I didnt experienced Rancho, Missisippi, New England and Revontuli yet. But outside of those. Here are my favorites; 1- Medved Taiga Guys you can't imagine how easy to position yourself and how easy to deploy tents, blinds, tripods on frozen lakes. Medved is the most comfortable map imo. Also, in terms of drinking hours it's the best. It has 8 species, 7 of'em come to drink. And 7 of 'em making a all day cycle only Lynxes and Reindeers came across for 2 hours (30 mins irl) . Also, white ground and background makes animal spotting easier. And cuz of whiteness of the map, if you have full moon at night, you dont even need nightvision googles at all. Also in terms of money making .Wolves, Bears and Lynxes gives lots of money. And for Reindeer and Mooses, they're the 2nd and 3rd most money making deers (after Red Deer ofc) . Also, there is a rough "survival theme" beauty in it. You feel like you hunt for your life, not hunting as doin sports u know. Also, I love aggressive animals, it brings that survival mechanics and thrill to the game. And in this map. Wolves will attack you, occasionally Mooses will attack you, if you spook'em from close distances Bears and Boars will wanna tear you apart. And still you're gonna get murdered by Western Caper more than others. It's a map with full with aggressive , attacking animals. I love Medved. It's my first DLC map . Only thing I would've want for Medved 2 more species and my picks are Wolverines and Snow Sheeps. That would bring 1 more herd animal and 1 more solo predator and it would make perfect sense for me. As a DLC it's weak, it aint give you any fancy weapon , also missions/story of it not great either but as a reserve. It's super for level grinding early on and then later it's great for money grinding. tent between lakes, tripods over lakes and just go wild and hunting spree. 2- Silver Ridge Peaks It's the most beutiful and fresh looking map. It doesnt have a lot of species. But the species that the reserve have are just bursting out of the grass. So much animal, so much need zone. Also, it's nice for making loadouts. Cuz of there is no level 2 or level 3 animal. You dont need any 223 or 243 or mosin rifle. Just one 4 to 8 or 4 to 9 rifle will be enough for you to grind almost anything (except Turkey and Bison). Or better combo will be a .22 rifle/pistol a 4-8 rifle and a 7-9 (or 4-9) rifle and you're done. The only downside of it, there are so many empty land that you're never gonna use or visit. U're generally either at southeast half of the map or northwest. And occasionally northeast. Center of it almost dead, southwest of it almost dead. So it feels a bit stucked. But other than that, It's amazing. ------------------------------ I'm so sure about my top 2 but I'm really confused about the rest, 3 - Cuatro Colinas / Te Awaroa I take this 2 together cuz they're similar. Both maps includes animal species that class 1 to 6. So its a small and mid game maps. Both map good for grinding, good for beginners and good for lower power loadouts. Both maps gives you amazing 4 to 8 rifles. There is only 3 key difference between'em imo. a- Cuatro Colinas feels more "hand-made" , it's closer to civilazation roots. Te Awaroa gives you more wild and egzotic vibes. Both map looks beautiful but this thematic difference might be important for some players. b- Te Awaroa offers better small game options. It has rabbits, ducks, turkeys. For CC there are only pheasants and hares. Also Te Awaroa gives you better "class 3" animal options. Chamois and Feral Goats are traveling with big herds on the other hand for CC only class 3 animal is Roe Deer and they're spread around all map. They're everywhere but not in big groups and there aint any other class 3 alternative. c- In terms of mid game animals, both have almost same amount of class 4 and the biggest animal in both maps are Red Deers. And both maps good for grinding them (Awaroa a bit better). But Cuatro has Wolves. Wolves and Red Deers are the most money making herd/pack animals in the game and Cuatro has both of'em. So for better small game -> Te Awaroa For better Red Deer Grind -> Te Awaroa For more wild and jungle feeling -> Te Awaroa For better overall money -> Cuatro Colinas For more organised looking reserve -> Cuatro Colinas For having more species in total -> Cuatro Colinas ---------------------------------------------------------------- 4- Yukon Valley Yes lakes are either too big or too small it's hard for positioning and grinding and also yes, not many animals and yes it's mostly mid to big game not much variety. But man... Yukon is a beauty, weather changes here most drastically than any other map. It makes the map more alive. All animals in the reserve are fun to hunt . Need zones and hot spots are easy to access. Yes it needs some tents to make the map more accessable but still a fun and beautiful looking map. And in terms of DLC value, I mean c'mon this is the DLC that you get .300 Magnum ?!? BUY YUKON ! 