FYI, lots of issues currently with Diamond, which also owns Taste of the Wild, and produces Kirkland brand, all having issues making dogs sick starting in November 23. Be careful and pay attention to your pets (cat food involved too). If they don’t want to eat it, something’s probably wrong, don’t doctor it up.
They are not wrong, my dog has been having stomach issues now from eating Kirkland and Purina Pro canned food, don’t trust these big companies, I would probably go with the Nutri Source maybe or see what the best options are for raw food

One of the most important things is to make sure your matching your dogs food to its size!and the dogs needs..like GSD’s have hip issues so you want to make sure the calcium and phosphorus are matched to feed your dogs hips and bone growth properly..
About 15 years ago I had finally switched over to BARF as well as raw-frozen food companies (back then there were only a handful of choices), and never went back to dry kibble. But when I was, my top choices were: 1) Orijen 2) Acana and when on the cheap: 1) Taste of the Wild There were others obviously, but those 3 were my dogs staples.
4health Salmon and Potato for my boy. Its every bit as good as taste of the wild if not better without taste of the wild price tag. If I fed him any of those you just reviewed he wouldn't have any hair and would be miserable with diarrhea. Love the content. Keeping it real. 💯👍
Maybe I will have to look into that brand. Taste of the wild imo is one of the best dog kibbles there is (just basing that off the ingredients and the results ive had with it) but your saying the ingredients are similar to 4 health?? Just costs less?
@@derekhall378 Yes I used to feed the same thing in taste of wild and compared ingredients to 4health n it's basically the same thing they like it just as well n don't have issues with skin allergies n diarrhea I switched straight up without doing it gradually n they didn't skip a beat no diarrhea no hair loss

Was always told to only look at the ingredients ahead of the first fat (usually chicken fat and/or mixed tocopherols). Everything else is in such small quantities as to not matter.
I would love for your opinion. I spoke with a guy that said he was a retired animal nutritionist. He said you CAN NOT trust the "protein" on the bag with knowing what the protein was because it may not be the type of protein your dog needs. He said IAMS had the best food. That struck a cord because I was actually working for a company that made a "PROTEIN " additive for livestock feed. Honest to God all we used recalled and out of date ingredients from the grocery stores and bakeries that DOES NOT have meat in it or come in a can. I'm talking bread, donuts, muffins, pop tarts, cereal, cookies, potato chips, etc. At times, even mixed in wheat. Ground it all together and dried it and ground to a powder. That was the "protein additive" that went into the livestock feed.
Seems like good ol’ table-scraps are still the safest, cheapest, tastiest and easiest meals for our four-legged family members. Definitely, makes them the happiest as well.
@@adjustedfate Dogs were not made to eat all the salt and sugar that's in our food. You really should rethink how your feeding them. I used to not not better but I learned the hard way.
Dogs lived up in their 20s before they started feeding dog food. It's full of preservatives since it has to have a long shelf life. Also, dog food has alot in it that's not good for them. It's probably best to make your own dog food.

About a year ago our 14 year old Chihuahua, started acting like age hit him fast. Not eating, staring off in the distance. Slow, I switched to pure balance. Senior formula. Within a week he was back to himself. A month later he was acting like he was a puppy. Eyes, coat, . After a 5 year gap from bullys. We decided it was time to get another. We lost our others through the year's from cancer, and age. Neighbors bully's, and pits come visit us daily her blue,, and fawn bully. We picked a puppy. Put him on pure balance large breed puppy. 3 weeks now and it looks to be doing good. I'll be switching to the wild and free formula with no fillers. As the puppy has a very low amount. I changed to cooking the ground chicken with cooked carrots and sewwr potatoes.. The vomiting stopled for a month but has returned. I'm a retired k9 officer. I was taught that going over 21 % protein can burn up the dogs kidneys. Be careful with to high of protein. I've stayed no higher than 21% even with my k9 and have had no problem under the direction of my vet.
How is that possible ? I know people that feed their GSD both raw and cooked meat, and fish, eggs, etc so the protein in their dogs diet is well over 21% and their dog is thriving. To go below 21% is not enough protein for muscle development. As long as the dog is drinking plenty of water it will flush out the kidneys just fine.

