Being bipolar is the worst. One day you'll feel you can accomplish everything that's held you back. Right all the wrong decisions. Tomorrow is doomsday. Capable of nothing. Its meaningless. Thank you for your message.
Glad Anthony got help, but I wish he'd realise that everybody doesn't have this wonderful support system he speaks of. Some people literally have no one.
💗 I never knew. I followed Anthony green since juturna and has always been my favorite artist. Helped me through death of my father, other family, my own mental struggles
And this is why I call him a muse, the way Anthony’s art and the guys in Circa through their music have gotten me through so many of my ups and downs. Not just the good stuff but definitely the dark and bad ones is because of his honesty. Because of the way this “real magic” that’s always mentioned does exist. To me thats hope. Hope that I know exists and one can’t let go. Forever grateful for artists like him that will speak up on issues some consider taboo or uncomfortable. These discussions need to happen and be made aware of. Mental health is just as important as your physical. Thanks bud for being there always. Thank you for creating my Safe Camp.
Just knowing there is music that gathers our internal struggles into a giant discography of relatable songs and stories. Not alot of artists can achieve that but bands like circa survive and deftones to name a couple is what makes us feel like we arent alone. Ive cried listening to circa, such a powerful band.
Well said, I’m bipolar myself and have so much similarity. His music has always connected on a spiritual level. Especially in my darkest heroin days. Just like Anthony Green a lot of bipolar people struggle with addiction. 2+ years clean this month though
Dude, I wish I could tell this man in real life face-to-face that his music has saved my life on letting go has to be handsdown my favourite album from them
It took me years to seek help, to tell someone, to realize that the outbreaks, that being someone else might not be my fault, and that I was not a freak. When I realized that everything could be malleable, that there were people around me willing to be patient with me, to have compassion for me, and that I could do something good, something that would not hurt others... Everything changed. Every day is a different fight, but it's so much better when you know what you're fighting against, what you don't have to fight, and that there are so many people on your side... Videos like these, people like you, institutes and organizations like this, make me feel that... there is a place in the world for us, and it doesn't have to be a bad place.
I’ve been struggling with this since I was a child. I’m honestly sobbing my eyes out watching this because of how much your music has helped me Anthony. It truly does take one to know one and I can’t thank you enough. Perspective is everything, always keep that. Again, thank you for sharing this. Your music has kept me sane for 13+ years and I truly can’t thank you enough. P.S- I can’t wait to see you and/or Circa on tour soon. Come to Austin we miss you ❤️
Anthony's music has given me strength since I was 13, when a middle school friend played Seven Years in a class project where we played our favorite music and described what it made us feel and remember. A year later I discovered Circa Survive, and for the last 15 years I've used that music to help me in dark times, even when I don't it want to. Thank God for Anthony.
I've struggled with mental illness every day and I play bass in a band named bayvell, and you've helped me so much with understanding that this is who I am, and that's what makes me unique.
Self focus and self obsession is always at the crux of mental illness. Community is absolutely crucial to healing and managing issues with mental health. Super thankful that you have found others to help you through your deep struggle Anthony. You are an inspired musician and are loved by many many people.
Man I wish I could thank you personally Anthony, I’ve been a fan of you and the band since juturna and as someone else who fought through intense depression and anxiety for well over a decade everything you say here is so critically important. Mental health needs to be taken very seriously, it’s so important for people to just open up and know they will always be accepted and supported.
I heard some of the struggles in circa survive especially in blue sky noise, but man this is really brave, and some real truth. Wonderful to hear some reality and from the heart. Thanks for the video. Great to see AG looking and talking much healthier than in the past.
Being bipolar can be a blessing and a curse because when you perceive the world as both the good and the bad it means that you walk this middle path, and that at any moment you can decide to go to the either extreme and so it's just important to remember that it's part of the human experience and it really is OK to feel these things and it's not the fact that you feel these things that is going to punish you it's what you do when you feel these things and it's what you allow yourself to fall into so the next time anybody is feeling these highs and these lows just remember it's part of the human experience and it's all ok and it's all ok and you know those highs wouldn't be so great if the lows weren't so bad themselves and even when the things are bad it's still an opportunity to see things differently so that you can improve yourself so stay on that middle path and just remember life goes on and it is beautiful
Anthony is an absolute gem of a person and incredibly talented. His genuineness and creativity are out of this world. I love that he has figured out how to manage having Bipolar and that he is open to sharing about it. I’ll never forget going to see Circa Survive as a teenager and getting lost in the live music and magic of the live music ♥️
I can’t believe one of my all time favorite musicians is bipolar just like me!!! I am just learning from watching this video! Unbelievable, I never knew!! Love you Anthony - saw you at my chem in Brooklyn Barclays center in 2022.. crazy!!! Stay healthy guys - don’t do drugs or drink… stay on a healthy life and you will have a healthy mind!!
