This reminds me so much growing up in Wisconsin but living out in my log cabin I built with my wife and four kids hunting and living in the woods scouting and tracking deer outside of Mosinee it was a good life when the kids were small and the wife was still home and hadn't run away so many times I miss it this is an eye-opener! I lived all over Wisconsin and hunted and even sold out my Homestead in the leather camps and move to the up mich Wilderness and live for 8 years off grid traveling back and forth to my Homestead up Brushy Creek outside of Calico Rock Arkansas on Lake Norfolk. I've got a busted back a spinal cord injury I slowed down a little bit at 67 years and abandoned for 14 years😢 but these videos are inspiring me to get back to bow hunting! but it's going to mean an awful lot of work and I got no help whatsoever 😢to drag deer to lift them and hoist them ,always alone,, I got no help whatsoever in this small Ozark town. been here for 13 years and don't have a buddy I can rely on😢or trust ! What ever hapend!
videos like this really help me refine my scouting work. At nearly 50 years old, it does get harder to find the depth of hunting/scouting videos you can really still learn from.
I took a friend duck hunting on a small backwoods lake for wood ducks. He's a smoker which is fine. But I'm sitting in the blind and I see a cigarette butt floating by. Last time I ever invited him out.
I went through a new property the other day wet cedar swamp with tangles, every high spot with a chair size and table size mound had bed under every cedar, funny I know how and what I’m looking for watching you changed my way of hunting scouting dramatically that spot had both fall and wintering activity, I still could figure out what spots the bucks liked by hysterical rub sign and the new rubs looking forward to this new piece , just wanna say a big thanks for changing my vision on learning and still learn the land.
I’m just now after 5 years of relentless hunting figured out the black tail action… got my fork at 12 yards archery. Oregon is no joke on the creek bottoms. I plan on using the tree saddle for the 5 by 6
I do admit to throwing out apple cores and banana peals. Everything else is litter. Especially shotgun shells. Shotgun shells are a great way to turn non-hunters into anti-hunters.
Yep. If it's biodegradable then OK. Cig filters and plastic shells are definitely trash that take forever to break down. If only all hunters respected the woods...
@ajdrew252 as a hunter and a smoker my wife hates doing my laundry ive been cussed a few times for butt's in my pocket......trash gives away location and that's a bad thing for serious hunters
Awesome video, this is actually one of the best scouting videos I've seen from you guys. Very informative. Excellent work Thank you for making me a better hunter
Dang Dan that mustache is on point dude. I'm working on mine but I doubt something like yours is even close to obtainable for me. Two thumbs up man. I wish you'd make a couple videos on how you are able to get your mustache to that point.i really think that if you keep growing it, there's a good chance you will get a world class buck this year.
Haha. I walked 2.3 miles into a turkey spot this morning. Got in there well before daylight. By 8 AM there was three more hunters and 3 ladies walking their dogs. On a freakin' Tuesday.
We have used cigarettes to wind bump deer, I'm a smoker but American spirts gives smell proof bags out and I carry those when I hunt and fish so I don't leave my butts. But I rarely smoke while deer hunting unless I shoot something or my hunt goes to crap.
Support from Southern Indiana. I smoke still at 43 years old and just like everyone else I started because it was cool but I hate everything about them including the handful of nasty cig butts I pull out of my pockets at the end of the day. I don’t smoke in my house so I have to empty them in the outside trash. I have been putting the butts in my pockets for at least 15 years so it a habit and I do it even when I’m somewhere where they throw them in their yard and they tell me to just throw them out there and I refuse. I hate the taste and the smell and the $9 and change per pack each day as well. Grrrrrrr.
This vid really gave me the a ha moment when you got onto that soft edge by the tamarack bog. Also seems like a deadly duo in the later part of the vid, Dan and his protégé 👍. Btw why don't you guys rock the tidewe hip boots? I go everywhere in mine now, never get wet lol
Dan I really needed to hear and see this. I met you and the crew in Columbus. I’ve been scouting, but the pieces of the puzzle aren’t coming together for me yet. I’m struggling with reading the sign I have found. Green up is happening fast and I’m not feeling confident in my scouting so far.
I a long time smoker and from the start I decided to use a earth scent wafer canister to put all my asses and coherent butts in and carry it all out with me , when I get through with a smoke I just pop the top back on and it seals the odor off really well just a tip to others with the same bad habit and always leave the area like it was before I ever got there!!!
I don't smoke when I'm in the woods in the few times that I did the cigarette butts went in a bottle I had with me and went back out just like any other trash I might have
I don't smoke but I think it's disgusting that someone would leave 40 cigarette butts in one spot he must have been there multiple times littering the woods

That damn dog barking would drive me crazy. I know it wouldn’t bother the deer but it would me.

