh paint @md new floors! It is quite comfortable.
Customer service has certainly declined. the basement room looks really nice!
My husband agrees with you. We’ve even had family say they’re coming to do something for us that we’re paying them cash and they don’t call or show up. Now we don’t pay for any work done until they’re finished. If they need materials, my husband goes with them and pays for it and takes it to our house. Times have really changed since we first got married almost 55 years ago.
Amazing isn’t it!😢
I did the same. I paid for materials to be delivered to my house. You cannot be afraid to speak up. I don't like family to help me. They don't show up like you said and then you have to hear about it. They want to help but are busy with their own family. I get it and I understand! I like my independence. Times have changed so much.
the incompetency of so many people nowadays is mind boggling. True story. My husband went to a doctor and the gal at the front desk did not know what an apostrophe was or where on a keyboard to find it! Seriously ?!?!?! I've come to realize what older people are always grumpy. Because we're always angry and frustrated! Oy vay!
Lol
I like your little nest in the basement. Being by myself many years my grands are adults and I find I don’t need a big house. My family is all gone so I sold out and left sc for Arizona and now I live in a casita in my daughter’s yard. I’ve been here 6 years and still adjusting to such a life change. I’m 77 now and still independent but they are here if I need them.
Sounds wonderful!
Maybe you can add 5 gallon water dispenser in the basement
When everything is done Margaret ,you won’t know what to do with yourself 😂😂😂you are doing great..I am from the uk xx
Boy, I hope you are right! Thanks for posting!
Good morning Margaret! You did a great job on getting things put away! Looks great to me! Okay…. My son and family moved in with me for 4 months. What I did was I made room in the kitchen for some of their things. My DIL and I took turns cooking dinner for us all. All the other meals we did for ourselves. It all worked out. I got to spend more time with my little one while they were here. She is 19 months old now. It was a joy having them here and the time went by fast. At night I would head up to my bedroom and they had the house to themselves. It did take-a few days of adjustment but it worked out. They now are in their own place 3 miles away. Squish will want you around so be there! Now that pink top that you said was to big for you could be worn as a jacket over a t-shirt. It will be cute with a white tank top underneath. I keep a similar shirt in my car to put on when I go in the grocery store cause it’s usually so cold in there. Love watching you and your stories!! ❤
What a great read! Thanks for posting!
@@MargaretbeingMargaretDeborah, you said the same exact thing I was thinking about the gorgeous pink and white seersucker shirt. As an over shirt/jacket, it can take you right up to fall-it's so beautiful.
My house is a converted two car garage. I barely have any cabinets. I was in awe of all of yours. It is so cramped in here, I wish I could purge like you have been doing. Some kind of a guilt issue won't let me.
@suesmith4325, If you start though you’ll find yourself much more pleased with your tiny home. 🤗 Watch some videos about living very small and see what people have done to improve the functionality of their spaces. Apartment Therapy is a good channel to watch because many folks live in tighter quarters nowadays and have honed their utilization skills. Good luck!
I feel for you Margaret. I am still decluttering from a move 2 years ago. Widowed, and cute little puppy who likes to sleep on my bed (sometimes), but like me she enjoys her privacy. Been following you for about a year. Thanks for your courage, elasticity, and honesty. Hold your fragility as carefully as you can.
Nice post. Thanks!
@@MargaretbeingMargaretjust checking in with you! Life moves so fast. Today is 100th Family Reunion, can you imagine? Consecutive reunions for 100 years. I am cooking! Dressing! Rushing! I know you are very busy, but do just bump in for a couple minutes and let us know you are ok, or not ok! No judgement! I have moved so many times including across the Pacific Ocean and back.
Wow!
The basement can be cute and cozy. Pretty green tshirt and cute skort. Ya the straight cut is slimming. Cool and comfy. Wear the pink blouse as a jacket. Enjoy!
Your studio apartment looks like a great set up well except the bathroom thing but I know you’ll make it work. We a currently accumulating lots of stuff as Sam moves to college in a month. Hope her room looks as good as yours when we are done .
