Why don't veterinarians give you a list of dog foods and treat that are acceptable?
I talked to my vet and they approved several of the foods on your don't feed your dogs lists. So who are we to believe?
Thanks so much for posting this. I feed my dogs and puppies raw but I also foster pregnant and nursing dogs with puppies and puppies under 8 weeks. So I need a good kibble I can feed them and recommend to their new owners who aren't comfortable with raw feeding. I also use kibble for a treat during training sessions and I don't want to feed my babies garbage!
I went and bought the Wholesome Fish Meal & Rice Formula since my tracker supply was out of the other one. And my dogs LOVED it! I had a nursing mama who's weight had dropped and she would only eat her kibble if another dog was around. But she loves this brand and ate so much of it! Then hours later she was full of energy and acted just like a puppy all silly and playful!! This video was a lifesaver! Thanks so much!!
All a dog really needs is his good quality dog food and fresh water

I fed Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete for a high drive sport dog..,he did fabulously on it..,was surprised.
Can you recommend a kibble for small/medium dogs in the Diamond price range?? Are you approving all Diamond natural or just the large breed lamb??

I just bought the Diamond Naturals Large Breed Lamb and Rice for my guys. We’ll do a slow transition and see how they do on it! (Feeding Nutrisource chicken and rice now).

I’m in the process of switching from Victor Hi-Pro Plus to Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy Lamb & Rice. So far the transition is going good and the puppy is loving the 50/50 blend with no real issues thus far. I think the Victor is a good food with decent results but not quite as premium (natural) ingredients as the Diamond Naturals. I’m keeping a close eye on his stools and skin & coat.
What about Victor purpose Nura Pro that Tractor Supply carries?

I’ve done my research and found , Midwestern dog food has recalls . The sports mix killed dogs . I’m terrified to feed my dogs anything from this company. The FDA reports are all on line .

Blessings and hello, I'm late on this video, but u said science diet is bad, because I been feeding my dogo hills science diet for sensitive stomach and skin chicken and barley and turkey stew and rice in the can for a while now, So they are no good. Let me know asap please. Idk so much bad dog food videos and etc out there. Has my mind all over the place don't know who or what to believe.
Do you still recommend wholesomes fish meal & rice formula? I didn’t see it on the facebook group and was wondering if it was still a good affordable option.

My blue pit has some kind of allergy. Vets haven’t been very helpful. He’s got hotspots, a couple patches on his skin with hair loss from biting and scratching himself all day and night and he’s licked his paws raw. I’ve tried him on 2 different kinds of purina (lamb & rice and true instinct venison) and he didn’t get better. With the lamb and rice purina he actually got worse. Also tried Victor hi pro and he didn’t get better or worse. I’m at a loss at this point. Two different vets were no help in the situation.

I’m getting a puppy in a couple weeks and just ditched the bag of training treats from my cart while watching this video because of the sugar
Me too, therefore I’m going to stick with kibble as training treats instead of the sugary, floury treats.

I have 3 dogs and might switch them Fromm dry to Diamond naturals small breed chicken and rice the purple bag. They also eat 4 health chicken and rice canned food but here recently they have been out at tractor supply so I bought purina chicken and rice smart blend at Walmart. What do you think of the canned food? Are they an okay brand or do you recommend something else?

I thought all those smoked bones were bad for dogs as well. That’s what I was told. I heard only raw bones from the butcher, not cooked.

I film when others are not around. I try not to get anyone on film without their permission.