Theres a lot of people like me that are looking for the best quality kibble for the lowest price as a filler. I feed raw but i still add a cup of kibble and i would feel alot better knowing that the kibble is a good quality and not something that will get my dog sick
I give my dog half of the suggestion as far as kibble goes and balanced the rest with whole foods and grains all my dogs protein source comes from whole foods chicken Beef and Tuna i give him two cans of tuna weekly all boiled and added to his kibble
Very informative video. The price of dog food has gotten just outrageous, especially with inflation and I have had it! I just pulled my dogs off kibble and am doing chicken thighs, chicken gizzards and liver, ground beef and ground turkey and we have chickens so I always have fresh, free range eggs available if my sister and mom haven't taken them all LOL 😂. But so far so good, it's been two weeks, the hardest part is all the cooking, I have to force myself to do it sometimes, I work too so gotta get the kids on board, my daughter made their food a couple times. I am usually adding coconut oil to their meal and recently brewer's yeast. So can't wait to watch more, isn't it just terrible like really it makes me angry that these dog food or animal food companies do this, try to sell awful crap and make you pay out the ying yang 😤😡 ugh

I have been pondering if the chicken component has crickets and worms in it, like they are adding to chicken from the fast food restaurants. My dog acts allergic to chicken flavored dog food, but seems okay for the chicken off my plate.
I have been feeding Raw for 20 years. Within the last three years all I hear is about how my dog is allergic to chicken, my dog is allergic to chicken. It is always kibble. You don’t know what your dog is allergic to when you’re feeding them kibble. Get your dog on a raw diet if you can. Avoid chicken for a while if you want to. But you may find out that after a few months on Raw your dog can eat chicken just fine. In fact, if your dog can eat raw chicken now go for it. There’s so much extra crap in kibble that kind of allergy test or suspicion is absolutely worthless.
In an older video you recommend 24/20 for puppies and in this video you said 30/20 puppy bag was the best kibble? Did your low protein opinion for puppies change? Also wouldn't 4health strive be the best bang for your buck? If it's 60 for 45lb bag vs 55 for 30lb bag of whole hearted dog food?
I think if you would’ve looked at the Diamond Naturals Chicken & Rice All Life Stages formula, the review would’ve been different. 26/16 protein/fat and real chicken is the first ingredient

Same. First Victor made my cats sick, then the dogs started having problems. Nope.

Yes I mix my kibble and raw food together a lot , I just always recommend to clean there bowl good if your feeding raw

I have been pondering if the chicken component has crickets and worms in it, like they are adding to chicken from the fast food restaurants.
My dog acts allergic to chicken flavored dog food, but seems okay for the chicken off my plate.
I have been feeding Raw for 20 years. Within the last three years all I hear is about how my dog is allergic to chicken, my dog is allergic to chicken. It is always kibble. You don’t know what your dog is allergic to when you’re feeding them kibble. Get your dog on a raw diet if you can. Avoid chicken for a while if you want to. But you may find out that after a few months on Raw your dog can eat chicken just fine. In fact, if your dog can eat raw chicken now go for it. There’s so much extra crap in kibble that kind of allergy test or suspicion is absolutely worthless.
Do you have a guide for natural foods for my American Bully? I think the kibbles is causing the allergies in my dog. I need to change his diet.

In an older video you recommend 24/20 for puppies and in this video you said 30/20 puppy bag was the best kibble? Did your low protein opinion for puppies change? Also wouldn't 4health strive be the best bang for your buck? If it's 60 for 45lb bag vs 55 for 30lb bag of whole hearted dog food?
Protein thoughts have not changed. I chose best bag based on ingredients.

I think if you would’ve looked at the Diamond Naturals Chicken & Rice All Life Stages formula, the review would’ve been different. 26/16 protein/fat and real chicken is the first ingredient
I use pedigrees in the beginning but switched to diamond no issues so far