Too bad the college boys were so expensive they might have been a good idea to help unload the U-Haul .
Hope all goes well with the architect tomorrow!
Glad to hear Bri is doing well and that you are still in touch with her and Chelsea.
How the heck is Sam going to college? Really? Where is she heading?
It’s nice and cozy down there and your near your little squish! No early morning travels for you every day now! So much better for everyone! 👍🏻👍🏻🥰
It really is!
I think you can decorate downstairs to look good. Keep all your colors light, it looks ñice and roomy.
I really like your lower level apartment! It looks cozy. It should be cooler down there too, right? Margaret, I have decluttered so many times since I moved out of my house and into my apartment. I have been talking of my inner peace on MBM and I actually think that getting rid of stuff I don’t need has helped me attain that peace. As we age, we live differently. The gravy boat resonated with me so much. My only advice…you don’t need to do it all at break neck speed. Take time to enjoy life. Sending hugs 💕
Great advice!
❤❤ skorts the best! Sending good vibes for the move & new direction.
Cat allergies don’t avoid the bedrooms. If they are there then any cat around indoors is a problem for allergic people. I know how much you love them but health comes first.
Glad that you had a great visit with Bri and Chelsea 👍💕
The best!
My husband was a contractor. If either of these places have a contractors license tell them you will make a complaint to the contractors board. Even since you canceled with the housing you still need to register a complaint. If they get enough complaints against them it can mean their license. This sounds mean but those kind of contractors give all contractors a bad name. No call on Tuesday find his license and complain. Or at least threaten. It should light a fire under his you know what! Best to you!
Absolutely! Thanks!
Margaret, I really enjoy it when I see a new video from you.The skort looks comfortable,Just like the lounge wear leggings I wear everyday. I love the color green on you. That's one of my favorite colors. It's all about comfort.
Yes, thank you
Some days I just hate people, too. 🤦♀️
Finding and hiring reliable “help” for almost anything is so hard these days. I think it is very fatiguing too. It wears me out and I’m not moving at current time.
It is so frustrating.
Your little basement area is really nice. I know there is no ceiling but I could live with that temporarily. Hang in there, it's all going to work out.
This space is turning out really cute, fresh, and cozy! I think the refrigerator is perfect. Love the lamps, too! I completely understand your week!! - Belinda
Thanks so much! 😊
How about buying half gallons of spring water (or smaller bottles) to use for your tea instead of running upstairs to get water
I might have to resort to that.
It's looking really nice and cosy downstairs now! We've had no summer here at all yet...one or two days of 20 (68 ish) and that's it. I would complain but then I see the fires, heatwaves etc over there and shut up. But it's so grey it'd do your head in! Customer service seems to be a thing of the past (mostly) which is a pity. Have a great week 🙂
Nice to hear from you! Hope you get some better weather!
@@MargaretbeingMargaret Thanks, I hope so too!
We have the same problem here with people not showing up. I'm so glad you got a visit with Bre and Chelsea!
I get it. Don't sweat it. It seems, oddly, as we get older, we need less. Why is that?
It looks very comfy and liveable and once you get it like you like it, it's going to be great. I can hear cats purring already!
Don't worry. It's going to be perfect once you let Margaret take control.
Put a small plant in your gravy boat!
Pretty clothes! Be comfy. Be happy. Lol, enjoy life. Stop stressing. Breathe! Where's Margaret?
Peace and happiness! 💕💕💕
Am I disappearing? lol. I’ll send you the gray bowl and you can make a planter out of it!
@@MargaretbeingMargaret Lol. I AM death to plants! My mom used to cut the end of a sweet potato and stick 4 toothpicks into the sides of it to hold it out of the water and grew beautiful vines, if you can understand my vague instructions. Of course they didn't live for years, but pretty while they last. I was never so great at it, but breathless with anticipation at the first sign of anything growing.💕💕💕 P. S. Forgot my point! She had a small cream pitcher of carnival glass she grew those in. Very pretty. Okay. Mind is now empty. Good night!
