What I'm liking so far about this game is no stupid gimmicks such as forced motion controls or the party car, something we haven't had in an original home console game since Mario Party 7
The skeleton key looks like it's gonna be exclusive to Western Land, same with the Turbo Dice for Roll Em Raceway, so im assuming each board has its own specific item, so if i had the guess Goomba Lagoons is the seashell we see on the box art
There's always the potential they made them worse though! I don't think they will be, but I did think Space Land in Superstars was kind of a downgrade from the OG version, so who knows?
Theres a lot of potential with this one but, it doesn't look like it'll be the best because wheres the mario party 6 day and night cycle style of boards lol but honestly im keeping an open mind on this, i always hope the developers look at how the community reacted to the previous entries and learn from it but we all know that doesn't always happen, lets just hope the economy isn't super crazy and honestly Goomba lagoon give off a gamecube era mario party style of board. Im hoping it gives a classic feel while obviously being new. Im also ready for that 40 min long video next. Keep up that good work on the vids! :)
Next vid will be a beast. Probably gonna take a couple weeks to do that one since it's essentially twice as long as this one, but I'm really looking forward to getting it out!
Your concerns are valid. I would have preferred it if the game was called Mario Party Jamboree rather than with the Super part included. Mario Party 8 did have some fun motion-control minigames like Speedy Graffiti, At the Chomp Wash, Treacherous Tightrope, and more. However, I would rather have them be a side mode like the Extra Mode in Mario Party 8 than part of the main game. The game's description did say they're unavailable online, so there's at least an option not to have them be part of the main board play. With Bowser, as much as I adore Bowser, he's better off as a board mechanic. It isn't like DK, where he's one of the original six characters from the first Mario Party, and DK spaces function the same as coin minigames, so there's that. Bowser's purpose is to mess up your game; he's the game's antagonist you actually fear because of what he would do. It isn't the same with Kamek. With Jamboree, that form is called King Bowser. The projection was definitely created with Kamek's magic to give the feeling of Bowser while having him as a playable character because we see Bowser playable in King Bowser's Keep and Mario's Rainbow Castle. There could be some fun dialogue between the two Bowsers when Bowser lands in his own space, but yeah, it's weird. Mario Party isn't the same without Chance Time or the Boo mechanic. Messing with other players to advance your game, sounds cruel, but it makes it fun at the same time. I've played Mario Party 8, and while I like it, I'll say that the game could have used some of that classic Mario Party energy to make it more engaging during the board play. I do feel you're a bit nitpicky with the Boo though because if you played Paper Mario, you have Goomba and Koopa partners hitting their own species, so yeah. However, I'm with you. We should keep our expectations in check until we see more of the game, but I hope the game's good overall. Sorry for the long comment, but I'm passionate about Mario Party.
Honestly I get where you’re coming from, I’m just being cautiously optimistic since like you said we don’t know much yet. I can say that it’s definitely looking like a step up from super Mario party, and I’m hoping them revisiting old boards with superstars made them understand what it is we like about those boards and incorporate those elements into the next game
@@shakhaninja And I had been saying since Super they needed to remake some of the older games to figure out what made them so great, and I’m hoping it worked!! I will definitely agree this looks better than Super, but it’s also not hard to beat the worst home console Mario Party game lol
About 3 seconds before the mario party trailer came out while i was watching the direct i thought, "I wonder if were gonna get a new mario party." And i immediately jumped up when i saw it. Edit: I agree with how the Bowser thing is kinda stupid but disagree with Boo. I know it's weird for Boo to steal from Boo but like you said there are multiple boo's so it's not like he's stealing from himself.
I don’t know if this will be the best, but I am extremely hopeful for Jamboree because everything they have shown just seems on point. I wasn’t really there for Super, but imagine all the hype was just for the fact they got rid of the car. This game seems hype because they’re keeping all the foundations from Superstars and seemingly not doing things that people disliked from Super. That and the boards look really good, more in-line with classic board design, and have interesting new mechanics or gimmicks. Although Superstars wasn’t new boards, I feel like they made a ton of really good changes that improved the boards, and feels like they have a way better grasp on what makes a fun board now. Really, my only concern is the item system, but I’m a little hopeful there. Really need to see gameplay, but I’m overall really excited.
