best reviews of these scan tools I have seen yet. out of all the scan tools I have narrowed it down to XTOOL. my only question now is what are the differences between the D8W and the D9 PRO
So faster data transfer and twice the memory. and can graph 8 at once rather than only 6 at once. I seen the standard D8 as low as four hundred sixty bucks a week ago.. This thing being eight hundred is kinda crazy to me.. Well, I paid seven hundo for mine; So really what I mean is: I can't believe the regular D8 is just over four hundred.. That's a steal for sure.
Have they added the battery voltage monitor on the top right on any of your d8's? I have an older corded d8 and xtool told me its not supported. Looking to get a cordless tool. Im considering a Launch x431 pro3+
No, none of my xtool scanners have the voltage readout. The launch does and my x431 pro3 does have it. In fact I like my Pro3 Ace best out of all the scanners I have. This is the exact Pro3 that I have. amzn.to/41alnoz
My D8W that I received in August is different than yours. The cables are different and the top is different. I do not have the round hole in the top. It appears to be some kind of charging port. Mine is USB and located on the left under a small plastic cover.
I can't say I would like being bound to WiFi instead of BT, as you would need to disconnect the VCI and connect to home WiFi for Internet. It would be great to have the better hardware specs though. I haven't seen the new D8W on major sales sites yet to see what the price difference is. A long while back XTool stated they were going to move the D8 and D8BT to Android 10 in an update, but that never happened. Does the new VCI still have the flashlight? I always took the volt reading with a grain of salt because it was just the initial reading and didn't change as the battery voltage changed. Thanks for the look at new new D8W!
The VCI doesn't connect to your home WIFI it automatically connects to the scanner using its own wifi. No setup was required to connect the VCI to the scanner. In other words, even if you do not have wifi at your home the VCI connects to the scanner directly.
I think he means if you are connected to the D8W wifi adapter, if you want to check something on a different app on the internet you have to disconnect from the D8W wifi and connect to your home network. I'm also wondering what would happen for cars that require you to be connected to the cloud.
@@breezyacresfarm that is not the case either. It has a it's very own separate connection between the vci and the tablet. You can be connected to the vci and still connect to the actual wifi to use apps, or surf the web.
Great video ,but tool is good to till it stops working and warranty is two years but good luck to anyone with getting anything . My Tool D8 stop to work after few months and I reseved zero warranty , it is impossible to get fix or to claim warranty from XTool .
I need to order the D1 and compare it to the xtool. I have an Autel MS906TS and a launch x431 V+ elite and I always tend to grab my xtool but it would be nice to try the D1.
Xtool, trust me. Otofix doesn't have any graphing capabilities or topology, this does. This one is can fd and doip capable, the otofix d1 pro is not. It scans faster too and has faster data transfer. This has killer key programing capabilities as well and the otofix does not. Not to mention the otofix d1 pro is nearly twice the price as this one. Trust me when I say, go with the xtool.
The difference between the two autel and xtool is with xtool your machine will still be working. But with autel when updates run out the autel will be finished it will stop working your money will be down the Drain
Hi i am in Australia looking to do some holdens fords mitsubishi toyoyas would the australian models be covered ?? if your not sure how would i find out ??
When I look under the menu for Australia it shows OBDII, Ford (AU), and Holden. I am not sure if Mitsubishi and Toyota would be different than the American ones or not.
I will always go with BT over wired. The only thing I miss about the wired is it charges through the cord when connected to a car so it always stays charged. The BT version you have to plug it into the wall and charge it from time to time.
Instead of doing an automatic scan you hit the diagnosis button and it is there, but if you have a D8BT it won't be worth upgrading to the D8W. The features are the same the biggest difference is the VCI communicates with the scan tool using wifi instead of BT which gives you a farther range but I have never had BT not allow me to work all the way around the car without it dropping out. To me it wouldn't;t be worth the upgrade.
@@737mechanic thanks yeah I like the d8bt. Does practically 90% of what I need done but I need something that can program modules. I also need something that works with auto auth. I was under the impression this one can write new modules to the car and works with auto auth.

The major difference is the VCI which is the little dongle that plugs into the OBDII port communicate with the scanner using Wi-Fi and the BT version uses Bluetooth. Wi-Fi has a longer range so if you needed to walk in the house or another part of the shop with the scan tool you would be able to have a longer distance and still be able to communicate with the car.

It comes with 3 years free updates after that it will still work on the years of the last updates. It will scan for everything you said but I as far as bad head gaskets, other than doing a relative compression test on some fords no scanner is going to scan for bad head gaskets.
Why does it matter. lol.. It gives you the cable. I have the standard D8, which is direct wire to the car.. So it always keeps it charged as you use it. So none of this matters at all. I got a 10ft extension cord for the DLC so I can still go anywhere around the car that I want. Plus the regular D8 is under five hundred now on some of them.