You can't live off microwave food in the basement for a year. You are family and I know they want you to utilize the kitchen for your favorite meals too and join them as often as you want to share meals with them. I understand your feelings about giving everyone space and privacy but Nana cooking for herself in the family kitchen or sharing a meal with them is a good thing. Plus you are wonderful at cleaning up after yourself!
lol. We’ll see.
You look so cute!! Love the skirts! Definitely I like the new ones!
Looks clean and cheerful and very livable. It's weird that our weather seems the same on opposite sides of the country. It's in the 90's here in SoCal, which is crazy for 6300 ft above sea level.. But at the base of our mountain is Palm Springs and there it's been as high as 121 degrees!
wow!
I need less too, and it’s a relief- my mom has SO much stuff and my brother has hoarding tendencies. I’m in the basement too temporarily and it’s not as cozy as yours. Still, I’m grateful. My mom is having real memory issues, so I left my home ( I’m a widow now) to help out. I find less is more. I let my gravy boats go too! Downsizing after 35 years of marriage was tough. Then I downsized again to come here. I have three great kids but none of us leave near each other.
Thanks for sharing…Take care of yourself!
It feels good to declutter. Doesn't it?
Hi MBM,
Skorts are great. Wind wont pull a Marilyn Monroe.!
So glad all is working out !
lol
@@janicecanfield9211 LOL Jan being Jan! Love you, my friend! 💕 Sharon B.
Isn’t it mind blowing that you have to make such a mess trying to tidy up. I have to do it in small lots otherwise I botch it up as I get exhausted or totally exasperated. It’s winter here and the temperature is 22 degrees Celsius, couldn’t wish for better day as it is great weather for working in the garden.
Sounds to me as though you got a ton accomplished, even if some wasn’t what you wanted. Like sticking up for yourself with both the manufactured building person (NOT calling her a lady!) and the yard guy! So much fun getting together with your two friends, I hope you’re all able to continue getting together occasionally. Take care. 👍💕😊
Thanks so much!
Downstairs is beginning to look like home
You’re doing great!!! Love you Margaret. ❤
Thank you so much!
Margaret your new area looks good. So glad you got to see your girls. This heat wave is terrible I have not even gone out for over a week.
Well you’re going to have to leave the house soon…we need to get together.
I would wear that pink top on cooler days I like bigger tops like that they are comfy just lie the bottom together 🌹
You’re doing well the basement could be made so nice a few pretty cushions etc but it looks big enough .
Enjoy your week 🙌🌹
Thanks for sharing!!
Hi Margaret, your space turn out nice and once you get organized more it going to be more cozier so just make yourself comfortable!!💕
Thanks so much 😊
I love that skort and tee! That color looks great on you. That’s a good color for me too! Thanks for sharing the links to them! I have been cleaning out stuff that I don’t wear or use! Why leave stuff for others to deal with later. Must be the age thing! Lol 🦋💕🥰🙏
I agree.
It's moving in the right direction! Yay x
It will be fine, once you get organized. Good luck with your move🤗
Yes! Thank you!
Really like the new straight skorts.
Your new space looks really cosy and livable. Maybe get a 5 gallon water container to keep downstairs? Wishing you a smooth transition with all your changes Margaret ❤ So many fires around southern British Columbia and heat hits upper 30’s low 40’s so I’m mostly hiding inside with my portable AC
Stay safe!
Buy you a case or two of bottled water for downstairs. Problem solved for tea water.
Great idea!
Your basement bedroom is so nice. I am sure you are happy down there when you want to be by yourself which we all need. Take care my Friend.
Thank you so much 😊
This looks great and I love that little fridge. Too bad you can't get a little bathroom that small and easy. 😆
lol
You had a very busy week. I was raised old school when a person gave their word mustless a job they're doing for you they kept their word. Husband has did jobs for people in the past he was always upfront if he thought it might take a longer time to get it done and he always answered phone. Same way when I was a secretary for a builder contractor business. Sad that some have lost that.
