I bought a monstera from Costco's some years ago.
It was actually one that I sent you pictures about a while back.
It was already placed in the pot wrong when I purchased it. It already had a decent size to it. After watching your videos and then getting some more advice from you, I tried to reposition it in the pot the way you suggested.
I'm pretty sure I didn't do the best of jobs.😅 But I did my best LOL.
I have seen a significant change in growth. And it is more aesthetically pleasing.
Hopefully the younger monstera that I acquired which had only a few leaves on it. Which is now attached to a moss pole and positioned the best way I can LOL will not give me as much of a headache.
So far so good.
Though I am the plant 'addic' in my house , we all enjoy your videos and I actually get my whole family to watch your videos with me. Thank you for all the great knowledge, advice and content!😊
That's so great. Glad everything is working out much better for you and your plants. 🌱🌱
Love your videos and your advice is clear and concise! I had to propagate my huge monsterea and gave 3 away and they now have 8 leaves to admire in their hom! However my mother plant had all new leaves or fronds going this and that way! Should I just let her be for now?
That corkscrew twisting Monstera situation is exactly what I sent to you via email some time ago (my name's Slavo) :D Thanks for the email response and this video! Much appreciated. I already tried fixing it and now I'm continuing by trying to continuously stretch and twist the main stem to straighten it as much as I can. Good luck to all the plant growers and lovers with your Monsteras!
Thanks for that, I'm in the same position.
I bought a baby monstera at homedepot for super cheap a few months ago, and after being entertained by your plant info i realized my monstera is all wonky. After watching you repot, support, and separate your plants, i did it myself only to find this place stuffed NINE monsteras into one medium pot. I decided it was time to get them outta there, and after about a month of shock and virtually no growth, im finally seeing new leaves again. (I put the smallest baby on its own and its finally growing a leaf, and i separated a baby stem and threw it in a pot with the specific plant that grew the first fenestrated leaf of the bunch and they BOTH havr e little babies comingggggg)
Thanks if you did read this. You must know how much joy this plant has been giving me and the part you have to play in maintaining it. I enjoy your videos and the way you deliver information, and i hope you keep making content that matters to you, and in a way that feels the most comfortable. Youll always find someone who enjoys c:
I wish I could pin two comments! I'm glad your plant is doing well. Thanks so much for watching and the kind words 😁
So glad to hear your plant is thriving 😊
I think I just bought a very similar home depot monstera a few days ago too, it had 6 separate plants all shoved together but I was able to separate and repot them without too much difficulty. Hopefully they thrive like it sounds like yours are :)
That monsters is beautiful
Oh Lee, what the 😮 was I thinking. I am thankful for you and your information, yet I fear I may have bitten off more than I can chew. Therefore you can’t stop providing these gems of knowledge and as always keep up the great work you do. Thank you, Kim
Thanks for watching, Kim!
Can't get enough monstera help. Thank you!
Happy to help!
I love plant velcro.
I always keep a bunch on hand!
Thank YOU! I followed the link you left on my comment to you on another video and I have corrected the position of my monster monster.
I retied it as well because I had THAT wrong. I had the stake on the window side. I'm a bad girl. But you always know. Oh, and BTW, my
Monstera came with 4 MORE which I have repotted. They've taken a long time to grow a new leaf (during winter) but I'm on track with
then and two already have new leaves. Two are in pots and two are in water growing roots. I'm having so much FUN here! :-)
Best plant RUclipsr! Very informative, clear, and straight to the point. Thank you!
The cup explanation is brilliant!! The visual explanation made it super easy to understand
My mum's monstera sits in front of a window, and gets turned whenever the leaves start facing the window completely. So yeah, its got the corkscrew thing going on. But she likes the look of it, so I can't interfere 🤷♀️. I guess I'll have to deal with that in a few years lol
I have a policy of 'listen to your mother'.
That plant is BEAUTIFUL 😍
Hi Lee, your illustration is adorable ❤ and SO on point!
I'm learning how to grow a monstera indoors from you. Thanks for sharing your experience in these growing conditions.
My baby that I'm growing from seed just gave me its first fenestrated leaf. I'm such a proud mama😊
That’s awesome. Congratulations.
@@KillThisPlant ❤🌱🦚🎉
Great information. I did not know the stem would twist
Thank you for this information!
I really enjoy your videos 😊cause you always seem to answer questions that have .
Дуже красива Монстера.
Those are breathtaking!!!!!!!!!! You're awesome
Such a beautiful plant
great information, appreciate your knowledge
My husband made me an eight foot, three pole trellis using PVC pipes. He wrapped rope around each of the pipes and then connected the poles with a small PVC pipe wrapped with rope up on top and it looks so amazing. My three monstera plants are happily climbing up the poles and it looks so full and amazing. The PVC pipes are extremely sturdy. Highly recommend this way!
That's great! I'm all for diy solutions.
El Jefe is looking so gorgeous! So obsessed with your videos, I was hoping for another one soon. Everyone else gets on my last nerve. I don't have the patience to sit through someone being all cutesy or being so technical idk wth they're talking about or just blathering on and on saying nothing.
