      Thanks FAB! Absolutely, I'm very pleased with this type of continued performance even after using the spray maintenance toppers. I would have expected a lot more weaker areas across the coated sections at this timeframe, but both have held up amazingly to this paint.

      @@WaxMode Man, looks like if you had an OCD type person who really looked after their car the proper way, used the recommended companion products such as RESET, used proper wash techniques, garage kept their vehicle, used a drying aide and good quality topper after every wash, they should (in theory anyway) be able to keep their ceramic coating going indefinitely. Just don't tell a pro-detailer that because they want you coming back every couple years at the latest to get a freshened up or brand new coating installed! That's moula-moula in their pockets! And with these ceramic coating installs, their pockets are getting deep, deep, deep, ooops, the pocket was so heavy with cash, it just ripped and all their dollars just fell on the ground. 👖👀😱

      @@WaxMode I wanted to ask when you used the hybrid ceramic detailer on the coating, did the the coating after a while go back to the state it was previously in showed in the video or did it keep the same hydrophobic properties until you put another topper on the coating. I am just a little bit confused on how it works, thank you.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Cheers Robert! Exactly, I'm really on my own personal quest here to narrow down the combos that I like the best, and Polish Angel on the coatings is really hitting the mark. It's tough because so many of these toppers have done a phenomenal job, Bead Maker earlier on was outstanding, the Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer to really refresh the coatings after that 6 month period of not washing the paint gave fantastic revival performance, BSD to turn it up another notch after that. Polish Angel is a really good balance of performance and application feel, and the tougher choice is probably picking between Rapidwaxx, High Gloss, and Cosmic Spritz.

    I'm at around the 1yr mark with CQUK 3.0 and have had the same results as you. I'm blown away by the durability/performance/staying power of coatings. What really amazes me is the fact that the paint stays "unclogged" for very long periods of time. What I mean by this is, in areas where the coating isn't performing like day 1, I can just top it with a spray sealant to revive the performance, and not only does it start performing like day 1 again, but it lasts a lot longer than if I had used a spray sealant alone on bare paint. In contrast to this, if I use a spray sealant or a wax alone on paint and then a few months down the line I reapply/top it, I don't quite get even performance throughout like I would had I just polished the paint. This is where coatings win for me! It's like the coating can be degraded, but as long as it's still there and you don't have TOO MUCH contamination on the surface, it acts as a foundation to make whatever you put on it perform at a very high level.
    Really looking forward to your future testing! Are you gonna throw that new hyped up ethos coating in there? I'm not one to give in to hype from people or from marketing departments, but that one seems pretty promising... Maybe a 3-6% improvement from the other coatings, who knows.

      Really appreciate the great feedback Andres, and it definitely looks like we're noticing identical behaviors with how the toppers have played on top of the coatings, really cool stuff to see this in action.
      I will definitely be throwing the new Ethos Graphene Matrix coating on the Honda, I've already started working with it this weekend on the test panel to get a feel for it, and I'll start doing some hydrophobic behavior observations after a bit of curing. Really looking forward to seeing how that coating holds up on this driver!

    Extending the durability of the coatings looks fun. I've been doing similar with Fusso coat this time around instead of letting it die out then having to go through the steps to reapply each year. So far meguiars QW and BSD have been bonding well. I'm still waiting on the day I switch over to proper coatings. Cquartz definitely would be my first choice.

      @JWL-UK 4 года назад +1

      Same here, Fusso + BSD as a topper/drying aid make a great combo. After 18 months/17K miles the car had virtually no contamination following an application of iron remover and didn't need claying either. A quick one step with a DA and the daily driver was ready for a new layer of Fusso Coat.