I will say right now I'm cautiously optimistic. There's a lot of good signs, but I also know NDCube has never made a new, great traditional Mario Party game.
@@NinToaster_9 They could! I’m not arguing they can’t or that they definitely won’t. I’m arguing that while I admit this game could be great, it COULD be bad and saying why everyone needs to stop claiming this game is great when that is still TBD. HOPEFULLY it will be good. There are SIGNS it COULD be good. Telling people to not buy Superstars but just wait to buy this game because it will be the best ever is silly lol
Idea for a mario party; the characters you pick change what happens on spaces IE You pass play as Boo your immune to stealing but you can only get stars from stealing because the host is scared of you. Bowser lands on a Bowser space and something good happens and if he's on a good luck space the opposite. Toad/Rosalina/Toadette/DK can get two stars when they get the star space but for 50 coins.
@@KingGisInDaHouse Not a fan. That goes back to the same issue I had with character dice where you will more likely choose a character based on what their best ability is. I want characters in all these games to be completely even. Nothing special about any of them. Smash Bros is the only exception because it would be weird if they all had the same move set lol
Edit: I want to add one thing on to my comment- I totally understand and respect your cautious optimism. I myself felt and still feel that way in regards to Mario RPGs moving forward. Between TTYD remake and Mario and Luigi Brothership, everyone is treating it like Paper Mario and Mario RPGs as a whole are back and we have zero chance of them making them in a way we don’t like again. But there’s every chance Paper Mario 7 is another Paper gimmick game with ANOTHER overhauled gameplay system. We just can’t know and shouldn’t just assume things will be awesome again. But for Mario Party Jamboree, this game is a known commodity and it looks pretty good. So while I do ere on the side of caution most of the time, I’m a bit more on the optimistic side for Jamboree. But still, I can respect and understand your view on the matter, I just feel like it leans too much on the caution over the optimism for reasons I cover later. I mean, I’m not out here claiming this will be the best Mario Party, but I’m just looking forward to Jamboree because it looks fun. I’ve played every Mario Party and enjoyed each one to varying degrees. Sure, something like Super wasn’t quite the return to form we wanted, but I still hold it was a step in the right direction. And the game genuinely looks to me like they’ve learned from past mistakes for the board design. Like, sure, Rainbow Galleria has a flash sale, but boards have played with how you obtain stars, and this looks like how old boards, especially in the GameCube era, played around with how you obtain stars. Like, Faire Square would have you buying stars in bulk, and sometimes they go as cheap as 5 coins or as expensive as 40. So a mechanic like the flash sale feels like classic Mario Party. And the board design in general looks like classic Mario Party, with Bowser Spaces, Chance Time, event spaces that will no doubt be good and bad, Boo, and so on. And the side mode stuff isn’t taking away from having a good amount of content in the main board gameplay. We have the Koopathlon, Rhythm games, co-op games, what looks like boss battles, and yet we’re still gonna have a decent amount of stuff for the regular party gameplay with a good number of boards, presumably a good number of mini games, and it looks like it’s taking after the classic board design. The one thing I’m pretty confident in saying is this will be a good Mario Party. Even if I enjoy stuff like 9, 10, or Super, I can admit where they were flawed. And I can’t say for certain this game will be the best ever. But everything I’ve seen so far looks really good to me, like it’s taking the best aspects of Super Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars while leaving out things people didn’t like. And yeah, maybe there will be bad aspects to good boards… but that’s just video game design, my dude. No matter how much I love a game, bad design choices just happen and we can’t let that rule our perception of the game. I’m looking forward to Super Mario Party Jamboree, because it looks fun, plain and simple.
