I bought a 2021 Venza Limited in September 2020. Drive out price was $43K. No regrets … love it. We just drove it from Illinois to Arizona and it was great. Its first major road trip and we were very pleased with the mpg. It was a very very comfortable ride. So different from our 2012 Prius C. That little Prius gets over 50 mpg. She’s got over 148K miles and is a gem! Both the Venza and Prius C are white (blizzard pearl and moon glow, respectively). So they’re sisters!
I tried both the Rav 4 and the Venza. I found the Venza did drive and rode somewhat better. The feel of the interior seemed much better. I will go for the Venza.
I had RAV4 Hybrid 2019 Limited for almost 3 years. It was great except the cabin noise. It was really noisy especially on the highway and with winter tires. I returned my RAV 4 and leased 2022 Venza Limited. What a difference! Very smooth and refined driving experience and the cabin is way quieter in the Venza. The Head Up display is amazing and I LOVE IT. The star gazing roof is fun. IMHO after spending 3 years with RAV 4 Hybrid limited, Venza was the way to go. I forgot to mention the power folding mirrors and it is 100% Made in Japan. One other thing, The Hybrid battery in the Venza is Lithium and it charges faster and last longer.
Would pick venza all day long
I did buy a Venza because the seats were much more comfortable and on long trips that was of the highest consideration. We are 60 & 65 and seats were the game changer.
I'm pushing 50 so I want luxury and comfy seats!
You are absolutely correct. Also one touch up and down buttons on all four windows along with heated and ventilated seats were considerations when evaluating the Toyota Venza.
I took a decibel reading of the sound inside the car while going down the freeway and it was between 72 and 76 decibels. That is Lexus territory right there.
So comfy.

The Venza is the better buy in my opinion. Too many RAV4's out there, I see one in every corner. Venza is more stylish, comfortable, and quieter and has that Lexus look at Toyota price. People complain about the lack of buttons, but I actually like that better and is easier to use after 1 or 2 days.
The Rag 4 is far more popular than the others
My wife and I just purchased the 2023 Venza LE, what was the deciding factor for the wife was the more premium look and so we are just testing it out. Right now we are getting about 37 miles to the gallon but she does do more highway driving that city driving. It is a very smooth ride, it feels very solid when accelerating, it feels like the right amount of power. My wife loves her new Venza, she enjoys the look and she is a modest driver when it comes to getting around. A solid purchase for us and the part SHE loves best, is there are only a few Venzas while the Rav is like every place, gives her a feeling of exclusivity. :)😊
In my case the price difference is minimal as the fully loaded Rav4 is less than 2000 cheaper than a Venza limited. After test driving I thought Venza was better insulated and cabin was much more luxurious. It felt quieter. Venza also has an extra electric motor giving 80% power to the back wheels vs 50% for the Rav 4. Venza is made in Japan, Rav4 in Canada. I think all of these things make it much more appealing to me.

@@cargopilot747 Absolutely better looking. The oft emphasized compromise is the loss of useful space in the Venza, that will manifest intermittently. Most of us believe the "made in Japan" thing really matters.

I bought a 2021 Venza new. I got the base model and love it. The worst gas milage I have experienced is 38 mpg in the winter. The summer has yielded 48-51 mpg!!!! I watch the indicators in the car and try to keep it in the eco, not power zone.
Toyota Venza LE is the sweet spot. You get volume knobs and buttons which are missing in the XLE and Limited. The Venza LE is closer in price to the RAV with a more premium interior, quieter more refined ride, and superior all wheel drive system. The Venza can direct more power to the rear wheels compared to the RAV4, so the drive systems are related but not the same. The LE is loaded with all the tech - minus the moon roof, heads-up display, and softech seat material. Finally, the Venza a/k/a the Harrier is a Japanese domestic market vehicle fully manufactured in JAPAN.
Is that true about more power being directed to the rear wheels of the Venza? I couldn't find that info anywhere. It seems to be true when I romp on both of them the Venza seems to accelerate faster so I think you are right.

@@powerguymark the total system output is the same as the RAV4 but the Venza can direct up to 80% of the power to the rear wheels vs 60% in the RAV. Since the total system output is the same, I do not know if it is faster but the Venza should have superior traction.

