What a great dad and what a great little legend you are, Ellen. There's no better team in music on RUclips at this point. For entertainment value, musicianship, and the feel-good vibe you guys bring, you own this thing! Respect.
I love how she looks at her dad with such admiration and love. You can tell they have a very special relationship. Keep up the great work, Ellen.
Wonder how the channel goes when she hits teenage rebellion years.
@@A_Maggot I think that's when it will get interesting and find its niche, just quietly.
Exploiting one's daughter isn't cool.
Yep her dad is amazing, cool guy, his passion for the music is great. Ellen couldn't get a better bass teacher.
I absolutely love watching the absolute joy that just pours out of you when you play!!! Keep up the fantastic job young lady!!!
She is soooooo good! Wow. And she has best teacher for her...And her laughing makes my heart happy ...Thank you God. Bless your Family
I totally agree 😃
Está tocando muito. Já sou teu fã Gilberto do brasil
I totally agree...I love her videos...she is so cute and a great musician
You‘re welcome. (God here, obviously)
Is he her father?
I wish , I had a Bass like this when we were kids,we had a Bass with warped neck! The strings were half inch to high, strengthened our fingers
I never thought I'd be inspired by a little kid. Ellen makes me want to get off my butt and work on the stuff I love to do. Painting, biking, and yes, even playing the bass. I'm 58 and Ellen already blows me away. Good job dad, btw, you rock too.
What a pleasant way to start my day ............... Ellen and Pop - This makes my upcoming weekend soooooooo much better. Hope your weekend is enjoyable and safe - thanks for the pump up ........... I would add this, amazing how well you are doing in a relatively short period of time
You are too nice together :-) And the bass suits Ellen perfectly, sounds exactly as it should. A really good bass with Ellen's magic fingers.
She has perfect timing in her playing :-)
Still can't realize what the long scale is for! I started mastering the bass when I was about 13. And there was a bass with a scale shorter then another one I tried. And it was very comfortable and light. So I liked that guitar very much. And later when the lease of that short bass was up I bought another one with a long scale. It was shock! I cried experiencing great difficulties and dreamed of something shorter. And a couple of weeks ago I came across your channel. I saw such a pretty lady playing the bass I dreamed of 40 years ago! It seems comfortable to me even now when I am 50. Ellen go on!!! You play the best instrument on Earth!
Hi from Brazil, congratulations ! Carlos Roberto, 48 y, musician too.
What a light of life..that is a cool bass..keep trucking on dear Ellen..love ur playing
After the loss of my mum before 3 years ago, i had a bad luck and difficulties i had and still have to go through. I really had bad thinkings passing through my tired mind. Today i received a gift as i found Ellen's videos. The bright light that is coming through her beauty, gave me a lesson to realise what a miracle our life is. I have a rare short scale Gibson SG bass. I hope sometime you come in Kefalonia Greece for summer vacation where you can stay in my house where my mum used to live and now it is empty, for free. I will be very happy if i see this amazing beautiful gifted angel playing with my SG bass. It is an open invitation if you like to come for relaxing summer holidays here in Kefalonia. I will fix the bass hoping sometime Ellen come to make it sound again. I will try make a video so you can see it. My best wishes to you Ellen princess and your lovely dad. Congratulations to both of you.
Ellen, you are educating a lot of people. Your videos with dad are so fun to watch.
The bass is cool (I thought its price is somewhere between 2 and 3 hundred bucks), and Ellen is awesome and lucky one to have such a Dad, who is both a friend and a mentor. Thank you guys for the video and for the vibe! You earned my "like"!
Thanks Ellen, Hovak, and Derek 👍
Cool how you show how low key affordable entrance gear can be enough to become a good player. Everyone should start like that. Great video again as always! 😃
Thanks for the fun and informative video! I loved the envelope filter in the demo!
Do you ever play fretless bass?
Yes, practicing it slowly to get used to it.
@@EllenPlaysBass Nice! I look forward to seeing that sometime in the future!