Have a great week.
Agree!
😊I love your basement apartment. It looks cozy. I love your skorts. I would like a link to the skorts.
I’m so sorry about your modular experience. Hopefully the poison ivy guy returns! Have a good one.
link is in description. Thanks!
Hi Margaret I’m from Nova Scotia Canada on the Atlantic Ocean and today our heatwave broke so hope yours does soon!
I hope so too!
Hi Margaret I just want to tell you about that open vent hose over by your ladder. I know you have some breathing episodes, so I just wanted to let you know. I love watching and following you I think your precious. Have Michael check it out see if it’s hooked up to something.
Hugs. Kathy.
Thanks for the tip!
Almost 10K. :)
up and down…..up and down.
@@MargaretbeingMargaret :)
I once heard a rule that if you have something you haven’t used in 2 years, but can be replaced for $20 in 2 hours, you should get rid of it.
Hummm, I will have to look at that. Thanks.
Love the skort and green t- good color for you - I don’t envy you going through and deciding places for everything - 😊
I really want to throw it all out and start fresh! LOL!
I’ve had those moments myself and then said OK let’s be sensible here. Do we want to pay to replace all of this?
When you get discouraged just stop and think about how much has happened in your life since you retired!! I mean your house sold really quickly!! It seems crazy to think it's been ten months!! The best for you always!!
You are right!
I like the room you made it look cozy .
thanks
Stay safe and enjoy the adventure.
Love how honest and relatable your vids are! Keep grinding Midge!
Appreciate it!
You look very nice in your green top, nice color on you. Your temp home in the basement is coming together nicely. The mini fridge/freezer is cute.
Margaret I have noticed the same as far as work ethic. It takes less than five minutes to call and reschedule. I’m praying that on Tuesday your guy shows.
When I have a lot on my plate I don’t sleep well either. I think those subconscious worries have a way of creeping in, even when we’re tired.
Happy that you’ll have your family in soon. It will make it more enjoyable as you and squish will be under the same roof. Good luck with finding a good and dependable contractor. ❤
Great post! Thanks so much!
Your new abode looks comfy!
Just remember as with anything, you have options with the contractor/architect: good, fast, and cheap. HOWEVER, you can only have two. I believe I see which two you're going to get.
number 1 is quality. You get what you pay for.
@@MargaretbeingMargaret (Gail) Every time. If it's good and fast, it won't be cheap. If it's fast and cheap, it won't be good... etc You get the drift.
I love your skort and tshirt. I have worn skorts and I really like them. I think you look real nice in them. It’s so hot here shorts or skorts are a must.you always look so neat.
Thank you so much!
I have to admit your basement hideaway is looking awfully cozy! You will enjoy retiring to your bed after longs days. Please have someone cut the grass now. Much too hot for you. Now I am thinking you should have gotten a small apt. size full fridge. Otherwise you MUST stock your extras in the main fridge. They want you to be happy and part of the family so please do that. I hope the yard man will fulfill his promise and you get the deposit money back promptly from the modular builders. I have been there and can so relate to your frustration with this. BTW, your cool summer outfits look very nice on you. Stay cool and rest!
the frig is actually going to be okay. I’m surprised…and yay…the lawn did not get mowed.🤷♀️
Love what you done... With the place
Im sure you will be fine there
Best wishes to you
👍🌷
Yes, thank you
I love your outfit! V-necks are my favorite!
mine too!
You look very happy!!
What is wrong with people same here in uk,you take care and breath ❤
Maddening!
Hello Margaret you're doing great! Love the green on you, nice t-shirt. I like these skorts better. You're doing such a good job downstairs. You do need a large container for your water.
I'm very disappointed of the guy who took advantage or he would not have had you pay him in advance. No more of that. I'm praying this guy does what he's supposed to!
One thing I learned about poison ivy, take a knife ( needs to be washed & wear gloves you throw away). If it's growing on a tree slit or cut at the bottom of a tiny branch and it won't feed the rest up the tree & will die. It works. I can't hire anyone unfortunately. So proud of you. Sorry I mean also about how you've been speaking to & dealing with people. Go Margaret! Sounds like Squish & the kitties are learning to get along.
