    Absolutely for a doorbell and transformer setup. I almost always put them 18” below finished ceiling height. And most of the time in my area people run either cat5 to them or 4/18 thermostat wire. Yours looks blue, so 99.9% chance it is cat5. Leads me to believe it is more than likely for a door bell. Chances are on trim out you’ll see a chime there

      Yeah that seems to be the answer. I’ll be able to speak with the electrician here soon

      I agree with his assessment. considering the size of the box I think the electrician intends on hiding the transformer in the box and mounting the bell over it. The load side of the transformer is a class 2 power supply meaning that they don't have to hide the load connections on the transformer. If you intend to install a wired doorbell camera make sure you instruct your electricians to install a transformer that accounts for the added load.

      Definitely a cat 5 cable

  • @dougdiplacido2406
    @dougdiplacido2406 6 месяцев назад +3

    The NM cable has to be fastened withing 8 inches of the box. Seems a lot of them are a lot farther from the boxes.

    The depth tabs on the box are set for the typical residential 1/2" sheetrock. If you intend on using thicker sheetrock then you need to adjust the boxes accordingly.

    It's for the power supply for your door bell. The door bell has a transformer that
    steps 120VAC down to 12VDC which powers the bell / buzzer as well as light(s)
    on the door bell buttons. The 12VDC prevents potential electrical shock if a problem develops in the door bell wiring. A common setup.

    WiFi Extender. Probably why there is Cat 5 cable there too.

    I concur that it is a data cable and an outlet for the WiFi/router. As a side note. I believe there should be two double gang boxes where the tv is going to be. The amount of electricity consumers at the tv are far more than you initially think.

    At least your electrician got the boxes plumb to the studs. My drywall guy twisted them so I now have to use a multitool to square then to the drywall. They were plumb when the boxes were installed.

  • @nathangardner772
    @nathangardner772 8 месяцев назад +1

    Junction box for low voltage wiring maybe? The wall switch would heat up that box, then a transformer mounts there and distributes to under cabinet lighting or something.

    Maybe for wifi router since it’s got some Ethernet wire. I had mine on top of the cabinets over the refrigerator in our last house.

      Very good point, I hadn’t noticed the ethernet cable. Makes me wonder if it is for the wireless access point. They didn’t talk with me about adding these or where to have them haha

    It looks like it got data and power in that box. Maybe a TV up way to high, or a wall speaker can't really tell what the data wire is.
