I've got one on the way in natural. As for the strings, on the Glarry site they list the gauges, so if they are just cutting these gauges down and getting that sound, then I have no worries.
Yeah, according to admins on a couple of bass specific sites who asked around for me, there's no problem cutting the strings that short beyond possibly fitting the low E thru the post hole. It can be a bit snug. I had a similar issue with my Ibanez Mikro but I got 30" scale to work on that bass. You can always boil the strings too. that will allow you to reuse the stock ones a few times before new strings are absolutely necessary.
Perfect... I just got 1 of these for my 16 year old grand daughter. She is 4'9" and I wanted a guitar that would be sized to her stature but still quality. I am feeling good about the purchase.
I believe you just need to change the nut and possibly the bridge depending on the number of strings on the instrument. This 25.5"scale bass and the 28.6" scale Ibanez mikro basses should be fairly easy to convert to one or the other.
Just a heads up....the pickups are smaller than normal jazz pickups. I put the old one out of my Ibanez mikro in mine, i had to remove a LOT of wood to make it fit. It sure sounds better tho, even if i hacked it up......super fun to play!
Yeah, thanks for the heads up. I had a similar situation with my Mikro when I upgraded it's pickups. It seems that more windings for more output needs a taller bobbin to fit all that wire.
So have I. None of these are considered bass guitars tho. a Bass ukelele is still a UKELELE and anything smaller than that has no chance of being called a "guitar"
Jazz bass. I didn't measure them for proper size but they're either a standard size set -bridge/neck- or 2 neck pickups because the string spacing is narrower than a standard bass.
You can't even GET the GJAZZ Any more... MAYBE "USED", If You're Lucky!! VERY Under-rated..All it Is is a Warkwick Mini Copy. I bought one of these after seeing some of these videos. They are right - this is an little bass! Great sound and great quality. However I was really disappointed when I found Glarry will NOTsupport this bass by providing the special 25.5" strings it requires. You can only cut down longer strings that will not reach their design tension, and will sound muddy. Consider this before you buy one.
There are other short scale basses close to this size. Ibanez and esp both have 28.6" scale basses that they support with strings and thomann in germany sells extra short scale strings for their harley benton line. IIRC they have a 25.5" scale bass but I could be wrong. Would electric ukelele strings work?
@@Great-Documentaries I looked into this. You're right. no one make 25.5" scale bass strings. I have feelers out to a couple bass string only websites for more info but everything points to no one making them. several sites say you can trim the low E and get it thru the post. They recommend cutting it after winding the string tho.
I am using d'addario xl short scale roundwounds. I tried Rotosound swing bass strings but ran into the low tension/muddy tone thing that was not at all what I wanted@@RJsCave

Great video…subscribed
Thank you and welcome!

Yeah, absolutely. She should find it to be a perfect fit.
How would this work as a Piccolo bass/baritone tenor guitar?

Great Video Review. Just bought one about 3 days ago as myb1st bass. I'm 57yrs old. What do the 3 silver knows do, which is for what?
1 volume for each pickup and a master tone control.
@RJsCave Thank You.

Cool, what brand or size in lenght strings would fit on this short bass, Thank you
Ibanez sells strings for their Mikro that should work with a little trimming. someone else here found out that D'addarrio short scale strings work
There are uke bases that are smaller than the gw101 and I've seen mini-basses that are even smaller.
So have I. None of these are considered bass guitars tho. a Bass ukelele is still a UKELELE and anything smaller than that has no chance of being called a "guitar"
May be for kids but it’s also for adults . This is a kool kool BASS SUPER BASS
Just curious, but did you mention what type of pickups the bass has? Thank you.

Great work RJ, that was awesome 😀🤘🎵🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wish they'd make this into a 6 string guitar.
Love this...
I just bought another one to turn into a guitar. See what you made me do. Lol
@@RJsCave I guess I'll be subscribing. Gotta see that!
@@GuitarP0RN LOL yeah man. It's going to be a guitar like no other too. You gave me ideas.
the body looks just like a Rickenbacker bass....
I was thinking an upside down Ibanez Iceman
Actually is a warwick fortress copy.
I think it would be cool to tune it to F standard and play along with an 8 string guitar
That would work!
