Good video as usual. I really enjoy your videos about our rail network. There are a lot of good information and A LOT of stuff I didn't know. :) However, MTR Tunnelbana only drives the trains (and repairs them) and make sure stations are clean and functioning. Rail tracks are repaired and maintained by Strukton. But the rail track system is also old. It is not MTRs fault (or any other operator that have or will be operating the metro in the future) when there is a failure in the signal system or the rail tracks. Also there is a difference between commuter trains and metro trains. We metro train drivers do not have the problem commuter train drivers had last year and we are in general happy :) Also that decision was not made by MTR Pendeltåg. It was a political decision. Any operator would face the same problem if such a big change would occur. It is not only the commuter rail though that lost or will lose their onboard staff. Roslagsbanan face the same political decision.
That's a fair point - some things are just under the operators' control. I guess there's always more things to improve in my research, so I'm happy that you could supply additional points like these! Cheers, and let's hope subway drivers can keep happy in the future as well :D
This really is just a case of MTR being completely thrown out after their debocle with the SL comuter trains 2023. Never have there been a time where trains would be cancelled so suddenly at such a massive scale, what other company had a consistenly above 25% departures canceled.
Go-Ahead took over the Norwegian railway line Sørlandsbanen just a few years ago. It’s now been decided that the state owned Vy will be taking it back in 2027. That says something.
GoAhead haven’t done a superb job in Norway either. I’m just glad MTR is gone, from both Mälartåg and the commuter trains. And soon the subway. One less Chinese company in Sweden is just good overall.
Why doesn't Stockholm run its own Metro? Is this due to yet more EU interference? It is very time consuming and wasteful putting operation out to contract every few years. The staff already know how to run the system so just employ them. I like your stations.
I really don't know, but I'd imagine that it's because they lack the competence themselves. I imagine that they have knowledge about the subways but not about operations and maintenance(?) Or yeah, it could be EU regulations too. Or maybe they're just lazy and want to outsource things...
The Boston MBTA recently finally removed most of its subway slow zones (for one line the first time in 15 years!) after a new manager named Philip Eng joined. But all that work this year might go out the door... The city is about to head to a fisical cliff with existing debt and reduced transport funding from this upcoming presidency 😢
Haha, maybe they are actually. But I thought they had some French roots. Which might not be better come to think of it. But they should've been more keen on strikes in that case ;D
@@ThreeStarVagabondIndeed It Isn’t better… It really is concerning that Trafikförvaltningen/SL chooses companies that aren’t based in Sweden, especially from a security perspective. From my point of view, it’s unlikely that Go-Ahead Group and ComfortDelGro-operating under the brand “Connecting Stockholm”-will be any better. One of these companies is based in the UK and the other in Singapore, and both have faced serious criticism recently, as you mentioned in the video. One of the saddest aspects of this situation is that the workers might end up in even worse conditions than they already face.
Go ahead and take the bus instead 🤷♀️ , public transport is a bit hit and miss the world over. But I have to agree with the train drivers there does need to be additional staff either on the trains or in the station. Central Station in Stockholm, it's very overwhelming (I get confused easily), but Paris Gar du Nord, I am sure, has 2 time zones, complete nightmare. Clearly I need to come back and see the art especially.
Bus is...actually pretty okay. But the subway is really fast and convenient, so it's hard to ignore it completely! But yeah, the art does make it a bit of an experience really

It seems that all of northern and western Europe has gone backwards ..it used to be the progressive part of the world. I researched protests in Sweden in the early 1900s... There were like 6,000 strikes ,protests, and manifestations in the Early 1900s.. that's a lot for how low the population was then.. after that. Sweden was on the upward swing for the economy and rights...but now things aren't going well..the train drivers being treated badly.. that's terrible.
Agreed! There's a lot of unhappiness going around these days - and I'm not sure if strikes are even working or helping. It's a rough situation for many occupations (not just train drivers), and I just hope that things will improve once the economic situation improves.
@ThreeStarVagabond During that time in the early 1900s some strikes were accompanied by violence.. The military came in and shot and killed some strikers after they had allready won .. This was in Sweden..... after the left center party dominated for many years there was agreements to not have strikes as long as everything was fair.. this is stuff i read ..but probably you know more growing up there.. In my country there was so much violence accompanied by the striking to get our rights as in work and civil rghts.. now it could be all over as January 21 arrives with the 🍊 man taking the charge