Exactly!!! I was considering the Venza as I wanted a hybrid to replace my 2013 Pathfinder. But upon learning I can’t even open the moonroof that is so big….pass!
Totally agree about the sunroof. If I brought home the Venza and my wife saw the sunroof didn’t open she’d tell me to take it back.
@@bradtrades wife recently purchased a 22 Forester Wilderness Edition with the panoramic sunroof-to our surprise of 2022, it doesn’t tilt!!! Either open (full or partially) or closed. No cracking the sunroof open with the car parked on hot summer days
I drove both Venza and RAV4 in Canadian cold winters with lots of snow, I have never ever once stuck in the snow with the RAV 4 but with Venza I have. Venza is not a bad car at all but I always preferred Rav4 over Venza.
Both are nice vehicle. My vote is for Venza!!
I went with the Rav4 hybrid due to cost and availability. Although I do prefer the look of the Venza.

I bought my 2021 venza a little over a year ago. I was debating between a rav & the venza. I chose the venza because I personally liked the “luxurious” look better than the sporty rav4.
My wife and I purchased the Toyota Venza on Father's Day.
Part of the deciding factor was its premium interior, quieter ride than the RAV4 which measured 72 to 76 decibels going down the freeway in the One Touch operation up and down on the four windows.
Having heated ventilated and cooling seats also the 8-way power seats and telescoping steering wheel was nice.
I am also getting 40 to 50 mpg with mixed freeway and City driving.
I recently filled up 10 gallons of gas in the odometer read 500 miles.
A fantastic vehicle.
Both are great vehicles in their own ways, but I'm more toward the Venza for its Lexus like looks & features. I would easily recommend the Venza for my mother as a replacement for her current 2017 Camry XLE if she were to upgrade to a crossover. Someone at my job is currently saving up for a RAV4 to replace her problematic 2012 Chevrolet Cruze that she bought new a decade ago.
The base model Venza has the same center controls as the Rav4, with buttons and dials, and Rav4s are marked up 3-5k over msrp right now while Venzas are not, so they're the same cost. Just depends on what look your going for Lexus luxury or more rugged offroad.
Unfortunately rav4 limited right now are being sold more than Venza limited so that’s why I’ve settled on a Venza. I think its also important to note that the rav4 has to towing while the Venza does not

I got a Rav 4 XLE gas 1st then 2 days later a very hard to find venza XLE hybrid got to be available at the dealership ...and that was it...brought the Rav 4 back and got the venza ...and frankly I absolutely love it. The infotainment system is not that bad...u get used to it. I just love the way it looks especially the back tail lights
There are three motors not two. MG1 starts the internal combustion engine, it can also charge the hybrid battery and provide additional torque. MG2 drives the front wheels in conjunction with power from the internal combustion engine.
MGR provides torque to the two rear wheels functioning similarly to a 50 horsepower turbocharger when increased acceleration is needed. It also provides additional traction from 0 to 10 mph or when traction control detects slipping.
Does the 3 motors in the Venza make it better?
I loooooove that the moon roof doesn't open on the Venza, less water headaches like with those vehicles that open. I'm more of a sporty chick but there are certain things that the Venza offers that I can't ignore. Hearing the seats are more comfortable will also be a deciding factor.
For me, the biggest sale point of Venza is assembled in Japan. If my budge is limited, I'll buy the entry level Rav4. If budget is not a problem, I'll buy Venza rather than Rav4 of same price (with higher trim).
I already have the venza. I love it. Although if the rate prime was available at the time I bought my venza, I would've gone with that and been very happy.

To be totally fair you should compare the Venza with the Rav4 Limited hybrid with the next to top-level trim... they come out to around equal in price... but, I agree that the center console and controls on the Rav4 are laid out and designed much better... and even though I think the Venza looks far better to me, its center control layout is a disaster and the rake of the rear end takes away a lot of vertical space in the rear cargo area... but, it does look good.
I decided on the Rav limited hybrid. Love it.
Every time I hear people talk about the consoles being a “wreck” on anything touchscreen, I think to myself “oh my god these people are so old”
I understand the buttons are important,
But having driven a Tesla that doesn’t even have buttons, The Venza still has a lot of buttons and functionality for those people who hate touch screens. I’m my opinion you guys are just nitpicking

After test driving these vehicles I was pleasantly surprised how very smooth and quiet the hybrid system works, you can barely tell when the engine is turning on /off. The only one concern is that the waiting period is 12-14 months 😔.

