Reveil PS5 Review - A P.T. Like Game That Is Worth A Look

We live in a post P.T. world where you’re never more than a stone’s throw away from a first-person psychological horror game that owes its existence to the brilliant playable teaser, and Reveil has now joined that ever-growing list.
Owing to the crowded nature of the genre it’s in, as well as how it chooses to execute on some of its own ideas, Reveil is inherently a game that feels overly familiar to its detriment at times, while it’s also let down by a lack of genuine scares and poor writing and voice acting. But with solid art design, surreal environments, strong atmosphere, and some genuinely fun puzzles and small gameplay interactions, it does still manage to deliver an experience with its fair share of strengths.

Visage is the absolute scariest game I’ve ever played. I’d take anything that is just more of visage.

Same, aside from Madison & Alien: Isolation, nothing has come close to scratching my horror itch like Visage did. Even RE:7 left me feeling a bit disappointed.
On that note, play Madison if you have not.

@@Xfacta12482 played it. If I had played it prior to visage I would have needed diapers. Playing it afterward I’ll admit it was scary, but less so than visage and less polished. Isolation was amazing! Re7 was my previous high, but that was in 2017 since I played it at launch. I really enjoyed outlast 2 as well

A bit harsh. There’s at least a few things that look good in this.
You don’t have to play them… I’m sure there are still plenty of games releasing in genres you enjoy.

seem to have very nice atmosphere but for me at least these walking simulators just feel very slow and i tend to lose interest fairly quick :(

As a guy who was for Xbox ever since 360, PS5 is honestly so much more worth it, man. It's way too clean and actually feels like a very substantial upgrade. Having a 4k or better TV makes it feel even greater. Xbox Game Pass is very nice, but Playstation exclusives from PS4/5 are incredible. I never had PS4, so getting to play games like Bloodborne/Spider-Man was pretty amazing.

PS5 not worth it (yet at least)
I’ve been PS since original PlayStation there’s always been a reason to buy their new hardware except for this current generation unfortunately
If you want an new Xbox then go with that tho

I was keeping an eye on this but not looking like instant buy. Graphics do look great with the volumetric lighting but otherwise the art direction is a bit of a letdown as environments and props look quite generic. Story revolving around a dream and shattered happy family are making my eyes roll. Also writing, voice acting and puzzles would need to be spot on for this type of experience to land.

Well if you don’t seem to be wanting to get it then I’ll tell you the spoilers. This whole family past trauma thing is fake. The main character is actually in a simulation and they’re a test subject being experimented on by scientists who are trying to fabricate people’s memories and implanting them into their brains. You aren’t the only test subject in the game.

That one clip where you used it to demonstrate Walter's voice acting, that sounded fine. How else would an owner act to a machine that's constantly breaking down? Get angry and throw a fit? Nah, they'll take it in stride like the voice actor did in the clip you presented