5- Layton Lakes: Good variety of animals, you have almost everything you need. There are 3 Great One making species on it. Need zones so accessible, animals are easy to find and locate compare to Hirschfelden. Also it's a fine looking map. You have a free Hunter Cabin over there , so it's the best Non-DLC reserve imo. 6- Vurhonga Savanna and Parque Fernando I take'em together cuz they have similar variety for animals. Both of'em have 1 big cat and 1 big class 9 buffalo. Both of the map have egzotic animals that special to that map ony (Blackbuck, Axis, Springbok,Gemsboks) Both have 1 species of duck for occasional waterfowl hunt. But both of'em have a hard map. The land on Parque it's always goes up and down , up and down. Very few flat , open fields . Also lakes are too big and too disformed to position yourself . And it's hard to collect your hunts cuz of these conditions. Also in terms of weather conditions, Parque has one of the worst vision in the game. It's a very green thick map and add a dense fog or heavy rains on it. And for Savanna it's the least realistic looking among any CotW maps imo. Botanics, animals, the topography of the map not realistic at all. You're expecting that Savanna should have endless, vast open flat fields to the Horizon, right ? No man, Layton Lakes, Silver Ridge, Medved, Cuatro has far better vast open fields to gaze upon on. Also, class system really questionable on Savanna. How Gemsboks 2 tier higher than Wildebeests while they're in the same weight class ? Or how Lions are 9 while 8 class animal Moose 2-3 times heavier and 3-4 times bigger than 'em ? Another problem with Savanna is ; the 1/4 of the map (From west) and the center of the map are literally dead zones. So you're mostly restricted to 5-6 lakes at east-center of the map and river coast at North, east, south. For a huge map, it feels super empty and that's Africa ? It supposed to be the most crowded and vast wild-lifie biome. Fernando feels more alive and energetic than Savanna but tracking, looting , positioning in short movement in parque is the worst among all maps. You needs dozens of tents and blinds to make it enjoyable imo. --------------------------- 7- Hirschfelden Hirschfelden great looking map with good variety of animals imo. Nothing unique to there but you have a bir from almost anything. Also not having any predator makes the grind smoother. Then what's the problem with Hirsch ? Imo there are 2 major problem; a - It's one of the biggest map (if not the biggest) in the game but contrary to that it has the least amount of animal. So hunting is a challenge here. So it should be a beginner map but actually it's a masterclass map. That contradiction ruins it's value imo. b- Terrible layout of needzones and outposts. It's the most "walking simulation" map in the game. Cuz , need zones weirdly placed and outpost generally not good for accessing'em. So in general it's not bad as people says, but cuz beginners start playing here and it sucks for beginners it has a bad reputation. Actually once you learn the game and once you operate with tents Hİrch become a delight imo. If you want challenging, realistic gameplay then skip Hirsch at beginner level. Dont grind levels or money there. And once you're good then come back to Hirsch and you'll see that it's the most "hunting" map on the game. I hope this reviews will be helpful for new players or possible DLC buyers.
To be fair, the class of the animals is probably not only related to weight and size. A lion is indeed smaller than a moose or a buffalo but they are known to be able to down a buffalo, alone. And drag the carcass across rivers and etc. They are misleadingly powerful for their size, even if you consider them big animals.
New england > Layton its just a big moose white tail farm with more birds and no black tail. Plus you just have to walk that long river bed at any time and will get mad success finding drinking and feed zones.
