A tip a barber gave me that has helped me a lot was 1: the best time to shave is after a shower 2: use cool water to rinse your face after the shave and then apply aftershave.
FYI, in my opinion The Shave Lounge has the best stuff on the market.
Jeremiah Sage after a show how ur gonna have little hair on u
Agreed 👌
Ways to have long lasting and close shave:
1) Apply water (warm)
2) use preshave oil
3) use shaving cream ( for exfoliation)
4) shave it
5) use after shave ( cream)
After shave cream or Oil! )
Shaving also includes two passes going into the grain, then one pass going against the grain to shave really close
Shaving cream isn’t for exfoliation. It’s for lubrication. Certain shaving brushes can exfoliate your skin.
Just one more thing I would recommend using straight razor or safety razor instead of those disposal razors you get a much more comfortable and close shave.
i have been using DE razors for past 5 years and I only do it because I like the old school feel and experience but that said, I can still get a much closer shave with a mach 3. I have good technique, use best combo of razor and blades, soaps, creams etc but still feel the cartridge gives best shave.
people say its more expensive to use cartridges but I got RAD, razor addiction disorder and found out I spend more $ since going to DE due to all the razors , soaps, brushes, blades etc I keep buying lol.
LOL... RAD is horrible haha. but you know, its nice to look forward to shaving vs before when it was a chore. sometimes I get depressed after I shave thinking I have to wait another day to do it again lol
Shut the fuck up
Frank Gadson also disposable razors really hurt
@@small_boss9532 not really if you’re careful enough. I get the closest smoothest shaves with those
I heard when a young male shaves for the first time it is to be shared with the presence of your father.

Wow. His confidence and speaking skills have rly improved since these days
You should arrange your videos in playlists like, hair, style, products etc, nice video BTW
This is the slowest and calmest video he’s ever made
How can anyone really take these videos seriously when they are constantly just trying to sell us products.
most of them do, but the products really help. You don't have to buy the exact brands they advertise though, but they do help for the end result
They don't even mention brands most of the time, just the product.
Beard blanket though!!! ✂️👆👍
(Cut it out)
That’s so not necessary, its like selling something stupid.....
Because he wants to open peoples minds such as yours to new products that help you with your facial hair. I guess be crusty and have dead skin plus ingrown hairs all over your face then
Men act like they’re too strong for some pre shave oil 🤣🤣 shit is comedy that’s why y’all get no pussy
Tip: don’t let the entire brush soak in warm water, only the top, otherwise the glue will weaken and the brush will get damaged
that was an awesome vid! mad props for your brother helping out with the demo! I'm 43 and never really learned to shave properly and was too embarrassed to ask other guys. it's kind of hard when you have a single mother and the only guys she dated were losers..lol
I feel you on that. I learned from watching shave commercials. Thank God for RUclips
Become a Traditional WetShaver, there are bangin’ products out there and WetShaving has recently had a HUGE resurgence in popularity. Go for a nice synthetic Brush, their cheaper , very soft, and whip up a nice lather in no-time. Next, look for one of the classics, or try a Artisan shave soap. They are priced good, last forever, and are made from top quality like Shea butter and all kinds of good oils and stuff for your skin. Next I recommend getting a good safety razor. At first I wouldn’t spend more than $25-$35 . I recommend the Merkur 34 C or the Edwin Jagger DE 89
Once you get all of that I suggest getting a DE sampler blade set up from EBay or amazon. Like most things shaving is subjective, so something that may work well for you might not work well for others.
Good luck and most of all have fun, take your time and look on RUclips for more in depth WetShaving Shaving tutorials

