Compostela calls: LYRICS. ************************ And yet the joy outweighs all the pain, In every smile, and through sun and rain, For every friend who walked by my side, Their memory shines, like stars in the sky. For every step beneath the wide blue sky, For every sunrise, that caught my eye, The Camino’s gift, is not the end we see, But the journey within, and who we’ve come to be. I pick up my bag, and leave work far behind, With a pilgrim’s staff in hand, like in medieval times. I’m counting the days, soon I’ll be on my way, The call of the path, leading stars all the way. From all paths of life and from lands far and wide Some start in the dawn, others under night skies, The blessing received as we leave Le Puy, One last farewell, and on the road we fly. Compostela calls, and the journey unfolds, My heart is open, on this ancient road, Each soul I meet walks beside me in trust, Onward and upward, where new horizons rise. Arriving at last in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, The Pyrenees rise, a challenge to explore. Dawn breaks at five, with Roland’s song in the air, A thousand suns blaze, Fisterra waits there. Now I'm in Spain, on the Camino Francés, Past mountains, through plains, golden fields embrace, Yellow arrows guide, through landscapes afar The sun at my side, as the road opens wide. Saint James calls on, and the journey reveals, My heart is open, where each footstep heals, Each soul I meet shares a step and a smile, Onward and upward, where dreams unwind. Roncesvalles, Zabaldika, Sahagún y Burgos, Spanish Meseta, Tierra de Campos, León, O Cebreiro, Hontanas y Sarria, Step by step, we march closer to Compostela Despite the blisters, the trials and the pain, We stood strong together, through sun and rain. I remember well, the pilgrims by my side, In my heart still, they quietly reside. There was Gérard, Xavier, Sister Lise, Greta, Marie, Monika, Yann, Chee, Micaéla Patrick, Bruno, Lila, Benedek, All moving forward, on the starry way. The crowded hostels, the shared donativos, What is ours we share, as the journey unfolds The shells on our bags, the stories we trade, In these simple joys, our happiness is made. What more can be said of this pilgrim's path, Of fountains of wine, and bocadillos. Of snoring at night, and morning goodbyes With heartfelt farewells that bring tears to our eyes. Compostela calls, the road lights the way, My heart is open, as the night turns day, With every soul, a lasting bond is formed, Onward and upward, where new horizons rise. Hanging up laundry, making up our beds, Stretching our limbs, bandaging what's bled. Jotting down the day, sharing meals with cheer Dreading the goodbyes, singing Ultreïa still. Flags wave in the breeze, the bagpipes play on, Credentials stamped, in cities and towns, Santiago awaits, the botafumeiro swings, Sweet sorrow fills us, as the farewell rings. Some small regrets, when chapels are closed, The temple’s merchants, the asphalty roads, Graffiti scarring the path, the zealots passing by, The race for beds, as crowds grow wide. Compostela calls, and the journey’s complete Our hearts have grown wide, like the evening star, Together we stand, with joy and surprise, Onward and upward, where new paths still arise. And yet the joy outweighs all the pain, In every smile, and through sun and rain, For every friend who walked by my side, Their memory shines, like stars in the sky. For every step beneath the wide blue sky, For every sunrise, that caught my eye, The Camino’s gift, is not the end we see, But the journey within, and who we’ve come to be. If you hesitate to start this walk, Listen to your heart, let the journey unfold, Thousands before us, all moved by this call, Trust in life’s flow, Come on, join us all. Buen Camino ! Buen Camino ! Compostela calls: LYRICS.
************************
And yet the joy outweighs all the pain,
In every smile, and through sun and rain,
For every friend who walked by my side,
Their memory shines, like stars in the sky.
For every step beneath the wide blue sky,
For every sunrise, that caught my eye,
The Camino’s gift, is not the end we see,
But the journey within, and who we’ve come to be.
I pick up my bag, and leave work far behind,
With a pilgrim’s staff in hand, like in medieval times.
I’m counting the days, soon I’ll be on my way,
The call of the path, leading stars all the way.
From all paths of life and from lands far and wide
Some start in the dawn, others under night skies,
The blessing received as we leave Le Puy,
One last farewell, and on the road we fly.
Compostela calls, and the journey unfolds,
My heart is open, on this ancient road,
Each soul I meet walks beside me in trust,
Onward and upward, where new horizons rise.
Arriving at last in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port,
The Pyrenees rise, a challenge to explore.
Dawn breaks at five, with Roland’s song in the air,
A thousand suns blaze, Fisterra waits there.
Now I'm in Spain, on the Camino Francés,
Past mountains, through plains, golden fields embrace,
Yellow arrows guide, through landscapes afar
The sun at my side, as the road opens wide.
Saint James calls on, and the journey reveals,
My heart is open, where each footstep heals,
Each soul I meet shares a step and a smile,
Onward and upward, where dreams unwind.
Roncesvalles, Zabaldika, Sahagún y Burgos,
Spanish Meseta, Tierra de Campos,
León, O Cebreiro, Hontanas y Sarria,
Step by step, we march closer to Compostela
Despite the blisters, the trials and the pain,
We stood strong together, through sun and rain.
I remember well, the pilgrims by my side,
In my heart still, they quietly reside.
There was Gérard, Xavier, Sister Lise, Greta,
Marie, Monika, Yann, Chee, Micaéla
Patrick, Bruno, Lila, Benedek,
All moving forward, on the starry way.

What is ours we share, as the journey unfolds
The shells on our bags, the stories we trade,
In these simple joys, our happiness is made.
What more can be said of this pilgrim's path,
Of fountains of wine, and bocadillos.
Of snoring at night, and morning goodbyes
With heartfelt farewells that bring tears to our eyes.

With every soul, a lasting bond is formed,
Onward and upward, where new horizons rise.
Hanging up laundry, making up our beds,
Stretching our limbs, bandaging what's bled.
Jotting down the day, sharing meals with cheer
Dreading the goodbyes, singing Ultreïa still.
Flags wave in the breeze, the bagpipes play on,

Sweet sorrow fills us, as the farewell rings.
Some small regrets, when chapels are closed,

Our hearts have grown wide, like the evening star,

But the journey within, and who we’ve come to be.
If you hesitate to start this walk,
Listen to your heart, let the journey unfold,
Thousands before us, all moved by this call,
Trust in life’s flow, Come on, join us all.