Fretless acoustic upright bass might be fun in the future as well. I've seen very young people in bluegrass music bands using stepstools to enable them to play those.
Incredible playing !
Lovely couple (Dad + Ellen) Her smile added up with her skill with the bass is unbeatable ❤
This reminds me the Amadeus movie. Salieri says "I do not envy Mozart, but I do envy having a father like his who taught him everything since he was a child".
Wow little one, you are growing up before our eyes… You are sounding awesome… Shout out to the coolest dad in the world… God bless you both… Love your channel… 🤘🥰👏👏👏🙏
I've seen a few of your videos and your playing is really impressive. I hope you're having as much fun as it looks like you're having. I wish you all the best.
With a scale length of 25 & 1/2”, the Glary Bass has the same scale length as a Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster. It sounds surprisingly good for a bass with an ultra-short scale length.
Ellen your music playing is phenomenal but your beautiful personality is just awesome. Love watching your videos.
You're great Ellen, a prodigy. never lose that beautiful smile, sdos Argentina 🇦🇷 🇦🇷
Makes my heart feel warm to watch you. It's so important to have a purpose with your life that you also can measure by how you improve your skills. I picked music but anything that keeps your interest up and keep you away from trouble is great. You are just so cute and you played the bass so good already. And I love hearing your laugh and see you smile❤❤
It’s incredibly satisfying to see this young musician’s journey!
I’ve no doubt whatsoever, that if she stopped playing the bass, she’d totally rock any path she chooses.
“You go, Grrrrrl !”
25.5" scale ... that is perfect, looks great, and it sounds as good as anything post surgery.
i usually run synth bass, ( synth everything, via Linnstrument 128, while i am trying to get a new guitar rig together )
i think i changed almost everything on my cheap Travelcaster guitar, trying to get my sound here.... the bridge, the electronics, the tuners, and thinking about jumbo frets now.
but at that price, i might also get a bass just to layer with some of my synth bass tracks .... not much room in my studio as it is, ( so i booked marked it, thanks )
i have been a guitarist for most of my life.....i just really got into synthesis, and sort of forgot about guitar for awhile, but i am getting back into it.
i was building a custom baritone guitar, and Stew-Mac had a *Bad Number* published for Floyd Rose offset,
( i shouldn't have trusted that publication, and i wonder how many other luthier nightmares it spawned before they realized it, and took it off the web )
about $1,000 , and years, down the drain ( it won't intonate, and will be a nasty fix ).... so i started over cheap, and it's not bad.
i am trying to get ready for winter in Wisconsin, i have $0 in my account now.
i have to not starve to death first; but i like the "yellow" one too, because it looks like a vintage amber clear coat.
same scale as my Travelcaster...i am going to set it up tight on a heavy set, like B-E-A-D Gauge, but up to snuff on that scale.
Ellen you're awesome. I just picked up one of these little bass guitars, Very nice.
Just stumbled across this video. Very entertaining and enjoyable. The young lady's charm, talent, energy and enthusiasm are all very well displayed. i will subscribe to support your work.
Ellen is very talented and she is blessed with a wonderful dad that has made music learning fun her whole life so far. Keep ups the good work , from a non musical old person.
This IS a really great little bass! I bought one after seeing this video. Amazing quality and price. Imagine my disappointment when I found that Glarry would not support his bass by providing the special 25.5" scale strings it requires. When these get dull, there is no choice but to try to install longer scale strings that will sound poor on the short scale since they will be a lower tension than designed for. Glarry products are amazing, but consider this string issue before you buy this bass.
Saludos desde Argentina... excelente bajista Helen
WOW, THIS LITTLE KID ROCKS!!!! 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
SHE HAS A VERY BRIGHT FUTURE FOR A BASSIST
I started out my first bass 27 years ago my dad brought me home a gremlin short scale four string Bass. Keep this one the music store had local It was okay keep piece of crap but it was a good beginner bass. I've noticed Yamahas got good quality.