@@wootmasterzorsx I will agree that I also enjoy each Mario Party game to at least some degree. Like, I shit on Super all the time because it’s the worst home console Mario Party game… but it’s not unplayable. It’s not so bad I sold it and never played it again. I would just much rather play any Mario Party game than that, but I will still play it. So, I expect the same can be said for Jamboree. Even if they bring back reverse mushrooms, change chance time to some new weird button mashing game, demonstrate that they still can’t make good brand new boards, and overall just make me wish someone else was developing these games… odds are I will at least enjoyment, even if it’s just a bunch of content that’s more about quantity than quality like another weak entry in the series (shoutout to MP5!), theres a very low chance I will hate it so much I will get rid of it. And again, this game could be great. The fact they are doing a lot of stuff that resembles Superstars gives me hope… but considering NDCube has never made a brand new traditional Mario Party game that was good, they still have to prove to me that they can, and hopefully Jamboree is the proof… but none of us will know until Oct.
@@NinToaster_9 Maybe. Maybe it last 3 turns and alternates like the day/night cycle in MP6. Maybe it easily activates and most games will have a flash sale for half the turns. It’s completely unknown at this point.
@@Sakuma_Saikoro_DiceKun In that specific instance it appears to be 1 turn, BUT we don’t know what triggers it and if it’s a different turn mount depending on an unknown variable. For example, Jungle Jam from MP4 just randomly selects 1-3 turns to flood the map. So, will it always be 1 turn, or will it vary?
@@nintendoboy3605 Well, you can still learn and make bad content. Like, let’s not act like every traditional Mario Party game was fantastic, or all the old boards are fantastic. Even during the Hudson Soft era, bad Mario Parties and bad boards were made, so even if this game does closely resemble that era, they could still make a bad game. That’s not to say they WILL make a bad game. I think this game has potential, and I just wish that’s what everyone would say instead of claiming it’s great and Mario Party is BACK and this is clearly going to be the best lol
Mario Party Superstars had the potential to be the best Mario Party Game but NDcube blew it I hope they learned from their mistakes but it's NDcube so I remain sceptical. Personally I'm not a big fan of the new boards because it looks kinda samey, like where is the Ice themed board? At least we got a Bowser Board so that's something I guess
@@plateosaurus6263 I still think Superstars is the best… but they still completely dropped the ball…. I’m a mix of optimistic and skeptical. I don’t really think these boards look samey. Are you saying that because they’re more like traditional Mario Party where most boards are star locations rotating?
@@TheCinemaSimpelton Super not getting DLC was a great call. Between not being able to play it on the Switch lite, having to make a board twice for both modes, and the fact it wasn’t received well, that game definitely shouldn’t have gotten DLC. Superstars easily should have gotten DLC. You just pick some old boards to remake and sell them. You’re practically printing money lol Jamboree is going to be released on a system that’s about to get released. I highly doubt it will get DLC. I’m surprised they even released it in a console that will be dead in a year considering Mario Party has legs and sells for years and years. It’s not like Super made 20 million over night. It took them 3 years to get to a little over half of that.
It looks to be a really good Mario Party. Not sure if it's going be the best one though. I like how they made Bowser both a playable character and part of the Boards, so you gets the best of both worlds.
@@Mymy_64 If they made the playable version of Bowser the fake one, I might agree with you. And yeah, Jamboree has potential, but we shall see. NDCube has never made a good traditional Mario Party, so this will be a first time if it is good!
@@ItsKevRA If they use the fake one, then you're not really playing as Bowser. It makes more sense to use the actual character in play then an imitation that would look weird compare to the other characters.
@@ItsKevRA Well, Superstars was basically a remix of past Mario Party games (specifically the N64 ones), and the previous MP games prior to Superstars had missed potential. Hopefully Jamboree can break this pattern, especially with the massive selections and new game modes. Still have fingers crossed 🤞
The worst? I don’t know if I agree on that one. Super Mario Party wasn’t that great, but it definitely was better than Mario Party’s 9 or 10 or as I like to call it “Car Crap except Bowser Party” saga.