Wow, my FAVORITE map is Rancho. I love it for the selection they have, from a variety of fun birds, small-medium critters, a Cuatro-esq map with a more desert feel... and the outposts are my favorite. It's in need of a little tlc, but the feelings and setting make me feel comfy, and there's always something close to hunt! My first two dlc maps were Te Awaroa and Cuatro Colinas! S- Revontuli, Yukon, Rancho A- Emerald, Cuatro Colinas, Te Awaroa B- Layton, Medved, SR Peaks C- Vurhonga, NE Mount, Parque D- Hirschfelden F- Mississipi
I would move Revontuli Coast to the S tier. Almost EVERY SINGLE lake has whitetail drink zones, the only ones that don't have them are the southern ones. They wouldn't even be good because they are so massive, + even though I don't like waterfowl hunting it really made me enjoy it with birds flying above you every minute, there are tons of moose and just overall it's a great map. S tier for me
I’ll put Vurhonga savannah in S. The only map with unique species you only can find there. In my opinion the best campaign missions in the game and definitely one of the more challenging maps.
@@Gruntlywhich maps have you played so far since 5 months ago? Hirsch was my first map back in 2015 and Layton lake was later, didn’t know I was supposed to do Layton first since it has moose and larger animals you need bigger guns for (which were not easy to get when there was almost no dlc for the game but base kit that took a lot of grinding to obtain. Now people can just buy dlc guns and since they’re free that way it’s much easier).

Thank you for sharing your list. My regions I hunt exclusively are all S tier, Layton, Yukon, and Vuronga Savanah. I bought New England Mountains because I live there. I do not hunt regions that have duplicate animals. I do not like animals with stubby antlers like Roe Deer. Not interested in hunting Great Ones. Finally, enough with every zone having rabbits!
My favourite map so far is Revontuli, but it's the only I've one played beyond Hirschfelden (I just started this week). I feel Revontuli is so much easier for a beginner like me to learn the game's systems and I'm enjoying it much more than the former. Still need to try Layton and Silver Ridge, heard good things.
Genuinely I'd like a *Hunter Pest Control* mode where say there are 30 hogs destroying a park and you have to eradicate them. Or maybe a Ranger doing a cull so you have to only kill specific criteria.
Alligator in mississippi acres also had bad alligator models that's my issue because gators are never green or brown they are black with a tan under belly maybe grey instead of black but even then taking that time to change it and maybe add a little more piebald variation people will love alligators and also believe it or not alligators don't have as good of senses as shown in the game which is why it's so difficult to hunt them plus and i know i have to bring this up.... wood duck it's a species i've wanted for so long in COTW and mississippi brought hope but no we get green winged teal and even if you hunt them it's difficult plus i stopped playing because of hunting waterfowl because everytime i kill a certain amount they never respawn.
If you had an 'E' then rancho should be on it, that alone earned a like! Good call on Hirch, the missions are toxic though!. Small game hunting sucks in all maps. Decent list.
Definitely a video based on preferences. If I had to agree or disagree, I'd disagree with some of these. S. Yukon, silver ridge, vurhonga, and soon to be emerald coast
A. Layton, medved, revontuli
B. Parque, New England, rancho
C. Mississippi, Te awaroa
D. Hirsefelden, cuatro
Not too bad a list at all. A bit different to mine but still respectable!
How does anyone prefare cuatro for red deer over te awaroa
Ahahahha I don't know but I love it!
Mississippi in game is exactly like it is in real life, it sucks
Well, that's not ideal
Do guns next
Now that's a good idea
Bro these dlc have unique animals ?? Or they are just maps ?
Missipi has the best story my personal opinion
I agree on a lot but te awaroa up to A but that’s my opinion 😊😂😂
What's your favourite animal to hunt on Te Awaroa? It's a good choice
Farel pig and red deer
My favourite map has to be srp
do you still play way of the hunter
A little! I want to start again though. I was actually doing some research on the game last night
@@Gruntly ok thanks
Herschfelden is a imo terrible spelling ik
Layton is boring as fuck, honestly.
For free stuff, more enjoying Hirschfelden…