I love it. thanks Lee
oh shit... that's me...
😆 shouldnt have asked such a good question if you didn't want me to make an entire video about it. 🤷🏾♂️
@@KillThisPlant thank you for taking the time to answer it ❤️❤️
Wow! These monstera's are amazing!
I’m using birch branches for my monstera too, and they look so nice. I’m sad that my newest leaf is smaller, I think just because we’re past solstice. I guess I’m going to beak down and get a grow light to see if we can survive the Minnesota winter. I turned mine, only to rearrange and make room for other plants, and I think that may have impacted it too. I’d love an update on your dad’s plants. Thanks for your teachings.
Thanks. Couple dad videos in the works.
Man thats a beautiful plant. Mine is getting bigger. Hopefully in time it will become just as grand 💪🏽. Thanx 4 the vids.
I’m sure it will!
I didn’t realise how big your monstera was until it was on the floor and like the height comparison is like unreal, your monstera is so huge
@KillThisPlant You’re gonna need a bigger house. 😲
Seriously lol I was thinking that too
I know! I have high ceilings, but I don't think I'll last another 2 years like this.
@@KillThisPlant you got this.
She’s living wild and free.
Damn, just when I thought I was on the right track, you go and show me something new. Gonna have to adjust my stake. Plant velcro is a game changer.
You want me to bring some for you?

I have been binge watching your videos. Absolutely amazing videos. You are so clever❤❤
Glad you like them!
What type if tie is that in video
What if your leaves are heavy
Good info
I would love to have the space for a big form, will put all my love and care in my smaller form until then 😋
Very helpful information, thank you. 😊 Have some adjusting to do now! 🪴
Mine's fabulous, but I think I've done everything wrong that you suggest! It's been twisted a lot, as it was obscuring the telly when friends sit by it. I'll need to get on and repot whilst I can still go outside without being blown away, and sort a good support. Is it OK to move it away from the window, as it is in the way now? My house is tiny!
It is Amazing!!! Can you sale a stem !
Ugh one of my smaller Monsteras is trying to do the corkscrew dance. And I just gave up 😅
Her front is the back and her back is the front. She’s funky but I love her 🙃💚
💃🏾
can you make a video on how to make the stem of your monstera grow up along the pole? Mine keep growing straight out even with a moss pole and theyre driving me crazy! Its like theyre trying to escape the pot
Just gotta keep tying back the new stems as the form!
Love your videos and sense of humor! Those monstera leaves are super impressive! Mine needs to be staked as it is currently in a 3 tier cake stand (don't judge, it looks good lol). Where can I find these birch poles you have??? I've looked online and at big box stores.
A local family run nursery carries them.
Isn’t corkscrew better stability? That way weight is not on one side of stake making it lean/hopefully not break? 😬
I bought a monstera seedling last november and it's finally fenestrating but i'm glad i saw this video because i've been tying the petioles to the moss pole LOL
They'll forgive you!
Wow wonderful Monstera ^^

Always love the vids! My aesthetic for monstera poles are now driftwood. Love the look of the wood and the support it gives.
Pro tip- Be sure to soak in fresh water for a couple weeks and dry before you put it in your pot. 😉
Why?
@@gentlydown41 you want to make sure you wash out all the salts trapped in the wood. Change the water often, especially the first few days.
@@richardr5878 ok, but what's wrong with having salt in the wood? I staked a monstera a bit ago and I'm just seeing what I should have done any why lol
How do you water a Plant that big? That is my number one question.
Lmbo, I love you said, Hi, doing my best " so am I... Trust me so am I
You are so awesome, I love your videos! I have a question- I have a monstera bigger than yours, it's almost the size of a Volkswagen bus, I have never staked it, is that a problem? It's naturally tall and wide, it lives outdoors here in sunny Florida, I meant to divide it into 4 but never got around to it and now I have a mountain of green goodness. I do too dress it with my compost and mist it somewhat frequently. She's very pretty! Thank you!
If it's growing outside and you're happy with its size, I wouldn't bother staking it.
Lee, i seem to have a mental block in which way to stake my monstera. i have one on my porch that seems to be 'doing the right thing'. then i have a smaller one in my window in the living room. it has appx 13 leaves, im not sure if its staked correctly. im just gonna wing it. they are a pain in my ... somethin. i will continue to do the best i can. i dont give up easily! Thanks for your great content. ive learned lots from you, even tho in 68 & have been a plant person since i was 18. i wish you could see my monstera & give me a clue... where would i send a photo? my Daughter could do it im sure. please let me know. thank you!

I'm sure you're doing just fine, but reach out if you like.
She is gorgeous, and I experience your comments often, lol.
I recently moved my baby for the afternoon to rinse her but had to step out while she was drying. Sadly she got sunburned on the top. Should remove the leaf, trim the leaf, or just wait for it to Dye off
Sorry to hear that. In the case of sunburn I would recommend just waiting until it falls off on its own or at least a few new leaves grow first.