@@andytekampe8748 Those games are good for what they are. Is traditional Mario Party better? Absolutely! Which is why the majority of Mario Party games are better than Cario Party, but there’s a couple of games that legit aren’t good when it comes to traditional Mario Party, including Super… although you could argue even that isn’t traditional. It’s fucking Mario Party Jr and imo by far the worst, at least when it comes to home console. I will admit Island Tour is even worse, but I also have zero desire to play multiplayer games on a tiny screen. It’s the difference between “Hey, this is a new concept and fine for what it is.” which is Cario Party, and “Let’s take traditional Mario Party and butcher the fuck out of it so it’s a far worse version of what people love.” and that’s Super Mario Party 😀
@@ItsKevRA I guess I see your point but I remember not even enjoying Mp9 for a second. I was like “What the fuck is this? Why are we all stuck moving as a unit? This so dumb and hugely RNG. I mean you could say Mario Party itself is RNG, but not nearly as bad as that stupid freaking car. At least Super I can say I had genuine fun with friends and family. Though I will admit Bowser Party was awesome. Bring back the car solely for that mode and I’ll be stoked. I do see what you mean though. They tried to do traditional and butchered it. I can agree with that. Jamboree looks super promising though. My excitement is through the roof! So far it appears to be fixing all that was wrong with Super.
@@andytekampe8748 Yeah, my biggest thing is that NDCube has never made a good traditional Mario Party board, so while I am hopeful in the direction they are going, they have yet to prove to me that they can make great boards. Like, I enjoyed MP9’s boards, but it was an entirely different kind of Mario Party. Also, I understand what you mean about not enjoying MP9. When my friend and I first played it, we hated it. It was so bizarre and unlike the Mario Party games we played before, but after a few rounds, we got into it. It is more luck based, but I’m okay with that. Because of that, it doesn’t beat traditional Mario Party, but it’s more casual fun and it feels like it admits it’s for more luck based… unlike Super where it feels like they try to mask traditional Mario Party that’s typically a hybrid of luck, strategy and skill, over completely luck based by making everything so cheap that coins almost don’t fucking matter, a broken ally system that makes you super OP the more you get, and some of the worst boards in the series. I would only tell someone to get this game if it was at least half off, and I still don’t really think that price is worth it lol
@@ItsKevRA Again, I do see your point. And I only tried 9 once at a friend’s house so maybe I’d like it more, but I doubt it. I actually bought 10 and while it was fun for what it was (since I just wanted to have a Mario Party on my Wii U and had fun playing the game on my brother’s when he brought it over one time) I got into that one. But even then I’ll say the party mode was kind of just blah to me. Bowser Party was a blast though. Though it was really dumb it only had 3 boards for it when the main party had like 5 or 6 or something. Why? But yeah I see your points for Super, I honestly do. I did have fun playing it with friends though but yes it was absolutely flawed and I will also say rigged because allies were absolutely broken and you’d win almost every game if you got them. Sometimes you’d be unlucky and have them taken from you, but usually if you got or two it was over. And while I creative idea at the time, the character dice thing was so dumb. It made me feel so limited with who I could play as. I was so excited to play as Diddy Kong for the first time in a Mario Party (didn’t try Island), but I didn’t really like his dice so I barely used the poor guy. And your whole analysis on Bowser was so true! I don’t agree I was annoyed he was playable as I do really like Bowser and that was cool to see him join, but it was just awkward and mundane seeing Kamek every time you landed on something bad. It felt like when Bowser Jr comes in for Mario Party 4, but even worse because it would only be just a lame toned down villain like Kamek. Bowser was always such a show and entertainment and even fear whenever you landed on him. I absolutely agree it was a huge strain on Super with them taking that approach. Here’s hoping Jamboree gives us that same level of presentation for Bowser spaces we know and love. Even if he is just a Bowser made of magic dust, if he still talks and says things like Bowser would and is intimidating that’s enough for me. I want to experience the show like old times.
@@andytekampe8748 I will admit that the main Mario Party mode in MP10 is soooo much worse than MP9. The boards just suck in MP10, and it feels like they had the same issue as Super where they were almost kind of designed more for Bowser Party, because they were a lot better in that mode. So, I would definitely say give 9 a try. Again, it’s not a great Mario Party by any means. A majority of the traditional Mario Parties are better! But for it’s decent for what it is, but I would definitely give it a full playthrough, because again my friend and I hated it until we adjusted after maybe 3 or 4 rounds. And honestly, I am low key worried about Bowser in Jamboree. I feel like they’re going to try to make it way too funny as they constantly acknowledge it’s not the real Bowser.
