  • Well, I had planned to make these Faux Sugar Eggs back in January when I first started planning projects for the release of the Salvaged Rabbits and Tiny Eggs. I have been procrastinating doing it thought because I was intimidated by the Faux Frosting piping with the texture paste.
    I finally decided just to do it and although they are far from perfect, they are good enough for me and I had a blast making them.
    I have temporarily turned the comments back on my tutorials. As you know I do this in my spare time as a hobby and I don't have time to monitor everything, but I thought I would give it a try to see if I can keep up with it.

      You can do it!! It goes pretty fast once you get started. The texture paste dries overnight and that took the longest.

    Oh my gosh. These are so sweet! I love your attention to detail as always and I absolutely show your “unique twists” that make them so special. Thank you for showing that perfection is not the goal but it’s the creation of the make that is. 🤗🇨🇦🤗 Liz

    These are adorable. I always love your videos. When emptying your piping bag, if you remove the tip before squeezing out the rest of the paste, it's so much easier to get the paste out.

    If you didn't point out the icing alignment I would never have noticed! I think you did an amazing job and especially loved your affirmation "I can do this" while you were piping! I think we all need to say to ourselves more often. These are so beautiful and remind me of the delicate sugared eggs we always found in our Easter baskets when I was a kid. You always imagine the most clever projects and make them happen. Thanks for sharing your talent and inspiration!

    How clever to use the tartlet tin as a stand for the egg!
    I've used them for baking the almond tartlets (i saw the recipe on the box). They're a pain to make, but they're delicious with a dollop of strawberry jam and some whipped cream.

    I love the TH rabbits and eggs, and this was the first thing I thought of when I saw them. Thanks for sharing how you made them.❤ I have made fake bakes, and if you don't have texture paste to use for the "frosting", you can use lightweight spackle that you can get at Walmart or any hardware store like Lowes, etc.

    • @Playswellwithpaper
      @Playswellwithpaper  Год назад

      Thank you! I look forward to seeing your version! I took so stinking long to make these I was sure others would have already perfected them before I even filled a piping bag. 😂
      The spackle idea sounds like a great option for faux frosting.

    Don’t know how I missed this when you first posted it. I adore sugar eggs. Brings back my childhood when the Easter bunny brought me a beautiful one every year. (That was a looong time ago 😁). This, as always, was an incredible project and I’m definitely going to make some this spring. Loved the hack with the piping bag and you did a great job. You and Tim have unique ways of explaining techniques that makes even the most complex processes achievable. As always, thanks for sharing! PS-You have spare time? I find that difficult to believe. Can’t imagine how you accomplish all you do.

    Old cake decorator here, and you did a wonderful job on the "frosting!" I love the plastic wrap hack! Not sure if it's ok to mention a non- Ranger product here, but another alternative for the frosting might be Craftsmart Whipped air dry clay. (from Michaels) It comes in its own decorator bag with tips. The extra can still be stored in the decorator bag.
    Love the backgrounds and the beautiful distress colors!
