Evening lads, it's been a while.
Monster Hunter Frontier's 12 years of life will end in December. I'm gonna miss it a lot, and it would be a shame if people forgot about all the unique options available. So I thought I would make a video going over how the Zenith system worked.
In short, this is your endgame outside of the Peerless nightmare and the Snake-Slave Cage. Don't wanna do Raviente? Do Zeniths. The vast majority of them are amazing fights, but some (Looking at you, Inagami and Espinas) can also be just awful. Hope this is laid out nice and clear for you all. Let me know how you found it.
Peace. x
Hello everyone! I have decided to follow up on this video with a full series on the Zenith Monsters, going piece by piece! You can watch the whole thing at the below link!
ruclips.net/p/PLgja2X6rPjFej6SLeJrUpWnZ3vyncYpXf&si=zUYfTwPRqNsRibGp
I love the Zeniths and love to talk about them, I hope you do too (:
As an American player, I’ve never gotten the chance to fully experience the game but I’ll still miss it. But it really makes a person wonder, after hundreds of original and new monsters, Capcom HAS to be planning on doing something with them. I hope one day I could hunt a barurugaru or something in a main series game
Eric Godoleshi I hope they bring more frontier mechanics over man, I really do
Same
The challenge of the harder species will be very welcome, Rise could introduce some Frontier monsters, I'm hopeful
Don't forget about explore monsters too
The Egyptian elder trio was wonderful
Espinas was just confirmed for Sunbreak
I never got to experience Frontier. Of a remake or whatever is made, it better be available in the west. I hate it when stuff is region locked
Well, you now can fully fulfill your dream
@@angryoldman9798 what do you mean?
@@christotidis6014 There are some servers where you can play this game, just search
Sadly that I never got to try this game. I hope a replacement it's announced soon , and make it to the wast this time. There are a plethora of monsters never seen in the main series and it would be a shame if the never return.
Jose Echevarria I 100% agree. It’s such a fun experience I would hate for people to miss out on it
Wasn’t there a monster that would turn into a Zenith mid-fight? Bringing it back would be a perfect way to keep a bit of the Zeniths history in mainline!
Don't you scare me like that
Yup, Bogabadorumu
It’s got too many spikes”
Nergigante: am I a joke to you
King
problem is: (lemme hit this dead horse one more time lmao)
Nergi spikes: plenty of them, bony, thin, believable (we have porcupines and hedgehogs with similar spike structure)
Frontier: Not as many, “plastic-looking” or multicolored, large, fantastical
Then again, it’s a game and it’s Capcom trying something new, so I won’t rag on it
@@Enneamorph I mean Nergi regrows his spikes at a ridiculously fast rate and they can turn rock hard at a drop of a pin so I wouldn’t say he’s exactly realistic.
@@songbird6414 yeah but nergi spikes are a key part in his biology while frontier spikes are just there for looks so I'd say that nergi is way more realistic than the frontier monsters
@@realr6ckstar that depends on the monster though. Monster like Espinas, Hiyujikiki(might have spelled that wrong) and Toridcless use their spikes in combat and biology. Hiyujikiki is pretty much just a flying wyvern Nergigante. Heck, even the Magala's true frenzy mode is lore accurate due to frenzy crystals existing.
Anyone who wanted to play MHF, in this last Months its free to play now, so everyone can enjoy it now.
My favorite Zenith is Rukodiora, because I already loved the idea of magnetism in Monster Hunter.
Yeah man, Ruko is fun as hell, tricky, but fun. I’m very glad it’s F2P at this time of year, let’s me save a little lmao
Although i'm definitely in the group of people that puts a pretty heavy importance on good designs, and personally hate the way most zeniths look, I can respect that gameplay wise they were incredibly creative fights and i hope some of the experimentation done by capcom does reach the main series. Really insightful video, don't see many people give good, concise insights into frontier.