@@JayjMcDonald Looks like we will be in the 20 player mode, which I think is the better option. Like, I enjoyed the mini-boss and boss battles in 9 and 10, but they also just got very repetitive since they were on every board and only had a handful of them, so it kinda just missed the mark imo, but I think in bonus modes it makes a lot of sense to bring that back!!
I use to own mario party 10 butt I was tried of playing as bowser I wanted to play as the mario characters butt we needed a wii remote to play as them butt I couldn't afford one so that's why mario party 10 is garbage
@@JayjMcDonald That makes sense! It definitely sounds like you didn’t really get a good chance to play the game if you could only do Bowser Party, and even then, could only play as Bowser! Completely understand why you hated it!!
@@NinToaster_9 Not likely. They already showed off a few maps, and were still wondering how a lot of them work. They’ll likely be showing off the other maps in the next trailer (Wiggler Tree Party, King Bowser’s Keep, the retro boards). We won’t know until we actually get the game.
@@NinToaster_9 Nope. I feel like I’m one of the few people being rational about this game lol I mean, just because it’s traditional doesn’t mean it’s good. MP4 had a classic item system, chance time, Bowser spaces, and board gimmicks, and it was still terrible. I really think people are assuming this will be greatly simply because they want it to be and because it doesn’t look like Super. And again, it could be good! It could be great! But we DONT KNOW until we play it.
I really hope they changed the chance time to where you can't time it like in superstars give me mp6 chance time and if this game does have duels I'm hoping you can duel for stars
@@fira9387 I like it being timed and being able to choosing which order you want to do them. Makes it more skill based instead of 100% luck. Feels more like a blend of skill and luck, which is a reflection of Mario Party as a whole. The only issue I have is that it’s way too easy to do a star switch. I kinda wish they got rid of that. I think giving away 2 stars is enough, especially because it’s harder to time the characters since those dice speed up after you hit the first one AND you have to put them in the right order. A star Switch it won’t matter who’s on what end, so you don’t really need a lot of luck to get the winning player involved.
Looks promosing the gimmicks remind me of the new board gimmicks added to 6-8 which did have gimmicks that could make the stars cost less then 20. and it looks like it plays nothing like super. Naming doesn’t mean anything when it is clear that it's called that for marketing.
@@aaronjones6299 I feel like the boards are much more similar to 1-5 where it’s mostly classic star rotation. The price change for the mall is different, but that’s the only one. As stated in the video, I think it’s called Super just because it’s “new” content. Old content like Superstars will probably drop the “super” part.
@@ItsKevRA nah they ramind me more of 6-8 were the gimmicks are a bigger fouces. The cars in rollem race way is the type of new way to play they keeps it classic that 6-8 did with things like star stealing boards and investiment boards. Were it is still classic gameplay but the gimmicks seem more involved.
@@aaronjones6299 Eh, 6-8 had gimmicks like “here’s 3 random boxes and one has a star” and “Invest coins I to a bank or windmill to get stars” or “everyone’s starts with 5 stars, now just steal them from each other.” This game seems like 1-5 where star is rotating. Even on Roll em Raceway there seems to be 2 star spaces, which Yoshi’s Tropical Island had. Big difference here though is that it doesn’t alternate with Bowser.
@@ItsKevRA but unlike those these gimmicks are more out there like the ones in 6-8. Sure there might be mutiple star space in ranbow galleria but stars having a chance to cost less then 20 is something both 6 and 7 do for gimmicks. And rolly race way having a big fouces on rolling higher then any other board in the series allows is a shake up games like 1-5 wouldn't do these both are things I expect out of 6-8 sense even those more standered boards got a little out there with there gimmicks.