    OK bud, you've convinced me to up my game in the Polish Angel market. As you know, I'm a huge fan of Polish Angel. I just had to order some more Supersports for my wheels, and Diver for my glass, so I went ahead and ordered the 500 ml size Rapidwaxx too after watching your past couple videos where you showcase Rapidwaxx. I love the look of Carnauba wax on a car, and I usually use some sort of wax over my normal sealant, which currently is Master Sealant. Looking forward to Rapidwaxx over the sealant as my maintenance product. I'm sure they will pair well together since Rapidwaxx is pretty much made for that exact type application. I still haven't jumped over to the true ceramic coatings yet. I'm still using a good quality sealant (Polish Angel Master Sealant or Jescar Powerlock are my sealants of choice, topped with a high end carnauba wax, then maintained weekly with a good quality topper. QUESTION: Can Rapidwaxx also be used as a "drying aide" also on a wet surface or is it recommended dry application only? Another product I ordered from Polish Angel is their Glissante soap for my bucket wash after seeing Brian over at Apex Detail showcase Glissante which is super pricey for a wash soap but I wanted to try it. If I like it, i'll get the largest size offered next time. But with Glissante, directions say to put 30 ml into a bucket of 2 to 3 gallons of water. Well, as you see in the dilution ratio, if you buy a 200 ml bottle of Glissante, that pretty much gives you about 7 washes out of a bottle at their recommended dilution. Glissante is supposed to be their high end wash soap and has water softeners, high amounts of carnauba flake, and some other high end ingredients in it. Brian gave it a good review so I am definitely looking forward to seeing how it pairs with Rapidwaxx as my maintenance product and seeing if Glissante add's to the slickness of the Rapidwaxx topper. I couldn't remember if you also had done something with a Polish Angel wash soap or not in the past? I'll let you know how it works. They have a couple other wash products I may try also to see which one works the best. I think Glissante was at the top of the range for their wash soap. I know one was another Carnauba based soap, and one was more on the sealant based soap more specifically targeted at maintaining sealants like Cosmic V2 or Viking range but I think they are compatible with all the Polish Angel range of products. Great video. Not many (if any) RUclips Detailers go back, especially after 2.5 years and do a follow up review on durability of a product. In fact, I think you may probably have the record for the longest continuous test of a product on RUclips as far as detailing products go. I'm sure there have been others, but your test is CONTINUOUS and you keep us updated on durability and that only says a lot about the authenticity of what you are doing. Many RUclipsr's in the detailing field are just concerned with getting as many videos out as they can on as many different products or topics as they can. That kind of degrades their authenticity a bit. You are the real deal, and it shows in your videos. You truly have a passion for this stuff and I really appreciate your content. I have actually made more than one decision on whether or not to purchase a product based on your testing and recommendations. Rapidwaxx is one of those products. I was actually leaning towards Polish Angel "Red Opal" because it has red coloring infused into it. Basically it's Rapidwaxx with some sort of Red color (Says it works on all red shades) infused into the Rapidwaxx. Then they charge you considerably more for the product over what the normal Rapidwaxx cost's. I read the full description on Rapidwaxx and it says it works well with all colors! That made my mind up right there. Got the large Rapidwaxx for less than the small Red Opal. I doubt most people with an untrained eye would even notice the different between Red Opal and Rapidwaxx so I came to my senses and thought "Hmm....I get a lot more product with the Rapidwaxx". I'd rather have more product to enjoy using on my car. If I really like it, maybe i'll fork out the money for a small bottle of Red Opal next time and do a comparison to see if there actually is a noticable difference between the gloss and depth of clarity as well as color depth between the two products. I'm going to do a light decontamination, clay bar, iron removal soap from either TAC systems or CarPro, and then a light polish, prep spray with Kleen Strip Prep All, and re-application of Master Sealant. Then A Carnauba wax on top of Master, finally leading up to using Rapidwaxx. I'll then wash it with Glissante, and maintain it weekly with Rapidwaxx. I want to see how good it looks but i'm my instincts tell me anything, its going to look STELLAR! I'll send you a photo once i've used all the products up to that point and finally get o the. The final link in the chain is I bought a bottle of Pinnacle Rinseless Wash with Carnauba so when I do my rinseless wash in between it keeps with the theme of Carnauba based topper although there is only a very little bit in the solution, it's enough to give it a slickness and shine at least. At least that's the theory behind it.
    My entire Family lives down in Florida (Daytona Beach to St. Augustine area). I grew up down there but moved away . I come down there to visit from time to time. Next time I get down there, maybe I can stop by or we can meet up for lunch and meet each other. That way you can relate a face to whom your talking too. Before you jump in with rapid waxx, hear me out. Do two coats of Master Sealant and wait a month beofe rapid waxx treatments. And to answer your question above yes you can use rapid waxx as a drying aid. On a car with zero protection do two coats rapid waxx, one as a drying and and second after is dry and turns out Incredibly well. Also less is more and it takes very little product to do a car. There are some differences between the Carnuba Arts line and Rapid waxx is that the Carnuba Arts has a higher content of Carnuba 10% vs 5%, and it has more Ti02 and SiO2. The added color matches gives a wonder deep wet tone. Now if you really grow to love Rapid Waxx, Carnuba Art Gold Zircon is the biggwr badder brother of Rapid Waxx but the price does reflect.
      For me two coats of Master Sealant knocks it out of the park. After a few washes I start to do my toppers. Depending on how in feeling I may do High gloss or Carnuba Arts/rapid waxx. If I do wax I usually grab for the Gold Zircon because as I mentioned it's Rapid Waxx on steroids.
      Right now I'm currently with Cosmic V2 Glasscoat. I'm happy with every Polish Angel product I've tried, the hardest choice is which do I want to use this next time.
      *edit. I forgot about glissant. Its a Si02 wash for maintenance of protected vehicles. I just washed my glasscoat with it last week for the first works very well, and leaves and incredibly slick surface. I also have Flake the Carnuba wash, that I've yet to try but I will soon.