Zenith isn't that bad
It's similar to deviant
@@SandMan1998 Much superior to deviants
I'm glad I got to play Frontier for 4 years, I miss this game dearly everyday after the shutdown
Deviants: Were the craziest monsters in the series
Zeniths: Hold our spikes
Zenith were essentially akin to say endgame/raid bosses in most general MMOs, if you went with a group, all of you had to be on your A+ game(and make sure to have some pointe in Evasion), or you just got your cheeks CLAPPED
Man I would be so happy if this game was revived and given a western release. I sadly never got around to playing it but I loved watching stuff from mhfz
You can play it through private servers tho
I've come to appreciate Frontier over the years although I never played it i always loved the monsters designs cuz they're more unique than the main series but what I have a problem with is people complaining that they had too many spikes and I always thought the reason is because Frontier is its own series and the creators of the frontier games and expansions have more freedom to do what they want with the monsters and that's what I appreciate about Frontier
tho personally im not a fan of frontiers take on their monsters and fight design, i honestly really appreciate you doing this video sharing all this obscure stuff about this series and just share the love in general, keep it up man and i cant wait to see more videos covering it
007access B my pleasure man, and thank you for watching!
007access B exactly why do hate the design of the monsters?
@@pauliedee1951 alot of the design choices of some of the monsters are honestly just totally unnecessary and couldve been done in other ways than just adding big spike or big teeth to signify that there stronger.
Well that mostly just zenith many normal frontier monsters have reason for useing their spikes like espinas who uses them as a defence or a monster like guanzorumu who design is base of a king(red and gold are the mantle) .
@@pauliedee1951 i know all of this, with espinas its a given due to what his based off of which is why im not bothered by it and for guan his not really that spiky compared to the others but if they were going for a kingly aesthetic to purple n gold wouldve been a much better colour to represent him as king since purple is the colour of royalty and the nobility, plus knowing how frontier youd think they'd given us a purple monster by now lol.
Good stuff! I'm not a huge fan of Frontier fights despite liking quite a few designs/fight elements because of how bright and flashy things are (literally, it hurts my eyes after a bit), but this content is still great!
TURBODERP thank you! I try my best to put out worthwhile stuff rather than just anything, so I’m glad you enjoyed!
I didn't see them amongst your subscriptions, so I'll let you know that the Ragegamingvideos team is doing a playthrough of the Frontier fan resurrection.
They haven't gotten there yet, but they finished up the origin species already and they've really reversed their opinion on the monsters of Frontier.
this game was the best sad that it stopped the closest thing i have to this game is when I play valor ls because of the counter
Man, you truly never fully apreciate something until its gone
The hardest monsters I’ve ever fought were the EX deviants from Generations. But these Zeniths seem like a whole different level.
Zenith Tigrex is my favorite Zenith!
ROAR LASERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
I only recently beat Fatalis in Iceborne, and World was my first monster hunter game. I've been looking up other MH games, and seeing all the monsters in this game really makes me feel small time haha. Wish I had the opportunity to take on some of these other guys, looks fun as hell.
same, playing mhgu is pretty fun, frontier looks fun asf tho, im sad i never got to play this game, but hopefully they'll do something with frontier, they cant have just deleted everything
@@theprojuicer5385 it's possible to play frontier again on community servers, give it a look
That opening of the video is like a big nope moment for me if I will be playing Frontier.
I mean, it's one of the stronghest *Zeniths*. It's not like the whole game is like that
the designs and idea on this figths are incredible and with espinas coming on sunbreak who knows wich monster migth come next
still the more op monster migth be too ridiculos and overpowered for the main series, i mean just looking at this figths im scared
they can be toned down a bit ;)
or tuned up >:)
I played Frontier for a year and a half back in 2015, I sadly never came back to the game even though I really enjoyed it.
thanks for this. I played the base frontier I never got to play z I didn't know some of this stuff
Freddy Miranda my pleasure!
With now the possibilities of Frontiers monsters coming back in main games (i don't think team 1 will do it, but team 2 will probably do it again in their next game), i just hope they'll never bring HC, burst, exotic and zenith species in main games.
These species should stay Frontier Exclusives
I hope frontier comes to the west in a similar way blizzard brought classic wow in, I feel like the audience for frontier would be big
They should bring back Zenith monsters. (I'm definitely not biased, in any way.)
I’m glad it’s back
Tbh I don't think Capcom can relaunch frontier in it's final form anywhere ever again really. What they are more likely to do is spruce it up with more modern design from recent titles, but let themselves go apeshit with balance. I would love to see a western MH MMO that's so bonkers and off the wall like frontier. I think they could manage it but it's a matter of how. Considering the differing audiences on Nintendo, Sony, Xbox, and pc. If they wanted everyone to play together it would be a massive undertaking. I Believe it would be worth it, but definitely not easy.