I dig that, i believe you can take almost Any sort of" Cheap bass (with in reason) that is somewhat solid and after checkin all aspects and th willingness to better it. (change P.ups etc ) & of course pro Set up , you turn (almost) any lower priced instr.into a performing, gigging Monster Just Sayin ,Enjoyed this VLOG See Ya soon ...
Cool bass Ellen, Looks in the style of a Warwick bass.
You can't fake Passion!!!
and when she giggles after she
"Gets"
Her newest riff.....
Priceless!!!!!;
I see Hellen's wardrobe in the background : no clothes, just bass guitars !

Oh,você vai chegar longe garota,é lindo ver isso,tão jovem , talentosa e dedicada. Beijos e parabéns. 👏👏👏👏👏
As a retired music educator/band director who has had a BUNCH of uber-talented students pass through my band rooms and private lessons, I would have LOVED to have Ellen as a student! She clearly has the gift of music in her DNA, and she is blessed to have arrived on the planet in the care of someone who is the best possible guide to shepherd her along her musical journey. Your best videos together are the lessons you're teaching her, evidence that she not only is gaining muscle memory every day in the scales, patterns and groves she's internalizing, but she knows WHAT THE NOTES ARE she's playing, she understands the theory! When They were handing out gifts before she got here, her Musical Angel made sure she had this incredible combination of fine motor skills, musical sense, superior intellect, and that great, fun and funny personality!! Wow!! I'm going to enjoy looking over your shoulders via your videos, hopefully for many years to come. It'll be great fun watching her grow musically. She's on a parallel track with Jackie Evancho, another musical prodigy who music lovers have watched from kidhood to adulthood. Rock On, Ellen!!
Thank God she is the future of bass players. Rock on \m/ .
She's very good, groovy, funky and bright kid, i'm your solid fan
I would like two of these.
She's quite the talent! Heck, she's already jammed with Steve Vai, so she's got most of us beat LOL. Ellen seems like she has a nurturing family that will keep her grounded and humble. I wish her great success.
Cheers!
That fits Ellen very well... sounds like $600+ looks great.
This bass makes a great bass sound.
Wow, i am amaze with this price..i wish i could buy just like that here in my country with a nice bass guitar but cheap for its price..
Very nice playing. great I can't even imagine.💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖👍👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯✔✔✔✔
".... a kid like me..." what a wonderful admission, from a truly delightful person (just wondering - think she'll make her school band?) 😄
Beautiful! Ah, if only I knew how to play bass!
As I’ve said before, this gift from God is nothing less than totally incredible!! Well done Ellen and huge congratulations to your dad who must be the best teacher in the world! God’s blessings and love to you both! Full of admiration, Adrian in Bermuda ❤️❤️❤️🌺🌺
Some of these cheaper basses can be surprisingly good quality. I have a Harley Benton Precision style bass and it is a lovely instrument for only £109. I would say though that with cheaper basses it is a good idea to upgrade the machine heads as they can have a problem staying in tune. I have seen very positive reviews of Glarry basses and so I will check them out, too.
I once went to a Rose Morris guitar and electric guitar retailer, in the heart of London, and bought the first Ibanez guitar I found that I wanted to buy..... It was advertised at five hundred dollars worth in British pounds... I bought it, and since I already had an amp, all I needed was complete, and I spent much time trying to learn to play guitar.... I was just starting out, and had no idea e how to play..... I used to spend time trying to learn from Metallica tablature, from books I bought in another store on the same street..... It's not the guitar- it's the guitarist..... The best guitarists were those who can play any guitar!!!!!!
I may have to get one of these for me? Yeah I’m 6’2” 230lbs but I’ve been a shredder for 35 years and I cannot stand a full scale bass so I too have been using a Mikro for my bass tracks. Ellen makes me feel like such a wimp lol 😂
Wow....such talent
I find the Harley Benton guitars have better quality than the glary brand and since there was Fx involved, we don't know what this guitar really sounds like. She's got good timing and hits the right notes. It will be interesting watching her grow as a musician.