I like the looks of venza but I would go for Rav4 because of its towing capacity!
Good review. Personally, I would buy the RAV4 Hybrid because it offers a trailer hitch, while the Venza is not rated for towing.
I put a hitch on my Venza. Haven't pulled anything and don't intend to just using it for my e-bikes.

I hope the Venza is available w/o the panoramic sunroof because my understanding is if in the not so likely event that it breaks it is difficult and horrendously expensive to replace.

The NX actually has the electric motor from last year's RX 450h which gives it a 239hp output with the same 6.0 l/100km fuel economy. So not the same as the Venza or the RAV4.
However, the Lexus NX requires premium fuel

I like them both. That’s why I bought a 2023 Venza Limited in Ruby Flare Pearl for my wife. And a 2023 RAV4 XLE Premium In Windchill Pearl for my son. Both at MSRP.
I bought a Venza limited 2021. I suspect the video is entirely correct in its conclusion. I simply liked the look and interior finish better. The major drawback of the Venza (shared by the Rav 4) is the navigation and safety electronics which need a lot of improvement.
We tried both. My old timer excellent driver husband and my novice self both found venza better! More comfortable, quieter, and much better feel overall, close to a lexus.
Rav4 feels more like the honda crv's and hyundai tucson's even.
i bought a used venza le for a great price. 21k miles, 2021 so still under warranty. it’s a great vehicle to drive. the tech is simple and the le uses the basic tech and has actual knobs for the temp controls. the only issue is poor estimates on miles to empty. it estimates low so you think you need to refill when you actually have ~ 4 gallons left. the gas gauge is accurate just the miles to empty is wonky. i am checking if any tech update was posted to correct the issue,

I have tested the new Venza vs my first generation Venza and the one thing I hated the most on this one was the road and wind noise. It does not even come close to the previous version in this category. You would think that since it is built in Japan and at this price point the cabin would be insulated to the noise. I will wait till I see a vast improvement in this version along with the dashboard controls before I would look at it again.
The first gen Venza was Highlander based, so it was a different class of vehicle than the RAV4 based current generation.

HI, I thought I would point out that the RAV4 Hybrid and the Venza have 219 hp and run on Regular fuel. The NX 350h has a 240 hp drivetrain though Premium fuel is recommended.

I have a 21 Rav XSE which I really like, May have preferred the Venza but the XLE has no nav, no moon roof and I prefer knobs to turn and push. I won't trade but always look at Venzas on the road.
Venza LE starts with way more equipment than a Rav4 LE Hybrid hence the price difference. Actually the LE Venza equipment lines up better with a XLE Rav4 HB
I recently rented what I think was a 2022 Venza for a week. Coming from a 2008 Nissan Rogue, it definitely was smoother, and quieter. But also compared to the Rogue the pedal took a lot more pressure to push down and it also felt heavier as well. I haven't tried any other Hybrid vehicles, but I'm glad that both the RAV-4 and Venza are basically the same car, which will allow me to skip test-driving the RAV-4 when car shopping.

I Have 2021 Rav4 XLE premium, I am thinking to booking an XLE hybrid now and I am told it may take even 24 months, I cant wait that long, but a 12 month is good.
A well explained and informative video. I would only add two points, plz correct me if I am wrong,
1. Venza uses Lithium-ion battery but RAV4 uses Nickel Metal Hydride battery. Of course both have an excellent safety standard. I would still prefer the Nickel Metal Hydride battery.
2. Venza doesn't have towing capability like RAV4. I consider Venza more of an in-city semi luxurious SUV.
Personally I feel RAV4 is more stylish and aggressive looking compared to Venza. I'll go with RAV4.

