2nd part of the Weekend hot mess Q! Took the "shuttle" back from Coney Island to Prospect Park and spoiler it took ALMOST THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME as the "EXPRESS" Q! Lame.
Yup, Newkirk Plaza was only named as such since 2011. From 1908 to 2011, the station was called Newkirk Avenue. But the station's original name before then was South Midwood. The name was changed to Newkirk Plaza to reflect the mall there as part of the station's reconstruction after it was listed as one of the 69 (obligatory nice) most deteriorated stations in the system.
Wow..cool facts, I rode the D(local) and Q(express) back in the day to get to high school and college. Now that you mentioned it I do recall the station being named Newkirk Avenue. I love taking the B express to Brighton Beach when I need to take my mom to her appointments in Brighton Beach.

Also, I need to get a ride on that shuttle. 8:13 That's very normal for a lot of trains at terminals. It's just so train operators don't have to go slow over the switches, and so when the train departs the terminal, it departs faster than slower. 8:46 That's only because there was a work train there, but that still happens when if a train wasn't there.
Wait.. "it took the same amount of time as the express (Q)!" That's because the Shuttle is local on Brighton. And also because it's following the (Q)'s route to Prospect Park. It isn't gonna go express because people still need to get off/on at the local stops. And because the Franklin (S)huttle was waiting too long, but that's only because, like you said, the nice conductor was waiting for the connecting shuttle. Unlike that other one 😒
9:32 You are correct. That's the late night Lefferts shuttle. It runs from 12-6am when the (A) just goes to Far Rock, and runs between Lefferts and Euclid.
You should also ride the extended Rock-away Beach shuttle, and the express Q via West End (The D line; how it gets back to Manhattan)
Yeah....you gotta do the weekend extended Rockaway (S) up to (or from) Rockaway Blvd.
Starting at Coney Island, the Q will be running express via West End on the D Line so maybe another suggestions for a video or just in general, like between the D, N, Q on normal scheduling, which one gets you to Coney Island faster considering all of them are available at the Barclays. Nice vid!
Hello Suprtoe I want to make a suggestion if you make a part 3 , First start at Atlantic Av - Barcleys Center take the R to 9th St then Take The G to Church Avenue, Then Take The F To West 8 st, If your lucky enough you can catch and Orange S train. By the Way The blue S train Runs From Euclid Av to Leffards Blvd From 11 PM - 6 AM.
It’s weird transferring from a shuttle train to another shuttle train, it’s rare too

ONE DAY
Hey supertoe! I’m here to request that you go somewhere out of NYC. In Lake Hopactong, which is in NJ, there is a huge line of abandoned locomotives that are so cool to explore. When you get off the train at Lake Hopactong, simply walk to the west end of the station and keep walking until you see a siding. On that siding, you will see an old abandoned tower. Follow that track and it will take you to the abandoned engines. Trust me, it’s worth the trip!
Those abandoned locomotives could be I believe ALP-44s
There’s a single blue S sign, the rest are the regular gray, on one of the Franklin shuttle cars. I think it’s still there, I saw it at the beginning January and the end of April. Keep an eye out for it next time you’re on it.

As a New Yorker I appreciate these videos beause it is fun to see someone else ride the subways from home..lol. I like the express trains because I am spoiled by the #4,#5, B,and A trains. These videos remind me the other lines I seldom use but appreciate as being part of our transit system.
The q to Manhattan went via the d line from Coney Island to 59 street

Hi supertoe, love your vids. For the next WTN can you do the W train from Whitehall to Rector street, then the 1 train at rector street to 14 street, then the 3 train to 72 street,, the M104 to 76 street on broadway, then finally, walk to the M5 on riverside drive and take it to west 73 street. I know it’s a lot, but I think it’d be really fun to do. Thanks!

Go Go Supertoe for whatever reason The J is Not going to Jamaica for the summer. It stops at 121st instead. The have a free bus that goes to Jamaica tho that follows the E line
How do you not know? Lol. The (J) isn't going to Jamaica Center because of them replacing the tracks. You could also see the MTA website to see the info.
