Watching stuff on television always has this weird way of making the venues seem much larger than they are. I watch wrestling and on TV the arena looks massive. Then I went to my first WWE show and was shocked at how tiny the arena is when you are actually there and how massive the ring is. On TV it looks like you need binoculars to see anything if you are sitting in the stands
It's the same for the actors, they look larger when viewed on the big screen than they are in real life. Movie magic lol. Ironically, this is an orchestra of directors and professionals, making it look grandiose and massive is their forte.
I don't get it. Why did they give an oscar to a foreign movie when they have a International Feature Film? This made no sense to me, and seems it's just a publicity stunt.
ernieball20 finally paid off? His other movies, memories of a murderer, the host, snowpiercer, mother were huge hits in korea. And memories of a murderer was the 2nd movie he directed..

@@__elizabeth you might not understand what the Oscar means to Korean people. Korean films already got acknowledged by Cannes, Venice etc but never with Academy awards so far.. I’m British and love cinema. I’m extremely proud of the British film industry, I really believe they produce the best films outside of Hollywood, and will happily applaud any British film that goes on to win an Oscar, but this time I was rooting for Parasite over 1917. So glad Parasite won.

I heard many people were not thrilled with the Best Picture Winner last year. You can see the lack of excitement when the Winner was announced, and some ppl even booed. Many people felt Roma should have won.
I couldn’t even remember which picture won last year and I watched those awards live! I had to look it up and I was like “oh, right, that movie” I liked Rome, the cinematography was gorgeous and the acting was good/fine but the screenplay could have been better tbh, still it should have won over the green book which was just an ok movie with good acting, overall last year was a weak year for movies imo. Happy Parasite won this year, it totally deserved it! (Por cierto, también soy mexicana pero te respondo en inglés pa poder practicar mi inglés básico pues, jeje)
Best movie of the year...perhaps even the decade! Brilliant filmmaking, script and acting! Such an incredibly original film....deserves all the accolades!
I didn't realize it when viewing from other angles, but I guess Parasite really was a dark horse, seeing how far back in the nose-bleeds they were sitting.

Possibly not dirt poor lol but Bong Joon Ho admitted to writing his previous films (not the ones he directed) only because he needed the money for his son's milk. It wasn't particularly his vision. He was just a writer for hire. Now, he's an auteur, an Oscar-winning genre-bending auteur at that.

Weird how the auditorium feels so much smaller here from this perspective. It looks massive in the regular shots.

Well tbh this video was filmed in the back end of the orchestra with a ceiling lower than the field of view so it makes it seem smaller.

its the ceiling blocking the view. Like in a semi-basement.