As someone who only touched monster hunter for a bit in the past and then finally put like 1k hours in world, my take on this is that while all these monsters look cool there's this slight break in reality that puts me off. Like yes, Alatreon and Fatalis in iceborne are out there, but they were balanced in a way that the fights felt and looked cool, were really difficult, but also held a certain weight and reality to it. These fights look cool, but I feel like their move sets are all over the place. Like for example, I watched a peerless nargacuga fight and it did its dash, leaving behind blades, but it did it far apart from where the player was who literally stood still during the whole interaction. It looked cool af, but I couldn't help but wonder "what was the point of it doing that?" It added nothing to the fight when it's supposed to be an attack.
So, I still want monsters like this to come back in future monster hunter games and I don't know what the best way to go about this is. But I would certainly want the developers to really think on what they've created and bring that sense of realism and weight from world to these monsters while still maintaining what made them badass and difficulty in the first place. For one, I'd take away this whole super speed thing from most of them. I thought it was cool when I saw howling zinogre doing it because he controls lighting. It felt like a natural extension of his abilities. Apparently though, there are a shit ton of these monsters that do it. It lost all novelty, weight, and meaning to me when I realized that.
For those who want to see all the Zenith monsters and their move-sets, this video might help but it's in a different language. ruclips.net/video/QXfjs-iVFxc/видео.html
Thanks
Although zenith monsters are difficult, that magnet weapon you're using is completely broken op
In conclusion, Frontier is like superhuman peak and ultimate monster evolutions. Bruh. Sounds like an anime.
I'm wondering, will they ever remake the game? Or better yet remake any of the other games?
Hopefully
I hope frontier comes back somehow someday.
Hey CeraCymmetry! I'd like to know if you still have the data of Monster Hunter Frontier Z. I've been collecting data from many Monster Hunter games and sadly the launcher no longer allows to download the weapons, armors and guild cards of MHFZ. Keep me in touch if you still have them.
Sorry to disappoint lad, I’m afraid I don’t have the files, much as I wish I could resurrect this beauty.
I never got the chance to play this, but the thought of Zenith Plesioth makes me violently angry
Ironically it was incredibly fun to fight
I can only imagine the memes. Zenith Plesioth can hipcheck the player.
@@ButlerOfChaos twice in a row, yep!
Wonder why the didn’t bring the Zenith species to any of the new games?
Thanks to work I'm lucky if I get to watch your streams thanks for upload
Hey man, thanks for watching, don’t worry if you can’t make it just yet, I’m sure I’ll see you soon 👌🏻
@@CeraCymmetry I hope so
Imho, these guys could replace Deviants if not provide a new challenge if brought to the main series.
Aside from Iron and Bone, are the only other Magnet Spikes in Frontier based on Zenith monsters?
Yes but i think there are some event Spikes
What’s the weapon at 00:15? I haven’t played this title yet..
Yashiro Nakamura magnet spikes my dude
With the final developers diary of MHW released and devs saying update 15 is the last free update. I wonder if they will release a buyable DLC along the lines of "MHW: The Last Frontier". That could be interesting.
It could be but that will never happen. It’s enough to ask frontiers monsters to carry over
@@CeraCymmetry all im saying is there's a whole batch of monsters that havent been used yet that could be potential for not only revenue but new, exciting content. It would be pretty cool.
Isaac Smith yeah in a new game lad
@@CeraCymmetry either way, still would be a cool thing see bud.
btw iceborne was the g rank expansion and if ur unfamiliar with how mon hun works, there is the base game then you get g rank and then a new game comes out. mhw is not going to break the formula, they have stated this.
I REALLY want to play frontier through and through (without the subscription because no)
What, I’m a monster hunter veteran and still have no idea what’s he talking about except the skills and g rank. I wish I could play these.
Isn't Froniter G still online? It probably doesn't have what Z has but it still looks fun
thehybridwolfx frontier Z was an expansion to G, think of it like an update to the same game
What type of arm is that guys? A bow and a sword?
Magnet spike
Please tell me which monster's theme is playing in the background..
Srihari Kidiyoor that’s the phase 2 music for Eruzerion (:
@@CeraCymmetry Thanks. It sounds amazing. I already loved Diorekkusu and Odibatorasu's theme. This one gets added to my list of awesome Frontier songs. Do you have any other recommendations?