Thanks for your story Anthony. I recently told my mom in November 2021 that I wanted to die because my life was nothing at 34. I spent 18-28 partying every weekend while my siblings made smarter choices and became more successful. Me and my brother who is 33 seem to be the black sheep of the family (at least he has a successful job and a family) Even coming up on 35, I feel like it's too late. I never wanted marriage or a family or kids, I am Gemini and if people know that sign, you know how we are lol. First time I saw you was at Modified Arts in Phoenix when you played to a sold out crowd and me and my friend were front row. You were doing your first run for Avalon. I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder in 2011 and have suffered hyper manic episodes 4 times since. I have managed for the most part with meds (although at a high cost to my overall health) I am currently on Abilify which helps tremendously and I feel more positive than ever. Thank you for always bearing your soul in all you do. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
I always come back to this video when I’m feeling the way I am right now. Hopeless and worthless. I’ve been struggling for a very long time… I hope everyone is okay these days. 💚 and Anthony Green, thank you for giving me something to lean on
I'm a fan of him (and Circa Survive) since 2008, but never got a chance to see him play live (this is one of my dreams, really). Not only all of his music is inspiring but himself as a human being is too. It breaks my heart to know all of the struggles this man has gone through his life, but it also warms my heart and gives me hope for a better future to know that he is alwayis fighting and talking about it. It truly makes me happy to see him so well and taking care of himself, to see him building a beautiful family and keep making songs. I hope one day I'll be able to see him perform live and, if I'm lucky, give him a big hug and thank him personally for all the good impact he made in my life. Keep the good fight, Anthony.
Anthony, I found this while in a manic state adjusting to my medication after being off of it. I’ve been a fan for years, but I stopped listening for at least 5 years. I’m coming back
Speaking from the heart. That phase of life we were going through during Saosin, and The Sound of Animals Fighting, they were good times and crazy times for sure. I have much respect for you buddy. See you in Denver next year in January! 😁👍
Anthony Green has always been a huge inspiration. Seeing this is hitting me on another level because it's completely relatable. Thankful that I was able to see him perform while I was growing up.
We love you, AG - just as you are (real-problem & struggles w/mental-health - common-ground). Blessings to you & your fam'. You inspire us all to be better versions of ourselves. Thanks, for having the courage to be real (in a world of silicone/facades)
Glad to hear this being mentioned. Good stuff man and best of luck with managing. I have the same thing and it sucks but it's good to know we're not alone. Circa is helping me get through my depression as I type this rn. Thank you for the awesome tunes and much love bro 🤘🏻
The obsession thing is really bad. I've never been diagnosed, but I've got horrible anxiety. But the obsessive thoughts are really hard. I've always loved Anthony, and I appreciate him being so open about this over the years.
20 years and now I finally see why I obsessed and felt everything you have put your fingers on to the core of my soul. its because we are very much the same I'm bipolar with PTSD and ADHD lol I sing along and feel every ounce of emotion you pour out. I can recreate it with the same emotion and it leaves me in tears most times anthony. I fucking feel you bro. I swear on my life I feel you. if there was one thing in this world that would ever be right would be to sing a song with you alone me and you and colab just because damn you would completely get it once you heard. I bet my life on it. let's save eachother bipolar brother to another bipolar brother. we would have fun watching everyone be surprised at who was singing either of our parts. lets start a project Anthony. name it SurviveTheWater . lmao I'm tottaly fucking gonna post this and I just know for sone reason you're gonna actually see this. dont have expectations tho. only because you could probably know with our mental issues when expectation is thrown in you can only expect chaos. lol love you brother. truly do. I feel you.
Awesome picture at Red Rocks Anthony! Your music is awesome, you’re one of my favorite artists and I bed we’d be friends because you’re authentic, kind to people, and willing to share life (through music and videos like this). Thank you, and your band mates. Thanks for being vulnerable with us.
His message really resonates with me, I've always struggled talking to people about what's going on in my head or feeling like I'm better off dealing with it alone
So grateful for you and your music. I struggle with schizoaffective bipolar type and it's nice knowing you're not alone. Being open and honest is the best thing we can do. Taking care of yourself and mental health is number 1 and I want to spread awareness with my voice, by podcast, videos and music. I'm inspired by you. Stay safe
Circa Anthony Green...? Saosin Anthony green was my hero in high school. Besides "Bury your head," he shaped my adolescents. Plus a little underoath. And a little The Used.
It’s so impressive that he can have this great attitude while being bi-polar, and seems like he manages it extremely well . I’ve had a couple good friends that have the same condition, and sadly they let it control their lives. They’ve alienated all their friends, got mad at them for the most ridiculous reasons, and wouldn’t talk to them for months or years. Then they’d try and apologize to them, and then pull the same shit a few months later or try and justify the reason they cut them off in the first place. I’m a very forgiving person, but both my friendships with them ended badly because they couldn’t control their mental health. They’re the only two friends that I’ve had to completely cut off because I couldn’t deal with their outbursts. One of them almost killed me while while I was driving, trying to tell me my wife and I should get an abortion. If you wanna see a bi-polar person who can’t control their condition, look no further than Kanye West.
Wow, what an inspirational guy, I had no idea. I can't express how relatable it felt to hear him say he felt like he needed to kill himself. That made sense so much it hurt. Keep keeping on y'all.

I'm bipolar and it is hellish. Healing trauma makes it better but it's still overwhelming sometimes.
That elation comment was so true
It really is the worst... It’s so awesome