      @@Fuzz419 Thanks for the information, I love Master Sealant. I'll have to wait a month or so and see how the Rapidwaxx works out as the topper. Initially, I wasn't a fan of Rapidwaxx as I was probably using WAY too much. I'll have to cut back the amount and see if that helps. I like Glissante, it does a great job on the two-bucket wash. Not much foam (a little bit of suds), but I don't need a lot of suds since my car is very well maintained and doesn't get that dirty. Just a light dust on it before I wash it. Glissante is very slick and to me does a great job for me. I want to try Flake and Aqua too and i've got those on order. I'll make a judgment on which one of the three is the best and then continue to keep using that one. Overall, I love almost everything I have tried from Polish Angel. I especially like Master Sealant, DIVER, and Supersports. Those three are my favorites.

    Great comparisons. Based on your channel I went with CQuartz UK 3.0.Applied 2 coats and topped with Reload as it came in the kit.
    First time with ceramics and I'm absolutely blown away with how much better with regards to slickness, hydro properties, and color than any wax or synthetic sealant used although it's only day 2... Based on your experience and tests which of the maintenance products performs best over UK 3.0 if a doing a reset wash when required? I've read that Reload (not surer about the latest) isn't the greatest and perhaps Merlin's Majic Elixer my be a better combo. I'd consider Rapidwaxx although sticking with si02 products would be my preference.
    Should a person stay with CarPro over CarPro?
    For shorter term the Megs Hybrid ceramic spray sealant is quite impressive considering the price.
    Once again, awesome content.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  3 года назад

      Thanks! Reload is hit or miss with a lot of paint out there, sometimes it smears and sometimes it just goes over fine. For me it’s a bit heavy for weekly usage, and the same with Elixir, although both are paired to work with CQuartz, the coating really doesn’t need products that are that heavy to get the job done. The only time I would think about using either is when CQUK really starts fading which could go beyond a year.
      P&S Bead Maker was a phenomenal topper for CQUK on my paint, lighter than both Reload and Elixir while enhancing slickness and good for monthly maintenance. I’m not much of an Elixir fan because I find it’s more likely to drop hydrophobic performance compared to Reload or lighter options like Bead Maker.

      Hey Codriver72! Gyeon One is absolutely a very capable paint coating. I was close to 1 year of durability on it before polishing it off to test other products, and it was still performing great at that timeframe. My issue with Gyeon One was it gave me very poor wipeability, much worse than CQUK 3.0, Gyeon Prime, CanCoat, etc. So it was not the user-friendly coating that I had hoped for it to be, but the performance certainly held up. I prefer CQUK 3.0 over it in terms of a bit better hydrophobic performance, but with regular maintenance it will hold up well.

    So do think a spray SIO2 topper on a ceramic coating is better then say using say the Polish Angel Rapidwaxx or their High Gloss ? Wax topper on SI02 based coating or a wax ?

