What is your biggest professional blunder?
Damn dude you are learning and doing great. Congrats. I hope it keeps growing. You should not even look one version ahead. You should be jumping to ver. 8.0. 😂😂😂
Hey man I’m from the 717 also!! You don’t have physical store right?
Really appreciate the transparency with your ups and downs. I shifted to buying primarily from entertainment earth to nerdzoic in the last 6-12 mos and haven’t looked back since. Keep up the good work!
I did the same after i found out they do pay up front preorders. I really like that.
I’m giving it a try. I liked this video and he seems like a very upfront guy.
Entertainment earth...cancelled pre orders. Multiple times. Done
Omg. I hate funkos...never got why they Seemed so popular...along with wrestling
@@miragexl007 I can see why wrestling could be popular to some. The storylines etc.. Its drama and is humans love drama. So the toyline makes sense to me. The Funko though I don’t know.
I love the behind the scenes videos. Your transparency (especially in this business) is extremely admirable. Wish you all of the very best! :)
A good buddy of mine runs a business like yours and I've seen some of his growing pains. But I appreciate you walking through yours.
Thanks for this vid, Matt! I'm in the process of starting my own AF shop (online to start) and while I'm T-E-R-R-I-F-I-E-D (before & a little more after watching this vid), I'm very much inspired will be taking what you've presented here to heart as I go forward with my shop. Thanks a million, man..hope to meet you down the road at a con in PA!
I was going to crack wise about Mrs Nerdy being an expert on box sizes but watching this video all the way through to the end I'm amazed by the level of work you guys need to put in to keep the store running, well done, respect.
Thank you for sharing this information. It's super helpful to get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into operating a toy store.
I love “behind the curtain” videos, and this was really cool and informative!
What a great video, really liked the inside view on an independent figures store. It's really wild how much stuff you learned and overcomed.
Great video Matt! As a small business owner I learned a lot with this video! Congratulations on your store love seeing the success!
I love this video, it combines my two loves - toys and continuous improvement - I am black belt certified in Lean Six Sigma. And the way you described your the changes to your shipping process is awesome. You described the single piece flow vs. batching, the layout of your shipping table is part of 5s methodology. Man I would love to talk about this stuff with you.
Thanks for the fascinating behind-the-scenes look! I love hearing about your toy store. Glad to see it doing so well :)
I never thought about all the small details that goes into running your own toy store. I found it quite informative.
Sounds like a lot goes into running an action figure store. A lot of things to keep in mind. It’s not like buy toys, appreciate them, and wait for money to roll in. Hearing this I’ll just remain a collector with a few occasional sales on EBay.
8:20 I used that exact table for a shipping setup I made for a company I use to work for. It was fantastic.
Such great content showing the other side of running a toy store. Thank you
No one can pack a package like Mrs. Nerdy! I have told other collectors in my area, that it doesn't matter how the box looks when I get it, I know it is safe because how it is packed.
Nerdzoic for the win!
Very appreciative of the sort of behind the scenes of your shop, love ordering from you because of that and you're also close by, which means orders show up quicker than if I ordered from a different site.
One thing I have noticed in collecting is this huge divide between wrestling and other action figure, Only a few people I am aware of collect outside the regular wrestling figs and it almost seems like Ringside collectables has near monopoly on them. I'm such a cherry picker with wrestling it isn't a huge deal to me though. Still I always found it odd.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS VIDEO, because there is a lot of things that go into a business that a majority of us do not know. The flood hurts me the most because I remember when you posted the video. I wish the VERY BEST for your business, the Nerdzoic family!
I still find it funny how you spliced two boxes together to ship me my Gen Select Omega Supreme. Came in unharmed and thats all that matters to me.
I love this, so insightful as to the inner-workings of the business
WoW this really was 1 of the coolest videos I’ve ever seen. You truly let us in on all the ups and downs owning and starting a small business 👍🏼👍🏼 Great Work!!! I wish you guys all the success in the world 💰💰💰
I came into the store late when you had the McFarlane toyline lol I fully understand the reasons for not carrying them. Hope to see them return. Love your videos!
One of your best videos ever. Thank u so much for sharing. Greatings from Peru!
Thank you for the insight on action figure business management. Its great to see content that is real deal. We live and we learn, right?. We're only human. But experience makes us wiser. Hope things get balanced. 👍
This was a fascinating insight into your business! I wish you all the success into the future my friend!
Thanks for posting this. I resently started selling collectable toys on ebay to support my collection habbits. Oddly enough, my model is centered around flipping retail overstock of exclusive funko product (never commons; those are worthless unless vaulted). I buy on clearance from major retailers and sell at or under msrp mostly to collectors overseas.
As my inventory and sales grow I am having a lot of the same struggles you are describing here. I'm taking a lot away from this video. Thank you!
Great video! Love the transparency!
I ran a locksmith business for 25 years. I know your pain. Especially in the first year of operations.
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.
Good to see you post, its been a bit.
Great Video Matt love the bts videos your store is Amazing been finding myself ordering more from you then others my next few purchases will be neca 2pk wingnut/screwloose,Invisible Don, and Bat Gremlin. Keep up the Awesome job
Wow! I love vids like this. Thanks for the info!
Great video! Thank you for posting.
Pure wisdom brotha🔥🔥🔥
Great video. Really interesting to her about your journey. Wish you continued success with your business and channel.
Thank you for making this
This just might be my favourite channel in RUclips... And I don't even collect toys.
