I was in the 1996 production of this show as Tommy age 10 with Paul Keating who was playing the lead. Amazing memories at Bristol Hippodrome first before it went onto London.

The opening part of this was pre-recorded and edited where I worked. I told Des that I was obsessed with the movie when I was 6 and he told me I must have had an effed up childhood. lolol. Saw the OG stage production twice and seeing the revival tonight!

This show was so good ... it had a high operatic class to it - almost avant garde - and it formed such a psychodrama. Really a cut above anything - inspired by Julie Traymor or Mary Zimmerman but just much more personal. I was really fortunate to see this as a teen. Thank you, all.

It is incredible live! Rumor is that they're reviving it on Broadway. At least, they were before the pandemic closed NYC. I'm praying they continue with the production.

It may happen yet. Original director Des McAnuff just put on a fantastic, well-reviewed revival at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, and he and Townshend are talking about a national tour and Broadway.

I saw this live. The Live show of this production made a profound influence on me - - I'm not the type of person who should have seen this show, but I did.
I want to offer a special commendation to Chuck Ortleb of the New York Native. He knows what he did. I thank thank him profoundly.

I had the chance to meet Michael Cerveris after Titanic. I gave him a rose and card and we eventually became pen pals. He was and still is one of the most amazing voices of theater. I actually played the Acid Queen in a local production in 1997.

@@MissyJNightSwan69@MissyJNightSwan69 My friend Leigh, who was the SM for "Tommy," said Michael is a great guy! I'm friends with him on FB BECAUSE of my friendship with Leigh, and he's just a humble, down-to-earth dude making music. I became a fan the instant I saw this during the Tony Awards a thousand years ago. I'm glad he finally won a Tony. He's an extraordinary talent. How awesome you got to play Acid Queen! It's a show I've always wanted to do.

disagree .. the beauty in the 1993 production was Tommy’s forgiveness of all the people who hurt him

l hated the 2024 production, no color, over-amplified, bad choreography, voices nothing like 1993

@@joan-mariezimmerman6885 1993 did a lot better, but I still really enjoyed 2024. And I noticed at my last show they added Uncle Ernie acknowledging Tommy at the end, with like a wave gesture, which I think worked. I understand about forgiveness, but I don’t think they should give the impression that a victim can still have any kind of relationship with a predator.
