Keep an eye out for some fun little nods to classic horror movies in this one! There are quite a few! :)
I definitely noticed the nods to Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Scream!
It’s great that the dev is keeping up the running gag of subtle references to famous slasher films.
"Strode Street", that was a nice nod
I actually like that she can use the screwdriver to save herself. You don't normally see attacking the slasher as an actual option (most of the time you die). Not to mention, it's an option later on if you picked it up, it's nice that they let her be competent unlike most characters in horrors.
She have the capabilities to surprise the killer tho.
Even funnier, they just "Fuck this shit" and continue watching movie together
The Happyhills massacre and the Clown Face killer is behind us...
However, as the rain pours down on the small town of Crystalpine Grove, young Suzie walks home from a shift at work.
During that night, a new threat emerges from the shadow. One drenched in a black raincoat with knife in hand.
The Rainman has come to hunt...and Suzie might be his latest quarry.
I like that there is an ending where you reason with the killer, that's not common enough. Too often the killer is presented as someone who has no sense of logic or reason, so they cannot be spoken to - which is also accurate in another way (as there are definitely serial killers who could have never been talked out of it), but it's all too common.
The Happyhills Homicide was such a fun game, really wanted to see it expanded and made into a full game. Glad to see the dev is still working on new stuff!
It got expanded though
Even longer than this one it was like an hour and a half
That trash was unrealistic af
"He locked the door!"
She said from inside the house... where the lock is... which you can unlock... from the inside...
Some doors require a key to lock and open even from the inside.
Suzie has a neighbor named Mr. Craven, as the dearly missed director, she lives in Stroode Street (a nod to Laurie Stroode from Halloween, like the news ancor, Tod Loomis, as both the doctor from Halloween and the very first killer from Scream, which was also an homage to Halloween btw), on the bus there's the advertisement for "Scream Soap", the name of the pass is Krueger (Nightmare), also obviously the joke her friend makes at the phone is from Scream; not to mention the Rainman slightly reminds me of the Fisherman in "I know what you did last summer" (as well as the writings on the bathroom's mirror) or any other killer from a slasher, really. Also, a Jason with mommy issues, do I neee to say more?😅😅 And maybe I'm wrong, but the obscene stalker moaning on the phone is also the main menace in Black Christmas.
Enjoyed this little gem a lot! A few things I didn't like that much: the easy jumpscares (the dog, Andy, the detective); the old cliché of the boyfriend being wrongfully killed instead of the real murderer (poor Andy, there's like only one ending in which he doesn't get slaughtered 😔); the overall barely simple plot (still enjoyable though).
Three.
In Garage, when you do not trust him and when you run up at killer after mirror event.
Actually, four.
He will survived when you walk home by yourself.
I love Dustin Hoffman in this role
Nothing like a Bobert production to lull me back to sleep. Thanks fren.
Sweet dreams! :)
It's funny, there is an urban legend or even creepypasta that talks about the mysterious "Rainman".
What's so funny then.
Also a Tom Cruise movie
This game has such a strong atmosphere
I love literally EVERY game you play! My favorite gaming channel on RUclips hands down.
13:17 Detective: "What are you doing at your own house?? Minding your own business?? That's very sus if you ask me!"
Got really spooked for three times.
The alarm clock, Andy, and the dog.
And the first storyline selection wasn’t started yet…
"He locked the door! How am I ever supposed to get out of my own house while being locked inside of it?! This is just like the time I locked my keys out of my car!!!"
First thought was "Rainman" the movie with Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. Second thought was, can't be cause that's not a horror movie plus the word "The" added to very beginning. 😆
Very good game.
I absolutely loved Happyhills Homicide!!
Another game from the devs of happyhills homicide!
I saw teaser but i was too scared to play, i wanted to see gameplay for it.
This is appreciated! thanks
A perfect example of why you never store bullets away from the gun
Eff that loud ass alarm clock in the beginning 💀
I was going to commend Suzie's professionalism, but it's probably not the hard when your shifts are only three hours long.
She doesn't even change out of her work uniform.
17:50 yeah, embrace him. He does look like he needs a hug
Jesus, rip headphone users. My phone was only at half volume and it damn near woke up the whole house. ☠️
There's no WAYYYYY someone she knows from the diner wouldn't give her a ride home.
Yeah, The Happyhills Homicide developer is instantly recognizable.
23:27 that's on her. Guy has a car nearby, but waits for a bus at a bus stop, and the car isn't even busted.
15:55 So this is teenage Jason Vorhees who hates his mom this time? Did she ground him or something?
I was suspicious of Andy just because he ordered a singular waffle
Love this. Finished this one. The story's so good.
As a Andy, I like ending 4
"Joe's Garage" - classic Frank Zappa album. 👍
Definitely, definitely, definitely gotta stalk victims in the rain.
Very good shiny thing.
Dustin Hoffman looks different
Must be a dark and gritty reboot! :)
Happy Halloween ABG!
Definitely could've been fleshed out more, maybe less focus on so many alternate ending scenarios and more focus on environment interaction probably would've made this seem more fun.
moral of the story: always accept rides from creepy strangers
Little bit stiff dialogue but cute game
THEY MADE A NEW GAME!?!!!! i am so happy
That's actually why people keep a 9mm semi automatic with em..
Happyhills homicide vibes
That newsreader was way too casual 😂
Wait a minute and the choice moment when you chose to not take the shortcut for the police station?
There is no choice for that
I'm disappointed. No pixel sprites of Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman.
1. Your neighbor Mr. Craven directed Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream.
2. I like the soft CRT like filter and pixel art.
Aw man, the Caleb reveal made me slightly upset. HOW would he have been at the bus stop before Suzie, if he slipped out the backdoor how would he not at least have been winded from getting there before her?
I really hope this is in some way connected to "Rain Man" the movie.
Let’s hope they make a happy hills homocide 2
yeah, dad lets me slash slowly in the driveway. of course not on tuesadays, yeah never on tuesdays
0:12 purse? I thought thos was a really big bra...
The bokeh effect with 16-bit graphics can take a break at this point. The pixel art itself is good enough, I think the bokeh effect adds nothing to the presentation and is a negative, in my opinion.
Huh, this game's perspective is of her being watched from the bushes. Mmmm don't like that 😬
His the drowned son
They censor the language of their own game? Pretty stupid.
needs copy editing, the writing is full of grammar and idiomatic mistakes. a lot of the plot doesnt make sense. the killer locked her own house door from the outside??
Yeah the lock one Doesn’t make any sense
When have horror movies/games ever made sense?
This is nothing
Lakeview cabin but boring
Another game that doesn't understand how door locks work. Sigh.