Srihari Kidiyoor Shantien phase 4, Duremudira phase 2, zenith 800 theme, flower field, and give Berserk Raviente’s themes a listen, there’s some crazy fast ones in there
@@CeraCymmetry Thanks (:
Will you also explain the weapons(new and old) on Frontier and their differences from base MH?
Noire Rune that’s quite an undertaking, I’m mostly going to be focussing on the monsters and mechanics of the game in its final days, maybe some speedruns also
@@CeraCymmetry ohh I see I was curious what were the differences of the weapons but if that's what you'll be planning to do I'll support it 👌
Noire Rune maybe a quick rundown of the unique weapons would be nice, I know a tonfa video exists but magnet spike and switch axe could be a lot of fun. Perhaps an extreme style breakdown.
@@CeraCymmetry You could also showcase the full armor sets from every monster that's exclusive to Frontier. Since the incredibly unique try before you buy option would make things a whole lot easier for it. Those definitely should not go unnoticed because the designs based on appearance combined with their listed active skills greatly defines just about everything about that monster's abilities. Baruragaru's armor set which grants Vampirism and Starving Wolf is a perfect example
what's the song you're using?
Here ye go, it's Eruzerion's phase 2 theme ruclips.net/video/H66u3G-GJU8/видео.html
I expected a video about the zenith lore lol
What lore? They’re evolved species, that’s about it.
i see this 1:44 i can not stop thinking in use ZL+B to avoid the monster full combo haha
U can still play it today
i kinda want hte song whats the song name
Eruzerion phase 2
@@CeraCymmetry oooh todoroki zinogre thats why it sounded so familiar thanks
As much as I think frontier looks just uhhh..... not much like what I would consider to be """true monster hunter""" and would not want this in a main series game in a trillion years, it's still pretty cool and ngl I kinda wish I could've been able to play it.
well its a non canon series but still a good monster hunter game, been looking foward to play this game for a big while.
Just curious, what is a true monster hunter game for you?
@@crossxplague7617 Frontier is in fact canon. If you know portuguese, It will be easier for me to explain
Not to mention Z stuff carries up the defense reduction penalty of G8 tier quests if I recall.
Something like that. All but the lightest scrapes at Z800 are one shots for me at Adrenaline levels lmao
Hope the Zenith species come back on Rise or its expansion, after all Generations Ultimate introduced the deviants.
Bring. Back. Shantien
This looks like God Eater. :D
Zenith: G rank 200
Fatalis in IB: MR24
ARE YOU FU---?!
That's lowest requirement but the actual minimum requirement for it is MR100 with Safi gears unlocked
But hey, Capcom just loved watching speedrunner suffers for the lulz
Holy shit what weapon are you using? It’s godly 😳
Its the Magnet Spike
Good explanation. Sounds like a fun experience but this definetly doesn't look like Monster Hunter anymore. Look at all those explosions, over the top monsters, attacks and explosions. It breaks the "ecology" of MH, and also the inmersion to me. If this wasn't called Monster Hunter, was still made by Capcom, and changes some monster names and whatnot, I'd play it, call me a weirdo. Also if it was outside of Japan.
Its just monster hunter 2 with some update and hyper hard monster.
All you can do in this game not just hunt a monsters. But to survive and hone your skills.
This is more fun than other mh games to me.
Someone like a challenges.
Can you do an armor or weapons showcase for the zeniths
S P I K E S
Bruh zenith ruko is powerful
Headcannon for zenith species is that they’re the product of genetic tampering
If this is a prequel game that takes place in the ancient civilization…
Idk they never really say much
But yeah. I don’t believe the zenith are naturally occurring
Well, Z Ruko does happen naturally
"They never really say much"
This is not true. The thing is that all NPC dialogues and quest descriptions are in japanese, and people didn't really bother conserving them so it's really hard to gather information.

Wow, talking about bad translation.
Oh the fan translations for the materials? Yeah I don't think it's completely correct hahaha
@@CeraCymmetry I'm talking about the monster's names.

@@captainfyita2682 are you seriously moaning about pronunciation of Tigrex as a genuine criticism? Tee-grex, as you heard in the video.
Frontier is really not a true monster hunter game or series..they r too gimiky and over the head fight, design, attacks n all..the regular mh games are good keep it simple and looks like real hunting game