@@aaronjones6299 Again, 6-8 had weird things about getting the stars, and this doesn’t. These gimmicks are about the boards themselves. Like, yeah stars might be 10 coins on occasion in Galleria, but it sounds like everything is going on sale. Wouldn’t be much of a flash sale if it was only the star lol
@@KingGisInDaHouse Maybe? I don’t remember. There was way too much of a variety. One thing I personally want is Partner Party from Super Mario Party to return, as long as the boards are fully seperate from the normal boards. With Bowser, as much as I adore Bowser, he's better off as a board mechanic. Edit: I agree with how the Bowser thing is kinda stupid but disagree with Boo. I know it's weird for Boo to steal from Boo but like you said there are multiple boo's so it's not like he's stealing from himself.
A lot of people expected it because the home console games have been on a 3 year rotation.
@@ItsKevRABut they could. (Hopefully)
For the flash sale in Rainbow Galleria. It’s probably just for 1 turn. A occasional event.
@@NinToaster_9 Maybe. Maybe it last 3 turns and alternates like the day/night cycle in MP6. Maybe it easily activates and most games will have a flash sale for half the turns. It’s completely unknown at this point.
@@ItsKevRA you can see on the ui that it is only going to last 1 turn
@@Sakuma_Saikoro_DiceKun In that specific instance it appears to be 1 turn, BUT we don’t know what triggers it and if it’s a different turn mount depending on an unknown variable.
For example, Jungle Jam from MP4 just randomly selects 1-3 turns to flood the map. So, will it always be 1 turn, or will it vary?
You raise some valid points but at the same time I wanna have faith in nintendo, I want to believe they are learning from their mistakes.
I’m not going to brag but I pre ordered this game at game stop
@@MarioandJulius Hope they have a good preorder bonus for ya!
@@ItsKevRA thanks and plus yes they do
Mario Party Superstars had the potential to be the best Mario Party Game but NDcube blew it
I hope they learned from their mistakes but it's NDcube so I remain sceptical.
Kevra, I don't think Superstars was ever going to get DLC since the first SMP didn't have it & I highly doubt Jamboree will have it either
You’re practically printing money lol
Jamboree is going to be released on a system that’s about to get released. I highly doubt it will get DLC. I’m surprised they even released it in a console that will be dead in a year considering Mario Party has legs and sells for years and years. It’s not like Super made 20 million over night. It took them 3 years to get to a little over half of that.
Yes. This has already been established
This won't be established until the game is out and we've actually gotten to play it.
Hopeful that this game would be better than all the other NDCube Mario Party games combined... 🤞
@@JanicFan Can’t imagine that to be the case since Superstars was one of the best Mario Party games ever made, but we shall see.
Relax. They bringing back the 1-10 dice block, after all, a promise is a promise.
@@NinToaster_9 …. When did they promise that?
@@ItsKevRA (Ignores)
I wish there was boss battles
Just wait until the September direct. Then all your questions will be answered.
@@ItsKevRA Also, I think your Anxiety is controlling you to much.
@@NinToaster_9 Nope. I feel like I’m one of the few people being rational about this game lol
I mean, just because it’s traditional doesn’t mean it’s good.
@@ItsKevRA just shut up about it.
Let people have hope for the game.
@@ItsKevRA yeah that's true we'll see what happens with this game meanwhile I'll be playing the older Mario party games 😄
@@fira9387 Same! lol
@@aaronjones6299 Eh, 6-8 had gimmicks like “here’s 3 random boxes and one has a star” and “Invest coins I to a bank or windmill to get stars” or “everyone’s starts with 5 stars, now just steal them from each other.”
This game seems like 1-5 where star is rotating.
Didn't mp7 have chance time as an orb?
@@KingGisInDaHouse Maybe? I don’t remember. There was way too much of a variety. One thing I personally want is Partner Party from Super Mario Party to return, as long as the boards are fully seperate from the normal boards.
Maybe if there was like 3 new partner party boards and 1 returning partner party board.

New 2: Peepa's Ghost Romp, a ghost house themed board split into many different rooms, gimmick is that every turn 2 random rooms swap.
Retro 1: Gold Rush Mine from Super, gimmick is King Bob-omb exploding.