Correct. Not the variety I used to recommend but I took it off my recommendation list
If you find a dog treat that has a preservative, how do you know if it’s ok or not? Or should you stay away from all preservatives altogether?
Preservatives are not all bad. Ideally if the food or treat as good ingredients then an additional preservative is not bad
It's kinda like adding lemon to homemade blueberry or strawberry jam..something small but ok to keep it from going yucky

What you failed to mention when you were going through the dog food is, high carbs in addition to high protein is good and in fact NEEDED for sporting breeds who work. Victor Pet food i believe is the best and see a difference in my Service Dog.
Those dogs do better on a higher protein higher fat diet, but yes they can eat high protein/high carb. My question is this...how many people shopping at your local tractor supply store do you think have a working breed? Additionally, why not feed a high quality sport food (for example sport dog food.com active whitefish) instead of pricey/middle of the road? There are many factors to consider. I tried victor on 10 dogs and had issues with 7 of the 10. For these reasons I don’t recommend it for the average pet.
@@PadFootPomsPoodlesPals I don't know how you can call Victor pricey and middle of the road when it's half the cost of sport dog food and the ingredient list is almost the same for the first 5-7 ingredients save potato. I don't want my dog eating potato so I will stick to victor
@@joshuahedrick have to agree, i have currently 6 dogs all sport dogs nd all eat victor with no issues.
I've fed victor to all my dogs since it's release in 2007 and have had nothing but great results.
Sport dog food and victor are very similar depending on the formula with victor being cheaper.
Both meal type protein to achieve their goals , both are good foods.
I too use victor I have a AKC White German Shepherd and victor is all I feed her never no problem. I appreciate what the lady said but she said pretty much don’t buy any of the dog food what’s my dog to eat

SD is the worst. Dogs don’t need carbs in their diet. Companies add legumes, potatoes, corn, soy, to cut costs and they continue to raise the price per bag.
So, what treats are actually good for your dog?

I would have to look at the ingredients
2 huge things left out in this video is that vast majority of the dog foods here are cooked at round 300° killing off most of the nutrients. Then most of vitamins added to these foods are synthetic and not natural the way they should be! Some of the foods Acana, Orijen, Stella Chewy and Carna4 to name just a few are some that don't over cook and use natural vitamins along with human grade food to make their dog food!
It wasn’t left out, it’s understood that if you feed processed food it will be over cooked (including the ones you listed). Additionally those foods are high carb, and some contain problematic ingredients like legumes and potatoes. If you want to feed real “human grade” food then you will need to make the food yourself from a complete and balanced recipe (which are free in my group). I absolutely recommend you look into it! ❤️👍

Good video. Maybe add a disclaimer that there is not one good dog food for all breeds or all workloads for dogs. If you have a bulldog breed aside from an English, but to include Olde English Bulldogge, or a working breed the high carbs in Diamond are desirable. If your dog will not work, or is not a high metabolism/high energy outdoors type dog this could potentially cause issues correct.
While they can function on high carb they should ideally be fed a higher quality food with more protein and fat. Dogs can process carbs but nutritionally they don’t have a carb “requirement”
@@PadFootPomsPoodlesPals Correct it isn’t required, my point is a dog with a high workload needs a quality energy source. We take in sugars for this sometimes, dogs take in carbs and process them into sugars for energy. They don’t need them, but just boosting protein and fat in a working dog you will see them lose weight, lean out, or tire out faster in the field. YMMV just experience on my part. Disclaimer I feed diamond naturals, and supplement with natural foods and vitamins as well to round it out.
I wasn’t trying to argue with what you said, just add that it’s a blanket statement when all dogs are not equal in their nutritional requirements based on what they do daily. Thank you for the video and response, always looking to expand perspective and knowledge.

One of the best you can get for the price point. You can get a big 45 pound bag for 50 bucks and it has decent ingredients.

It's not rocket science; Shop for your dog like you would yourself and look at the nutrition labels .
I just got 4Health treats from Tractor Supply that were just freeze dried beef lung. Only ingredient was beef lung and you skipped right over it.

No, I didn't ask for something that would only impact me, like having my shoes shined. Its for the sake of all the people that were so sick and tired of a panic being spread around the world. And all the people led to believe that masks we're going to make a difference, when people could remove them as soon as they sat down at a restaurant, as if sitting made you immune to a virus.
If the video was simply made away from other people, it could have been made without a mask.