I'm watching this so I can give my teen a better shave... Haha. He's still too nervous to do it himself.
To avoid irritation, use fragrance free products (shave gel, after shave etc.), use tepid to lukewarm water. Using too hot or too cold water will dry out and irritate skin. Your pores cannot open & close like doors. Just a couple of my tips. 🤘🏼
You can use coconut oil if you don't have a shave oil. it's good for the skin
Coconut oil tends to build up between the blades of a razor though. Great for afterwards though!
I ran out of shaving cream myself so I gotta try that now lol. I've been using shampoo for the meantime btw and its pretty ok too
How the hell do you clran thr oil off your razor then?
May you recommend a brand tho?
Hair grows in diferent directions on the face. You should adjust your passes accordingly. For example when you go with the grain: you shave downwards on your cheek, but on the neck the hair might grow horizontal so you should adjust your razor.
A little tip for you guys that I've learned over my lifetime - use a woman's conditioner as your shaving cream! It really works wonders! It makes your skin slik. So it minimizes friction - hence razor burn! Once I wanted to shave and was out of shaving cream. My mother actually told me to use her conditioner. I tried it and now I never use shaving cream anymore if there is conditioner around. I say women's because I think in general, woman's hair products are better than men's. As men's tend to be a 2 in 1 type of thing. You don't want to use shampoo because it sucks. Conditioner will go on clear so its good for guys that shave in a goatee or like having certain cuts with clean lines. It just isn't gonna get in your way. You've gotta try it! It works lkke a charm!
Wow man your right it really does work
in your last videos we can see more self confidence from you when we look at this video.
big up bro
Just checking out your channel and I found a lot of helpful tips, subscribed!
Good video Jose. I now use a straight razor, a good exfoliation cream before the shave and some good aftershave. It's harder to go sideways with a straight. I typically go with the grain and against for the second pass
Omar, a straight razor by far the best shaving experience! You definitely have to be careful tho, one bad move and you're screwed lol, which is why we didn't recommend it in this video
I had to clean shave for the first time at 17 for fire school and it looks like ive been doing it wrong for months. I would always shave against the grain and clear my face and touch up whatever i missed. Goo to know now lol
I don't like how after he shaved you were still able to see the hair
That's because his technique wasn't good and to add more, he didn't use a safety razor which is much better and straight razor which is even better. I just do two passes with and against the grain, it gives the closest shave there is, and I generally add three drops of coconut oil to me lather which is always organic.
@@ursusdinesanimalia3550 I've used both safety razors and cartridges and let me tell you, you're not going to get a closer shave. You want the closest shave possible? Go against the grain. You're going to get the same results. It's a matter of preference. I picked up my safety razor because I thought I would get less razor burn on my neck because of it but nope.
It could be due to dry skin or improper lather, I do not recommend using warm water because I feel the blade slips over hair, cold water shave stiffens then and the get easily shaved, or maybe ye are using bad quality blades. Try using cold water for a whilst, it reduces irritation and razor bumps.
Replace all "my brother" with "he" and the video will reduce by 10 mins!
How can it be reduced by 10 minutes when the video is only 6 minutes and 4 seconds long. Damn you sound dumb.
fillup316 r/whoosh
Quit whining 6 mins aint that long
Nate p cmon you know kids now don’t have a very good attention span
Y'all have good points
I use to think it would break out my skin if I went against the grain, but I got a professional shave once and they shaved me normal and then went against the grain. Yep it works and appears to get closer. Now I do it..lol also a warm rag applied on face first will help to soften hairs and end with a splash of cool water on face to close pores.
So you shave regular then against the grain or regular with a couple against tha grain
Sweet vid. Very useful for beginners. I wish someone told me these things before my first shave.
Next video: straight razor or safety razor shaving? :)
Thank you! And yes that one is coming soon ;)

Safety razors are great if you still want a five o'clock shadow after shaving.

Watching you guys shave your beard is kinda satisfying for me.
This will probably get lost in the comments. I used this vid as a guide and got and did everything on here. Only thing is, don’t shave too close to the grain of your face of too many times. You will get razor bumps. And trust me, it won’t be fun. And make sure you apply after shave. This will also decrease the chance of getting redness or dreaded razor bumps. Overall, this is a solid and great tutorial.

Get a closest shave ever is
Whether with a safety razor, shavette or straight razor cut throat.
A multiblades razor is a huge problem for the face.
Safety razor 30-50$ will last 1-5 years and sometimes they last even more.
Same ass shavette.
But a straight razor will last at least between 10-50 years, but it's more expensive than the 2 above. Around 100-300$ for a Japanese or German high quality.
I'm talking about personal experiences.
Question what if my facial hair is like a tornado like on my cheek the hair goes in a circle like pila hi how do u shave my hair to go down and not look like a hairy pickchu when it grows
This is a helpful video. I've been trying to get a nice clean shave for a while now, and after watching this video, I think these new techniques will help me greatly. Thank you so much for the upload.
Love the video bro! Thanks for the tips. I came a long way with adding a little more ideas of my own with yours!!

Thank you sir, I'm actually working on a couple beard segments....coming soon
After the warm water and cream, for me: 1. with it 2. along it...and then finally 3. against it. Not too much pressure or passes. Otherwise, cuts and irritation.
Wow ,I love how shaving cream smells
Thank you so much! This was a great reminder in how to shave properly and do the job correctly. I have been shaving once and it has really never felt as though I was receiving a close enough shave. I have been using foam shaving cream and it is just not the same as using a brush and shaving soap as well as a pre treatment.
Its crazy I have seen this channel blow up in like a couple of weeks. When I subscribed you had like 70 000 something subs after a couple of weeks now you have over a 100 000 subs. Anyways you have great content man.

