    Its a song about a girl's expectations from when she was young. The perfect guy, a Christian "Jesus like" person that she has been told was "the guy" she was supposed to like when she grew up. He doesnt look a thing like Jesus, but he talks like a gentlemen, like you imagined when you were young.

    • @preciousroihomeshoppingnet7908
      @preciousroihomeshoppingnet7908 2 года назад +4

      I think there are two guys...one of them the "beautiful boy/perfect one" who might actually look something like Jesus in her mind, and the other one is the one she's confronted with now. And he at least ticks off the "talks like a gentleman" box off on her checklist she made when "she was young". I think this is a song about settling for reality. A loose parallel to the story of the guy who was shipwrecked and drifted along denying multiple opportunities because "his God would save him", and then he dies and St. Peter asks him why he didn't take advantage of all the opportunities God sent him to be saved. Only in this case, she's waiting for the perfect man to save her, and she might just want to settle for being saved by the man in front of her...who is at least well-spoken.

All These Things and Read My Mind are more like this, cryptic meaning, good weird bad poetry lyrics, good emotion. hard to pin down.

    The Killers music to me always sounded a lot older than it actually was, like it should be played alongside Kansas, Rush, or some other music from that era.

    Brad you had a little sway going my man. The Killers do that too ya. I am 60 and the Killers hit that right nerve. Wish i could remember the show a few years back but the tequila would not let me. Seriously i hit the turf lol. Less learned dont drink with your daughter. Good times great pop band.

    I think its about a girl who has this fantasy of being loved by the perfect guy. Then a guy comes and he is not perfect. He might even be pretty flawed. She sees past his faults and gives him a chance and he tries to prove his love to her. All that about devils water is about surrendering to temptation and giving him a chance, climbing the mountain is all the obstacles in their journey; its all a love story. It has a very nostalgic sound to me too, like a lover you lost but still want to be doing well in life.