Love this video big nerdy!!! I was always curious about one subject, how do you supply your business? Is it hard to find suppliers and what’s the hardest part about buying figures in bulk from suppliers? Thank you
Your channel and that ghostrider got me into collecting haha it’s been a snowball ever since
Your videos are always like watching a favorite TV show.
Agreed.
Really fascinating video. Thanks for sharing.
Like ur style...very down to earth. Have wanted to start selling for a while, and you're alot like me. Thanks for your "real life" style
Man! I was gonna set up my own online shop, but foeget it now😅. Great video!🔥👍👍
Keep up the good work man
You should get into SooSootoys or any 3rd party 1/6 figures. I know theyre often very limited and sell quick and once they do they go up in price.
How does it work with the pre-orders that you have on the website that other companies have in but you haven't received in your store yet
Would love to get an update video on your Collection.
When it comes to wrestling figures, you can't go wrong with Undertaker...those do sell way better than the others
Hang in there sir I enjoy your content I learn a lot
I've heard that Funko is a death trap for retailers
Wise guy got his face skinny the good, the bad and ugly no mock up😢. That must have taken tremendous technical skill. And cost a fortune ❤😂
Great insights!
Thank you to show us thé behind thé scène reality
This video is amaaaaaaazing thanks nerd 🎉
I know this video is old, so my advice may be too late; but I HIGHLY recommend NOT carrying Super7’s products. Their QC is so bad that if you order from BBTS, and there’s a QC issue, they just send you a new one (while noting it may not be better than what you have) or refund you outright. And with both options, they don’t ask you to send the initial orders back, or destroy them.
One word opps
(Gasp): Oh wow, the mistakes you made! But you worked at a warehouse before! What the…?!
Well, glad you’ve snap out of it and learn from your previous work experience.
-The Disneyland Neighbor
Interesting stuff. I wonder if at some point you could use AI hooked up to cameras to grade figures/packages, saving you some time.
Cool vid buddy, subbed ✌✌
I really love this video’s
Not feeling the overuse of the term “ghetto” big Nerdy
Growing Pains Big Nerdy. This is and event not failures on your part...
I purchase the Neca armored ronin from you for a good price. Love the cool packing tape
Unrecognized revenue that is a fun one in accounting.
You need to switch to bubble wrap sleeves. I think the 9x12 ones fit black series, legends, WWE elites, etc perfectly. I calculated the cost compared to bubble wrap and it was about the same.
Last I checked it was almost an addition $1 per figure vs a few cents for bubble wrap. If u know somewhere cheaper email me!
Wow. You make me feel so much better about my business practices...lol...
I used to like funkos but they just did too many licenses and lost focus. They also end up taking too much space when you get too many. Had to cut them out
Where did you get the shirt?
LoL I've not bought any funko pops to this day. Never really saw the appeal of them.
I liked them for licenses that have very little to nothing out there . I know thats not much but their sculpting got much better.
Would love to hear Matt's opinion about BBTS right now. They seem to be having a sale every day. The other day they had a Black Series Andor preorder up at 50 percent off. Not sure if I should be worried about my preorders or not.
I wouldn't worry too much about BBTS. They seem to be just clearing old inventory (Spring cleaning if you will). Their sale items do not even qualify for their POL system and have to be shipped immediately. As for the Andor figure, they probably bought clearance stock and are selling them at clearance too (with a markup). Nerdzoic does that too.
I wouldn’t worry at all about BBTS. From what I see, they are rock solid financially. Reading the tea leaves though it seems like they are running into space issues though and it is probably cheaper for them to clear out older “dead” inventory than increase their warehouse size.
@jeremiahjordan4422 💯 spot on!
Great vid boss
Great video. New sub. 👍
The supplier for mcfarlane toys was very strict, our business worked hard to qualify by referees etc in the end we got it but ordered only once and never again. again..mcfarlane
How much is your shipping?
You rule, going over to buy some of your wares now.
Just ordered some fuego figs. Gracias
Watching some of your vids and other general know how - so if your profit margin ends up, what, 5%+- per item (going by Hasbro at least?) and having to front the case cost - how do you stay afloat really?
I always thought that MSRP was for stores to sell at while their inventory costs end up half or less than of that, but clearly that's not the case, and not running an absolutely huge volume - how do you guys really make money?
And all of that aside, packaging since I know no one really charges handling anymore with the shipping to stays competitive.
is nerd zoic an online only store or is there a physical location
Do u ship to New Zealand yet Big N
Wow
THIS IS WAY,THERE ARE PEPOLE LIKE YOU ALL,I MEAN PEPOLE THAT ARE GREAT ENOUGH TO GET THE JOB DONE,OTHER WISE,PEPOLE LIKE ME,SITTING HERE ORDERING THINGS WOULD BE OUT OF LUCK.! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!😁!!!
Your audience needs to watch more wrestling! Besides me, of course, cause I watch too much already. Nerd World Order 4 Life!
Sad wrestling and Funko pop fan noises
I'm a subscriber and a customer.
still no international shipping.........🙃
Funkos and wrestling....ughh. never understood it. Man, your bigger than i thiught
I drive delivery and you are right on target with the fragile stickers. There just something about part-time package handlers. The fact that they are part-time adults that have no respect for anyone else's property.
it's part of running & owning a business. mistakes will be made it's all in the process in learning & growing of the company
Why didn't you show the Black panther kitty???
Hello...big fan from India... any possibility you would be interested to extend business in India... here we have hard-core collectors as well but action figure shopping options are minimal.