Yep! She owned that bass. Played it like a Pro. Thanks to you both for the great video.
How can i get this Bass i'm looking for a good one.
It sounds nice and would like one like thT one.
Thank you!! God bless you!
I don't mean to sound negative, nut i can hear a slight difference in the sound, but when she started playing with the music it went away . I couldn't tell the difference. It's her Magic Fingers
And it looks good and sounds good.
I would have guessed around $300-400 USD range. I've heard good about Glarry but unfortunately you can't get them shipped to my country, at least that was the case last time I checked 3-4 years ago.
Very good!! Peace!! We need always!
I watch her and it makes me want to just sell all my Bass gear lol 😆 she is Great 👍
I like your bass doctor's T-shirt.
It‘s not the price, it‘s the player, that makes you dance.
Wonderful videos
Beautiful to see dad n daughter relationship
Have you tried Harley Benton ?
I think they're better cheap basses
25.5 is standard Fender scale, so this is a "short-scale" bass... swee-eet!
I guessed $200, which would be a good price, but $120?! 😲 Nice 👌
I can't keep back my tears of by enjoyments. Ellen's laugh is like rolling diamonds. I'm Hungarian so my English is far from perfect. Sorry.
Trop Cool!!
Yes everyone needs starting fluid like bass doctor
Danke!
I bought a trombone for my kid to play in high school, he did really well the first year with a rental, so I went ahead and bought one. It was $300. I guessed $400 for this bass, and I thought I was low.
Okay, the bass only cost $110, but then it requires a $200 visit to the luthier ("bass doctor). Not quite the bargain as advertised.
Love Ellen's facility for playing any instrument that is put into her hands.
Ellen you are very very perfect machine.
I was going to say she looks like she just went through a little growth spurt and looks a little older. I have a 10.5-year-old and I just noticed that on him too.. lol you guys rock 😎👍
You should get on Rick Beato's YT. I think he'd dig your playing and spirit.
Way back when I was 8 lol 😆 I have socks older than Ellen
You got the funk girl you good .the Bass is cool.
Ellen says this one is a little too small for her now... 🤣🤣😁🤣
Clary basses have 👍 nice wood 🪵 I had problems with the set ⬆️ , frets sometimes not best quality, I like fender, Ibanez, and Ltd ect
The look reminds me of a Warwick, Ellen, you and your Dad are a great team.. Way To Go Ellen!! Way To Go Dad!!
Wow! Super good price.
I don't know what I enjoy more, how great she plays or watching the joy of playing on her face.
Ellen is Adorable
Absolutely true I truly love match you play and enjoy your fantastic personality on camera you are such a joy to watch. You are adorable ♥️
Why choose, enjoy both! LOL She is hilarious. Even when Hovak teases her, she just laughs it off. Great kid, great father and great relationship they have!
Agree totally!
@@DrBeckyEm
AstroGirl! Dr. Becky?
"I know David. I get that a lot."
Anywhoo, .... Ellen is "Out of this World" Whatever.
Thanks to RUclips, We have the little Genie in a bottle. Did I misspell Genius?
So by the way, in my day, we only had 'Super 8'.
I wonder what happened to all that stuff. I guess the bulb burned out or something.
In any case, Modern parents can buy futuristic 3D gear that can do 180 degree 3D Virtual Reality recordings with a clunky Headset. Oh. Well .. we got Grandkid's. Maybe I should suggest that.
Have a Wonderful day, every non clunky Day! Bye!
Not only a star musician she is so personable and isn't camera shy in the least. Enjoy the climb Ellen!
Ellen's Subscriber count is going up fast. Keep an eye on it.
@TheSaintOfSundby Ellen is currently slightly above the Amazing Emily Linge who is about 15
@@davidmacphee3549 Possibly just "exposure". Both are very addictive/can't miss an installment of either.
@@robertakerman3570 I am glad you are subbed to both. We see them grow!