Thank you for the advice, never really knew how to shave properly and would just get it done at the barbershop.

He has came along way. He use to be so stiff compared to now
He’s certainly more humble in his earlier years
Best advice ever is to get crushable aspirin and mix it with extra virgin olive oil and exfoliate the shaving area , let rest for 5 minutes , rinse off and pur on preferred shaving cream. Aspirin helps prevent inflammation and olive oil makes a smoother shave

Great shave. Nice and close. Cool haircut too.
Hi jose
this product is for any skin type , no restrictions
Good video . I hope you do know that a safety razor is the best . This is the way I shave .
Use a safety razor. Wet shaving is the way to shave. It's not difficult at all.
Thamac15 exactly
Yup safety razor
I tried the dollar shave club butter cream and I actually like it. The razors themselves kept cutting me so I went back to my Gillette brand.
I have been using DE razors for past 5 years and I only do it because I like the old school feel and experience but that said, I can still get a much closer shave with a mach 3. I have good technique, use best combo of razor and blades, soaps, creams etc but still feel the cartridge gives best shave.

that's quite common and people don't agree on that.it becomes more of a hobby.
Bro, look into color grading or color correction for your videos. Your skin color isn't natural and the background doesn't help either. Just a quick tip from bro to bro.
Right!? He looks kinda greenish, still great video but nothing is ever perfect ya know
Jose Villanueva You mean from Jose to Jose
Really? He looks fine on my computer.
Hair is looking good, Jose.
How about a video on prom suits? And proper attire?

A beardy telling me how to shave
As a teen who's living with just two females, this'll help me alot, they constantly buy the disposable razor and no shaving cream, nothing, i get really shtty shaves. asian parents are awhole different breed man they pretty much think ingrown hair is a myth
'Against the grain'.... Now that's something I don't hear all that often. But coming to think of it, seems like something that will give slick/smooth feel when you run your finger up the cheeks ('cause that doesn't usually happen and I'm left wondering if I'm doing something wrong, albeit practicing most parts of what you recommend, almost religiously, ever since I started shaving).
Thank you for your tips...!
You're welcome!
“Aftershave feels really nice on your face” I’m sorry but that is absolute cap
The alcohol burns the open pores!
Dope video!
My only question that the Internet can’t seem to answer is what do you do w the razor after a stroke and it’s full of hair . Do y’all just run it under water and clear the hair out or what . ? That’s what I do even though it’s time consuming
Is that his brother? I don't think he mentioned it
What you do you do when the hair and cream gets on your razor because there's no way that doesn't happen while you're shaving with a cream and wet razor?
This guy: "While you can get a cut [with a Gillette 5-blade razor] the odds of it are very slim."
My neck: "...Hold my gauze."
Una afeita perfecta en el hogar, con nuestras propias manos.
This is a question I’ve been trying to figure out for a few months. Why is it that my mustache doesn’t fill in? Like there’s a lot of little patches in it? Never use to happen now it just looks ugly. Is it because i keep shaving my facial hair? I dont think my mustache will ever fill in fully again 😩 love the vid by the way!!
Jose, will your brother be in more videos like he was in earlier videos you've posted or will he simply be dropping in every so often. He adds a good variety to this channel and feel he should be reintegrated into your videos once again.
good stuff. i had just stopped shaving all together because i figured i kept getting ingrown hairs because black people just naturally have curly hair, which for some stupid i thought was causing me to get ingrown hairs.
Hmmm 🤔 could be, I've never heard of that. Try these methods we mentioned in the video next time you shave, I'd love to hear if it makes a difference!

Hey Can I ask what do you ask for in your haircut? I've been growing out my hair & don't know what to ask for?
also you hair product? pls I assume you probably have a video about these questions If I could get a link or just a quick answer pls & thank you.
Yeah but what do you do when every single product you've ever wasted money on either burns your skin or dries it out completely? My skin is appallingly hypersensitive and nothing I've ever tried has worked for me. Growing a beard is not an option as I find them repulsive and the stubble irritates my skin too. Puberty really was my downfall 😭😭😭