Both vehicles are nice. It would be nice if one or both came with a third row, especially considering the prices.
That's what the Highlander is for.
Funny but we chose the Venza because we didn't like the boxiness trucklike look of the RAV4. We did find the Venza was much quieter and smoother than the RAV4. It was worth giving up a bit of space to get a quieter and smoother ride and a much nicer interior. The RAV4 seems very truckish inside and out whereas the Venza is more stylish. It was not mentioned that you can get the same infotainment system in the Venza as the RAV4. You just have to get a lower level Venza. Honestly, the infotainment system in the Venza Limited was not difficult to learn and while there isn't a volume or tuning nob, you do have buttons on the steering wheel that will do the job. In the end, pick the vehicle that you like the look of and that fits into your budget.
In the gas engine you don't have to worry about replacing the high voltage ⚡ battery

I have owned both and vote for the RAV4. The Venza paint job is very fragile and scratches very easily. I'm going back to RAV4 (in 4 weeks).

In my opinion this was a venza advertisement. I own them both but comparing is not the same. Practicality rav 4 would win all day long. On venza you need to go to your touch scree to change your air settings likewise on the rav 4 everything is with buttons and knobs. Trunk space especially whith kids i will park the venza inside the rav 4. And if you have bikes and put them on the trail hitch forget it on the venza. Looks and ride might be better but i would take the rav 4 xle premium to any terrain and adventure and the venza to any party events. Enjoy them both great cars

I went with the Rav 4 Hybrid for the exact reasons you said after doing a comparison on the Venza. It's not much different so why pay more and I would rather functional buttons and a sunroof that opens.

The base model Venza has the same buttons as the Rav and the Venza is not marked up over msrp like the Rav making price the same.
The base Venza model LE comes with Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) while Rav4 doesn't. Also, cabin noise is much lower in Venza.
Traded our Subaru Outback 3.6 Limited on a Venza Limited; we waited for the Venza because the Rav4 was too rough, and we tried many over the years. I am afraid that you did not make a fair comparison, especially if you had tried the Limited. Also, some of your comments were dismissive of what is actually a feature, nit a flaw. I won't go on and on, I just won't subscribe to an opinion-based, not fact based channel. I guess I should be happy for you that you have enough subscribers to make money giving opinions.
You stated that the Rav4 ICE and Hybrid are not far apart in price. I did a comparison based on Toyota website pricing for Limited trim and determined a $2600 premium for the hybrid over the ICE. At 12000mi/year, based on $3.50/g it would take almost 15 years to breakeven on fuel based on the stated max mpg for each model which by the way is only 3mpg better for the hybrid. Why would I spend $2600 for a 3 mpg difference? This math is much different for sedans, and it comes out better for the hybrids. For SUVs though I don't understand why there is next to no benefit in mpg on most models. Same for trucks. I'll list ICE first then Hybrid and include the $ delta. Camry 39 vs 53 ($2585), Avalon 32 vs 44 ($1025), Rav4 35 vs 38 ($2600). Let me know if you see a mistake in my math.
It would be much sooner than that if you factor in mileage during stop and go city driving. Plus you are not considering that the hybrid has far higher resale value and greater desirability to buyers. It will easily be worth $3-5K more than the gas model when you sell or trade in so the net result is big savings. Plus the hybrid is quieter, smoother and more powerful. It is a clear win win.
@@carhelpcorner I guess I don’t understand your point about mileage. 12000 is 12000. We rented the ice model for a week on vacation and our relatives had the hybrid so we were in and out of both for 10 days. We did not notice the “quieter, smoother, more powerful” that you mention. Resale is a good point.

I like the Venza by aerodynamics design but I hate the control panel all by touch touch system and weird start push button which is hidden too🤣 touch touch system makes you to confuse as what you are touching as you drive, if the panel not responding after years by malfunction in Cold weather,you may get lost and simply tow the vehicle woe 😮

You are misleading your viewers when you don’t mention that these cars have a fatal flaw with the corroding high voltage cable that Toyota is only covering on their 3 year warranty and costs $7000 to repair. A class action law suit has just been filed in Quebec
This wasn't a well known issue at the time this video was recorded. I'll touch on it in a future video when Toyota releases updates on how they will address it

I was in my local Toyota dealership parking lot today. They had a Camry Hybrid with a 7,500 adjusted sticker. $45,000 plus. Really, why should I buy a hybrid off these thieves.

The front end of the RAV4 is ugly, with drag-producing indentations that have no function (no lights, no vents) and damage the aerodynamics. The Venza comes out way ahead on esthetics.