You guys are awesome for recognizing and addressing litter issues. Great video 💯

Same here, feeding the raccoons or the insects.

Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I learn a great deal.
In my opinion, the best 👌
Awesome video, this is actually one of the best scouting videos I've seen from you guys. Very informative. Excellent work
Thank you for making me a better hunter
Coolest shirt almost ever! God Bless you and yer's Dan.
We love natural blinds made out of branches, logs and blow downs. They work great.
Good stuff Dan can’t wait to see a couple hunts in there.
😂😂 it’s great watching him hold on to twigs like a life preserver
Keep adding to the "plan"....makes hunting more fun when there is confidence involved
Wish we had good deer hunting in upper peninsula Michigan
Dan wearing the perfect camouflage!
Great video, guys! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Dan for sharing this info!
Great video.
Great video guys! Keep up the great work.
Can't wait to see what happens there this fall for you.
Was great to get to scout with you Dan! I look forward to us putting a smack down on a buck here this year 👊🏼

What them ladies look like
@@samhart1971 typical trio. One good, one a lil chunky, one got hit with the ugly stick.
Love that shirt 😂
When I was a smoker, I would bring small Gatorade bottles for cig butts. They stink so bad
Always leave it cleaner than when i came in. Buts always went into pockets and taken out

Love these scouting videos they really help me look for similar spots in my neck of the woods. Thanks Dan
Good stuff fellas, good stuff!! 👊🏼
Everytime Dan crosses a creek , I hope he gets wet ! Everytime. 😆
@dan infant . Ever set up in a large white pine? Fall/winter still has needles for cover.
Don't smoke!!! Great job!
I’m wondering. Even with muck boots on do you usually get wet feet anyways?

Nasty lol
At about 28 minutes is that a historical rub with a really high rub above it?

@@thehuntingbeast Ah, good to know. 👍
Thank you! I think we’ll make a good duo as well👊🏼
@@thehuntingbeast i thought you liked tidewe? I bought some rangefinders cause i thought you suggested 😂
U got my attention after u said bass fishing
Lower pressure seems to be more important than terrain, always changing, impossible to get the jump on it for too long & that's part of the draw.
That property is full of interior transitions.

Don't give away all our secrets
GOT A FEELING DAN WAS A BUCK DEER IN HIS PAST LIFE.
Dans mustache kills mature bucks too , it has its own line of tree stands too
From the sign that your point out, I can tell there's going to be a serial killer in that area!! You might want to use caution.
Backyard hunt ,nice
Dan, is this where you shot your Wisconsin buck this year?
no
Dan what are you weighing in now a days?
Right now im 215... 190 would be ideal
Get out of my blind!! Lol 😂
Inspiring!
fitlers form cigs are fiberglass therefore it is not bio degradable so yeah that sick to do lol.
After the fun part is over and the work starts …How the heck do you get a buck out of a floating bog??
I use a sled and pull...
Parking lots are HOT now, lol UTUBERS are telling us
Dan, I sent an email but haven’t heard back about you signing one of your hats from the store if I purchase it from the website.
Send Rick a message and he will make it happen.
@@thehuntingbeast Thank you very much. I’ll have to figure out how to reach him. I have no social media platforms.
@@WVChad Should be a spot for a not when you purchase... Just say "Ricky, please have Dan sign the hat!"

gotta slow the camera movement down but great video
I don't smoke when I'm in the woods in the few times that I did the cigarette butts went in a bottle I had with me and went back out just like any other trash I might have
your doing what I do , cool
I smoke but not in the woods and not when I'm hunting
Dan, did You or Rick ever kill a buck on that ground you did video of 2 yrs ago? The one with the star fish..lol
No. But we had a close call with a good one.
I don't smoke but I think it's disgusting that someone would leave 40 cigarette butts in one spot he must have been there multiple times littering the woods
Lots of milkweed
What kind of boots are you wearing?
Gumleaf USA (10% discount using code: BEAST)
It's litter same with spent shot gun she'll.
On the other hand toilet paper is biodegradable 😊
36:28 was that a frog croak? Lol
Cigarette is the smoker, you’re just the sucker!
I'm a smoker and I do not leave my butts all over
I dont smoke. Its absolutely disgusting how people think its ok to throw their trash in the woods
What’s up with the dogs???? 😂
There was some private ground across the river from us.
Leave my blind alone
Bucks will travel a path of least resistance.
I put my cigarette butts in a empty earth scent wafer container and ashes and close the lid to contain the scent.
I'm a smoker and that's not what I do take them out it's not hard lol and I sure don't smoke a pack during a sit
😂
Dan showing off how high he can count
So I take it a deer will shit in it's bed and lay in it? Like a cow.
Cigarette smokers are disgusting. I can’t stand cigarette butts on the ground anywhere especially in the woods.
Don't takem in