Yeah I did find it pretty funny that MTR had no plans to object to the decision. It's almost like they understand how distrusted they are
It should be noted that MTR didn't say that the "tågvärdar" should go. They just enforced what the politicians decided.
They did it poorly though.
That's a fair point!
So.. There were secret reasonings for the secrecy.. Great.. So much trust..
Haha exactly! Really inspires confidence
Go-Ahead took over the Norwegian railway line Sørlandsbanen just a few years ago. It’s now been decided that the state owned Vy will be taking it back in 2027. That says something.
Damn. I think my fears might not be completely unfounded...
GoAhead haven’t done a superb job in Norway either. I’m just glad MTR is gone, from both Mälartåg and the commuter trains. And soon the subway. One less Chinese company in Sweden is just good overall.
Yeah one step in the right direction! Sorry about GoAhead over there though! 😅
There are 7 subway lines but 3 colors. Line 10, 11 (blue) 13,14 (red) 17, 18, 19 (green)
Technically true of course! I prefer to see it as the "red line" etc still.
Oof! Seems like there are more places where public transport isn't exactly going in the right direction :/
3:34 Hmmmm, you sure MTR isn't a British company? Sounds like the sort of excuses that catch out our train operators every single year.
Haha, maybe they are actually. But I thought they had some French roots. Which might not be better come to think of it. But they should've been more keen on strikes in that case ;D
@@ThreeStarVagabond No, they have roots in Hong Kong...
Sorry! Yes you're right! And that isn't really better...
It's the TFL of Hong Kong.
@@ThreeStarVagabondIndeed It Isn’t better…
It really is concerning that Trafikförvaltningen/SL chooses companies that aren’t based in Sweden, especially from a security perspective. From my point of view, it’s unlikely that Go-Ahead Group and ComfortDelGro-operating under the brand “Connecting Stockholm”-will be any better. One of these companies is based in the UK and the other in Singapore, and both have faced serious criticism recently, as you mentioned in the video.
One of the saddest aspects of this situation is that the workers might end up in even worse conditions than they already face.
yeah, guess why i dont use the kollektivtrafik in stovkholm, my private vehikle is more reliant than any damm kollektivtrafic, and cheeper also.
Mine too, but I won't be able to use my electric scooter soon, when the winter rain and/or snow starts :/
Got ambushed and robbed twice in one year there recently, not by Swedes obviously. Whatever happens to infrastructure or whatever is nothing compared to the Swedish situation.
Ouch... Well that's definitely more worrying than just the operations
Go Ahead. In the words of a popular British sitcom character - you're doomed! Marooned and doomed.
NoooOooooOoo!!!
Happy to have moved away from that city! 😅
I'll have to live with the potential mess instead! ^^
6:06 top right Beagle Boys reference!
Haha! Yes! Or just possibly a city bus line. But I like your interpretation better :D
We avid subscribers just don't want you to lose any sleep over the politics of the incoming management Company. I didn't hear anything about raising fares, that may be the most immediate change, eh ??
To be honest I wasn't even thinking of that, because there's ALWAYS so many price hikes in public transport. Seems like they raise prices every year
Hi @threestarvagabond I want to buy and sell from Swedish Snus manufacturers
please can you make video about Swedish Snus pouches. And how can I from a another country get in touch with Swedish manufacturers
I'll think about it - but I'm really not a tobacco using person myself so I have to do a lot of research. And well... Not sure at all. I guess through their websites?
@ hi brother not tobacco nicotine pouches or Suns like white fox , Velo, Siberia… etc but maybe you are right nicotine and tobacco’s could be the same thing… I just need to get in touch with anyone from the manufacturers like Swedish match or others and chat with them because in order to do business we need to have business permits from our own countries . And to request this we need to have the company product details, like company registration certificate for GCC countries. What type of product they make with who they do business.… etc.
Thank you for understanding and most importantly you have great day 🫶
@@IssamBalushi-f1h Yeah, that's something you need to contact respective company about - not a random youtuber ;)
@@ThreeStarVagabond hi dear I actually did contact Swedish match but no reply from them, and travelling from middle east to Sweden is very expensive brother.. That is why I was hoping you could do a video about Swedish Snus... Anyway I understand if you can't but if you ever find any lead or information please let me know... Have great day my friend and sorry if I bothered you or something. Love your channel and your country Sweden.
@@ThreeStarVagabond I did contact Swedish match but unfortunately no reply yet from anyone.. No idea why and travelling from middle east to Sweden is very expensive brother.
@@nathanpattee1629 Yeah we had to learn about "skotten i Ådalen" and other events in school. It's all a bit ancient for us though, since so much has changed since then. But it's good to read up on it at times. And heh yeah, let's just see how fun these coming four years will be eh!

Basic political shit. I hope thet they don´t screw all things up operating in tunnelbana. It used to be very accurate system long time ago. Haven´t used public transportation in Stockholm area since december 2015.
That's quite some time ago! But yeah things have really gone downhill (even though I seem to recall that the blue line was closed a lot due to building Tvärbanan back then).
@@ThreeStarVagabond Hmm... Does the blue line go to Rinkeby and Tensta (i might remember wrong)? We went to visit Tensta at Christmas Day or day before that. At least then we went there from T-Centra (if i remember right) with tunnelbana.
Yeah one part of the blue line goes there - the other goes via Solna / Kista etc. I think it was closed around summer 2015 or so. Or maybe 2013-2014 or so. I lived in Solna then and I remember having to take bus instead.