Hi, is it ok to go side ways and horizontal ?
the 10 COMMANDMENTS for PREVENTING RAZOR BUMPS & INGROWN HAIRS
1. THOU SHALT NOT USE DIRTY BLADES!
Avoid shaving with dull, over-used razor blades. And be sure to keep your slightly used tools as clean as possible. Scrub the cutting heads of your tools with soap, hot water, and rubbing alcohol to destroy bacteria. Pro Tip: even brand new blades still need to be cleaned.
2. HONOR THY DELICATE SKIN!
Avoid too many blades! If you are prone to ingrown hairs then you don’t need 3 or more blades. More blades equal more passes causing the hair to fall beneath the skin and become ingrown. Plus, more blading the skin leads to micro cuts through which bacteria is more likely to enter and this leads to razor burn.
3. DO NOT TAKE PREP TIME IN VAIN!
Wash or steam the skin for 2 to 3 minutes with warm water. Then apply the shaving cream leaving it on for at least 2 minutes to really soften the hair.
4. THOU SHALT NOT GO AGAINST THE GRAIN!
Shaving against the grain (upwards) may get you a closer shave but doing so also increases ingrowns. Shave in the direction of hair growth…it’s usually downwards. Confirm this by doing a face/ body inspection to see which way your hair grows.
5. THOU SHALT NOT PRESS!
Avoid pressing too hard on the skin with the blade. If you follow STEP #3, then a gliding, light touch is all you need. The hair stubble should literally fall away with little or no pressure from the blade. Pressing hard is the main cause of shaving irritation! Be gentle so as to prevent the hair from being cut so low that it falls beneath the top layer of skin.
6. THOU SHALT NOT PASS, PASS, PASS!
Avoid too many quick passes with the blade. One pass per hairy area - going 1-2 inches downward at a time - will prevent ingrown hairs. Always shave like you might cause damage, not like you’re mowing the front lawn.
7. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT OVER SHAVING!
Avoid shaving too often. This rule is hard to follow, especially if you have to be beardless for your job…but if you are prone to ingrowns, try hair removal with electric clippers (the barber kind of clippers). The results are not super close but no one but you will know the difference. Provided your skin can handle these alternatives try waxing, depilatory, lasering or an epilator.
8. THOU SHALT NOT CLOG!
Avoid using skin/pore clogging creams or lotions since they keep hairs from growing up. After a shave, keep your skin bare; let the tiny army breath, and allow those newly shaved, microscopic hairs to grow out just in time for the next shave. If your objective is smooth, bump-free skin following a shave or wax, then right after hair removal allow the skin to heal first. Promote healing by proper shaving techniques followed by 70% rubbing alcohol which kills any bacteria that may enter those micro cuts created from the shave and prevents the onset of razor burn. Sure your skin will be a little dry at first but this is a temporary tradeoff. Wait 2 hours then moisturize.
9. KEEP THY SMOOTH SKIN FREE!
At least for the first day or two, try to avoid tight fitting clothing around the Adam’s apple (neck) and/or below the waistline region. Newly shaved hair follicles need room to grow up.
10. REMEMBER TO EXFOLIATE!
Whether you shave, sugar, wax or epilate, not enough exfoliation to remove excess layers of skin can lead to ingrown hairs. There are two types: chemical exfoliation (AHA, BHAs) and physical exfoliation (beads, coffee scrubs, gloves, brushes). Exfoliators like the WIZKER brush have soft and firm bristles. When you follow these 10 tips religiously, you’ll prevent razor bumps and ingrown hairs permanently!
Forget gels, foams. Bar soaps is the thing to use.
With gels and foams it takes me close to 15 minutes to shave. With soap? About 9 minutes
Can we use like coconut oil on the oil application part? 🤔...well I'm going to try it 😂
Fabian Velasquez Try olive oil or Aloe Vera Gel. Both give great shaves. Wash your face then apply either. Use a cold water rinsed blade. Warm or hot water will open pores that's how guys get cuts and blemishes.
Thanks, dad.
That haircut/style looks dope, could you do a tutorial of that haircut/style. Thanks :D
Stay tuned for this Sunday's new video ;)

Can you shave upwards?
Does an electric shave do a better and quicker job and you can shave most any where even while you are surfing the web. Great info. For a smoother shave any thing with super lube to make your face nice and smooth? I have even tried k-Y lube ha ha ha
The ad on this video was hilarious
Is no one going to mention that Bit City music?
For people with coarse facial hair such as myself, DO NOT go against the grain or use a 5 blade razor. You'll only give yourself nasty ingrown hairs
what am I supposed to use besides a 5 blade razor then?
@@nickstollard6205 use a safety razor and learn how to wet shave like your grandpa did. Multiple blades going on your skin isn't good. With a safety razor it's 1 blade, 1 pass. A traditional 3 pass shave is with the grain on the first pass, across the grain on the 2nd pass and either against the grain or across the grain in the opposite direction on your last pass.