Do you have a link where to buy the large planters you use? I'm trying to find a plastic one with good drainage, I've only been using terracotta planters, but there are just getting too heavy. I'm wondering what's your take on terracotta vs plastic planters?
I bought 10 and 12 inch on Amazon they are more heavier plastic. I’m going to repot 1 of my monsteras hopefully today but I’m so nervous about it.
Do you have a merch shop? I love the t-shirt
I do but it's currently closed for now.
Hey!
My stem is doing the corkscrew move, can I counteract this by forcing it upright and restaking?
Also, I saw your repotting video and noticed that you didn’t break up the root ball, so I did the same since mine is so huge. A week after repotting I ended up clipping off the older/lower leaves as they were drooping and going yellow. Is this normal after repotting or could I have done something wrong?
Thanks for any info you can provide!
What soil do you use and what was the pot size upgrade to/from?
You can just try to stake as best as you can. As long as the stem is stable, it's fine.
Hi Lee thank you so much for all the monsters help that you’ve given us it’s been highly appreciative. I am still looking for the clear plastic to make a monstera moss pole for my monsteras. Do you know where I can get it? Any help is greatly appreciative. Thank you so much.
I read someone was able to find translucent table placemats at a dollar store and used those.
@@KillThisPlant Okay thank you.
If you want your plant to grow more quickly or slowly, can you control that by increasing or decreasing light? I have some control over that with my adjustable grow lights. This is my first monstera and I'm a little overwhelmed by how fast it's growing.
Yeah, you can, but also less light will make your leaves smaller and more stretched out.
Towards the goal of a wider non 2 by 4 looking growing stake, how about a nice looking trellis?
Is somebody making such tall narrow sturdy wire/steel/wooden trellises?
A trellis can be good, I just worry about stability.
How should I stake a monstera outside. I have six outside
Outside as it's in the ground?
Most people plant them up against walls or trees.
WOW!!! Your Monstera is gorgeous!!! #monsteragoals
Бесподобные монстеры
nice 🎉
Thanks 😊
I'm thinking two birchpoles fixed to each other. Maybe that's a plank alternative?
I think that could work.
It worked really well! She started to work on air roots almost instantly!
I learned my prince of orange was facing the wrong way 'cause of this video (yes I tried staking it lol). Just turned it around!
I think a prince of orange is a self heading philodendron and wouldn't follow this advice? Not too sure I don't have that plant. But I think you could get away with turning it.
How is your monstera so large without being super tall? Also, how old is it?
I'm actually 9 feet and 7 inches tall, so 🤷🏾♂️.
Also around 3 years.
Lee is there any space in the room left for you? 😂
Not really 😕
First of all, hi, doing my best. 😊❤
A few months ago I bought my 1st monstera. It's getting large enough to need support. Thanks for the tips! Would you recommend following the same technique for a Monstera standlyana?
Absolutely!
What do you use as a fertilizer or plant food? Thanks in advance✌🏼
💚
What if you have a moss pole that has aerial roots anchored in it? 😭😭
Myself i would take it apart, and chop n prop. It's already air layered. Now how many friends can you pass off a monstera to? 😅
@@whiskybrush3219 Ahhh okay, that makes sense 😭 the thing is, my monstera is stil relatively new (2 years) and only has 9 leaves, the most recent two FINALLY having inner fenestrations 😭 it's juuust starting to curve away from my moss pole, I'm sure if I HAD to i could mayne break off some of the aerial roots anchoring it maybe? At least for now I'm going to have to try to train it back to the pole somehow bc chopping it's two best leaves so far to prop terrifies me (I'm always really bad at propogating anything LMAO)
@@whiskybrush3219 also, sorry to double comment, what does "air layered" mean?
I need a beginners class for my monstera because this video is confusing 😕 😅
This was definitely a more technical intermediate/advanced video. Go check out the playlist I mentioned at the end.
@KillThisPlant OK thanks, I'll check it out 😀👍🏽
@@KillThisPlantLee what do you recommend for helping your plants from shock when repotting them? Any kind of additive like some recommend? ✌🏼
@@T4Tracy2 not really, as long as your plant has good light and roots are healthy before repotting and you go up to a reasonable size with 'good' soil your plant won't go into shock. There are 'transplanting' fertilizers designed to help with that. With the NPK there is usually a high middle number.
How long have you had this monstera for? Or should I ask how old is the plant itself?
Grown it out for 3 ish years now, from a cutting.
Great! When you propagate from a cutting does that fast track the maturity and fenestrations?
@@pgarcia.13 generally yes, it depends on if it's a top cutting. If it's a mid cutting it depends on how thick the original stem is.
Thanks for the info. Your videos are great. Ive learned a lot from them!
@@KillThisPlantso I have watched and did the soil as you have shown us, the different types, but what the heck are you feeding that beautiful plant? Which food or fertilizer for airoids do you prefer? I live for your videos and your awesome advice!