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      It's tough to say, Bead Maker and the Meguiar's Ultimate sprays are some that were not SiO2 based that still played really well on the coatings, Bead Maker was perhaps the biggest surprised because some have seen issues with this reducing coating performance but for me it did the opposite, it boosted the CQuartz TiO2 coating, and across the board Bead Maker was fantastic on all the coatings I've tested it on after about 6 months of them being on the paint.
      The carnauba content in Rapidwaxx is still relatively low, they list about 5% on their website, but looking at the MSDS sheets for Rapidwaxx and Cosmic Spritz they both list SiO2 and TiO2 content. Under 35% of SiO2 and TiO2 for Cosmic Spritz, and under 30% of both for Rapidwaxx, so they're similar in composition. Would be interesting to test the Cosmic Spritz on top of the CQUK and the High Gloss on top of the CQuartz TiO2 side by side!
      The only times I ran into problems on the coatings is when I tried topping them with the heavier less hydrophobic spray protectants like Ice Seal N Shine and Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating. They'll be heavy enough to mask the higher hydrophobic behavior of the base coating but eventually they'll wear off and you can top with a different topper and get the nice water behavior back.

      I have not tried Gliss on top of the coatings, and that's really because I never felt a need to with how well the spray toppers were able to prolong its awesome hydrophobic performance. Gliss V2 is a very stout topper though, and you can get really good performance out of just Gliss by itself. It struggled when I didn't wash the car for 6 months but some sections of Gliss held up well, so there's no doubt the CQUK + Gliss V2 would be an awesome combination.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      When I top the fenders that aren't coated, and top the EXOv4/Gliss V2 sections that are much more weathered than the CQUK/CQuartz sections with these same toppers, the toppers don't hold up to anywhere near the same extent during the next wash as they do on top of the healthier CQUK/CQuartz/Blackfire Pro Ceramic sections.
      So I use these other sections to baseline my results to make sure it's the health of the base layer coating that is the reason why the hydrophobic performance stays so strong during this next wash.

      Amazed same I heard jezcar has amazing slickness and application but lacks long term performance, I was thinking Hi temp and Collinite 845 and maintaining with Griots quick wax

      Thanks Gunnar! I still really like the Power Lock grouping of sealants as the base protectant. Power Lock, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0, McKee's 37 Hi-Def Paint Sealant, Pinnacle Liquid Souveran Wax, all of these have truly addicting slickness and are unmatched in ease of use for the application and buffing. If I can find something that is as easy to work with and as slick as Power Lock, while showcasing an insane amount of hydrophobic performance, that would be my next recommended sealant.
      I like using one of those types and then experimenting with different spray toppers for maintenance, and many toppers will work well on those sealants. Polish Angel Rapidwaxx/High Gloss/Cosmic Spritz have easily become some of my absolute favorites. I still really like Ultimate Quik Wax, the new Hybrid Ceramic Detailer is another great option, Bead Maker used regularly is fun to use, Ice Spray Wax I've gotten great durability out of this as a topper when I was testing it years ago. I still really like the Opti-Seal style of protectants, so that includes Wolfgang Liquid Seal, Blackfire Crystal Seal, and Meguiar's Ultimate Fast Finish.
      It's been a while since I used a dedicated sealant and paste wax combination, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 and Fuzion Paste Wax was one of my favorite sealant wax combos back in the day. If I want the crazy hydrophobics and durability, I'm going to go with the coatings like CQuartz, but the sealants and waxes still have a home in the arsenal and are much more fun to apply and work with compared to the coatings for me.

    Great video. Can I use polishangel high gloss as a topper for polishangel master sealant?

      I still haven't picked up Master Sealant, but absolutely I've heard feedback from guys on the forum that have run the combo with High Gloss on top with great results. The Polish Angel sprays across the board are pretty much universal toppers for everything, I haven't found something that doesn't like to be topped with Polish Angel yet.

      I have used the extreme solutions poly seal, with polish angel high gloss as a topper and it worked amazingly well.

    A top over a coating... You're not seeing the coat.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      This has not been the case in my tests. The topper's ability to perform after a month of not washing is directly related to the strength of the coating underneath. That's why the top door section of the CQuartz topped with Rapidwaxx is not as consistent as the rest of the door, or as healthy as the CQUK section, because the CQuartz coating underneath has degraded and is not providing the best surface for the Rapidwaxx to attach as effectively.
      This is also more clear as I top the other sections of the car that are weaker or uncoated, using the same toppers that I applied to the coatings. They are all different water behaviors dependent on the health of the base layer protectant or coating. Take a look at my Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer video were I cover this in more detail.

      Once you get beyond a year of durability, the coatings really need some sort of topper to clean up contamination and rejuvenate the hydrophobic performance back up. Some of my earlier videos I showcased how these held up without being maintained.