@@robertakerman3570 They are very different but very intelligent young girls. Exposure has a lot of variables with RUclips the Masters. It really is Apple's and Oranges.
However, they have both recently hit the 200K mark and have their YT Awards to proudly Show, and deserve tremendously.
There is no real contest. They are more like Sisters of the World. There is going to be a Snowball effect rolling down the mountain and going up exponentially as more and more people spread the joy these young can bring.
RUclips has many other Young Stars. Todays technology allows them to virtually meet and Jam together and they have made incredible Videos.
I've been playing bass for 47 years now, and I enjoy Ellen and her Dad's videos so much. I started playing at 17 and Ellen already plays rings around anything I could do at 17. This beautiful little girl has a very bright musical future ahead of her. Her Dad, who is an excellent musician in his own right, is guiding her beautifully every step of the way.
Hi Mike. Ms Ellen will always be a musician; though may become a Producer or work @ JPL. Time will tell; - Her greatness can not be stopped.
And the great thing about him (Hovak) is that he only provides guidance in the direction that Ellen wants to go. He never forces her to play, or move in a direction of his choosing.
I've also been playing that long . & concur with you , we can't touch Ellen who's been playing for 2 yrs What!?? I think we gotta hang it up. Hah..
@@glennrosa234 I’d rather just continue to play and admire Ellen’s gift. I know you were joking about giving it up anyway. Let’s face it, it’s in our blood and we probably couldn’t stop even if we wanted to. Ellen is a special case and a rare talent ♥️
Seriously the most adorable bassist, bar none! The progress you’ve made in only a year or so is unreal!
Her giggle is contagious!! Keep on playing!!
Don't forget her mother. She gave birth, to this little miracle. ❤
Mothers get enough credit. It's time for fathers to shine.
Oh my god hahahah can't give one away hahaha
I’ve worked with thousands of bass players over my career doing live sound this young lady is one of the cleanest players I’ve heard . If the bass player is not defining the notes you just can’t get a mix together . The lady already has the future planed I look forward to hearing you on many recording . Amazing
That piece really shows off Ellen's skill level. It's been fun watching her hard work pay off. She's so comfortable playing she can even straighten her hair without missing a beat.
She's a force that will dominate the music industry in 5 yrs. Keep it up girl...🤘
ABSOLUTELY 💯 % AGREE!!!
Uh I doubt that
@@FYMASMD Could swear I met you at a party.
@@FYMASMD I'm sure you doubt the world is round too, or something equally as unanimously debunked... 🙄
I simply love her enthusiasm when it comes to her craft. Hovak...you are a great father and mentor to Ellen. I pray I'm still around to see the next chapter in her career.
Well said!!
Amen! You can not teach "want to". Ellen, that is what drove me to learn, and is obviously what keeps you playing.
I remember what those wows felt like when I was your age. I am super happy for you and your family. Music has added greatly to the quality of my life. And I am sure it will to yours.
Great job! Keep it up.
It's not the instruments that makes the magic music, but the music in the player's heart.
She’s becoming a young legend in such a short time, and her dad must be proud to have a daughter like her
Not just her Dad, Her Mom to, And every one around her.
She's going places musically. Next, we will see her either as a session musician for BIG names, or as a replacement band member for a world-wide successful band (possible Metallica, lol).
Ellen always looks like she is having such a blast playing. That makes her so much fun to watch.
The bass sounds good, but Ellen makes it sound magical. I am totally entranced watching her fretwork and her picking. My fingers can't move that quickly just randomly drumming on my desk. Ellen, your playing has gotten so very good, but what makes you even more special is your smile while playing. Never lose that. Cheers from Wisconsin.
That touched me as well. Incredible little angel.
What I love about her is the smile she gives her daddy! They are an awesome team! Every child in the world deserves to have a daddy like hers!!!
Kiddo,you & The Dad are priceless. Luv U Guys!!!!🤙🏼🫵🏼🪨
This is absolutely incredible!!!
The journey has been absolutely beautiful!!!
