You could probably use the "meter" setting and some logic to streamline the fuel gauge setup you did at one point, it'd be a neat idea for an AI city concept if you had gas/charging stations and the AI vehicles would have to refuel when they're low.
Kan you can build a car using this module with a speed meter, so the idea is that the faster the vehicle moves the less it turn preventing the car from spinning over. It can be useful to fast moving cars for micro manipulation (It's kinda useless cause you can still live with the normal steering but hey it could be fun to try)
make a car with proper 4 wheel steering! So at low speeds, the back wheels turn opposite and at high speed their turn in the same. But for each only a few degrees
In that subject I´d like to see a stearing that adjusts the angle that you can turn your frontwheels depending on the speed you are going. The faster you go the less you can stear. That way you might get way better control over fast moving vehicles and don´t just spin, flip or just follow a straight line as soon as you stear.
Very cool. Hmm... I wonder if you could adjust suspension stiffness on the fly with a similar system. Measure how compressed the suspension is (which shouldn't be hard digital sensor output) and then adjust stiffness up or down as appropriate to keep it within a certain compression range. I can think of a few applications off the top of my head -- anti-roll mechanism, on-the-fly suspension adjustment for load, terrain, or ride height, etc.
It kinda is, beacause you can also use a piston as a suspension when you lower the power with the smart engine controller. you could even set the rebound with that
I often tried a steering system with electric engines, for the turning speed and angle, but it was very unefficient. Now seeing your great idea with simply comparing steering angle positions with the gauge, makes a great base for trying it again. Thats often why I watch your videos, simply for the ideas i get and for unique ways to do things, even if they seem useless first.
I thought it was gonna be that if you hold for example the D key longer then it will rotate further like in a real car: rotate the steering wheel further to the right and the weels will turn further to the right. Also there should be a logic block in which you can set 2 values for example 1 and 2. And if it gets an input of 3, it'll output 2. So it clamps the value between 2 constants. Also 0 dislikes :D
There are already 2 math block settings you can use to clamp the value, the MIN setting takes all the input values and outputs the smallest one and MAX does the opposite. You can clamp by inputting the value and the upper bound into a MIN logic block and then sending that and a lower bound into a MAX logic block, clamping the value.
you should try to make driver assist features like traction control ABS and stability control. and test if they could actually be useful in scrap mechanic.
Here's a practical purpose for this: if, for example, you have a vehicle with four sets of wheels, and they all steer, you can make the inner wheels turn less than the outer wheels, to optimise the turn. Also, if you allow different maximum angles for both directions, you can fine tune the angle of the axles to all meet at a single point when turning in either direction (or close enough to a single point), optimising the system even more. Several steering systems, such as the Ackerman linkage, do this mechanically, but this digital system works better for the grid based nature of the game.
this game shouldn’t be called scrap mechanic it should be called “welcome to mechanical engineering the game” its like kerbal space program. I can now put all this physics, statics, dynamics, and calculus to work in a video game
Have you tried to feed a decimal number into an electric motor or thruster? Also, you should try to plug in a number higher than 1 or -1 into an electric motor. Please relay with results
I haven't tried with vanilla thrusters (that is what smart thrusters are for) but with electric engines decimal works as expected but it maxes out at -1 and 1.
Use this for multiplayer monday. Try to make your own battle bots and give everyone the remote control setup with the controller vehicle remote control setup so people have creativity. There are infinite respawns for your battle bots. The battle bots have to be made with destructable blocks and you have to destroy eachothers bases which you could do using the explosives. Everyone has 20 minutes to build a battle bot and a base which can be 16 by 16 wide. You can have as many types of bots, bombers, ranged etcetera. The bots can has to be below 9 by 9. And there needs to be 4 huge explosives in your base
Can you use this to create sequences with this like a controller? Then you could make some really complex behavior in creations without a bazillion bearings.
Make a bomb that needs to be defused by doing different things. Like flip this switch, hit these buttons, remove this pipe, hit this with a hammer, etc.
Electric motors are stepper motors, which means you can precisely control their angle blindly by feeding them one-tick pulses. In other words, you could have done this much simpler using only vanilla parts.
Couldn't you hook up a speed meter to it somehow and make a smart steering that decreases the maximum angle at higher speeds to prevent flipping the vehicle?
kAN, using this model, does this mean you could make a steering vehicle with decent Ackerman? And if it does, do you think Scrap mechanic would have any clue how to deal with it?
I think that’s unnecessary if you use that system just so you don’t need to bearings. But I think that’s a good system for a car that could have driving presets like sport and causal. You could have it turn faster and wider for sport and slower and narrower for road driving.
Kan for the life of me I can't figure out a thruster that runs for 10 seconds and needs 30 seconds to "recharge" You got a build that has that? Maybe the old multiplayer Monday two person motorcycles?
It is difficult to understand how to make ai with intelligentia, could you perhaps make a video explaining how to make a simple car AI that chases players with a turret step by step, I can tell plenty of others have the same problem.
there is another mod that is similar to this and its way easier i think i dont know i havent try to make a working thing with the mod i dont know what the mod called but there is a website that i can download it its not english tho maybe google translator will help her is the link lttlword.ru/category/scrap-mechanic