I'm all over the place on my comments while watching 😮.
I don't think Squish is allergic or you'd know already.
So glad you got to visit with Brie sp? & Chelsea.
A new chapter in yoir life. I know challenges come up. I currently have a huge new one but still hopeful, I believe in miracles 😊. So glad you have Karen & Shirley too. Living so far away from family as I do is hard.
I get you being you, I'm me being me also. Be good to yourself as it seems you're not taking a mini vacation as spoke of being possible awhile ago when kids planned theirs. So have peace, hoping you get some good sleep every night. Have a good week! ❤
I was waiting for your post. Great thoughts as usual. whatever is going on in your life…I hope for a satisfactory conclusion. Take care.
Looking good Margaret ....
Thank you kindly
What’s going on in this country, seems like nobody can do they’re job! Such bad news about the modular home, it’s hard to find good people and good companies, geez I hope things get better
It is disheartening!
The downstairs bedroom is great and looks nice. Did they fire the previous architect? Hope all moves forward swimmingly.
No. The plans are finally adequately done. Hopefully they are done with her. 🤞
You are so special and I love listening to you.
You are so kind.
Volume a little low 💕
Peanut butter jelly and chips lol
That would be my go to
That’s funny! I love both, but in my little world they don’t go together. Chips are however mandatory with tuna fish!
I know you’ve talked about the ceiling before but is it going to be closed in? It would be so much brighter with a closed in white ceiling 😊
Has to stay open while they are doing the plumbing and electrical work on the first floor. It will be done eventually.
💖
I like that skort..you look great.
Thank you!!
With old a good chunk of money until it’s done.
Don’t toss anything. You don’t want to be buying it again at today’s prices.
I REALLY hate “stuff” lol
Margaret, so sorry. It seems like you cannot count on anybody anymore. Excuses and pass the buck and don't bother me 'cause I don't really care. That is mostly what you get now.. Basement room looks quite comfortable now. Good luck with it all. Hang in there. Love the skort and the shirt. That nice pink shirt would really work over some navy or white sweater or tee or even a summer dress. So glad you will not have to make the long commute early in the morn and late in the day. Take care, missy.
Another week. I am hoping everything works itself out. Have a great one!
I like your skort and your pretty green top.
That person that is supposed to be doing your lawn and poison I y is committing elder abuse. That is a crime.
Let’s hope not.
Margaret why did you move ,if your new home not build ❤
I have lived alone, the last 6 yrs since losing my husband.I am now in a small one bedroom apt..Please tell me,WHAT do I do with plastic tubs, filled with hundreds of old photos, that I keep moving around with me? I only have one living brother,an estranged daughter and I lost my amazing son, suddenly, 7 yrs ago..At 75 yrs old,no one wants all these photos, Margaret, what do I do with them?? Help😮
Hi gal,
If I may...check with your local heritage center.
I volunteer at the one here and school photos, military photos. And more are REALLY appreciated.
Don't toss them out.
Hope this helps.
You need to keep them if that if what your heart wants. You can also offer them to a local historical society, but the sad reality is (in my opinion) when we are gone, they will probably be gone too. Consider a project of going thru them slowly, soaking in the memories and discarding as many as you feel comfortable letting go of. It could be a great trip down memory lane. Good luck.
This is what I embarked on earlier this year - I go through a small section of the photos and set them aside, then when family comes over, we look and laugh together. I offer them if they are interested and if not, they go in the trash. I have donated some older ones that may be interesting... I feel like it's helpful for me and my adult kids to do it in smaller batches.
Take a photo of your photos on your tablet. Then throw them away!
Love the outfit and the bra!😂
lol
You’re getting rid of so much stuff, do you really need all that shampoo?
That is shampoo for the rest of my life. I ordered it before I sold the salon. My favorite and it probably saved me 100’s