True :D
Remake The Ai City Prototype With This!!! LIKE IF AGREE!
Alex Heiskanen It is not AI though
@@whyjay1 it could be now
Congrats for 100k kan!
Every day we get closer to making a Toyota Camry in scrap mechanic
XD
MisterChilli Gaming Not an R8? Not an RX7? A Camry?? Really??
@@THESLlCK ...
are you an ACTUAL car guy?
the CG nerd Yeah u know it
@@THESLlCK ok well are you a guy who appreciates cars or a guy who appreciates fast expensive cars? you know, the stereotypical car guy.

Mike Wang I like this idea
100K!!!! Way to go kAN!!!! Here is to the next 100K, don't ever stop man!!!
Loved the video!
Congrats for 100k subscribers!

Sett i was thinking about that too. Kan make a honda prelude 4ws
Hell yeah, that'd be pretty sweet.

badibedix: That'd be pretty cool too, and would work great for drag races and the like.
Or multiple axle truck with right steering angle on each axle...

not possible
Aw. Too bad.

@@firestorm2041 Interesting. Be curious to see how well something like that works.
Another point to this would be being able to set camber as well.

CorporalWill123 So a number like 0.5 or -0.5 would run the motor at half speed?
Ethan Thomas Yup
I don't need this, but it gave me some ideas for my world, thank you
You can simple hook an + and an - mathblock into the AD/WS block D/W is + A/S is - they will output a logic signal
Love it! 👍
Now I like this channel
congrats on 100k subs

finally a less buggy way to do proper forklift steering. Their rear steering hits 60 degrees in real life!

Logic! YAY!
You could probably hook it up to a velocity sensor and have the allowable angle shrink the faster you go and increase the slower you go
How would you get multi-digit numbers with the number blocks?
an explosive bus race for multiplayer Monday with tight turns
You hittttt 100k

You can use this, but it would be better to remake it into someting smaller.
+CorporalWill123 I meant this general concept of comparing angles, not this module specifically.
I LOVE YOU KAN

You should do an episode on the modpack's gimbal thrusters like in trailmakers but in scrap mechanic.
Couldn't you hook up a speed meter to it somehow and make a smart steering that decreases the maximum angle at higher speeds to prevent flipping the vehicle?
@kan You should use that steering mechanism to make a limited steering car race for a multiplayer Monday challenge.
How many logic blocks you think you would need if this were in vanilla…?
is there a way to make it so this can convert WS into AD with the one bearing system?
kAN, using this model, does this mean you could make a steering vehicle with decent Ackerman? And if it does, do you think Scrap mechanic would have any clue how to deal with it?

now use math block to create matrix math for using to make a neural network
you should do a gps car like if you agree pls
You know... this is cool and all but it is much easier to just use a tank drive system over a single bearing (per wheel obviously).

There's a mod with like 1 block to do exactly that.
